Sometimes fashion has it’s day in court and it’s not always great they win some or lose. It involves a major upset and trying to prove a point on the company or designer’s fault. I’ve been interested in the way fashion meets lawsuits for years. And over the last five years there’s been some big fashion lawsuits, between designers and copyright infringement. 

They’re all working under one thing, copying or suing it plays a part within the fashion industry. Which isn’t always easy to deal with and so I wanted to bring awareness to this one that’s been in the news lately. It’s kind of Juicy and plays a big part if your into shopping at this store. But I think if it happened before with another celeb then maybe it was time to bring some attention to the issue.

~ Here’s The Low-Down On The Costly Lawsuit Between Rihanna & Topshop ~

 Topshop is known for creating shirts or featuring shirts from other unknown designers that include statement graphic pics. Sometimes they include concerts images, artist, prints and celebs images so it’s always been a matter of street style then high fashion.

But recently they’ve came under fire for using one photo from the We Found Love video which is one of my fave songs and probably everyone’s.  

The overall issue at hand deals with licensing and the way copyright laws affect the artist as a whole. What I’ve gotten from the case so far, apparently this photo wasn’t one of her faves, it was considered unflattering and didn’t gain her approval.

Plus they didn’t ask for her permission to use the photo, and the shirt alone isn’t up to part in quality (aka cheap material). Since it’s owned by the photographer they thought it could be used, and since it was taken in public. Yet here’s the off issue: Topshop supposedly brought the photo from the photographer but ”They do not pay the artist licensing fees.” (Interesting)

But it wasn’t okay because of the following she said “It’s the principle. Rihanna believed they are taking advantage of artists, that it’s just exploitation and what they are doing is wrong.” Overall it’s a case based in the U.K and their laws differ from ours regarding this type of lawsuit mainly they believe: That copyright of a photograph is owned by the photographer, not the person in the picture.

Of course these claims are indeed shocking and will be interesting to watch within the months. The big thing is how much she’s suing them for ~ a cool ($5 Million) if your following in the U.K it’s £3.5 Million.

I’m no lawyer but I often questioned how they splatter certain celebs on shirts? It’s always been something I wondered about, I scan shopping sites all the time and see shops like Urban Outfitters and Forever 21 and ASOS featuring certain people or images.

It’s stunning to know that others had issues with licensing of their image. Yet this lawsuit might make other shopping sites cautious on screen printing famous people or concert images. This might always be an issue but it’s going to be interesting how this plays out in court since it was filed in March.

May has got to be one of the hottest fashion months along with September. Because this set of pics are all featuring one amazing model this month. The world of modeling has a way of giving just enough fashion candy without overdoing it. And the newest model of the moment is creating something only fashion power players would call “High Fashion”.

Sui He is rocking both editions of Harper’s Bazaar May US & Hong Kong issue in a fierce way. This way I had to post these pics because their done in striking yet amusing way. It’s all about giving couture an street view attitude, which is customary for us to want to wear these gowns. But the cool way their photographed sends us all on a night fashion hunt.

Recently the community of Asian models within the fashion industry, have grown completely and I think that’s a great thing. As a believer I love seeing all cultures working in the fashion industry even though it’s taking some time to improve. The industry is still trying and that’s always a good thing. It has some ways to go before they’ll acknowledge more models of color. But until then I’ll accept the improvement that’s happening now within the industry.

Moving along I’m giving this Picture Lust a high ranking along with many others, because I’m so in love with the styling and overall story each collection of pics give off. The first set is all soft yet alluring and couture friendly. The second set is all daring, mysterious, and a bit dark but the make-up and lighting wins by far.

Finally something trendy to look forward to in the summer, that’s giving us a uneven look. Of course this skirt isn’t boring like other skirts seen lately it has major edge. Plus it shows off the strongest areas once the season heat hits.

Overall I love scouting trends and finding out ways to style each trend the way you want to. So with this trend we have to talk about how all over the place it’s been. The Asymmetric Wrap Skirts is an interesting take on the old wrap skirts. Because their a bit shorter and cut in a way only fashion can understand.

With it’s return on the runways last season, designer’s made sure it’s polished architectural design appealed to us. Indeed it has in an triumph way without adding any wild elements.

There’s a new look hitting the style waves, and it’s revving up to be a little pain with some gain. It’s time to show the world you’ve got game within the online fashion quarters. Meaning you’re no sucker to those hot sneakers, and bulky sweat shirts, now we’ve got something sleek to wear. All thanks to one of the coolest shopping site Nasty Gal, for bringing in the new way to exercise. 

Every month or season they come out with trendy themes to showcase their new collections that’s coming. Which brought up inspired looks from the runways. So the looks gave off an Alexander Wang meets Isabel Marant feeling.

But the styling alone makes it a twist of basketball charm, and track star maven. It’s colors and mixture of fitness with fashion is a hefty trend that’s big right now. Last year it made it’s way back, because of the Olympics and now it’s showcased all over the place.

Yet this look-book got casual with chic written all over it, and a lot of style attitude which is what the game’s all about.

With the soft mixes of toughness, kicked the bold yet simple accessories as must-haves.

I’ve seen these pics all over Tumblr and wanted to showcase it plus, I love that striped dress and those white wedges and those ripped boyfriend jeans. It’s a great look-book and I thought it looked better then some fashion editorials I’ve seen because of the funky styling.
