Nine months. It's gone by in a blink. He's starting to stand on his own, crawling and climbing in everything. He's all over the place.

i took these when tavis started getting up on all fours. such a busy little viking. he is keeping me on my toes these days. margo was playfully teasing him with his binky and some impromptu snuggles happened. all in a days works for these two. i love having a baby in the house. even with all the chaos they bring, the trade offs win every time. margo never stops loving him, she loves to lay on the floor and let him crawl on top of her. she giggles so hard and ends up getting pummeled every time and still she forgives him. she is so loving and humbles me daily with her calming presence.

i'm feeling like i'm coming out of the newborn fog and my kids have all grown by leaps in the middle of it all. especially her. she has had her little world turned upside down with a new baby in our family and has done beautifully.

oh margo, when you were just a tiny little thing in my arms i knew you would be something special but i never could have imagined how wonderful you would really be. you were the sweetest baby and have gotten even better with time if it's even possible. you were such a quiet, mellow two year old and have surprised me by being so full of life and personality. you are a peacemaker and yet you've really gotten so sassy and know how to hold your ground with your big brother especially. you keep up with him so well which is really saying something. but you are so happy and content to have quiet moments and are so refreshing to have around. you love to go places and are always trying to get me out the door. but you are so much fun to be around and i feel like i have a little friend everywhere i go. you've struggled with your belly this past year but it's finally eased up the past few months and you are really so much more chipper and pleasant. i love seeing you be happier. you have a tender heart and you're generous with those margo kisses and hugs that we all love so much. i adore you and can't wait to see what this year will hold for you. xoxo,

cole's still so smitten with his little brother. he still smothers him with loves every day. it amazes me we've gotten this far with how rough he is but it has gotten so much easier with taxis being older. now that taxis is crawling cole will lay on the floor and they'll crawl towards each other and they both think it's hilarious. it's pretty fun to watch the whole thing. they play tops a lot these days too. for long periods of time they'll sit on the floor and get all the tops going and cole giggles every time tavis lunges for them. they're lucky to have each other and i hope they always get along so well.

you're just too good to be true. i was sick with the flu this week and it brought back way too many memories of being pregnant with you. the flu isn't half as bad as being pregnant but it was a small taste at what a sacrifice that was to get you here. still i would do it all over again. i know you were meant to be in our family and i'm so grateful every day for you.

i snapped a few portraits of my beautiful girl before third grade started. it leaves me without words, looking at how grown up she looks. those hurts never ease up do they? every new phase, every accomplishment, every time i see a change in them, it hurts just the same as it did eight years ago when she was brand new. i don't think it will ever go away.

if i'm being honest, there are days when it feels like my house might swallow me whole. the chores can be never ending and it can feel like i'm being pulled in opposite directions. in those moments i love to go out in the yard and be with the kids. it sets me straight every time. being under the shade of our trees is magic for my soul. when we were going to build a house i couldn't stop thinking about how we wouldn't have mature trees in the yard while the kids were little. when we found our house i knew it was for us. god really does know and care about the minute details of our lives and those trees remind me of his love. our apples are ready and margo has been waiting all summer for this moment when she could pick the apples. we filled all our big bowls before it rained. cole worked so hard at peeling and grating apples and we had apple crisp monday night. life is getting to me lately but all these things remind me that it really is oh so good.

the girls have been fairies lots this week. wings and tulle everywhere. it is the. best.

playing in the sprinklers on one of the cloudiest days of the summer. but it was her first time she really had fun and i sat and watched her the whole five minutes of it.

these boys. it'll be my biggest accomplishment this year if i keep tavis unbroken from all of cole's innocent "loves."

He's getting that head up higher and higher each day, rolling over and loving the sound of his own voice these days. She is always cheering him on, giving me reports of what he's doing and I love it so much. They really are my happy thought, each of these beautiful children we have been given.

we went up to the canyon as a family and i snuck in five minutes of pictures with the girls. it's one of my favorite spots, especially this time of year. this was right at noon day but i still love how the colors turned out. these two are really something together. adelyn can be so helpful and margo really loves her. i love seeing them support each other and want to show one another things. they have their moments but mostly they're oh so good.
