Pop Smoke Developer Blog & ModDB Awards

Our Developer Website 'Pop Smoke Games' is now live and is home to our development blog which will showcase general updates on Pop Smoke, the team currently developing 'In Country: Vietnam' for 'Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad'.

We get a lot of interest and various questions asking 'what we are working on' and 'if we are still active'. The answer is always YES! but we are aiming to be more professional with our press releases and media output related to 'In Country: Vietnam'. This is partly because many of us have worked on past projects that showed a lot of content and material way too early in development, and for one reason or another, we weren't able to keep that feature in game.

We are not intending this to be a formal PR outlet, do not expect really awesome new videos of finished products or anything, as well as some things we spend time on might not pan out so won't make it to the final release.

It's also that time of year again. You might have noticed that it's the 10th annual ‘Mod of the Year’ awards, celebrating all that is great about the modding community.

Even though we are still in the middle of development we would very much like to be featured as one of the 'best upcoming mods'. So if you like what you've seen of 'In Country: Vietnam' so far please vote for us and help spread the word!

Give Your Desktop the Vietnam Treatment

Whilst you are waiting for our next update we have prepared some new wallpapers so that you can outfit your PC desktop and get that proper Vietnam vibe going.

So check it out! There are now two official wallpapers available, 'Logo' and 'Take a Tour' in various sizes.

Red Orchestra 2 - Released!

It's here, after a small delay Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad is finally upon us and is available both at retail and digitally on Steam. We at 'In Country: Vietnam' are excited by the release of RO 2 and we hope you enjoy it as much as we have enjoyed playing the beta.

In anticipation of the imminent release of the RO2 SDK we have expanded the Pop Smoke team with fresh talent. Of course we are always looking to improve and if you think you have something to offer then please contact us via the usual methods.

So until the next update, see you on the battlefield!

Red Orchestra 2 Release Date Announced!

We at 'In Country: Vietnam' are very excited by Tripwire Interactive’s big announcement this week. The wait is nearly over! – Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad will be released on 30th August 2011.

We have all thoroughly enjoyed participating in the beta and getting hands on Red Orchestra 2 at long last. The wait for the 'Friends and Family Beta' has been well worth it and we are particularly excited at the new possibilities Red Orchestra 2 offers.

If you wish to become involved with In Country: Vietnam – now is the perfect time to get in touch. So if you think you can contribute, drop us a line.

In Country: Vietnam & Rising Storm at GDC

Both highly anticipated MODs Rising Storm and In Country: Vietnam have made an appearance at this years Game Developers Conference 2011 courtesy of Tripwire Interactive. As well as both MODs being featured on their own poster in the Tripwire booth alongside Killing Floor and the Ball, In Country: Vietnam also had the honour of our recent teaser trailer being played to the passing crowds. This is further demonstration of the fantastic support Tripwire Interactive is offering it's MOD teams.

Welcome to In Country: Vietnam

Hello and welcome to the first ever In Country: Vietnam press release!

In Country is an upcoming Vietnam era war modification for Tripwire Interactive's eagerly awaited Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad. In Country: Vietnam is under development by Pop Smoke and will extend the existing World War 2 setting of Red Orchestra into the second half of the 20th century to include the intensity of the small-unit infantry-centric combat that was common during the Vietnam Conflict.

Pop Smoke consists of industry professionals and modding veterans who began working on the project earlier this year and are currently looking for talented individuals to join the team. Visit our recruitment page if you think you have something special to bring to the team. Any specialties are welcome to apply but we are especially looking for level designers, environmental artists and animators.

Alongside all of the planning, design and recruitment we have already completed is the construction of our website and forum which are now open to the public! We haven’t released any media as of yet but we shall have a media update soon highlighting some of our early progress. In the meantime head over to the about page to get some more in depth information on the project and register on our forum.
