Color Pursuits Continue at My Bridge

The weather was exceptionally beautiful today. Sunny (ahhh, glorious sun!), Blues Skies, and Clouds. Altogether lovely! So after my chiro appt I snuck over to the bridge to capture some shots to see how winter was looking over there. I am happy and I found a nice color shot for my 365 project. Yep, today’s color is black!Here are the rest from the day!Lots of melty snow on the wood planks.

Color Posting Continues

Thanks to color week on the 365 Project, here are more color leftovers so to speak. I just couldn’t stop taking advantage of the rainbow goldfish to shoot a few extras and of course share them here. I just loved how vibrant they looked and all the fun colors. The funny thing is, I never buy these outside of my desire to take pictures of them. My kids just don’t need the extra dye that they offer, but on this rare occasion I am sure they won’t complain about eating them all up!

Enough goldfish shots? I am sure, lets see what I come up with today!

Color Pursuits

The assignment this week for my 365 Project is color, which you know is one of my main passions out here on my In Hot Pursuit of Color blog. Today, there were just too many choices of color, so my extras that I just had to share them out here.

Today we were in Wadena visiting a family member and saw many amazing murals everywhere. This one specifically was huge!!

Here are some close ups of it.Indeed lots of color in Wadena! I almost think I need to go back again and find some more. On the way home though I had to snatch a shot of this. How would you like to live in the town of “Bertha”? Yah, me neither?

Hanging Out

I was hanging out with my youngest while my oldest was getting her hair beautified. He went to the post office and even the grocery store with me. I tell you, we certainly didn’t do exciting things, but he does it with a good attitude. Just a few shots of the snow. So pretty today!

Fall Photoshoot with the “N” Family

I had the chance to do a photoshoot with a fellow photographer and her family. It was a beautiful day and the family was a blast to photograph. We captured some really fun pictures of the family that day! On top of it, it was one of the last beautiful days before the temps dropped down and the sun just didn’t feel as warm.

This one was fun, the dad had thought it would be fun to have the rest of the family posed and have his youngest daughter run through the scene. This is what she loves to do, so it wasn’t hard to convince her. It was pretty fun to get that shot!

What a beautiful family! I can’t wait to meet the new one when he/she is born soon. Thanks for the chance to spend some time with your family Mrs. N!

Girls Retreat - Journalistic Shots

Along with a number of other amazing photographers, I was able to do a photo journalist shoot for a girls retreat that our church was sponsoring. It was so much fun to capture all the girls while they experienced all that the retreat had to offer them.

The girls had spa treatments that involved getting their hair done, nails, makeup, and massage. All while listening to an awesome band and enjoying yummy treats.

After the spa treatments the girls moved onto the next phase which involved a fun fashion show where six girls were given a makeover and then shared their new styles on the runway.

As challenging as low light settings are, when the lighting happens to cooperate, you can get some fun shots.

After the show and few other things there was a time of worship, after I snapped a few shots, of the band and then took off for the night. They still had many moments planned for the girls that consisted of more worship and a great message and then the pizza party.

I returned the next morning for the prize drawings and a few more games to start the day. Eating bananas with your feet, yep, glad to be the photographer and not the girl playing the game!

This look she is making…it is because she is very afraid of the next challenge.

Yep, the girls had to eat a blended happy meal…yuck!Not one girl could fully drink a whole glass because they were just plain old gross! ewww!!That part of the event was over and the girls moved on to the next phase. The Dance Off!

They also do a panel with women and then men that the girls in the audience can ask candid questions. The girls very attentive to every step of the way.

Another skit and then moving on to the worship and message part of the afternoon.

It was time for me to take off for home. I would have loved to have heard Adam’s message. It was certainly off to a good start when I slipped out.

I pray the girls had a great time and drew closer to the Lord over the amazing weekend!

Out for a Skate

We did a quick family skate tonight before dinner. It didn’t last too long because it was a bit cold at 10 degrees outside, wind and a little snow blowing. The light was on the low side as the time was closer to 5:00 pm. I was trying out a friend’s 85mm 1.8 lens and sure enough it handled the low light situation like a champ, yay! Sooo gotta get me one of these lenses!

Time to Sled

Finally, just enough snow to do a little sledding on our tiny hills. The kids were really happy about it! They went up and down a million times and smiled every time. Maybe soon we will make it over to the big sledding hill.

While we were at the eye doctor the other day, I snapped a few shots of a bouquet of flowers they had on the counter. Lets just say that it was challenging to actually see if I had captured anything good since. I had just had my eyes dilated and couldn’t see the view finder, let alone the screen up close. Thankfully I somehow captured a few.

Winter Drive by Shooting

The vastness of the blue skies yesterday was mesmerizing.

My partner in crime while I was shooting. Which in turn would gain me the occasional, “Can you move mom so I can get this shot.” Hmmmmm.

The temperature was just right and the sky was amazing. So glad I had a chance to get out a little and capture the Minnesota Winter. We haven’t had much to capture of it up to this point, so I was thankful to get a little glimpse of it for now.

Serious Senior Shoot

I was thankful to be asked to do C’s Senior shoot last year. He is an amazing kid and I was blessed to capture him. If you notice that he is serious in most of his pictures, well, it is because he is. Most of the time. He does smile and laugh when in the right moment, but it isn’t his nature and you know what, that is okay. It doesn’t stop him from being an amazing kid.

Walking the Day Before the Cold Came

It was such an amazing day. Shocking that we could play outside and enjoy the fifty degree weather. ALL before it turned to below ten degrees, snowy and windy. It truly is hard to believe it looked like this just 3 days ago!

The “H” Family

Like I said, lots of shoots this summer ! This one was one that we worked really hard to coordinate the date and time. It miraculously worked, but we were fighting a bit with a drizzly rain. Thankfully the rain didn’t stop us from getting some fun pictures. They were great to work with. Thanks “H” Family!Momma in her favorite place in the house!
A family that plays together, stays together! This is one family that knows how to play and have fun. You will do nothing but laugh and enjoy yourself when you are with them!

A Niece Photoshoot

I had the great opportunity to take my niece’s pictures while she was up visiting from out state where she is going to college. It was so fun to take her pictures and her boyfriend too. They were willing to do just about anything, so we headed out to my little town of Cold Spring to get some fun pictures that were more “urban”. What has still been amazing for Minnesota is that we took these outside and we could do it with no coats AND it wasn’t terrible. Yay! Of course now it is very chilly outside and snowing… Anyway, I love how they turned out!! Thanks Sarah for giving me the chance to capture you guys together!

Project 365

At the beginning of 2011 I decided that it was time to do a Project 365 to increase my photography skills. I wasn’t alone in the adventure and surely it was a great experience. I have been posting those shots specifically over here and here and on Facebook for those that know me there.

You just scrolled through all of these, thanks! I just shared three of my favorite shots from each month on the 2011 365 project. Some months I could only find 3 favorites, some of the other ones, I had a hard time choosing. It was an amazing ride and I am soooooo glad I was on it. Truly fun to watch my photography change and improve as time progressed.
Because I liked it so much, I am on the project again for 2012. The nice thing is that I am not alone on it again and this time we are doing it with weekly assignments. The first week was shoes:

Grandbaby Photoshoot

A past co-workers of my husband’s took me up on a photo shoot and had it for her grandbabies. She has some cuties and it was fun to try and wrangle them into beautiful pictures. Sometimes you just have to chase and get their attention harder than others, but I will have to say, totally worth it for their precious smiles!

Summer Photoshoot–Baby L

I realized that in my hurry from this summer that I hadn’t been posting every single shoot I did. It is nice and quiet now so I am going to play a little catch up and see about posting what I have.

The hurry came this summer when we made an announcement that we were raising money to adopt a child from China. We were super excited to finally be moving forward and encouraged too that we can be raising money by doing the things we love. My photography with ihpoc Photography and my husband through his musical abilities with his recording studio. If anyone wants to record in the studio, they just need to make a donation to our adoption cause, same goes to the photography. We been having a lot of fun raising money and are truly blessed by everyone’s generosity. We are currently about 1/5 of the way to our goals for adoption. We are so excited about it and can’t wait to get further along in the process.

Photo Assignment - Christmas Lights

I would have to say that the hardest camera club assignment to date has officially been Christmas Lights at night. Wowzer, it is hard. On top of it, taking out a tripod and putting it in front of someone’s house didn’t seem much like a stalker…yah right! I rested it on my car door and did my best or even hand held it…can you believe it?! Me either, except it was true. I was trying to keep it simple. In the end this is about all I came up with that day.

Hope you liked it. I don’t plan to do it again anytime soon!

Dining at Dickies

I was running errands with my daughter the other day and decided that eating at Dickies that day would be great. Seriously, I love it there. The food is fantastic, my daughter ate for free, and the wood burning smell…made me feel so at home. Indeed a best ever moment for my daughter and I!

Flowers

My husband surprised me with a delivery of flowers to my door last week to wish me a Merry Christmas. I was so excited not only for the love that it represents, but also for the photographic opportunity that it gave me. As I am now prone to saying, Bonus!!

Lets just say there are just a few of the hundreds of pictures I took pictures of in this past week. I will see if I put some more out here. I expect you will tire of them long before I do.

A Wedding in October

I was the second shooter in October for a wedding along side Mercy with Custom Design and Art. I took a ton of pictures, but I just wanted to share a few of my favorites that I shot that day. As usual, I hung out with the guys and took some pics of them finishing getting ready and hanging out before the wedding. Then I helped Mercy with the gals. The ceremony was next of course and then we moved on to the reception. I really love capturing the story behind a couple during their wedding day.

This one was my all time favorite from the day! Love it!!!

Did you see it!?! YEP, SNOW!

I know that there is no promise of this snow staying, but it came anyway and I am happy! Can you see my smiling face? Oh I wish you could, I am so happy about it! I am looking forward to the continued use of my 60mm macro lens. It sure does make shooting snow a whole new experience! My biggest fascination is that it is fluffy and yet it has all kinds of sharp edges to see.
