MolecularMD Corp. (molecular diagnostics for cancer) raised $6mm through its Series B round. Existing backer Ballast Point Ventures (the sole buyer in the company's $3mm A round) led and was joined by new investor Nextech Invest. Proceeds will be used to accelerate commercialization of new technologies and related rare mutant detection and next generation sequencing tests.

The company will use some of the proceeds for commercial activities for its preconception carrier screening tests for cystic fibrosis, Gaucher's disease, and sickle cell anemia.

The money will be used to expand Celmatix's operations and reach product launch for its FertilArray diagnostic, which is designed to help doctors determine genetic causes of female infertility before beginning reproductive treatments. Celmatix brought in $806k through its Series A in early 2011.

New investors Harris & Harris Group and Cross Creek Capital (an affiliate of Wasatch Advisors) were joined by current shareholders Highland Capital Partners, Versant Ventures, jVen Capital, and CHL Medical Partners. Harris & Harris will contribute one board member. OpGen will use the money to market its Argus whole-genome mapping system and Genome-Builder suite for large genome sequencing and data analysis. The company capped its Series B at $20mm last year.

Two months after filing, DBV Technologies (epicutaneous patch delivery to treat food and other allergies) has raised €40.5mm ($53.4mm) in its initial public offering on the NYSE Euronext Exchange, compartment C. The company sold 4.6mm shares at €8.86, the bottom end of its anticipated range capped at €10.82. Existing investors in DBV purchased a total of €23mm in the offering: €8mm from Sofinnova and Innobio (managed by CDC Enterprises), and the rest from Fonds Strategique d'Investissement.
