The company will use the proceeds to fund R&D and acquire complementary technologies, and for general corporate purposes. It was incorporated in 1994 to develop diagnostic and therapeutic products for genito-urinary and breast cancers. Thecompany's lead products are based on monoclonal antibodies discovered by Dr. Yves Fradet of the [Universite Laval], and licensed from that institution. DiagnoCure hopes to launch {ImmunoCyt}-1,a fluorescence-based immunocytological test for superficial bladder cancer, by the second quarter of 1997, and it has several cancer therapeutic products in development as well.<div class="feedflare">

The company had tentatively priced the offering at $12-14 per share in the preliminary prospectus.

Integ's painless {Lifeguide System}, which utilizes interstitial fluid sampling (not blood samples drawn with a lancet), encourages frequent self-monitoring. The device (Integ expects to file 510k first half of 1997) draws a sample from the outermost layers of the skin and measures the glucose levels by infrared spectroscopy. For the patient, this means simply holding the device against the skin for 5-30 seconds until an adequate sample has been obtained and then waiting for the displayed result. Proceeds will be used for continued development and testing and clinical trials for the {Lifeguide System}; capital expenditures, primarily manufacturing facilities; manufacturing and marketing activities; and working capital.<div class="feedflare">

Adeza's primary focus is developing tests to diagnose pregnancy-related and female reproductive disorders. It recently received an expedited premarket approval to market its ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) test fFN, which measures the fetal fibronectin in vaginal fluids, for use in women with symptoms of premature birth. The fFN test has been marketed in Japan since 1995 by Daiichi, and in Europe through various distributors; in the US Adeza licensed marketing rights to [Matria Healthcare].<div class="feedflare">

The company will use the money for general working capital. Its strategy is to develop as an integrated company even while it's still small, with positions in a range of niche markets with high growth potential. In addition to its patentedidentity testing business and its developed or in-licensed generics lines, the company is reaching in several directions: Helix recently signed an agreement to collaborate with [HemispheRx Biopharma] of Philadelphia to develop its partner's nucleid acid drugs for immunomodulation, and in another recent deal it in-licensed rights to new anti-infective technology. Helix also has a laboratory products division that supplies diagnostic and research products.<div class="feedflare">

Medicus Venture Partners and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers participated.

The company's first product is a platelet blockade assay system for bedside monitoring of cardiovascular patients undergoing GPIIb-IIIa receptor antagonist drug therapy. The rates of GPIIb-IIIa doses of these agents vary from patient to patient, and improper dosage levels can lead to excessive bleeding. Accumetrics is developing a stand-alone bedside monitor operated with disposable, single-use test cartridges.<div class="feedflare">
