Remembering Allah

The Prophet (pbuh) said: "He who remembers his Lord and he who does not, are like the living and the dead. And he said, Shall I not inform you all of the best of deeds. The purest of them all with your Master (Allah), the thing that is better for you than spending gold and silver, or meeting your enemies and slaying or being slain by them?" The companions said, "off course!".

The Prophet said, "Remembrance of Allah, the Most High."

Therefore remeber Me. I will remember you. Be grateful to Me and never show Me ingratitude."

Importance of Halal - Part three

The word Halal is dervied from the root word 'hil'. 'Hil' in the Arabic language literally means to open a knot. So 'that which has been made Halal for you' means a knot has been opened and the restrictions have been removed.

The importance of consuming Halal is further emphasised When Allah specifically addresses His Messengers: 'O you Messengers! Eat of the pure things and work righteous deeds; I am well acquainted with what you do.'

An important point to acknowledge in the above verse is that the Messengers are given two pieces of advice; (i) eat Halal food (ii) do righteous deeds.

A man used to eat much, but when he embraced Islam, he started eating less. That was mentioned to the Prophet who then said, "A believer eats in one intestine (is satisfied with a little food) and a Kafir eats in seven intestines. "

"We Hear and We Obey."

Reported on the authority of Abu Huraira that when it was revealed to the Prophet: "To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth and whether you disclose that which is in your mind or conceal it, Allah will call you to account according to it. Then He forgives whom He pleases and chastises whom He Pleases; and Allah is over everything Potent" (II. 284).

The Companions of the Messenger of Allah felt it hard and severe and they came to the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) and sat down on their knees and said: Messenger of Allah, we were assigned some duties which were within our power to perform, such as prayer, fasting, struggling & charity (in the cause of Allah). Then this (the above-mentioned) verse was revealed unto you and it is beyond our power to live up to it. The Messenger of Allah said: Do you intend to say what the people of two books (Jews and Christians) said before you:

"We hear and disobey"?

You should rather say: "We hear and we obey, (we seek) Thy forgiveness, our Lord! and unto Thee is the return." And they said:" We hear and we obey, (we seek) Thy forgiveness, Our Lord! and unto Thee is the return."

When the people recited it and it smoothly flowed on their tongues, then Allah revealed immediately afterwards: "The Apostle believes in that which is sent down unto him from his Lord, and so do the believers. Each one believes in Allah and His Angels and His Books and His Apostles, saying: We differentiate not between any of His Apostles and they say: We hearken and we obey: (we seek) Thy forgiveness, our Lord! and unto Thee is the return" (II. 285).

When they did that, Allah abrogated this (verse) and the Great, Majestic Allah revealed: "Allah burdens not a soul beyond its capacity. It gets every good that it earns and it suffers every ill that it earns. Our Lord, punish us not if we forget or make a mistake." (The Prophet said: ) Yes, our Lord! do not lay on us a burden as Thou didst lay on those before us. (The Prophet said: ) Yes, our Lord, impose not on us (burdens) which we have not the strength to bear (The Prophet said: ) Yes, and pardon us and grant us protection! and have mercy on us. Thou art our Patron, so grant us victory over the disbelieving people" (II. 286).

He (the Lord) said: Yes.

The Affliction

Narrated Abu Wail from Hudhaifa:

Umar asked, "Who remembers the narration of the Prophet about the affliction?"

Hudhaifa said, "I heard the Prophet saying, 'The affliction of a person in his property, family and neighbors is expiated by his prayers, fasting, and giving in charity." 'Umar said, "I do not ask about that, but I ask about those afflictions which will spread like the waves of the sea."

Hudhaifa replied, "There is a closed gate in front of those afflictions." 'Umar asked, "Will that gate be opened or broken?" He replied, "It will be broken."

'Umar said, "Then the gate will not be closed again till the Day of Resurrection." We said to Masruq, "Would you ask Hudhaifa whether 'Umar knew what that gate symbolized?" He asked him and he replied "He ('Umar) knew it as one knows that there will be night before tomorrow, morning.

A Good Dream

Narrated Ibn 'Umar:

Men from the companions of Allah's Apostle used to see dreams during the lifetime of Allah's Apostle and they used to narrate those dreams to Allah's Apostle.

Allah's Apostle would interpret them as Allah wished.

I was a young man and used to stay in the mosque before my wedlock. I said to myself, "If there were any good in myself, I too would see what these people see.

" So when I went to bed one night, I said, "O Allah! If you see any good in me, show me a good dream. " So while I was in that state, there came to me (in a dream) two angels. In the hand of each of them, there was a mace of iron, and both of them were taking me to Hell, and I was between them, invoking Allah:

"O Allah! I seek refuge with You from Hell."

Then I saw myself being confronted by another angel holding a mace of iron in his hand. He said to me, "Do not be afraid, you will be an excellent man if you only pray more often. " So they took me till they stopped me at the edge of Hell, and behold, it was built inside like a well and it had side posts like those of a well, and beside each post there was an angel carrying an iron mace.

I saw therein many people hanging upside down with iron chains, and I recognized therein some men from the Quraish. Then (the angels) took me to the right side.

I narrated this dream to (my sister) Hafsa and she told it to Allah's Apostle. Allah's Apostle said, "No doubt, 'Abdullah is a good man."

(Nafi' said, "Since then 'Abdullah bin 'Umar used to pray much.)

A Man & The Apostle

While we were sitting with the Prophet in the mosque, a man came riding on a camel. He made his camel kneel down in the mosque, tied its foreleg and then said: "Who amongst you is Muhammad?" At that time the Prophet was sitting amongst us (his companions) leaning on his arm. We replied, "This white man reclining on his arm." Then the man addressed him, "O Son of 'Abdul Muttalib."

The Prophet said, "I am here to answer your questions." The man said to the Prophet, "I want to ask you something and will be hard in questioning. So do not get angry." The Prophet said, "Ask whatever you want."

The man said, "I ask you by your Lord, and the Lord of those who were before you, has Allah sent you as an Apostle to all the mankind?" The Prophet replied, "By Allah, yes." The man further said, "I ask you by Allah. Has Allah ordered you to offer five prayers in a day and night (24 hours).?

He replied, "By Allah, Yes." The man further said, "I ask you by Allah! Has Allah ordered you to observe fasts during this month of the year (i.e. Ramadan)?"

He replied, "By Allah, Yes." The man further said, "I ask you by Allah. Has Allah ordered you to take Zakat from our rich people and distribute it amongst our poor people?" The Prophet replied, "By Allah, yes."

Thereupon that man said, "I have believed in all that with which you have been sent, and I have been sent by my people as a messenger, and I am Dimam bin Tha'laba from the brothers of Bani Sa'd bin Bakr."

Knowledge of the Hour

Narrated Abu Huraira:

While the Prophet was saying something in a gathering, a Bedouin came and asked him, "When would the Hour (Doomsday) take place?"

Allah's Apostle continued his talk, so some people said that Allah's Apostle had heard the question, but did not like what that Bedouin had asked. Some of them said that Alllah's Apostle had not heard it. When the Prophet finished his speech, he said, "Where is the questioner, who enquired about the Hour?"

The Bedouin said, "I am here, O Allah's Apostle ."

Then the Prophet said, "When honesty is lost, then wait for the Hour." The Bedouin said, "How will that be lost?" The Prophet said, "When the power or authority comes in the hands of unfit persons, then wait for the Hour."

Life of al-Bukhari - Part one

Muhammad ibn ismail al-Bukhari, who lived from 810 a.d. to 870 a.d., is the compiler of one of the six authoritative books of hadith or sunnah.

Born in Bukhara, he spent much of his life in Nishapur, returned to Bukhara and then went to Samarkand towards the end of his life. He is said to have travelled throughout the Middle East in order to hear hadith reports.

He is reported to have had an astounding memory which he cultivated from a young age and to have accumulated some 600,000 reports which he reduced to about 2,762 distinct items. Organized by subject, al-Bukhari's al-Sahih is considered to be the most reliable collection of authenticated reports.

About Charity

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet said, "Charity is obligatory everyday on every joint of a human being. If one helps a person in matters concerning his riding an animal by helping him to ride it, it will be regarded as charity. A good word, and every step one takes to offer the compulsory congregational prayer, is regarded as charity; and guiding somebody on the road is charity."

The Best Deeds

A man asked the Prophet "What deeds are the best?"

The Prophet said: (1) To perform the (daily compulsory) prayers at their (early) stated fixed times, (2) To be good and dutiful to one's own parents.
(3) and to participate in Allah's Cause."

State of Rebellion

Narrated Ibn Umar:

When Abdullah bin Ubai died, his son 'Abdullah bin 'Abdullah came to Allah's Apostle who gave his shirt to him and ordered him to shroud his father in it.

Then he stood up to offer the prayer, but 'Umar bin Al-Khattab took hold of his garment and said, "Do you offer the funeral prayer for him though he was a hypocrite and Allah has forbidden you to ask forgiveness for hypocrites?"

The Prophet said, "Allah has given me the choice (or informed me) saying: "Whether you, O Muhammad, ask forgiveness for them, or do not ask forgiveness for them, even if you ask forgiveness for them seventy times, Allah will not forgive them," (9.80)

The he added, "I will (appeal to Allah for his sake) more than seventy times." So Allah's Apostle offered the funeral prayer for him and we too, offered the prayer along with him. Then Allah revealed: "And never, O Muhammad, pray (funeral prayer) for anyone of them that dies, nor stand at his grave.

Certainly they disbelieved in Allah and His Apostle,." (9.84)

Cause of Allah

A Letter to Heraclius

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas:

Abu Sufyan bin Harb informed me that Heraclius had sent a messenger to him while he had been accompanying a caravan from Quraish. They were merchants doing business in Sham (Syria, Palestine, Lebanon and Jordan), at the time when Allah's Apostle had truce with Abu Sufyan and Quraish infidels.

So Abu Sufyan and his companions went to Heraclius at Ilya (Jerusalem).

Heraclius called them in the court and he had all the senior Roman dignitaries around him. He called for his translator who, translating Heraclius's question said to them, "Who amongst you is closely related to that man, who claims to be a Prophet?"

Abu Sufyan replied, "I am the nearest relative to him (amongst the group)."

Heraclius said, "Bring him (Abu Sufyan) close to me and make his companions stand behind him." Abu Sufyan added, Heraclius told his translator to tell my companions that he wanted to put some questions to me regarding that man (The Prophet) and that if I told a lie they (my companions) should contradict me."

Abu Sufyan added, "By Allah! Had I not been afraid of my companions labeling me a liar, I would not have spoken the truth about the Prophet.

The first question he asked me about him was:

'What is his family status amongst you?'

I replied, 'He belongs to a good (noble) family amongst us.'

Heraclius further asked, 'Has anybody amongst you ever claimed the same (i.e. to be a Prophet) before him?'

I replied, 'No.'

He said, 'Was anybody amongst his ancestors a king?'

I replied, 'No.'

Heraclius asked, 'Do the nobles or the poor follow him?'

I replied, 'It is the poor who follow him.'

He said, 'Are his followers increasing decreasing (day by day)?'

I replied, 'They are increasing.'

He then asked, 'Does anybody amongst those who embrace his religion become displeased and renounce the religion afterwards?'

I replied, 'No.'

Heraclius said, 'Have you ever accused him of telling lies before his claim?'

I replied, 'No. '

Heraclius said, 'Does he break his promises?'

I replied, 'No. We are at truce with him but we do not know what he will do in it.' I could not find opportunity to say anything against him except that.

Heraclius asked, 'Have you ever had a war with him?'

I replied, 'Yes.'

Then he said, 'What was the outcome of the battles?'

I replied, 'Sometimes he was victorious and sometimes we.'

Heraclius said, 'What does he order you to do?'

I said, 'He tells us to worship Allah and Allah alone and not to worship anything along with Him, and to renounce all that our ancestors had said. He orders us to pray, to speak the truth, to be chaste and to keep good relations with our Kith and kin.'

Heraclius asked the translator to convey to me the following, I asked you about his family and your reply was that he belonged to a very noble family. In fact all the Apostles come from noble families amongst their respective peoples.

I questioned you whether anybody else amongst you claimed such a thing, your reply was in the negative. If the answer had been in the affirmative, I would have thought that this man was following the previous man's statement.

Then I asked you whether anyone of his ancestors was a king. Your reply was in the negative, and if it had been in the affirmative, I would have thought that this man wanted to take back his ancestral kingdom. I further asked whether he was ever accused of telling lies before he said what he said, and your reply was in the negative.

So I wondered how a person who does not tell a lie about others could ever tell a lie about Allah. I, then asked you whether the rich people followed him or the poor.

You replied that it was the poor who followed him. And in fact all the Apostle have been followed by this very class of people.

Then I asked you whether his followers were increasing or decreasing.

You replied that they were increasing, and in fact this is the way of true faith, till it is complete in all respects. I further asked you whether there was anybody, who, after embracing his religion, became displeased and discarded his religion.

Your reply was in the negative, and in fact this is (the sign of) true faith, when its delight enters the hearts, it mixes with it completely.

I asked you whether he had ever betrayed. You replied in the negative and likewise the Apostles never betray. Then I asked you what he ordered you to do.

You replied that he ordered you to worship Allah and Allah alone and not to worship any thing along with Him and forbade you to worship idols and ordered you to pray, to speak the truth and to be chaste.

If what you have said is true, he will very soon occupy this place underneath my feet and I knew it (from the scriptures) that he was going to appear but I did not know that he would be from you, and if I could reach him definitely, I would go immediately to meet him and if I were with him, I would certainly wash his feet.'

Heraclius then asked for the letter addressed by Allah's Apostle, which was delivered by Dihya to the Governor of Busra, who forwarded it to Heraclius to read.

The contents of the letter were as follows: "In the name of Allah the Beneficent, the Merciful (This letter is) from Muhammad the slave of Allah and His Apostle to Heraclius the ruler of Byzantine. Peace be upon him, who follows the right path. Furthermore I invite you to Islam, and if you become a Muslim you will be safe, and Allah will double your reward, and if you reject this invitation of Islam you will be committing a sin by misguiding your Arisiyin (peasants).

(And I recite to you Allah's Statement:)

'O people of the scripture! Come to a word common to you and us that we worship none but Allah and that we associate nothing in worship with Him, and that none of us shall take others as Lords beside Allah. Then, if they turn away, say: Bear witness that we are Muslims (those who have surrendered to Allah).' (3:64).

Abu Sufyan then added, "When Heraclius had finished his speech and had read the letter, there was a great hue and cry in the Royal Court.

So we were turned out of the court.

I told my companions that the question of Ibn-Abi-Kabsha (the Prophet Muhammad) has become so prominent that even the King of Bani Al-Asfar (Byzantine) is afraid of him.

Then I started to become sure that he (the Prophet) would be the conqueror in the near future till I embraced Islam (i.e. Allah guided me to it)."

The sub narrator adds, "Ibn An-Natur was the Governor of llya' (Jerusalem) and Heraclius was the head of the Christians of Sham.

Ibn An-Natur narrates that once while Heraclius was visiting ilya' (Jerusalem), he got up in the morning with a sad mood. Some of his priests asked him why he was in that mood? Heraclius was a foreteller and an astrologer.

He replied, 'At night when I looked at the stars, I saw that the leader of those who practice circumcision had appeared (become the conqueror).

Who are they who practice circumcision?'

The people replied, 'Except the Jews nobody practices circumcision, so you should not be afraid of them (Jews). 'Just Issue orders to kill every Jew present in the country.'

While they were discussing it, a messenger sent by the king of Ghassan to convey the news of Allah's Apostle to Heraclius was brought in. Having heard the news, he (Heraclius) ordered the people to go and see whether the messenger of Ghassan was circumcised. The people, after seeing him, told Heraclius that he was circumcised. Heraclius then asked him about the Arabs.

The messenger replied, 'Arabs also practice circumcision.'

(After hearing that) Heraclius remarked that sovereignty of the 'Arabs had appeared. Heraclius then wrote a letter to his friend in Rome who was as good as Heraclius in knowledge. Heraclius then left for Homs. (a town in Syrian and stayed there till he received the reply of his letter from his friend who agreed with him in his opinion about the emergence of the Prophet and the fact that he was a Prophet. On that Heraclius invited all the heads of the Byzantines to assemble in his palace at Homs. When they assembled, he ordered that all the doors of his palace be closed.

Then he came out and said, 'O Byzantines! If success is your desire and if you seek right guidance and want your empire to remain then give a pledge of allegiance to this Prophet (i.e. embrace Islam).'

(On hearing the views of Heraclius) the people ran towards the gates of the palace like onagers but found the doors closed.

Heraclius realized their hatred towards Islam and when he lost the hope of their embracing Islam, he ordered that they should be brought back in audience.

(When they returned) he said, 'What already said was just to test the strength of your conviction and I have seen it.' The people prostrated before him and became pleased with him, and this was the end of Heraclius's story (in connection with his faith).

Divine-Decree

It is narrated on the authority of Yahya b. Ya'mur that the first man who discussed about Divine-Decree in Basra was Ma'bad al-Juhani.

I along with Humaid b. 'Abdur-Rahman Himyari set out for prilgrimage or for 'Umrah and said: Should it so happen that we come into contact with one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) we shall ask him about what is talked about Taqdir (Division Decree).

Accidentally we came across Abdullah ibn Umar ibn al-Khattab, while he was entering the mosque. My companion and I surrounded him.

One of us (stood) on his right and the other stood on his left. I expected that my companion would authorize me to speak.

I therefore said: Abu Abdur Rahman! there have appeared some people in our land who recite the Holy Qur'an and pursue knowledge. And then after talking about their affairs, added: They (such people) claim that there is no such thing as Divine Decree and events are not predestined.

He (Abdullah ibn Umar) said: When you happen to meet such people tell them that I have nothing to do with them and they have nothing to do with me. And verily they are in no way responsible for my (belief).

Abdullah ibn Umar swore by Him (the Lord) (and said): If any one of them (who does not believe in the Divine Decree) had with him gold equal to the bulk of (the mountain) Uhud and then, spend it (in the way of Allah), Allah would not accept it unless he affirmed his faith in Divine Decree.

He further said: My father, Umar ibn al-Khattab, told me: One day we were sitting in the company of Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) when there appeared before us a man dressed in pure white clothes, his hair extraordinarily black. There were no signs of travel on him.

None amongst us recognized him.

At last he sat with the Apostle (peace be upon him) He knelt before him placed his palms on his thighs and said: Muhammad, inform me about al-Islam.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: al-Islam implies that you testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, and you establish prayer, pay Zakat, observe the fast of Ramadan, and perform pilgrimage to the (House) if you are solvent enough.

He (the inquirer) said: You have told the truth.

He (Umar ibn al-Khattab) said: It amazed us that he would put the question and then he would himself verify the truth.

He (the inquirer) said: Inform me about Iman (faith).

He (the Holy Prophet) replied: That you affirm your faith in Allah, in His angels, in His Books, in His Apostles, in the Day of Judgment, and you affirm your faith in the Divine Decree about good and evil.

He (the inquirer) said: You have told the truth.

He (the inquirer) again said: Inform me about al-Ihsan (performance of good deeds). He (the Holy Prophet) said: That you worship Allah as if you are seeing Him, for though you don't see Him, He, verily, sees you.

He (the enquirer) again said: Inform me about the hour (of the Doom). He (the Holy Prophet) remarked: One who is asked knows no more than the one who is inquiring (about it).

He (the inquirer) said: Tell me some of its indications.

He (the Holy Prophet) said: That the slave-girl will give birth to her mistress and master, that you will find barefooted, destitute goat-herds vying with one another in the construction of magnificent buildings.

He (the narrator, Umar ibn al-Khattab) said: Then he (the inquirer) went on his way but I stayed with him (the Holy Prophet) for a long while.

He then, said to me: Umar, do you know who this inquirer was?

I replied: Allah and His Apostle knows best.

He (the Holy Prophet) remarked: He was Gabriel (the angel). He came to you in order to instruct you in matters of religion.

Seeking refuge with 'Allah

Narrated 'Aisha:

The Prophet used to say >
"O Allah! I seek refuge with You from laziness, from geriatric old age, from being in debt, and from committing sins. O Allah! I seek refuge with You from the punishment of the Fire, the afflictions of the grave, the punishment in the grave, and the evil of the affliction of poverty and from the evil of the affliction caused by Dajjal. O Allah! Wash away my sins with the water of snow and hail, and cleanse my heart from the sins as a white garment is cleansed of filth, and let there be a far away distance between me and my sins as You have set far away the East and the West from each other."

Importance of Halal - Part two

Of the many commands and injuctions laid down by Allah, many relate to the personal life of a believer in terms of their food, drink, clothing, etc.

All details are covered in the teachings of the Qur'an and Sunnah.

Regrettably, many Muslims view these injunctions as insignificant, often leading them to pay little attention towards food and drink they consume, failing to take heed of plentiful warnings of the fatal-consequences.

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri:

The Prophet said, "The (planet of) earth will be a bread on the Day of Resurrection, and (Allah) will topple turn it with His Hand like anyone of you topple turns a bread with his hands while (preparing the bread) for a journey, and that bread will be the entertainment for the people of Paradise."

A man from the Jews came (to the Prophet) and said, "May The Beneficent (Allah) bless you, O Abul Qasim! Shall I tell you of the entertainment of the people of Paradise on the Day of Resurrection?"

The Prophet said, "Yes."

The Jew said, "The earth will be a bread," as the Prophet had said.

Thereupon the Prophet looked at us and smiled till his premolar-tooth became visible. Then the Jew further said, "Shall I tell you of the udm (additional food taken with bread) they will have with the bread?"

He added, "That will be Balam and Nun." The people asked, "What is that?" He said, "It is an ox and a fish, and seventy thousand people will eat of the caudate lobe (i.e. extra lobe) of their livers."

Allah, through his grace, has presented within his chosen-religion, an-ideal way of life. This-way provides the follower with guidance.

'This day I have perfected your religion for you, and completed My favour over you, and I have chosen for you Islam as your religion.' ( al-Ma'idah 5:3 )

Through Allah's infinite-wisdom that He has, ordained-upon the believers directives which lead to eternal-bliss, but also to numerous-benefits

Abu Tha'laba al-Khushani reported:

I came to Allah's Messenger and said: Allah's Messenger, we are in the land of the People of the Book, we eat in their utensils, and live in a hunting region.

I hunt with the help of my bow, with my trained dog, or untrained dog.

So inform me what is lawful (Halal) for us out of that.

He (the Holy-Prophet) said: Regarding what you have mentioned of the fact that you live in the land belonging to thePeople of the Book, and so you eat in their utensils, if you can get utensils other than theirs, then don't eat in them; but if you do not find any, then wash them.

And regarding what you have mentioned about (your-living) in a hunting region, what you hunt with the help of your bow, recite the name of Allah (while shooting an arrow) and then eat.

What you catch with the help of your trained dog, recite the name of Allah and then eat it, and what you get with the help of your untrained dog, (if you find it alive) and slaughter it (according to Shari'ah), eat it.

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet said, "Allah created Adam in his complete shape and form (directly), sixty cubits (about 30 meters) in height.

When He created him, He said (to him), "Go and greet that group of angels sitting there, and listen to what they say in reply to you, for that will be your greeting, and of your off-spring." Adam (went and) said, 'As-Salamu alaikum (Peace be upon you).'

They replied, 'AsSalamu-'Alaika wa Rahmatullah (Peace and Allah's Mercy be on you).

The Prophet added 'So whoever will enter Paradise, will be of the shape & form of Adam. Since then the creation of Adam's (offspring) (i.e. stature of human beings is being diminished continuously) to the present time."

Artist threatened over gay-photos

The Dutch were debating the limits of expression, after an artist who photographed gay men wearing masks of the Prophet was forced into hiding.

Her story is a reminder of the tensions that have put the Netherlands and other European countries on the front-line. This leaves Hera, 34, in no doubt that she is in real danger. "They say, 'Now you are locked in your home'."

She said that by photographing gay Iranian exiles in masks of Muhammad, and Ali, his son-in-law, she wanted to expose a "hypocritical" attitude towards homosexuality.

'Ata' b. Abi Rabih said: Ibn Abbas said to me: May I show you a woman of Paradise?

I said: Yes.

He said: Here is this dark-complexioned woman.

She came to Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) and said: I am suffering from falling sickness and I become naked; supplicate Allah for me, whereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Show endurance as you can do and there would be Paradise for you and, if you desire, I supplicate Allah that He may cure you.

She said: I am prepared to show endurance (but the unbearable trouble is) that I become naked, so supplicate Allah that He should not let me become naked, so he supplicated for her.

One of the strongest underlying factors behind the depravity of the nafs, and the fury of its tyranny over you, relates to your failure in acknowledging the people of sincerity and their rank. Rather, you allow yourself to be confused.

You say, "I do not revere such people... I do not follow in their footsteps... I do not mention them often; neither do I care to study much about them... What suffices me is the sunnah only - the sunnah suffices me."

Many young Muslims are secret alcohol drinkers despite it being prohibited in Islam, according to a study by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation in UK.

The report highlighted "significant levels of alcohol consumption" within Britain's Muslim communities. Much of this drinking takes place in parks.

"Informants described alcohol as giving them confidence, particuluarly with women, and as an escape from the stresses of everyday family life."

Narrated 'Umar bin Al-Khattab:

During the lifetime of the Prophet there was a man called 'Abdullah whose nickname was Donkey, and he used to make Allah's Apostle laugh.

The Prophet lashed him because of drinking (alcohol). One-day he was brought to the Prophet on the same charge and was lashed.

On that, a man among the people said, "O Allah, curse him ! How frequently he has been brought (to the Prophet on such a charge)!" The Prophet said,

"Do not curse him, for by Allah, I know for he loves Allah and His Apostle."

Paradise and Hell

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet came out after the sun had declined and offered the Zuhr prayer (in congregation).

After finishing it with Taslim, he stood on the pulpit and mentioned the Hour and mentioned there would happen great events before it.

Then he said, "Whoever wants to ask me any question, may do so, for by Allah, you will not ask me about anything but I will inform you of its answer as long as I am at this place of mine."

On this, the Ansar wept violently, and Allah's Apostle kept on saying, "Ask Me! " Then a man got up and asked, ''Where will my entrance be, O Allah's Apostle?"

The Prophet said, "(You will go to) the Fire."

Then 'Abdullah bin Hudhaifa got up and asked, "Who is my father, O Allah's Apostle?" The Prophet replied, "Your father is Hudhaifa."

The Prophet then kept on saying (angrily), "Ask me! Ask me!"

'Umar then knelt on his knees and said, "We have accepted Allah as our Lord and Islam as our religion and Muhammad as an Apostle."

Allah's Apostle became quiet when 'Umar said that. Then Allah's Apostle said, "By Him in Whose Hand my life is, Paradise and Hell were displayed before me across this wall while I was praying, and I never saw such good and evil as I have seen today."
