In addition, its 9.7-inch multitouch display has shown a surprising resilience to beating so it should be able to withstand your weight, right? Right? Actually – no.

But even if iPad’s aluminum alloy had not bent under your weight, its glass display would have definitely shattered to pieces the moment you stepped on it. We’re not even mentioning one “tiny” problem: iPad lacks weight sensors, remember?

The typography and icons are tiny, and they fade into the background of the display. Opening an app requires two clicks, one to select the app and one to open it. Pressing twice gets old fast, especially when you’re used to just about every other touchscreen device out there with one-click access to apps.
• MULTIMEDIA:
  N97 mini is good enough to replace your music player thanks to the good music player, wide format support, excellent audio quality, good quality supplied earphones and large memory size. The only thing missing is an FM transmitter, which would have enabled the user to play the music files on, say, a car radio. The music player supports a wide variety of file types including MP3, WMA, WAV, eAAC+, MP4, and M4V formats. It has no visual effects or album art scrolling .Nevertheless, it is quite easy to use with the display’s large touch controls. Overall, music playback sounded very good. The video player is equally simple, but good nonetheless. However, you don’t get DivX or XviD support out of the box.
• OTHER FEATURES:
  The onboard 8GB of memory is less than the original N97’s 32GB, but slot in a microSD card and you’ll have up to 24GB to play with.in the N97 mini, Nokia has fitted a smaller 1200 mAh battery.Battery life has proven slightly better than what you’d expect from a current-gen smartphone, capable of going two days with regular use (and judicious use of the peak/off-peak push email settings). Nokia quote up to 430 minutes of GSM talktime (240 minutes of WCDMA) or up to 320 hours of GSM standby (310 hours of WCDMA).

N97 mini would really be a killer buy when the price has dropped a bit and when the phone has received a couple of firmware updates.UK stores have the N97 mini at £429 and the original at £449.The Mini N97 has a strong set of specs, a variety of multimedia features that work well, and a solid design. And the addition of flick scrolling is definitely a big improvement to navigation. Unfortunately, the Mini is hindered by the Symbian S60 OS. It simply lacks the silky user experience we’ve grown accustomed to in touchscreen devices.

Know what you want:

Ask yourself if you’re a passenger or a driver. That is, do you like to let the camera make the decisions, or do you want to learn how to make photos according to your inner artist’s eye? If you’re the former, most compact and subcompact cameras will take good care of you for a reasonable price. If you’re in the latter group, you’ll want a camera that offers more manual control and an excellent lens.

Write out a list of all the possible uses of your camera. Think hard: Because of its convenience and versatility, you may find yourself using your digital every day, even if you haven’t used a film camera in years.

If the camera is a gift for someone else, consider their lifestyle and list their potential uses for the camera

Determine Your Budget :

First, the good news: For less than $500 you can now get a digital point-and-shoot camera that delivers far better image quality than a point-and-shoot film camera.Over the evolution of film cameras, they’ve split into an array of categories according to their design and purpose. Digital cameras fall into the same major categories, with one exception.

1)Point and shoot cameras:

• PRICE: $75-$500
• Low-cost, easily portable and compact.
• Live-preview LCD-screen instead of traditional up-to-the-eye viewfinder.
• Fixed-lens (non-interchangeable).
• Require minimal photographic experienced and are meant for general use, family shots, scenic shots, or casual artistic experimentation.

2)Bridge cameras :

• PRICE: $400-$1,000
• A category unique to digital cameras.
• Combine the convenience of point and shoot models (live-preview, compactness, lower price) with some of the added quality of DSLRs (large, powerful lens and good quality traditional viewfinder).

3)DSLRs:

• PRICE: $600-$8,000
• Stands for digital single-lens reflex
• Exceptionally accurate "parallax-free" optical viewfinder
• High quality, interchangeable lenses.

What kind of memory card does it take?

Don’t buy digital cameras with XD memory cards. Bla bla bla…, it’s better… but let’s think along the line of practicality.

Almost every single laptop takes SD cards directly into the machine without any extra gadgets.

It’s incredibly handy to just be able to pop out the memory card and insert it into almost any new laptop on the market today to grab all the photos. Even my HP Mini 1000 notebook has a spot for SD cards.

Megapixels don’t matter.

Okay, what I mean is, megapixels aren’t as important as most people think. Many base their buying decisions solely on the megapixel count, but it’s not the feature most can take advantage of.

There are point-and-shoot cameras offering 10 megapixels, but for most users, it’s no different than a 5 megapixel camera. Megapixels are only important if you want to produce large prints (very large). 5 megapixels is enough for a print up to 11 x 14. If you aren’t going to make prints larger than that, the extra megapixels don’t offer any benefits.

Sensor size:

The bigger the sensor, the less noise you’ll see in the pictures your camera takes — and the better it will do with low-light shots. That’s a big part of why DSLRs take better photos than compact and super-compact cameras. If you’re a really serious shooter, you’ll want a full-frame sensor camera like the Canon 5D Mark II — the sensors in these cameras are the same size as a frame of 35mm film, which improves image quality. It also lets you use the full field of view of lenses meant for 35mm cameras.

Focal length and zoom:

Forget zoom factor (3x or 5x) — what you really want to look at is focal length, usually rendered in terms of its "35mm equivalent," or what it would be comparable to in a 35mm film camera. And concentrate on the wide end of the spectrum, not the telephoto end: A 24-120mm lens and a 30-150mm lens are both 5x zoom lenses (the longest focal length is five times bigger than the smallest, meaning a fivefold increase in magnification) but the one that starts at 24mm has a wider field of view. That can make a big difference when shooting landscapes or groups of people indoors.

Digital Zoom!

After trying to convince you with megapixels, digital camera vendors will next try to sell you on X’s. As in "200X Digital Zoom!" Don’t fall for this, either.

As with point-and-shoot film cameras, almost all digital cameras come equipped with zoom lenses. Unfortunately, they also come with digital zoom features, which create a "virtual" zoom effect by digitally enlarging and cropping your image so that it looks like it was shot with a longer lens.

These features are almost always terrible. In fact, no matter what kind of camera you get, one of your first actions should be to turn off its digital zoom. If you really need a digital zoom effect, you’ll get better results by blowing up the image yourself using your favorite image editing application.I would highly recommend that you only take into consideration the ‘optical zoom’ when making a decision about which camera to buy.

What batteries does it take?

Hopefully not AAA or AA batteries. coz they are history.

Those can be handy in the sense that you just need to carry extra batteries to pop in new power, but for me it’s annoying to have to deal with 2 or 3 batteries just to charge your camera.

And it’s wasteful if you don’t use rechargeable AAA or AA batteries.

Enter the Li-ion batteries, or Lithium ion batteries. Fancy way of saying, it’s a battery pack that is rechargeable. You pop it into a charger, and into a wall… and it charges. Simple as that.

In the end, you may not be able to say exactly why you like one camera over another. It’s usually a combination of image quality, feel, and "cool" factor. Before you make that purchase, though, be sure that you’ve made your decision based on how well the camera fits your needs, and not on marketing hype. A higher-priced camera is not necessarily better, in terms of image quality or your needs. If you ask yourself the questions presented here, you should end up with a camera that delivers quality you like and features that are appropriate to the digital imaging power that you need.

Remember, the best camera for you is the one you learn how to use — when the magic moment happens, you don’t want to miss it because you’re fiddling with the knobs and on-screen menus.

  PCWORLD claims that HTC HD2 is the best windows mobile phone as of yet.The massive, full touchscreen device boasts impressive specs: a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, a generous 4.3-inch, 800 x 480 capacitive WVGA touchscreen display, a 5 megapixel camera, GPS, and lots of other bells and whistles. But the centerpiece here isn’t the hardware, it’s HTC’s totally revamped user interface, Sense, which doesn’t just hide Windows Mobile 6.5 — it all but zaps it out of existence.HTC has moved on from its TouchFLO interfaces into decidedly more mature and sophisticated territory with Sense.   it’s 1080p, 240Hz, local-dimming LED, WiFi-ready (Netflix streaming! Samsung app store!), and supports 3D with active shutter glasses. It’s about as thick as a No. 2 pencil (0.3 inches) and like Toshiba’s Cell TV, can upconvert 2D programming up into the third dimension.

  The true pièce de résistance is the full color touchscreen remote. It communicates via WiFi and infrared, works as the middle man to stream video from your PC to the TV, and—here’s the best part—lets you watch TV in the palm of your hand while something else is playing on the screen.

However, unlike the nook, which separates content between its two screens, the Alex allows users to transfer content being viewed on the bottom color screen up to the larger e-ink display for better viewing.This display is also your main input device for the Alex–you can use it to navigate through your books from the main Library screen, navigate through the table of contents, add bookmarks and annotations, record your own voice notes, and even use Android’s standard music player with the Alex’s two built-in speakers to put on some reading music. Hardware buttons on each side of the screen handle page-turning functions.

  What if you could connect your laptop to an HDTV or business display, without the hassle of fumbling around with HDMI cables or having your range be limited by the length of one. AT CES 2010, Intel allowed exactly that with its Wireless Display technology (or WiDi), and this could very well be the hottest sleeper technology of the year.Wireless display is nothing new, though. Wisair, a company that offers an array of wireless USB products, is already shipping devices that can wirelessly extend your laptop to an external display. It uses Ultra Wide Band (UWB) technology in a receiver (with HDMI and VGA), connected to an HDTV to make this all possible.Interestingly enough, only three laptops were announced with WiDi technology built in, including the Toshiba E205 and Sony VAIO S. Each laptop will be bundled with the Netgear box, so you have all the technology in place, for one seemingly low price.

On the CES showfloor, Panasonic is displaying a 152-inch television that dwarfs most any TV you’ve ever seen.

A 152-inch 3D TV is pretty big, alright (although not as huge as the largest 2D HDTVs, mind you), so big that it required its own makeshift, 100-seat theater on the CES show floor.Panasonic 152-inch HDTV is a full HD 3D plasma screen television offers a staggering resolution of 4,096 x 2,160. The TV features a plasma display panel that makes use of Panasonic’s super-efficient quadruple luminous efficiency technology.

Compared to the conventional full HD panels, the technology allows the new panel to achieve the same brilliance at about one-fourth speed. The device also delivers 5,000,000:19 contrast ratio, accurate color reproduction and subtle gradation tone.

The new 152-inch plasma uses the full HD x 2 frame sequential method that displays time sequential images, alternately reproducing discrete full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) images for the left and right eyes on the display frame by frame. It also features cross-talk reduction that enables clear images.

The ultra-large 152-inch Full HD 3D PDP, which delivers true 3D movie-theater experience, follows the development of the industry’s first 103-inch Class size Full HD 3D PDP Panasonic introduced in 2008 and the home theater size 50-inch Class Full HD 3D PDP in 2009.

With specifications straight out of Star Trek, this just might be the device to propel the Google Android operating system ahead of iPhone 3G S.Out of the box, the device is pure eye candy, with a black or silver metal-and-plastic body, crisp 3-inch touch screen and slightly curved QWERTY keyboard that slides out smoothly with a satisfying click.

There are still some drawbacks, including that the XPERIA X10 will have Donut when it launches in Q1, meaning Android 2.0.1. will not appear on the phone until they decide to update (which could be months).

The South Korean company LG has proudly predicted that its 3D TV models will go mainstream this year in may in the U.S. market.

According to the announcement, LG plans to introduce 3D TVs in sizes ranging from 42-inches to 72-inches over the next year. The company also plans to introduce a new line of high-end 3D-capable displays, which are said to include an uber slim bezel design. The displays are expected to incorporate LG’s own proprietary shutter technology, as well as a more simplified filtering system.

LG has developed a chipset to handle various types of 3D broadcast signals and continues to develop correcting technology that automatically controls the brightness of overlapped parts on each eye to ensure optimum 3D images.

Like Asian rivals such as Panasonic and Sony, LG sees 3D TV as the next big space to cash in on, and at a press conference today, it declared it will sell as many as 400,000 3D goggleboxes next year, and a whopping 3.4million in 2011.LG will focus on extending the initiative in North America and Europe from 2010 and will launch 3D TVs in South and Central American and Asia from 2011. The market is expected to expand worldwide as the London 2012 Olympics are currently slated to be aired in 3D.

LG said it agreed to a partnership deal with Korea Digital Satellite Broadcasting, known as SkyLife, which will run a second trial 3D broadcasting in January in South Korea.

"3D TV sales and 3D content will go hands in hands. Content providers will be reluctant to boost 3D production before certain number of 3D TVs are sold, and TVs won’t sell well unless there’s enough content available

said J.M. Hong, an analyst at Kiwoom Securities.
