The Yaesu FT-60R

The Yaesu FT-60R freeband radio

Ran across an article on a CB radio site about the Yaesu FT-60R being under $200 bucks now at Amazon at WannabeeHams that I found rather interesting. It would seem that the "freebanders" are now modifying VHF/UHF radio equipment as well to make them work on other bands.

portable clock radios

PORTABLE CLOCK RADIOS

Just saw this article at one of my favorite ham radio bloggers about portable clock radios and thought I would throw my two cents in.

Portable clock radios at Amazon

Portable clock radios are a much needed item around the farm here. Since we run everything on generator most of the time, it is nice to have a way to wake up in the morning without running the generator and batteries all nightlong just to wake up.

For me the main thing that I look for in a portable clock radio is rechargeable batteries that I can charge up with a solar panel or hand crank.
Some of the other items I like is a semi rugged case and a big display, and AM/FM with Shortwave and NOAA weather channels. The size is not too important, as long as it fits on my night stand.

For a complete listing of great portable clock radios be sure to see some of the items over at Amazon. With a money back guarantee if your not happy with the item and free shipping, you can't go wrong.

The many talents of Kate Upton

New Kate Upton Video

Who needs a NEW kate Upton video, when this one found over at Vimeo is just fine. The look on her face as she comes up out of the water, with her white T-shirt clearly showing her ample breasts is more than I can stand.

Ran across a video on Vimeo today showing the talents of Kate Upton, and just had to share it with everyone.

Who knew she was SOOO talented. Be sure to check out the poster of Kate Upton coming out of a pool with a wet T-shirt over at Amazon.

They cant ALL be crazy, can they ?

2012-10-25T15:17:00.001-07:00

They cant all be crazy, can they ?

As i watch the Occupy wall st movement, and the lack of media attention, i can help but wonder just what the heck is really going on in this country. I see the OWS movement everywhere on-line, but how often do you hear about on your local news station, unless it is something negative. The last story i heard about it, was people complaining that it was an inconvenience to them, because the Seattle PD had streets blocked off, and were tying up traffic. Even on-line, their isn't as much attention as their was just a few months ago.
Has the 2012 election's pre-empted the OWS movement, or is something being covered up by our media.

At the height of Occupy Wall st, FOX news was having a heyday, painting all the protesters as spun out drugged up hippie freaks, who were lazy and couldnt find work, so they gathered together to blame their problems on everything under the sun, including our Government system. But again, you have to wonder...they cant ALL be crazy can they ?

Well, here it is day two of Wealth Affiliates, and just using my free account, without putting any money into it, i am already making a few bucks. I know that you get out of it what you put into it, and over time, that can be a substantial sum. The main thing is too enjoy what your doing, follow the tutorials, and read read read while you follow the steps, taking action on them.

10M open to Europe

2012-10-17T11:33:00.001-07:00

For the second time this month, we are actually getting great signals into Europe on 10 meters (28MHZ) from northwest WA state today. We don't get this type of F-layer propagation from the far NW usually, so i find it interesting that we are actually able to bounce signals off the F-layer, on this high of a frequency (28 MHZ) for a second time.
The last time this happened was a few weeks ago, when all the sudden, with no indications whatsoever from any of the solar sites, ten meters exploded with strong S-9 signals from Europe for several days.
Listening to M0UNN CQ from England, with a strong signal, work a pileup.

SO who won the Presidential debate ?

2012-10-17T09:27:00.000-07:00

After some exciting moments, in the presidential debate last night, it looks like Obama won this round, according to respondents registered to vote. You can see the charts here.
I have to say, i find it surprising that no one seemed to pick up on the fact that, when President Obama was asked about the attacks on Benghazi, it took the President 14 days before he confirmed that it was an act of terror, when he knew it was just hours after it happened. When President Obama denied it, then said to "check the facts", the moderator agreed with Governor Romney, that he HAD said that. I haven't seen any mention of this anywhere yet.
President Obama came out swinging, and was more confident in the debates last night, and did an excellent job overall. One more round to go, and the President and Governor are at a tie.

Presidential debates tonite

2012-10-16T16:05:00.000-07:00

Watching all the post's scroll across my screen, on many different INTERNET sites now, about the Presidential debates that are on tonight. Don't see what all the excitement is about really. These days we don't elect president's, we elect businessmen, with their own personal agenda's, that lie every chance they get, and break promises.
...No no no, this time he REALLY means, and is telling the truth, unlike all the other times he has changed his story.

It is seriously time for a change in this country, as the current system just doesn't work anymore.

America: Bigger Fatter Rounder

2012-10-16T05:15:00.001-07:00

According to the graphic HERE, it seems that even though we are eating healthier, and exercising more, we are still getting fatter and more obese. Could it be because their are just MORE of of that their was 20 years ago ?

I think it is all to be blamed on the Beer industry.

Killin time

2012-10-15T14:43:00.001-07:00

Here in the office, i spend a lot of time working on this blog, sharing things that i find interesting, or popular stories that may be trending on the internet.
One of the things that i dont talk enough about, is the hobby of homebrewing beer. I have always loved the taste of an ice cold beer, as far back as i can remember. I dont drink a beer to get a buzz, or to get high, but mainly because nothing tastes better at the end of the day, than to relax with the girlfriend, cuddle up on the couch, and sip on a beer while tending to the fire. I have always wanted to try my hand at brewing, and finally picked up a "Mr Beer" kit, for that purpose. So far i have only had one batch that actually came out decent tasting, out of many attempts in the last year. I have tried different storing methods, in warm and colder places of the house, different keg's, adding sugar, increasing and decreasing the time spent in the fermenter, different bottle sizes etc etc. The next step is to try a water purifier, to see if the chlorine in the water is affecting the ferment. The water out here has always had a high chlorine content, that you can taste. I hope to get some beer brewing this week so we can see what the result is, in about a month.
Keep your fingers crossed.

Blogging niches

2012-10-15T09:51:00.000-07:00

Was just over at MybloggingTricks, one of my favorite sites for helpful hints on Blogging, reading some of the articles about different ways a person could make an income working on line, when i was surprised by an article about ten Niches that are really hot right now. Of course, the usual suspects were in there, health, relationships etc etc, but what really surprised me was that the number one niche that people Blog about, is BLOGGING!
There are thousands of sites out there, with tips that will make your Blog number one in the search engines, as well as make you money.

Rainy Thursday morning

2012-10-11T09:42:00.002-07:00

Well, here is sit in my office, watching the latest news from Digg, Reddit and Buzzfeed trickle down into the different social media groups, while a gray sky looms overhead and rain trickles down my window. The soft hum of the computer, working furiously with three different browsers open, and multiple tabs on each, trying to keep up with my mind as it jumps around each topic.
It is going to be another good day....

Van halen, the Mayan calendar, and chicken nuggets

2012-05-29T08:16:00.000-07:00

Well, i have to say, that last week was a very exciting week. Although I didn’t get to see Van Halen in concert, I did find a few chicken nuggets in my printer, and everyone has finally given up on that stupid theory of the ancient Mayans predicting the end of the world. I also made a good profit, and got to spend some quality time with Teri, which is always a plus.
On another note, I am printing up the shipping labels today, to get everything that was purchased off to the post office, and i find myself procrastinating for some odd reason. I am not sure just why I am dragging my feet on this project, since it was very exciting to see the items that I was selling go for a lot more than what I had expected, with one auction ending within 20 minutes of being posted on Ebay. That was only the start, and my week just got better from their.

work at home and chicken nuggets

2012-05-23T10:51:00.000-07:00

Well, here i go again, looking for different ways I can generate a small income by working at home. As I look at all the different methods that are available, it can be extremely overwhelming at times, and even the best of us can be fooled out of our money at times.
I was going building my online business, blogging, driving traffic to my site, and getting commissions from the different ad's on my Blog, and looking at ways to generate more traffic, when i stumbled upon ineedhits.com, a site that promised to get more hits on your web page, by moving you up the Google search result's. What I didnt know, was the seedy business practices these people had. When I ordered the service, it was a promotional thing, for only 7.95+ tax. Since it was located in Australia, i had to allow overseas transactions thru my bank. Since I hadn't done this yet, the order page would halt, so i refreshed and entered my information again. After three tries, i gave up for the time being, and contacted my bank to see if all was okay. I was informed that i had to allow the transactions first, before they would allow it. Okay i thought, no problem. After approving the transaction, i went back to ineedhits.com, and ordered the service. It was absolutely great. I was getting over 1K hits a day on my Blog, and the orders were starting to pour in. Only after I looked at my bank account a few day later, did i notice that I had been charged 4 times from ineedhits.com, over-drafting my bank account, and getting a $32 dollar charge each time. After the first order, the charge for the service was 29.99 as well, putting me over 200 dollars in the hole. After contacting ineedhits. com, and explaining that the charges were an accident, their response was basically "tough luck"! I then tried to cancel the charges with my bank, who basically said the same thing. I finally ended up closing my bank account, since they were also adding a 5 dollar charge everyday my bank was in the red. I am still paying off the charges, and ineedhits. com is happy and content. They got my money, and basically refused to acknowledge the mistake. Okay, lesson learned.
You are probably wondering what all this has to do with chicken nuggets, so I will tell you. After the ineedhits fiasco, i lost my motivation, and have been neglecting my online pursuits, and even stopped writing to this blog for a while, as well as keeping up with my promotional ad's. This last week, i decided I needed to get back on the ball, and start building this up again. In doing so, i also started my eBay business, and started listing items. I was pleasantly surprised when I listed an item, and within 20 minutes it was sold at the price i had wanted. That was a great motivation for me. As I was getting ready to print up the shipping label, so i could send off the package, I discovered that my printer, which hadn’t been used for some time, was full of chicken nuggets. I just had to laugh.

BuzzFeed

2012-02-17T09:46:00.000-08:00

Happened across the site Buzzfeed last night, and thought it was interesting, so i joined, and submitted one article. I was amazed that with just that one article, i had 140 hits in a one hour time period. Will have to figure out the best way to utilize BuzzFeed, over the weekend.

Facebook timeline

2012-02-17T09:03:00.000-08:00

Here it is, and it is official, as I am seeing a lot of complaints about it this morning. It was premeditated, and we have been warned many times that it was going to happen, had plenty of time to prepare for it, and now it is upon us, like an angry dog chasing the mailman. I am talking about, the new Facebook timeline, of course.
So, what do all of you think of it, so far ?

Buzzfeed

2012-02-16T17:43:00.000-08:00

Buzzfeed

Just signed up for, and wrote (Copy and Pasted) my first article on the site BuzzFeed tonite. We will see how it goes, and hopefully buzzfeed can start driving more traffic to my Blog. I will start posting more on buzzfeed, when I go to work. Looking forward to starting in the morning.

Leaving comments

2012-02-16T13:48:00.000-08:00

I was walking a friend through the process of leaving comments on my Blog today, and I thought that a small short tutorial was in order. I would like to see MORE comments on this board, but understand that baby steps are what is required for me right now. I am learning something new everyday, and hope to improve this BLog as time goes on.

The first thing I wanted to point out, is that at the bottom of the Blog, their is a little box that say's "Leave Comments". Right under this box, their is a choice to leave comments under different options. As you can see, their are several options to choose from. You can even leave a link as the name, to promote your own site or Blog. Pretty cool huh ?

In this case, we are going to leave a name and a URL as the name.

Next, you just enter your comments that you want to leave:

And that's it. AS you can see, now when someone clicks on the name you used on your post, it takes you right to the URL/ Web site that you used. This has to be one of the coolest Blog sites on the planet. And it's all FREE!
