HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Karen has never been one to enjoy being the center of attention. She would rather be in the background...working, giving, serving. Her very nature is to be selfless.

So, with God's great sense of humor...He saw it fit for her to marry a spotlight hog like me. As if THAT wasn't enough...He also gave her a son who's got a "hey, look at me!" personality.

What I'm trying to say is plain and simple.

Karen is an amazing, wonderful, fun, caring, godly and loving mother to Troyer Keane.

I see this every day.

If you have any doubts...just look at how happy, smart, cute and funny our son is. The proof is in the "Troyer".

Karen, thank you for being a rockin' mama to our little boy. 14344!

Are my opinions, thoughts, ideas or point of view THAT important? Important enough for the World Wide Web to know?

I get the whole "this is MY way of journaling or capturing and encapsulating my thoughts" angle...I really do. But if it's TRULY just for you to record your history...why publish it for all to see?

There are TONS of "blogstars" and "twittelebrities" out there who have TONS of "subscribers" and "followers"...and yet they are virtually unknown. What does this tell us about our society...our culture as a whole?

This is my 100th blog post.
It's been a few weeks that I've been wondering what to write for this momentous occasion.
It has to be good.
It has to be impactful.

So, I decided to ask my buddy Andrew over at Muddy Water Ministry to guest blog for me.

I can't think of a better way to celebrate my 100th post!

What an honor it is to be asked to guest blog for someone. Especially someone as awesome as Iman. Thanks man!

Well let me get this started by introducing myself. My name is Andrew Conley and I have been happily married to my gorgeous wife Alyssa for almost three years. We have been doing missions work now for about a year and a half. Our ministry is called Muddy Water Ministry. Our basic goal is to go and serve other missionaries. See, we are called as believers to serve others. In the church we often refer to this as washing feet. So ...my wife and I feel that it is our calling to go and "wash the feet" of missionaries. When you do this, muddy water is left behind. Sometimes the most refreshing part of our Christian walk is to just get our hands dirty and do something.

Last year we spent 6 weeks with some amazing missionaries in Far East Russia, David and Inga Maxey. You can find them at www.pastordavidmaxey.com. We babysat for them, trained their guard dog, cleaned out the church basement, jump started their youth group, designed a website, worked in their orphanage ministry, etc. Anything they asked, we were willing to do. I know you may look at that list and ask where the ministry is? Where are the souls saved? They were there, but that was not our focus. Our focus is to refresh and encourage other missionaries. By doing this, we have a direct effect on their ability to save the lost in their communities. Even things like babysitting were a vital part of our trip. It was the first time in a long time they had a chance to go on a date and just enjoy time with each other. Folks that's huge! By helping them keep their marriage and family strong, we enabled them to keep their church family strong, therefore reaching the lost. We have to realize that it's about more than the glory of speaking to the masses and putting another notch on your belt. It's about God's kingdom and furthering it in any way we can. Sometimes you are leading someone to Christ and other times you are encouraging others who already do it on a day to day basis. That's servanthood. That's getting your hands dirty. That's Muddy Water!

We are muddying the water again yet again. We are currently in Cote D'Ivoire in west Africa to help out a beautiful couple named Charles and Sylvie Toakesse. They have an established Church, Bible School, etc. and have accepted our offer to come spend time with them and help them in whatever capacity they want. Unlike our last trip, this one will be for a longer amount of time. It will be a little over 5 months. I wish I could tell you some awesome details about what will happen and what we will do, but I honestly don't know. I do know this though. God will be there, he will use us, he will use the Toakesse's, and lives will be forever changed.

21 day fast

It's been 21 days since I gave up Twitter and Facebook.

Every time I felt like Twittering I, instead, prayed for wisdom and direction, for our nation to turn to God and for the lost and the exiled to return to God.

Every time I felt like checking my Facebook I, instead, prayed for wisdom and direction, for our nation to turn to God and for the lost and the exiled to return to God.

At first it was very difficult. Then it became annoying. But then on the 5th or 6th day it became a battle cry!

Why was I even complaining about my being "inconvenienced"?

Right now, thousands of names are on our church's walls. Those names represent people that need freedom from addictions, freedom from bondage and more importantly...people that desperately need a Savior.

My 21 days of inconvenience in exchange for, at the very least, ONE of those names to come home?...

...I need to get over myself more often.

It's been HECKA-B-ZAY around these parts!

My wife's got a new hobby...an "addiction" if you will. She's turned "crafty" on me..."crafty" like sewing-needlepoint-make-things "crafty"...and textiles/materials/fabrics is her "crack"

We went to 2 Jo-Ann fabric stores this past Monday and possibly spent a total of close to 3 hours! The total dollar amount of "all = 5 things" she purchased?.......less than $10!

Jo-Ann is her crack house.

I believe my wife makes me laugh harder than anyone I know...and that's when she's NOT even trying.

I need to start reading "The Strong Willed Child" by James Dobson.

I absolutely love seeing the evidence of God moving in someone's life.

I love getting to know people beyond the "hi" and "see you later".

I think, and this is only my humble opinion, people should just openly and honestly talk to each other in a loving manner. This way it'll eliminate all the crap that pride and the "unknown" builds to separate us.
