On Sept. 21 at Melgaard Park in Aberdeen, all ages in the region will have a chance to mingle with the NSU coaches and student-athletes in a free picnic. The event, intended for the entire region, will feature a free meal from noon to 2 p.m. as well as activities for youth and adults. The NSU music department is also involved in this event and will be providing music for it. "It will be a great afternoon of fun and fellowship," said Northern State athletic director Bob Olson.</description>

			<description>Aberdeen Central athletic director Gene Brownell is this week's guest. He talks about the sixth annual McDonald's Hub City Bowl on Sept. 5 at Swisher Field in Aberdeen. At 5 p.m., Aberdeen Roncalli will host Milbank in a Northeast Conference game. At 8 p.m., Aberdeen Central will host Brandon Valley. The event is a shared fund-raiser for the athletic booster clubs of both schools, so no passes will be accepted. Also at halftime of both games, a football will be auctioned to help with the fund-raiser.</description>

			<description>This week's guest will be Hecla farmer-rancher and well-known collegiate basketball official Bill Richter, who will be inducted into the South Dakota Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame this fall. Richter's 40-year baseball playing career included 10 years in his home state of Minnesota, but he also made his mark in South Dakota. Richter was a standout catcher at St. Cloud State, and moved to South Dakota in 1972. He played most of his amateur career with the Claremont Honkers before they disbanded in the late 1990s.</description>

			<description>Taylor Mehlhaff began his quest this week to win one of 32 jobs available in the world.  The Aberdeen Central graduate is trying to win the job of the New Orleans Saints kicker. The Saints open their NFL training camp Thursday in Jackson, Miss., although the team ran their players through a series of tests yesterday. Mehlhaff, who is this week's guest, talks about life in the NFL and his upcoming competition with nine-year pro Martin Gramatica as they try to win the Saints kicking job.  "Martin is a very good kicker," said Mehlhaff. "He also is a nice guy. I have great respect for him and his abilities. It is going to be an interesting competition."</description>

All-Star game schedules are: Tuesday - Golf at Lee Park Golf Course at 1:15 p.m.; wrestling at Wachs Arena at 6 p.m.; girls' basketball at Wachs Arena at 8 p.m. Wednesday - Golf at Lee Park Golf Course at 10 a.m.; volleyball at Wachs Arena at 6 p.m.; boys' basketball at Wachs Arena at 8 p.m. Thursday - Golf at Moccasin Creek Country Club at 9:30 a.m.; football at Swisher Field at 6 p.m. The All-Star cheer team will perform at halftime of both basketball games and prior to the football game. </description>

He will talk about the event, which will feature about 50 teams and 750 players playing matches throughout the weekend at the Moccasin Creek Soccer Complex. Action will start at 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. There will be divisions for boys and girls ranging from 10 and under through 19.</description>

Conley talks about his memories of the conference, including a 1992 football game in Brookings between South Dakota State and Augustana that featured seven future professional football players. </description>

DenHerder is the women's fast pitch softball coach of the newly formed Black Hills Gold, a team of South Dakota all-stars who will play Team USA in Rapid City on July 15.Making the Gold's 18-player rooster was former Presentation College standout Jennifer Bourdon of Duck Lake, Saskatchewan. Her sisters, Heather and Kim, were named to the five-player alternate squad. The triplets were standout softball and volleyball players for the Saints until they graduated in 2007. Team USA will be concluding its Bound 4 Beijing Tour next month as it prepares for the 2008 Olympic Games in August. Since softball became an Olympic sport in 1996, the USA women have won all three gold medals.</description>

It's a great time to view the waterfowl migration as new species are arriving daily. The wildlife drive is a 15-mile route (by car or bicycle) that travels through the heart of the refuge, whose headquarters from Aberdeen is east on U.S. Highway 12 to Bath, and then north 18 miles on Brown County 16. Headquarters has information that will guide you through 12 stops along the route to help you better understand refuge management and the habitat and wildlife you are seeing.</description>

Hansen talks about his organization and its plans to break ground on a 30,000 square feet, $4 million building this summer. About 75 percent of the funds have been raised and the group is looking for more donations (www. southdakotafca.org) to have a debt-free building. FCA plans to occupy about 2,000 square feet of the building that will be near Sioux Falls Christian High School and the Sanford Health Sports Complex. Hansen was an NFL punter for 15 years. He was a two-time football All-American at the University of Sioux Falls in 1982 and 1983. Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been challenging coaches and athletes on the amateur and professional level to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ.</description>

The competition is between a NSU football player and two members of the community to see who can bench press 225 pounds for the most repetitions. The event will be at halftime of the men's basketball game on Saturday between NSU and Southwest Minnesota State. The men's game will start at 8 p.m., the women at 6 p.m. Representing the community will be Aberdeen firefighters J.R. Huebner and Joe Reiter. The NSU football player is Wes Uepi. The  Wolves football team is 2-0 in this competition.</description>

Kastigar talks about that meet, her team and how things have gone during the first year of this new program at NSU. The Wolves have 10 swimmers and hope to double that number in the coming year. She also talks about possibly phasing in diving for the team as well. Kastigar, also the coach of the Aberdeen Swim Club, also talks about Aberdeen hosting the indoor state championships Feb. 29-March 2.</description>

Krogman talks about his great teammates, how humbled he was at the great reaction from basketball fans at the Lakota Nation Invitational when he broke the record last weekend in Rapid City and his future at the University of South Dakota.</description>
