class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-508" title="google-page-speed-addon" src="http://www.intechgrity.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/google-page-speed-addon.jpg" alt="google page speed addon" width="500" height="296" />This morning we talked about <a
href="http://www.intechgrity.com/yslow-firebug-addon-to-test-and-optimize-your-website-performance/">YSlow Firebug Addon</a> and how to use it for increasing performance of your website/blog. But the discussion is actually incomplete if we don&#8217;t talk about the Google&#8217;s Firebug addon <em>»</em> <strong>Page Speed</strong>. Basically this extends Firefox&#8217;s Firebug Addon with more functionability from Google&#8217;s Webmasters tool. With this addon you can see what <strong>Google</strong> thinks about your site and how you can make it better! Now who don&#8217;t want to please the big <strong>G</strong>! So here we are giving a quick tutorial on using the cool piece of Firefox addon.</p><h2>#0: Requirements and installation:</h2><p>As before, you need to have Firefox along with firebug. If you don&#8217;t have it already you can get them here:</p><ul><li><a
href="http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/personal.html?from=getfirefox" target="_blank">Download Firefox Web Browser</a></li><li><a
href="http://getfirebug.com/" target="_blank">Download Firebug Firefox Addon</a></li></ul><p>Recommended reading:</p><ul><li><a
href="../what-should-be-your-primary-browser/">A little about Firefox browser</a>;</li><li><a
href="../ff-addon-best-live-web-development-tool/">Firebug as best Live Web development tool</a></li></ul><p>Then all you have to do is install <strong>Page Speed </strong>Addon by Google.</p><ul><li><a
href="http://code.google.com/speed/page-speed/download.html" target="_blank">Download and Install Page Speed Firebug addon</a>.</li></ul><h2>#1: Using Page Speed for analyzing your site:</h2><p>This pretty easy and straight forward. All you have to do is:</p><ul><li>Open you site on a tab.</li><li>Click on the <strong>Firebug</strong> icon from the taskbar then navigate to the <strong>Page Speed</strong> tab.<a
href="http://www.intechgrity.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/using-page-speed.png"><img
class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-510" title="using page speed" src="http://www.intechgrity.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/using-page-speed-300x75.png" alt="using page speed" width="300" height="75" /></a></li><li>Now just hit on the <strong>Analyze Performance</strong> button and everything else will be taken care of&#8230;</li></ul><p>After that you will be given a complete score of your site according to the performance! Have a look at the report of ours&#8230;</p><p><a
href="http://www.intechgrity.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/itg-page-speed-analysis.png"><img
class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-512" title="itg page speed analysis" src="http://www.intechgrity.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/itg-page-speed-analysis-295x300.png" alt="itg page speed analysis" width="295" height="300" /></a></p><h2>#2: Browsing the resources (css, images, js etc):</h2><p>The best feature about Page Speed is, you can easily navigate through the resources your site is using from the <strong>resource</strong> tab. This will not only show the resource type and size but also the header requests sent and received while <em>GET</em>ing the resource. For example have a look at here&#8230;</p><p><a
href="http://www.intechgrity.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/resource-browser-page-speed.png"><img
class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-509" title="resource browser page speed" src="http://www.intechgrity.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/resource-browser-page-speed-300x141.png" alt="resource browser page speed" width="300" height="141" /></a></p><p>It shows that no cookie is being sent on requesting the file from cdn.intechgrity.com which is a good practice for serving static contents&#8230;</p><p>Well there are more to explore! If you want to look into the rule using which page speed grades your site, have a look at <a
href="http://code.google.com/speed/page-speed/docs/rules_intro.html" target="_blank">here</a>. Do let us know how your site did with page speed and how you have used it to increase the performance of your site! If you run into any trouble, feel free to ask here!</p><p>Related posts:<ol><li><a

No matter how rich is the content, a slow blog is unlikely to get any attention from the visitor. So, I thought about discussing two great plugins for Firefox Firebug addon, which will help you diagnose your Blog&#8217;s/Websites performance on many aspects. Be it CSS, CSS Sprite, images, JS, HTML or whatever these two addons will deeply analyze your blog and will let you know where your blog is going down and how you can fix them up!</p><h2>#0: Get Firefox+Firebug First:</h2><p>As mentioned before these plugins works on the great Firebug Addon for firefox. If you are not already using firefox, then download the firefox browser and firebug addon from the link given below:</p><ul><li><a
href="http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/personal.html?from=getfirefox">Download Firefox Browser</a></li><li><a
href="http://getfirebug.com/">Install Firebug Addon</a></li></ul><p>Recommended reading:</p><ul><li><a

href="http://www.intechgrity.com/ff-addon-best-live-web-development-tool/">Firebug as best Live Web development tool</a></li></ul><p>Now that you have the basic requirements, you are ready to go!</p><h2>#1: Installing the YSlow Firebug Addon:</h2><p><a
href="http://developer.yahoo.com/yslow/" target="_blank">YSlow</a>, so far is the best addon I have seen for measuring website&#8217;s performance! Developed by Yahoo! it not only gives a detailed information about your site, but also tools to let you fix things which are wrong! Here are some key features of YSlow</p><ul><li><span
style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Complete Grading</strong></span>: The best feature about YSlow is it grades your site completely based on your preference&#8230; <a
href="http://www.intechgrity.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/YSlow-grading.png"><img
class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-495" title="YSlow grading" src="http://www.intechgrity.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/YSlow-grading-300x191.png" alt="YSlow grading" width="300" height="191" /></a>If you look at the screenshot below then you will see, how much our site gets from YSlow! Apart from that it lists down each and every thing according to its grade. So you know exactly what is slowing down your site.</li><li><span
style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Components Listing</strong></span>: Do you have too many of JS files and CSS images and want to trace them? Scanning your sites code for this manually can get quite hectic!<a
href="http://www.intechgrity.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/YSlow-Components.png"><img
class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-494" title="YSlow Components" src="http://www.intechgrity.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/YSlow-Components-300x197.png" alt="YSlow Components" width="300" height="197" /></a> This where YSlow saves us! It lists down all the components like <em>doc, js, css, css images, images </em>etc and also shows their sizes and optimization tips.</li><li><span
style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>JS debugging</strong></span>: YSlow has built in support for showing beautified or minified source of all the JS files from your site.<a
href="http://www.intechgrity.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/YSlow-Tools.png"><img
class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-496" title="YSlow Tools" src="http://www.intechgrity.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/YSlow-Tools-300x130.png" alt="YSlow Tools" width="300" height="130" /></a> What more? It comes packed with <strong>JSLint</strong> that helps you debug your JS.</li><li><span
style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Others</strong></span>: YSlow also comes with CSS compressor, image compressor and much more!</li></ul><p><strong>DOWNLOAD LINK</strong>: <a
href="http://developer.yahoo.com/yslow/">Yahoo! YSlow for Firebug</a>;</p><p>So basically YSlow is a-z Yahoo! Web developers kit for all Blog or Website owners. Install it today and start optimizing your site!</p><p>Related posts:<ol><li><a

class="dropcap">A</span>re you fond of playing online game? If so, then I might have the right thing for you. Basically, I too got a little interest in this game when I was asked to review their service.</p><p><img
style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="ZombieDobby" border="0" alt="ZombieDobby" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S-6VfFO8WKI/AAAAAAAAEBY/2Vu6Thpq_a4/ZombieDobby%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="500" height="214" /></p><p>ZombieDobby is basically a browser based game for net savvies. You install the <a
href="http://www.zombiedobby.com" target="_blank">ZombieDobby Toolbar</a> on your <a
href="http://www.intechgrity.com/2009/03/what-should-be-your-primary-browser.html" target="_blank">Firefox</a> and you are a part of the zombie world…</p><p> <a
name='more'></a><p>Keep on surfing the net to increase your score. When you start you get 10 Health. As you surf you increase your score and buy upgrades to keep alive and avoid being a Zombie. Say, on a particular domain, if you encounter with another player [both being brain] the encountering starts [ie, tagging the page]… If you win, you get huge bonus and increased health. If you lose your health is decreased by 1. Lose all your health and you become a Zombie… Now attack other brains and try to make them Zombie as well… To know more about the rules have a look at <a
href="http://www.zombiedobby.com/rules.php" target="_blank">here</a>.</p><p><img
style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="Brain to a Zombie" border="0" alt="Brain to a Zombie" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S-6Vf6kAEqI/AAAAAAAAEBc/UvUsfEToCcg/Brain%20to%20a%20Zombie%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="323" height="294" /></p><p>Basically, what I feel is, the concept behind the game is to tag internet in a funny way. You tag pages when you encounter a player, win it and get points. On the contrary, your tagging helps the system to improve internet!</p><p>To play this game all you need to do is install the <a
href="http://www.zombiedobby.com/download.php" target="_blank">Firefox extension</a>. Rest all is done by the toolbar itself!</p><p><img
style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="ZombyDobby Toolbar" border="0" alt="ZombyDobby Toolbar" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S-6VgnmsC8I/AAAAAAAAEBg/8z4VZ2BotWs/ZombyDobby%20Toolbar%5B5%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="500" height="17" /></p><p>This game is currently is in alpha version, so it is currently undergoing tests, upgrades and bug fixes. What more? Well ZombieDobby will be out of Alpha testing on or before June 1, 2010, at which time the first full prize round will begin and players will be automatically entered to win a new Sony Playstation 3 game system. So, you should try your luck this time!!</p><p>Do give us your feedback and tell us how you liked this game!</p><p>Related posts:<ol><li><a

align="justify"><span
class="dropcap">I</span>f you are a regular internet user, then you must have came across many sites showing web videos [Take <a
href="http://www.youtube.com/" target="_blank">YouTube</a> for example]. Basically when you play a video from these sites, the videos are actually stored in your hard disk. Your browser downloads them and then plays it accordingly. But as the download is not direct, you can not save it for your personal use and have to replay <em>[i.e., download the video again]</em> the video to see it again.</p><p
align="justify"><img
style="border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 0px 10px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Video Download Helper" border="0" alt="Video Download Helper" align="right" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S6UX3CaFdbI/AAAAAAAAD8o/9OYJdAvFtC4/Video%20Download%20Helper%5B5%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="203" height="157" />So, the question is what to do to download those videos on your hard disk? Well a <a
href="http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en&amp;q=download+web+videos" target="_blank">simple googling may answer your question</a> but then again a question arises which tool to use?&#160; Using third party software can not only slow down your PC, but also invite viruses and other malwares in your system…</p><p
align="justify">Now, if you are a <a
href="http://www.intechgrity.com/2009/03/what-should-be-your-primary-browser.html" target="_blank">Firefox</a> user like me, then you are one step ahead on easily downloading online flv videos. Today we are going to discuss about a <a
href="http://www.intechgrity.com/search/label/Firefox%20Addons" target="_blank">Firefox Add-on</a>, which will not only <strong>let you easily download all the videos you see embedded on web pages</strong> but also to <strong>convert them, store them securely, copy the URL of the video </strong>or even <strong>tweet about the video </strong>and also <strong>blacklisting </strong>them. This feature rich Add-on is known as <strong><a
href="http://www.downloadhelper.net/" target="_blank">Video DownloadHelper</a>.</strong> Read below to know more about it…</p><p> <a
name='more'></a><br
/><h2>Downloading and Installing Video DownloadHelper Add-on:</h2><p
align="center"><strong><em><a
href="http://www.downloadhelper.net/" target="_blank">Home Page</a> </em></strong>| <strong><em><a
href="https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006" target="_blank">Direct Addon Link</a> </em></strong>| <strong><em><a
href="http://www.downloadhelper.net/manual.php" target="_blank">User Manual</a></em></strong> | <strong><em><a
href="http://www.downloadhelper.net/faq.php" target="_blank">Official FAQ Lists</a></em></strong></p><p
align="left">Note that you need Firefox to install this Addon. If don’t have it already then simply <a
href="http://www.intechgrity.com/2009/03/what-should-be-your-primary-browser.html" target="_blank">go here to read why and how to install Firefox Web Browser</a> on your PC.</p><p
align="left"><img
style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="Click on Add to Firefox" border="0" alt="Click on Add to Firefox" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S6UX4oTFO7I/AAAAAAAAD8s/UUWC7KLxIik/Click%20on%20Add%20to%20Firefox%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="500" height="212" /> Now just simply Click on the “<strong>Add to Firefox</strong>” from the <strong>Direct Addon Link</strong> written above. The Addon will automatically get installed. Now you are ready to download any web video you see online!</p><h2>How to use the Addon to download Web(FLV) videos:</h2><p>Basically it is very easy:</p><ul><li>Simply go to sites like <a
href="http://www.youtube.com/" target="_blank">YouTube</a> where videos are embedded and streamed on a webpage.</li><li>In most of the cases, a Video Download Helper Button will get appended beside the video.<img
style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="Embedded button beside the Video" border="0" alt="Embedded button beside the Video" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S6UX6P9lvBI/AAAAAAAAD8w/F7fCHMrjvEc/Embedded%20button%20beside%20the%20Video%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="240" height="236" /> Simply click on the button and download your video.</li><li>Else access the Addon from the navigation toolbar icon.<img
style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="Select the video you want to download" border="0" alt="Select the video you want to download" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S6UX7ve6IPI/AAAAAAAAD80/F7dHIYvBTxw/Select%20the%20video%20you%20want%20to%20download%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="500" height="130" /> Simply click on the button beside the Address bar and a menu will show you a list of videos on the current page. Download the one you like.</li></ul><h2>Other Features of Video DownloadHelper Addon:</h2><p>Apart from this, there are many other things which you can do with this cool addon.</p><ul><li>Download and Convert the video in various formats; <br
/><img
style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="Convert using VDH" border="0" alt="Convert using VDH" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S6UX9AhFThI/AAAAAAAAD84/xjClu4GUAaw/Convert%20using%20VDH%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="335" height="337" /> Basically it uses a third party converter, namely convertHelper to do this. It is only 3.6 MB and you can <a
href="http://www.downloadhelper.net/install-converter.php" target="_blank">download it</a> to enable this video conversion feature. There are two versions free and registered. The free version only shows a DownloadHelper logo on the converted video.</li><li>You can tweet about the video</li><li>Add the video to black list</li><li>Or, even send the video to your mobile</li></ul><p>You need to setup DownloadHelper properly to access all these features. Simply <em>Right Click </em>on the <strong>Video DownloadHelper icon</strong> from the <strong>navigation bar</strong> and go to <strong>Preferences</strong>. From there go to <strong>Services</strong> and enter all the information needed…</p><p>By default Video DownloadHelper searches for Adult videos as well. If you don’t want this then you can set this off from <a
href="http://www.downloadhelper.net/safe-mode.php" target="_blank">here</a>. Note than you won’t be able to revert settings back after you enter into the safe mode.</p><p>Also you can go to the <a
href="http://www.downloadhelper.net/support-expert.php" target="_blank">Support page</a> for more information or browse their official Manuals and FAQs…</p><p

class="dropcap">I</span>n Windows Operating Systems, Registry files play a vital role in the performance and response time of your PC. A properly designed registry hive [<em>Which can be accessed by just typing “<strong>regedit</strong>” in the <strong>RUN </strong>console from start menu</em>] can really boost your PC to its peak performance. On the other hand if it is configured in a poor manner, then it can really slow down your PC. Actually what happens is, every software that you install in your system need some information to run correctly. During installation these information are stored in the Registry Hive. Now, if by some how these information registry files get spoiled then this affects the startup of the relevant software.</p><p>You may wonder why and how the registry files may get spoiled. Well it happens mainly because of improper uninstallation of a software or bad installation or due to spyware attack. All of these results in poor performance and lagged response time of your PC.</p><p><img

class="dropcap">M</span>any users face problem while disabling the<strong> Windows Automatic Update</strong> on <a
href="http://www.intechgrity.com/search/label/Windows7">Windows 7</a>. Even last time my bro called me and asked me how to do this. Now you may wonder what’s the big deal in just disabling it from the Windows Update Center from Control Panel. Basically, the thing is that when we disable it from the Windows Update Center, only a part of it gets disabled. But Windows Update still starts automatically and eats up some of your precious bandwidth…</p><p>So we are going to discuss how to permanently disable Windows Update from Windows 7. After this tweak Windows 7 update service will not start at all… So you don’t have to worry about any excess bandwidth usage… [<strong><em>Recommended Reading</em></strong>: <a
href="http://www.intechgrity.com/2009/11/5-tips-to-lower-your-broadband-usage.html">5 tips to lower your broadband usage over internet</a>]</p><p><a
name="more"></a></p><h2>#1: Disabling from Windows Update Center:</h2><p>This is a easier step and you might be aware of it. Anyways for those who don’t know, here are the steps…</p><ul><li>Go to <strong>Start Menu &gt; Control Panel </strong>and switch to large icon view<img
style="display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border-width: 0px;" title="switching to category view" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S3cPA64Tx9I/AAAAAAAAD6c/vSMPgXb4vL0/switching%20to%20category%20view%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" alt="switching to category view" width="241" height="130" border="0" /></li><li>Now at the end of the list click on “<strong>Windows Update</strong>”</li><li>Windows Update panel will pop up.<img
style="display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border-width: 0px;" title="click on let me choose my settings" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S3cPBgxFmCI/AAAAAAAAD6g/TVUU-6NAz-8/click%20on%20let%20me%20choose%20my%20settings%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" alt="click on let me choose my settings" width="335" height="148" border="0" /> Now select the “<strong>Let me choose my settings</strong>” option</li><li>Now under “<strong>Important Updates</strong>” section click on the dropdown menu and select the “<strong>Never Check for Updates</strong>” option.<img
style="display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border-width: 0px;" title="select never check for updates" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S3cPCgencEI/AAAAAAAAD6k/Yojn739kI-A/select%20never%20check%20for%20updates%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" alt="select never check for updates" width="500" height="151" border="0" /></li><li>Apply all changes [Just press <strong>OK</strong>] and you are done</li></ul><h2>#2: Disabling from the Administrative Tools:</h2><p>In this step we will disable the Automatic Update service from the administrative tools. This will permanently stop it and will prevent it from being started on each start up. So after this tweak, you don’t have to worry about Automatic Updates anymore…</p><p
class="update"><strong><span
style="text-decoration: underline;">Caution:</span></strong> Doing so will make any program depending on Windows Update API [WUA] stop working. So it is not recommended if you use such program. [But I will recommend you to do this if you want to save your bandwidth!]</p><p>So here is how to do it:</p><ul><li>Go to <strong>Control Panel </strong>before and switch to <strong><em>Icon View</em></strong> as before.<img
style="display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border-width: 0px;" title="Click on Administrative Tools" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S3cPD-L8d5I/AAAAAAAAD6o/sxlUWIRMfq0/Click%20on%20Administrative%20Tools%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" alt="Click on Administrative Tools" width="251" height="113" border="0" /> Now click on the “<strong>Administrative Tools</strong>” icon.</li><li>From the Administrative Tools double click on “<strong>Services</strong>”.<img
style="display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border-width: 0px;" title="Service Window" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S3cPFXsO8uI/AAAAAAAAD6s/q7M1kXgMyrE/Service%20Window%5B3%5D.png?imgmax=800" alt="Service Window" width="500" height="366" border="0" /> This will open up the Service panel.</li><li>Now scroll down to the list and find and select “<strong>Windows Update”</strong>.<img
style="display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border-width: 0px;" title="Find Windows Update" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S3cPGlJEl5I/AAAAAAAAD6w/MfrwV1unXJY/Find%20Windows%20Update%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" alt="Find Windows Update" width="332" height="144" border="0" /> While selecting it take a look on the left sidebar panel. If there is something like “<strong>Stop the Service</strong>” simply click on it.<img
style="display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border-width: 0px;" title="Stop the service" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S3cPHa5DI-I/AAAAAAAAD60/rI3g0NUMB90/Stop%20the%20service%5B3%5D.png?imgmax=800" alt="Stop the service" width="196" height="94" border="0" /> Else just ignore this step.</li><li>Now <em>right click</em> on <strong>Windows Update<img
style="display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border-width: 0px;" title="go to winupdate properties" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S3cPIeMEPpI/AAAAAAAAD64/1gfCnpvZ7tI/go%20to%20winupdate%20properties%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" alt="go to winupdate properties" width="286" height="270" border="0" /> </strong>and go to <strong>Properties</strong>.</li><li>Now under the <strong>Startup Type</strong> from the <strong>Properties Window</strong> select the <strong>Disabled </strong>option from the dropdown menu.<img
style="display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border-width: 0px;" title="disable windows update" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S3cPJYkczqI/AAAAAAAAD68/XQGRIGkm3N8/disable%20windows%20update%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" alt="disable windows update" width="425" height="304" border="0" /></li><li>Hit OK and save everything</li></ul><p>Voila… Now you have properly disabled the windows update…</p><hr

So, I thought of completing this post by explaining the easiest method of automatically inserting watermarks on your blog post. We have already covered the best and free offline blog posting software [WYSIWYG] <a
href="http://www.intechgrity.com/2009/12/why-windows-live-writer-is-still-best.html">Windows Live Writer</a> and <a
href="http://www.intechgrity.com/2009/06/12-must-use-plug-in-for-windows-live.html">its useful plugins</a>. So now lets see how we can configure it easily to insert watermarks on every inserted images on our post…</p><p> <a
name='more'></a><br
/><h2>#Step 1: Inserting the Image:</h2><p
align="center">&#160;<a
href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S3GRpioS8AI/AAAAAAAAD6A/XCJNhte0Fw8/s1600-h/Insert%20Picture%5B8%5D.png"><img
style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="Insert Picture" border="0" alt="Insert Picture" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S3GRrGyXFJI/AAAAAAAAD6I/JRj4K2ehowc/Insert%20Picture_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="500" height="307" /></a><em><font
color="#808080">Click on the image to enlarge</font></em>&#160;</p><ul><li>Click on the “<strong><em>Picture…</em></strong>” icon on the right “<strong><u>Insert</u></strong>” Panel.</li><li>A new window will popup. Select your picture and Click on ok.</li></ul><h2>#Step 2: Adding the Watermark to your image:</h2><ul><li>Simply select the picture and the “<strong><u>Picture</u></strong>” menu will open up on the right panel.</li><li><img
style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="Adding the watermark" border="0" alt="Adding the watermark" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S3GRr-DcoPI/AAAAAAAAD6M/KJSTINCb07g/Adding%20the%20watermark%5B4%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="198" height="434" /> Now click on the “<strong><em>Advanced</em></strong>” tab on the panel and click on “<strong><em>Watermark…</em></strong>”.</li><li>This will popup the watermark text window.<img
style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="Using the watermark window" border="0" alt="Using the watermark window" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S3GRspeGRII/AAAAAAAAD6Q/Vq6f36lM59g/Using%20the%20watermark%20window%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="311" height="304" /> Enter your Watermark text [Like, we use “<em>Picture by <a
href="http://www.inTechgrity.com">www.</a><a
href="http://www.intechgrity.com/">inTechgrity</a>.com</a>”]</em></li><li>Also adjust the position of your watermark to best fit your image.</li></ul><h2>#Step 3: Saving your settings to automatically insert watermark on every image:</h2><ul><li>Now again select the picture and click on “<strong><em>Picture</em></strong>” tab.</li><li><img
style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="Saving default settings" border="0" alt="Saving default settings" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S3GRtWB94sI/AAAAAAAAD6U/5c8fCup6UC0/Saving%20default%20settings%5B3%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="201" height="73" /> Simply Click on “<strong>Save settings as default</strong>” and you are done.</li></ul><p>Now your watermarks will be inserted on each of your post images…</p><h2>Some Tips:</h2><ul><li>You should add watermarks only to the images you have created. Do not add watermarks to the images you have used from web. This may break the copyright protection of that image. Just be on the safer side and include a backlink to the source image instead.</li><li>Watermarks are only good when they are not blocking the image from being viewed properly. So always change the position of the watermarks according to your image. I prefer using Bottom right or Bottom left position.</li><li>Personally I do not add any watermark to small images as it will block the content of the image!</li></ul></p><h2>Removing the watermark:</h2><p>This is pretty easy…</p><ul><li>Select the <strong>watermarked image</strong> &gt; Go to <strong>Advanced Tab</strong> from the right panel &gt; Click on <strong>Watermarks…</strong> [As before]</li><li>Now simply delete the watermark text from the Watermark Window and this will remove watermark from your image</li></ul><hr
style="text-align: center; margin: 10px auto; width: 80%; color: #4097b4" />That was how we can easily insert watermarks on our images using WLW. So which method do use? Do share with us!</p><p>No related posts.</p><p>- By <a

class="dropcap">A</span>lthough this is a very basic thing, but I thought of posting this as many users are having difficulties doing so. But before we proceed, let us have a quick look on what UAC is. <strong>UAC </strong>or <strong>User Account Control</strong> is a <em>windows tool, which informs your whenever you or a program tries to make system level change.</em> The prompt in the above image shows a typical UAC confirmation. It was developed to prevent malicious or unwanted software installation or system changes which can potentially cause damage to your PC.</p><p>The concept behind UAC is pretty good, but I personally feel that in real application, UAC fails to do what it is designed to. Most of the times it becomes an annoying prompt which takes our attention from what we are doing. Also, many programs and software will not even run if you have UAC enabled. So let us see, how we can disable the UAC on our <a
href="http://www.intechgrity.com/search/label/Windows7">Windows 7</a> PC.</p><p> <a
name='more'></a><br
/><h2>Disabling from default category view Control Panel:</h2><p>By default our <strong>Control Panel</strong> is set to <strong><em>category view</em></strong>.<img
style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="Control panel with category type view" border="0" alt="Control panel with category type view" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S0rHIoJqMzI/AAAAAAAAD10/EudDQ6iN-zQ/Control%20panel%20with%20category%20type%20view%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="500" height="239" /> If your Control panel looks like the image above, then simply follow the steps:</p><ul><li>Go to <strong><em>Start Menu</em></strong> &gt; <strong><em>Control Panel</em></strong> and the control panel window will appear;<img
style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="go to control panel from start menu" border="0" alt="go to control panel from start menu" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S0rFpJvP_FI/AAAAAAAAD1U/yFEiFzeTRaQ/go%20to%20control%20panel%20from%20start%20menu%5B3%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="411" height="573" /></li><li>Now Click on the <strong>User Account and Family Safety</strong> icon.<img
style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="go to user accounts and family safety" border="0" alt="go to user accounts and family safety" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S0rFqB6IdYI/AAAAAAAAD1Y/XIkDSgRylSI/go%20to%20user%20accounts%20and%20family%20safety%5B11%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="399" height="200" /> This will bring you the <strong><em>User Account Panel</em></strong>.</li><li>Now click on <strong>User Accounts</strong> icon.<img
style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="Go to user accounts" border="0" alt="Go to user accounts" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S0rFq0r9cBI/AAAAAAAAD1c/gNOsNfrafB4/Go%20to%20user%20accounts%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="471" height="227" /></li><li>Finally click on the <strong><em>Change User Account Control Settings</em></strong> under the “<strong>Make Changes to your user account” </strong>menu panel.<img
style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="click on change user account control settings" border="0" alt="click on change user account control settings" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S0rFrjXDqwI/AAAAAAAAD1g/XR13uwiH570/click%20on%20change%20user%20account%20control%20settings%5B4%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="502" height="241" /> This will bring you the UAC settings panel.</li><li>Now simply slide down the left slidebar to make it “<strong>Never Notify</strong>”.<img
style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="move the slide bar down" border="0" alt="move the slide bar down" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S0rFsS-5OrI/AAAAAAAAD1k/VDke79rrE_E/move%20the%20slide%20bar%20down%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="500" height="367" /> Save all the open windows and you are done.</li></ul><p>So that was quite simple, isn’t it! Now lets see how to access to <em>icon type Control Panel View</em>.</p><h2>Disabling from icon type Control Panel view:</h2><p>If your Control panel is set as “<strong><em>Large” </em></strong>or “<strong><em>Small</em></strong>” icons, then it should look like this.<img
style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="Icon type view of Control panel" border="0" alt="Icon type view of Control panel" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S0rGvBEvHiI/AAAAAAAAD1o/ylpuui9OQ7Y/Icon%20type%20view%20of%20Control%20panel%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="500" height="370" /> You can change the views by clicking the “<strong><em>View By</em></strong>” menu.<img
style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="changing the view type of control panel" border="0" alt="changing the view type of control panel" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S0rGv_7p8zI/AAAAAAAAD1s/PWGxjDuSM4A/changing%20the%20view%20type%20of%20control%20panel%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="247" height="141" /> Simply follow the steps below:</p><ul><li>Locate and Click on the “<strong><em>User Accounts</em></strong>” icon.<img
style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="go to user accounts through icon type view" border="0" alt="go to user accounts through icon type view" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S0rGwhK8wII/AAAAAAAAD1w/RhiufRiosIc/go%20to%20user%20accounts%20through%20icon%20type%20view%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="231" height="106" /> It is generally located on the lower part of the Panel.</li><li>Now you will see the User Accounts panel like before. <img
style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="click on change user account control settings" border="0" alt="click on change user account control settings" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_M0X9MzkzNXE/S0rFrjXDqwI/AAAAAAAAD1g/XR13uwiH570/click%20on%20change%20user%20account%20control%20settings%5B4%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="502" height="241" /></li><li>Simply follow the 4th and 5th steps of the previous part and you will successfully disable UAC.</li></ul><hr
style="text-align: center; margin: 10px auto; width: 80%; color: #4097b4" />So that was the complete tutorial on disabling UAC. Basically I wrote this tutorial because by Bro asked me how to do this. As he is on Delhi, so I cannot do it myself on his laptop. So instead of emailing him the procedure I thought of publishing it on our blog. I hope it was of some use to you as well. Do <strong>give us your feedback</strong>. Also if you face any problem related to any steps above, feel free to ask us!</p></p></p><p><em>image credit: <a
