Now create an account in Game Ranger software.

Yahoo Mail sign in Problems with AVG Internet Security 2011

AVG Internet Security 2011 provides lot of features for user for safe internet browsing. But you may not be able to login into your mail (in this case it is Yahoo Mail) due to a security feature in AVG. This feature affects browsers Firefox 3.6.13, and IE 8.

The culprit behind this sign in problems is Online Shield feature in AVG Internet Security. This feature blocks the website from opening in above said browsers.

How to solve Yahoo Mail sign in Problems :

1. Open AVG Internet Security 2011. Right click on Online Shield and select Open.

2. Uncheck the Enable Online Shield and click Save Changes to close.

3. That’s it you are done. Now you can login into your Yahoo Mail account.

How to Delete Auto Drafts of Pages in Wordpress Blog

In some Wordpress versions we see that whenever we save a draft of page it gets added to the blog navigation bar as a link even though it is not published, see the picture below.

In this case, login into Cpanel, then PHPMyAdmin. Select the Wordpress database, then in the sidebar select wp_posts, now you will get a table with all the posts that are published and those not published, ie drafts. We need to check for drafts so on the right side click on post_status column heading, now the auto-drafts gets to the top of the table. Scroll a bit further right and find post_type column heading, in that column there you will find Page. Check if it is published or not, to make sure you are deleting correct one simply check for the url of it and the one that is on navigation bar. Select that auto-draft and click on Delete button. That’s it.

This article is for those who had a cracked version (ie downloaded from torrents) and want to play Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare Multiplayer online.

Go here read this guide on How to Crack and Play Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare Multiplayer Online for PC. Follow those steps, after that you must be able to play the multiplayer game. If you get error even after doing all those said steps read the following.

Before replacing with original files, I recommend you to make backup of the existing files in your G:\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\main folder then place the downloaded ones’ on them. Now open Qtracker, select COD4 game, right click on the folder having private servers and select Refresh “FolderName” item from the menu. After refreshing the servers you will get a list of active servers. Select any server you want from the list, right click and choose Connect. COD4 will open and you will see the game loading. During this time you will find some low ping servers, in that case choose the next server. Enjoy.

Lazy Load is a jQuery plugin designed specially for long web pages that contain number of images. Plugin will delay the loading of images outside of viewpoint to make the page load faster. That is, images in the visible part of the web page are only loaded and remaining images are loaded when visitor scrolls down the page, at some times it can even helps to reduce server load.

Fix compressed BOOTMGR in Windows 7

Few days back I have installed Windows 7 on my XP system, it’s a dual boot. System worked normally for few days. But one day I see this text instead of appearing boot menu. “BOOTMGR is compressed. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to restart”, I restarted and same screen appeared.

What is BOOTMGR?

BOOTMGR is advanced/next version of BOOT.INI file (generally found in Windows XP) where boot information data is stored. This advanced boot file (BOOTMGR) was used in Windows Vista.

The reason why BOOTMGR file is compressed is Compress this Drive feature is enabled for master hard drive. When this file gets compressed BIOS cannot read the boot information, so you see this text on your screen “BOOTMGR is compressed. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to restart”. NTFS file system offers this feature of compression which is not found in FAT file system.

Usually we choose this option to compress all the data on our hard drives especially in Windows Vista and 7 without knowing. But once we face this issue we will not forget this the next time when you choose to compress data on your hard drives. You will find this feature in Properties of your hard drives.

Fix BOOTMGR:

1. Insert Windows 7 DVD in CD tray. Restart your system, open BIOS (press F2 or DEL in some systems).

2. Go to Boot tab, set CD/DVD as first boot priority, save changes and exit. Now boot from Windows 7 DVD. Windows 7 will ask you for language and keyboard layout information, after which you will be asked if you want to re-install Windows 7 or repair your existing installation.

3. Select Repair. Windows 7 System Recovery Tool will start.

4. From the list of options select Command Prompt and go to your master drive partition. To make sure you are on the right drive type DIR/P and check for BOOTMGR file. Now type the following to uncompress BOOTMGR file.

bootrec/fixboot

bootrec/fixmbr

After booting into Windows make sure to uncheck Compress option for BOOTMGR file. You can do this by right clicking on BOOTMGR file, choose Properties, click on Advanced, uncheck Compress contents to save disk space.

For Mac users,

Smutefy is a small menu bar application that can detect the ads playing on the Spotify application and mutes system volume until the ad is over.

You need to have Growl and Soundflower installed on your system before running Smutefy.

How to use Smutefy:

Double click Smutefy in your Application folder. Smutefy icon will appear on the right side of your menu bar. The Application icon changes its color and will mute the system volume whenever ad is detected. It keeps the volume mute until the ad finishes.

To mute the system volume it refers to its "Mute list" (Mute list is a text file) for the application windows title, if it matches then the system volume is set to mute. Whenever the application windows title changes or closed then the system volume is re-activated again.

How to use MUkoTE:

Download and install MUkoTE, it runs in the background, you can find its icon in the tray. Double click on the MUkoTE icon in the tray whenever you hear the ad on Spotify to mute the system volume immediately. The program will add the Spotify title, (usually the ad title) to its Mute list. After the ad is over, as Spotify title is changed to song, the volume is then automatically activated to its previous level.

MUkoTE was specifically designed for Spotify. The developers of MUkoTE have put together a list of ads that are frequently heard on the Spotify. Copy and paste these list of ads into the Mute List, to do that right click on MUkoTE's tray icon and select "Edit Mute List", paste the ads list, save and close the file.

Details of Facebook Malware Attack - “Most Hilarious Video Ever”

Everybody on the Facebook would have heard the news about spreading Facebook malware “Most Hilarious Video Ever”. It had spread to most of the Facebook accounts.

The attack was different in different places, in US it asks to download HD Media Player while in UK the users are taken to a quiz site with 10 questions, from there to a “Win an Apple iPad” page.

WebSense Security Labs, a Web Security Research firm in California has all the details of this Facebook malware attack. See the video.

Lets see the steps involved in attack for US users. When user clicks on the “most hilarious video ever” link he is taken to Facebook login page where he is asked to login into Facebook using your username and password. Once he does, the Facebook application requests permission to allow access to profile. Then the user is taken to a page where he is asked to download and install HD Media Player application, which is a malware disguised as FLV player.

While in UK, users were taken to a quiz site with 10 questions, after answering those questions user is asked to enter his mobile number. Then the user is re-directed to “Win an Apple iPad” page where he is asked to fill in his all details address, date of birth, etc to win Apple iPad. The attack takes all the details from Facebook credentials to phone number and residential address.

Shirt Woot, a designer store in Argentina, sold this T-Shirt for $10, that has a graphic showing comic Super Hero (Flash) lying down on the ground with half eaten apple. But in irony, one can easily guess that it shows the fight between Adobe Flash and Apple. Really creative isn’t it?

The T-shirt itself was named as Poison Apple and was sold recently.

Code shows a set of five Share Buttons. It contained Send by Email, Blog this, Twitter, Facebook and Google Buzz (see the image below). For now the button links don’t work, and is likely it requires us to select options in widgets.

Google Chrome gets New Feature Desktop Notifications

Google added new API to its Chrome browser documentation that gives the new possibilities for developers to display notifications directly on your desktop.

Some extensions are already using this feature, try Gmail Notifier for Google Apps, if you have Gmail configured with Google Apps for your domain.

Just open the Chrome browser and carry on with your work, or even when browser is minimized you will see desktop notifications at the bottom of your screen.
