Photo A. They are made from KEYS of a computer keyboard.

And this is called the WOLFGANG KEYBOARD BENCH. The Wolfgang keyboard bench is made up of 2,000 keys imbedded into a layered Baltic birch wood. Each key is pressable and actually makes a clicking sound when pressed. The tactile effect of the bench also makes a playful interaction with the bench because you engage with the piece of furniture in a very up close and intimate manner while pressing in the keys.

The artist Jay-Hyo Lee creates beautiful and pleasing benches from old nails that are hammered into the surface of natural wood. These nails are then bent to create patterns that evoke the ripples of water or currents of air. Once the hammering and designing job is complete, the artist grinds the nails, exposing raw silver metal to make sure that not even one nail is in a wrong position.

SOLAR BENCH

The main purpose of a bench is seating. But, modern people do something more on the bench. Waiting for somebody would be the one of new functions. I design a bench that frees itself from tradition. It is a new approach of thinking what a bench is. While playing the traditional role, this bench becomes a WIFI hot-spot and night-lighting with the thin-film solar battery. Moreover, it is made out of aluminum and recycled plastic regard of eco-issue. (link)

LETTER BENCH

Located at a hospital in Bristol, this bench is a folded postcard inspired on an actual letter sent by a patient. The idea is to reassure new patients about the experience they will have during their stay. (link)

2. Midas Marquez. Dahil sa microphone incident nung 2011. Maghahanap siya ng marami pang microphone, kaso, isa lang ang ibibigay sa kanya yung nakasabit na. Dahil dun bubuga siya ng apoy na green ng nakapamewang. Lolz!

THE BETELNUT GIRLS

I remember the first time I set my foot here in Taiwan. That was Fall season. October 2003. I was so afraid that time, siyempre first timer eh. Afraid, baka kasi kumakain sila ng tanga. Well, yes, aside from the language, I dont know much of their culture. I red a little about it on books in high school but that was their history, during the dynasty times. So for sure there a little bit different now. When our brokers, make sundo us in the airport, walang any conversation na naganap, except for asking our names & from what company are we into, other than that are through gestures, body, and sign language. They brought us in a bus along with some Thai's and Indonesians national. As the bus hit the highway, me & my batchmates are clueless to where we are heading to, until I realized, that we our going to a hospital for medical check-up, that's the time when I remembered, a JS Contractor personnel said, that after we arrived in Taiwan we will gonna have a medical check-up, a general procedure for incoming foreign workers. And besides medyo may banta pa ng SARS that time. While we are in a bus bound to a hospital somewhere I saw these girls/ ladies in their skimpy outfits in broad daylight.

At first I thought, they were hookers so I said "Anu yan?", "Bakit ganyan?", "Legal pala ang mga ganyan dito sa liwanag". And as our bus hits the highway and small streets, I still saw a lot them. Until, one of our kasama said, who is already been here in Taiwan for the second time, "mga NGANGA girls yan, taga tinda ng nganga, ganda noh!". So then, they are the so-called BETELNUT girls pala or in chinese, the "bin lang xiao jie". While seeing them in their outfits, i felt sad & amazed too. and there's a lot of questions burst into my mind. "Why they should need to dressed in kinky outfits just to sell that betelnut, shit?", "Hindi ba sila naeexploit o nababastos sa mga suot nila?", or "gusto kaya nila ang gingawa nila?" As our bus came to an end to our destination, the hospital I mean, I still thinking of them, (not to fantasize them, well, yes, a bit) and still have some questions to dug in some answers.

After my first 3 years of contract ends, I've got answers to my questions. With some research on the net and interviewing some local (Taiwanese), I've got all the answers I needed. Based on what they said, they use skimpy clothes because most or 90% of the customers are males. Sexy clothes are for attracting customers but other girls put flavors on it by selling other stuffs and sidelines. They, the betelnut girls, dont want to be betelnut girl but they are force to do that because of high cost of living here. They also said, in selling betelnut, money is easy and there in no much work load to be taking care of, but the bad part is the impression of the people, some people think that they are 'easy' to get in. Some perverts want to touch their body too. Though they wore that kind of clothes, it doesnt mean that they can be harassed.

Now, most of the betelnut stands/store have a camera for security purposes.

TATLONG TAON NA KAMEHHH! LOL!

Wow! antagal na pala nating magkasama. Hindi mo ko iniwan sa gitna ng problema. At halos lahat yun, lahat nalampasan natin, kahit na sa kabila ng sakit, pait at saya nanatili pa rin ang bond natin. Hindi ko maikakaila na minsan naiinis ako sa iyo, kasi may mood swings, minsan ayaw mong magrespond sa mga tanong ko at kwento ko. Naalala ko tuloy nung ipakilala ka ng kaibigan ko, hindi ko masakyan ang mga gusto mo. May gusto ako ikuwento sa iyo kaso ayaw mo akong pakinggan, o siguro ako lang yun, feeling ko lang that time na ayaw mo sa akin, pero ang totoo gusto mo rin ako. Kaya naman ang ginawa ko hindi kita pinansin at bumalik ako sa dati, sa dati na nakasama ko sa loob ng 2 taon, kahit na iniwan ko siya ng basta basta, bukas palad pa rin niya akong tinanggap. Pero sa aking pagbabalik sa kanya, nawala yung dating gana, may hinahanap ako na parang sa iyo ko lang nakita. Dahil dun muli akong nagpaalam sa kanya and this time with sweet goodbyes na, at kahit na mahirap sa kanya nagkaroon naman ng magandang closure ang paghihiwalay namin at naunawaan niya ang mga reasons ko kung bakit kailangan kong lumayo. Ang maganda pa nito naging FRIENDs pa rin kami in spite and despite of what happened. So, moving on, tinry kong bumalik sa iyo kahit na sumpungin ka most of the time. Siguro nga yun ang gustong kong mangyari ang magka-challenge or ma-challenge ako sa buhay.

Nung unang buwan medyo mahirap para sa akin kasi imbes na sa kapwa Pilipino mo ako ipakilala, sa mga kaibigan mong Latino ako inintroduce na lalong nagpahirap sa akin, kasi unang una, yung lenggwahe, although, medyo related ang ibang words sa wika natin, nahirapan pa rin ako ng todo. Good thing naman is mababait sila, at take note, naging close ko pa ang isang Columbian friend mo. So, kahit na nahirapan ako sa unang pagsubok mo, nakita kong napangiti ka at unti-unti ng nagiging close tayo. And then yun na, pinakilala mo na ako sa mga FIlipino friends mo, at maging ang mga old friends ko nakilala mo na rin at nagustuhan ka rin nila. Dahil din sa iyo nakilala ako ng mga taong nasa likod ng mga kwento na aking sinusundan sa ibang network. At dahil dun naibalik ko ang hilig ko sa pagsusulat. At dun ko rin napatunayan na hindi ka selosa kasi kahit na meron akong nakaka-close na iba, andyan ka pa rin at naghihintay. Pasensiya ka na kung wala kong nasabi sa iyo nung 2nd year natin, medyo naging busy ako sa mga games na ipinakilala mo sa akin. Pasensiya ka na rin kung bumalik ang pagkahilig ko sa mga online at network games, dahil dun hindi kita masyadong napapansin. Siguro na-excite lang ako at namiss ko yung mga bagay na ginagawa ko nung college, yung makausap at makalaro ng poker ang mga kaibigan ko. Pero magkagayun pa man di mo pa rin ako iniwan, bagkus andyan ka pa rin naghihintay at nag-aabang.

Ngayon ika-3 taon na ng ating pagsasama. Masasabi ko na, salamat sa iyo, sa lahat lahat. Ikaw ang almost una nakakaalam ng mga sama ko ng loob at problema sa pamilya, sa kaibigan at sa mga bagong kakilala. Ikaw rin ang halos unang nakakaalam ng mga saya, ligaya, paglalakbay at mga bagay na nais kong ibahagi sa iba. Dahil diyan taos puso akong nagpapasalamat sa iyo at hindi mo ako iniwan sa loob ng 3 taon. Maraming salamat at inalis mo ang homesick na aking naramdaman dito sa ibang bansa. Muli, maraming maraming salamat sa 3 taon nating pagasasama .......................................

At a kabila ng iba't ibang handaan dala ng kapaskuhan at kabi-kabilang mga party, for sure naramdaman niyo ang mga ito,bloating, hirap sa pagdighay, pananakit ng tiyan, pananakit ng bandang itaas na bahagi ng sikmura, lalo na after kumain ng ibat ibang pagkain gaya ng istapegi, pansit, menudo, adobo, fruit salad, hamon, at iba't iba pang putaheng pang pasko at pang christmas party. Kung ito ay iyong naramdaman ikaw ay na-IMPATSO o indigestion.

At dahil ikaw ay nakaranas ng ganito nung kapaskuhan, narito ang limang tips upang ito ay maiwasan sa darating na NEW YEAR.

Sa pangunguna ng Migrant Empowerment Network of Taiwan o MENT at sa pakikipagtulungan ng Hsinchu Migrants and Immigrant Service Center(HMISC) kaakibat ang iba't ibang support group mula sa iba't ibang syudad at probinsya ng Taiwan, isinagawa ang isang malawakang protesta para sa iisang sigaw ng ating mga domestic workers, ito ay ang karapatang makapagpahinga, at ang equal rights katulad ng mga nagtatrabaho sa mga kumpanya at pabrika. Sa kabila ng pagtaas ng minimun wage para sa foreign workers sa mga kumpanya at pabrika, ang ating mga kababayan na nagtatrabaho bilang kasambahay at katiwala ay nanatili pa rin sa minimun wage na NT$15840. Kaya naman nagsama-sama at nagkaisa ang iba't ibang lahi upang iparating, katukin at kalampagin ang mamamayan ng Taiwan na bigyan ng karapatang mamasyal, makapagsimba, makapagpahinga at bigyan ng pantay na karapatan tulad ng sa iba.

This nothing goes with the countdown to Christmas or to my birthday. December 3, 2011 made a history for me and for some Filipino's too.

First, I attended an advent recollection. This marked the second in my entire life (who cares!). Well, if you don't want to know, I had my first during my freshmen year at St. Mary's. And for me this is a history. Walang kokontra.

Second, I have'nt cry for..well, lets say i'm not an emotional person. I cant easily cry & get into some crying stuff thingy but when I saw this Christmas Plug of Coca-Cola: Where Will Happiness Strikes Next, I saw myself crying. I dont know, I think, I experienced what they are saying. I've been away for my family since 2003 that's why the impact of that video for me is too deep.

Third, I already felt that it is truly winter time. As of now we've been experiencing 15 degrees temperature & continue dropping. Wala lang! Epic fail! lol.

Beckham & his team arrived in the Philippines a few days ago for an exhibition game against the country's national team.

Ms. Earth is just concluded with Ms. Ecuador as the title winner. And Ms. Philippines got the Ms. Earth-Water crown.

And last but not the least,

WHERE IS MY DAY OFF?

The Migrant Empowerment Network in Taiwan(MENT) in cooperation with Hsinchu Catholic Diocese Migrants & Immigrants Service Center (HMISC) and other legal organizations are inviting every OFW to support the Migrant Workers Rally this coming December 11, 2011. The main objective of this gathering is to secure the right to rest and leisure to migrant workers.

From the article posted on http://tw.migrant-workers.org/ the Council of Labor Affairs finally responded to hear the cry of many Migrant Workers especially the Domestic Workers by proposing the official Protection Act of Domestic Workers. This Act will determine the rights to have rest as well as restriction on maximum daily working hours through negotiations between the employee & the employer.

In response, everyone is invited to gather at the heart of Taipei's entertainment and shopping center in Xinyi District to alert the general public the real situation of our Domestic workers. As everyone is enjoying the weekend away from work, the thousands of our domestic migrant workers are still working, struggling and even dying under extreme labor conditions.

Once again, to all OFW here in Taiwan they need our support.

Ang Mahiwagang Mensahe sa Birthday ni Ate!!!

Hapi Bertdey sa iyo! Kahit late na ang post ko na to nais kong magpasalamat sa yo sa lahat lahat, lalo na nung magcollege ako. Alam ko during that times nahihirapan ka pero di mo pinahalata, lalo na nung maging dalawa kaming nagkolehiyo. Saludo ako sa tatag mo noon, kahit maraming nasasabi ang ibang tao, binalewala mo ang lahat ng iyon. Pasensya na kung naging medyo pasaway kami noon at least medyo lang hindi sobra pasaway. Bata pa lang tayo lagi mo na kaming pinagpapasensyahan. Naalala ko pa noon ang tiyaga mo noon bukod sa INAY na turuan ako ng haba, bilog, tukod, upang maisulat ang letrang R, na simula ng aking pangalan. Naalala ko rin nung mapatae ako sa salawal nung grade1, ikaw ang naghugas sa akin sa poso sa iskul at ng minsan magastos ko ang baon mong PISO, wala ka ng nagawa kundi ang pagpasensyahan ako, kasi kapatid mo ako. Sorry sa mga times na iyon. Hehehe.

Anyways, going back to the future. Pasensiya na kung ako lang ang wala nung ikasal ka. Hindi ko kasi kayang languyin ang halos kalahati ng China Sea eh at mahirap na baka hanapan ako ng permit sa paglangoy ng mga makakasalubong kong intsik na isda. Hehehe. Heniwey, haywey, salamat din at ipinagkatiwala at kinuha mo akong ninong ng panganay mo kahit puro utang ang pagsapit ng Pasko.

Sana sa susunod mo pang mga taon, mas lalo ka pang maging matatag at matibay(parang ngipin lang) sa anumang pagsubok bilang isang babae, asawa, anak, kapatid at ina. Nawa'y pagpalain at bigyan ka pa ng maraming taon ng AMAng lumikha.

2011 November 24 is Thanksgiving Day. An American holiday that have a big roasted turkey on the banquet as what I saw on the Smallville Series. Lol! Anyways, it is a holiday wherein the American give thanks to Lord for guiding them safe & making their harvest bountiful & productive, that is according to wiki. Eventhough its not customarily observed in the Philippines and not one of the Filipino tradition and even not in the calendars lists of holiday, I wanted to share, what I am thankful for this year.

1. LIFE. For another year that past, though its been a rough road journey, I'm very much thankful for everyday's breath that's coming out on my mouth. Everytime that I opened my eyes from the whole night sleep means another hope, goodness & knowledge are going to share to others.

2. LOVE & SUPPORT. For those peoples who believes, respects & trusts me. From my family, friends, everydays companion, everyone that I met, & even those who hated me. With you all, I still continue learning lessons in life & still continue forgiving. Even in our differences I know we are still connected.

3. HEALTH. As I celebrates an almost a decade living abroad of being an OFW. Good Health never left me. Though sometimes I felt weak, it doesn't mean that I am not healthy & fit. I'm sorry if sometimes I overused or overheaded you with some not worthy lifestyle, I'm just experimenting. :)

4. ASHIN & JARED. You two little angels brings hope & joy to my family. Thanks to the both of you for making my parents happy. May the both of you adopts the goodness & humbleness of JESUS.

5. IMPRISONED MIND & ITS FOLLOWERS. When I was in high school, I wanted to be a writer or lets say even a contributor in our school paper, but since I'm a transferee student, it never happened. I dont know whats their reason of being from other school & being on the 1st section in joining the school paper. Until now I'm asking why only those students who belongs from SSC(Special Science Class) are the one among the 20 sections, must be in the school organ. Anyways, my blog fulfilled my dream and it is like my journal, where I can share what's inside my naughty mind & anything what my brain spilled (lol!) both non-sense & have sense. I would also like to give my gratitude to my countless & million followers...uhmmm, 53 lang naman sila (lol). Thank you to your awa to follow me, hehehe.

6. BEAUTIFUL PLACES/WONDERS & PEOPLE. I'm always amazed & fascinated of seeing wonders that are created by nature or people then preserved through a very long span of years. Because of that, I have a time to bulakbol/travel places. And while I'm on travel, I always tried to compare whose better, people of the past of people of today, though I believed that us, the present inhabitant are far more better than before, yun nga lang.... we abused our powers so much.

7. COFFEE. I love coffee very much. That's it! Thank you!

8. MY COUNTRY. In this cruel world, YOU Lord Almighty still blessed my country with good people, eventhough in this moment of time, the world saw us differently. Well, I'm happy to say that I was born in this country full of happiness & talented people. No further explanation.

9. CHOCOLATES. My felicitation goes to the inventor of making cocoa seed to a wonderful, delicious & enticing cube-that-taste-good called chocolates. For that, I want to have an OOMPA-LOOMPA (Mr. Wonka Employee from his chocolate factory). Lol!

10. And last, I would like to express my gratitude to the LORD ALMIGHTY for all the blessings I have received and all I have lost.

When I was a kid, I always made a list of 10 things that I need to accomplished before my birthday comes. And as what I remembered, the last time I did this is when I was going to celebrate my 15th birthday, during my fourth year high school (yes 15th! maaga po kasi akong nag-aral). My top list during that time is to passed the UPCAT exam(ito na rin ang wishlist ko) and to have a date with my crush (honglondi!). And one of my list luckily happened on December 9 when I attended my crush town fiesta(opo, tirador ako ng mga piyestahan sa probinsya, hehehe). And I had my first kiss too! So lucky of me that time, nabusog na, may date (I considered going to church with her, a date) at kiss pa (sa noo! joke). I was on cloud nine when she kissed me, gusto ko ng ayain sanang magsex kaso maraming tao sa kanila at pinabantayan din ng kanyang tatay sa nakababatang kapatid, nakatiyempo lang ng kiss nung maihi si nene at siyempre I was thinking of my future & hers too na rin, you know college stuffs. Ayoko naman na magkaaberya at sirain ang nais nila nanay na makapagcollege ako, nagbenta pa naman sila ng isang elepante & dalawang QUEEN bee.

And that was almost a decade or more now.

So this time, as I celebrated my xxth year in this chaotic world (hahaha), I would like to do the same thing that I was doing before and this time, since today is 11.11.11, I wanted to make it 11 Things Need to Accomplish (International Edition). Why Eleven? In case may mag-failed, merong pang isa to complete it, as 10 things(lol!)

While everyone is fonded by scary and horrible stories yesterday as they celebrate Holloween & stuff, I and the whole Filipino workers of our company, GLOBAL TESTING, are suffering on the most horrifying thing that ever happened on our journey as an OFW............

......WALA NA KAMING PIENTANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, for those who dont know what pientang is, it is chinese word for, a box of food, packed as LUNCH or DINNER that can be bought in a restaurant. Usually it contains rice, veggies, side dishes & pork or chicken, just like this.

Our company decided not to continue their share in our meal allowance. Their reason is, the company is suffering and affected by the global crisis, that's why they need to cut out our meal allowance. Take note, we're on crisis since 2008! Shit!

Started yesterday, November 1, we will the one who'll gonna provide our food. Well, on the bright side we can eat whatever we wanted.

But the bad thing is...........

Im running out of budget...........

Ilang araw na lang Undas na naman. Sa amin sa Batangas UNDRAS ang tawag, at kung tatanungin mo ako kung bakit may letter na nadagdag, wala akong kasalanan, ang tanging kasalanan ko lang ay ipinanganak akong gwapo. Lolz!

Kung sa amin sa Batangas ay undras ang tawag, sa iba namang nilalang at nagkakatawang tao, ito at HALLOWEEN (yesss! hongzuxial). At ang isa sa panakagusto ko tuwing sasapit ang araw na ito ay yung tinatawag na UNDRASAN o UNDASAN. Explain UNDRASAN? Kung kayo ay namatayan sa year na ito at first time niyang[the dead] magnonovember 1 or first time niyang wala sa piling niyo tuwing sasapit ang season na ito, walah! kayo ay may instant undrasan...hehehe.

Mga kailangang sangkap kapag may undrasan. (sangkap talaga? lol)
1. Dalawang kandila, usually yung kulay yellow na mahahaba,
2. Pictyur ng namatay na nakangiti, kelangan yung pinakamaganda dahil kung hindi maookray lang siya ng mga magdadasal. Kung wala naman pede na rin ang grad pic niya....... nung kinder,

5. Prayer book at rosaryo
6. At siyempre kelangang may..... SUMANNNNN. (hindi ko alam kung bakit suman lagi ang nakahanda, bata pa ako, tanong ko na yan.)

Oo, tradisyon na ito sa lugar namin kapag may namatayan at ang numero unong handa sa panahong ito ay suman. Pero hindi lang dapat suman ang inyong pagkaabalahan, kailangan niyo rin mag-offer ng dasal para sa kaluluwa ng yumao or else he/she[the dead] will come back & hunt you not just like a typical ghost or spirit but just like SAMARA or SADAKO. Hehehe. Exempted ang mga bata sa dasal kaya naman si ako, hakot all you can! hahaha!

Well, anupa't anuman ang tawag, iisa lang ang ibig sabihin ng araw na ito. Ito ang araw upang ating bigyan ng pag-alala at dasal ang ating mga mahal sa buhay na yumao. Lalo siyang kinabahan at natakot...

Takot na lalo niyang ikinabahala. Takot na halos lumamon sa kanyang imahinasyon. Takot na lalong nagpalala ng di niya pagtulog.

Lumipas ang ilang oras....

Nagulat siya ng marinig at makitang nagsusumigaw ang kanyang nanay pagbukas sa pintuan ng kanyang silid. Nakita rin niya ang kanyang sarili sa isang sulok sa isang di maipaliwanag na katayuan.
