Quality Accommodation

A big motivation for going abroad is to immerse yourself in the culture where you will be working. International Volunteer Academy knows that living with a local host family is the best way to do that. We want you to feel at home while being away from home.

Our families are carefully chosen for security, comfort, and friendliness. Many hosts are associated with our programs - for example, a teacher or principal at one of our partner schools or a doctor at one of our medical placements.
Your room will be very modest but comfortable. Host families live in secure houses and neighborhoods and are closely screened and monitored, with regular checkups, before every new volunteer moves in.
We also ensure they can provide you with quality home-cooked meals. Food is at the heart of a society so be ready to eat of the local cuisine!
In line with our commitment to being a positive influence in the communities we work, host families are decently compensated, but are also interviewed for friendliness and to make sure they are motivated by the right reasons. They will welcome you into their family and home and be eager to share their customs with you and have you teach them about your own culture.
There are some locations where host families are not possible, mainly on groups or set dates, and conservation projects. This does not mean we will not have evaluated your accommodation for quality and comfort.

Safety

This is an important part of the service International Volunteer Academy offers you. Your safety and security is our prime concern - we have many procedures and systems to ensure you have the support you need to enjoy your placement with peace of mind.

Our Assurances to you:

Security: We take your security very seriously. Before we go anywhere, the countries must be politically stable and safe. If they are not, we don't go. We also have the added security of our own who know the local area in detail.
Pre-Departure Advice: Once you've been accepted on to our projects you will receive a package which includes applying for a visa, packing lists, and cultural advice about the country you are visiting, and participant handbook. Our Project Developer will contact you once you have applied and is always available to give advice and answer any questions you may have - both before you go and while you are away.
Placement Details: Before you go, you will be allocated your placement details. These include addresses and numbers for your host family, and details regarding your placement and supervisor.
Overseas Staff and Offices: We have offices in the countries we volunteer so there will always be a support staff for you.
Contact Between Staff and Volunteers: Our staff regularly visit host-families, volunteers, and placements to ensure everything is running smoothly. We maintain a cycle of monitoring all volunteer accommodation and placements.
Accommodation: our overseas staff check all accommodation regularly. Accommodation is only accepted if it is clean, hygienic, and comfortable. We strive to have at least one member of the family be able to speak basic English, and the family will understand International Volunteer Academy’s aims. They must also be interested in having an English speaker to stay. Detailed records are kept of every host family, and these are updated after inspection visits. Checks are made before and during volunteers' stays.
Supervisors: Each volunteer, regardless of whether on a teaching, medical, conservation, or other placement is allocated a supervisor. The supervisor is not only responsible for enabling volunteers to carry out their work, but also for ensuring that they are happy and assisting them at their placement with any problems or concerns.
Meeting on arrival: Upon arrival you will go through an immigration station to determine whether your visa and/or other papers are in order. It is common for individuals to be asked about the purpose of their visit, the length of their stay, their accommodations, and finances. For "purpose of entry" put "tourist." As you come out of customs, our staff will be awaiting you and they will display IVA signs. If you do not see a person holding an IVA sign, please call the phone number you were given. Introduce yourself and explain that you are waiting for pickup at the airport. Local representatives will give you directions on how to proceed.

(Do not leave the airport without contacting your local representative. Unless directed otherwise )

Orientation: All volunteers have an induction to the country and area where they'll be living. This varies from country to country but generally includes:

A Welcome Pack with details of the local office and other volunteers, maps, and other useful information (such as banks, doctors, and public transport);
A tour of the area on local transport that you'll need to use regularly
We'll advise you on local customs and what to expect while you are away and help you feel confident in your new environment.
We have special educational programs to integrate you in the society and work service

Health and Insurance: IVA will do everything possible to ensure that you are healthy and comfort throughout the project. However, you should be aware that the standard of care in each nation differs. Food and water quality as well as sanitary conditions may not be what you are accustomed to. Every effort has been made to ensure the highest health standards. However, part of the responsibility for health maintenance is yours. Be sure to eat wisely and to get enough rest.

Meaningful Projects

The idea of “meaningful” is what drives every program. By this we mean that every project we offer has been arranged by us to be meaningful to you and the organization you’re volunteering for. Put simply: busy, constructive volunteers are happy volunteers and in turn, their host organizations are happy too.
To make this happen, we are constantly challenging our local staff to improve the support we offer the projects and to improve the volunteer experience through enhanced support and backup, before and after their project. Continuous improvement is key.
Our local staff are people. Some are social workers, some conservationists, other are teachers, lawyers, physical therapists, or experienced NGO employees. They understand what placements are needed in relation to development and maximum benefit to the local community and economy.
They are a part of the community: committed to it and, like IVA as a whole, committed to long-term sustainable positive impact through the combined efforts of our volunteers.
We pride ourselves on the support we give an enormous breadth of existing placements across the Caribbean and the fact that, through our local staff, we are able to establish new programs and initiatives where they are needed, such as shelters for street children in, human rights research and advocacy, or conservation work.

Becoming a part of a Vibrant Volunteer Community

By going on an IVA program, you are joining a community of fellow volunteers and local people in developing countries - working hard, traveling, and having a good time while achieving meaningful goals. You will make great friends with your host family, colleagues, and the people living in your host community. You will also make great friends of the other IVA volunteers we send out.
You will not only learn the traditions and customs of the country you are volunteering in, but also those of your fellow volunteers. You can also take part in the exchange by teaching your colleagues about the favorite parts of your culture.
Most do not realize this multicultural aspect of International Volunteer Academy until they arrive, but it is a distinctive part of our unique appeal. You will return with friends from across the globe and plans to visit them someday, or host them back home yourself.
It is also possible to volunteer with your friends from home and we can place and accommodate you together if you would like. Just request this where we ask on the application.

Going the Extra Mile

In addition to the standard safety and backup IVA assures every volunteer, our staff will really go the extra mile for you if you need it. If you are uncomfortable with commuting to your volunteer placement after we show you during your orientation, we will ride on the commute with you again. If you are feeling homesick or having trouble coping with culture shock, we will sit down with you to lend an understanding ear and share our expertise with you. If you get sick or injured while abroad, we will take you to the hospital and be there for you until you are better.

This begins before you even arrive abroad. If you are applying for credit or a grant, we will help you by writing a verification letter, filling out paperwork, or speaking with your school administrators. If you are using your time abroad for research or a dissertation, we can help you design your plan of study; many of us have academic backgrounds ourselves. If you had plans to go abroad by other means that fell through at the last minute, we will pull some strings to get you abroad on one of our programs as soon as possible. If your visa gets denied, we will call the embassy to lobby on your behalf.

Volunteer Academy relies on the efforts of interns and volunteers to make its programs to work for good and therefore we are very flexible and easy to work with. Groups of any size are also welcome. Interning or volunteering is unpaid work but you will gain a lot of precious knowledge and experience for your life. 2. Moldova self care Internship and Volunteer placements. This program is design to travel, study and experience Europe by Internship or Volunteer program in Moldova, close to Russia, apply today with just 40 Euros fee!

3. Volunteer in Moldova, All inclusive. Are you looking for a worthwhile project? Do you want to help disadvantaged children? You can volunteer in an orphanage in the capital city Chisinau, providing children with love, attention and the knowledge that someone cares about them. The project runs all year round but volunteers are particularly in need from Autumn- Spring. 2 meals a day and accommodation is provided and the participation fee is:-2 weeks = 500 EUR, 1 month = 950 EUR.

4. Volunteer in Israel, All inclusive. Organization Experienced in hosting volunteers for 3 years. Fees: $ 60 /day, $ 420/week, $ 1500 /month, $ 15,000/year. Additionally we have internships in aspects of education, youth at risk, environment and so on. There are a guide who will lead the volunteers, make trips for the volunteers around Israel, visits and sport activities.

5. Volunteer in Morocco, All inclusive. 5 years experience in hosting volunteers. Fees: /day15EURO,/week80EURO,/month 230euro,/year2860 EURO. Volunteer opportunities and jobs Child Care & Nursery School Program in Marrakech city.

6. Volunteer in Pakistan. No Local fees. Hosting international volunteers since last four years and serve them in youth led activities and in association with national volunteers. Our organization does not charge any participation fee from volunteers. There are field visits for community development projects, engaging volunteers in social action projects and meetings with community, youth groups, orientations, participation in volunteer training and workshop, engagements in humanitarian assessments and participatory rural appraisals. Internships are also available.

Ghana 3, Full support for volunteers. 7 years experiences working as a volunteer coordinator in the one Region of Ghana, our team have been trained to provide a warm, safe, and clean environment for volunteers and they all has a lot of experience working with volunteers. For one month the fee is $1159- cover: Official invitation , Accommodation is with a host family, Includes Airport Pick up and transportation to the project site, Meals , 24/ 7 in-country support. IRFFMD and its project International Volunteer Academy is dedicated to enhancing the lives of the people (happy people–happy world) by implementing educational, investment, charity and development programs, creating various community service projects, providing health care services to those who need it.

IRFFMD relies on the efforts of interns and volunteers to make its programs to work for good and therefore we are very flexible and easy to work with. Plant a tree to stop global warming, global action

New 2011 international initiative with a goal to plant 1.1 billion trees this year is looking for Partners Globally from all fields of life: Business, Government, Nonprofits, Churches, Sports, Culture, Science, Health, Arts, etc. organizations, also individuals: governors, mayors, local leaders, police, military personnel, as well as local residents, volunteers and youth clubs are more than welcome to partner. Partners this spring and 2011 year will plant trees by their homes, parks, schools, urban areas, rural areas, farms or national forests etc. the action will finish at the end of the year with a celebration and awarding the partners with most achievements.

Planting trees is a simple thing everyone can do to reduce carbon dioxide, a principal greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming. Lupul cel rau si incalzirea globala Era cald, cumplit de cald in anul acela. Oamenii se uitau ciudat, iar batranii sopteau ca este prapadul cel mare. In sudul Frantei parca era mai cald decit la Ecuator. Lumanarile bune, de spermantet, se topeau de caldura in umbra paracliselor iar oamenii nu stiau cum sa se imbrace si cum sa se fereasca de valurile solide si cumplite ale caldurii.

In acea dimineata de iulie, Anne-Marie se trezise prima. Zambi, uitandu-se la surorile si fratiorii ei, care stransi unul in altul, dormeau somnul greu si nevinovat al copiilor. Tanara fata se imbraca iute, lua galetile si porni la fantana sa aduca apa. Anne-Marie mergea repede, afara inca nu se incalzise; de fapt soarele abia sta sa rasara. Intoarse capul spre o miscare abia simtita, scoase un strigat usor, si... In dimineata zilei de 13 iulie 1764 satenii din Saint-Etienne-de-Lugdares, o comuna din zona muntoasa din sudul Frantei descopera o scena de cosmar. Pe cararea fantanei zac ramasitele celei ce fusese una dintre cele mai frumoase fete din regiune, mandria si bucuria satului. Corpul este pe jumatate devorat. Satenii, ingroziti, vad urmele coltilor uriasi in carnea frageda a fetei. Culmea oroarei - inima si ficatul lipsesc. Femeile lesina, barbatii isi strang neputinciosi pumnii, batranii si copii plang. Asa ceva nu se mai pomenise! Se organizeaza o vanatoare, dar fara nici un rezultat. Nenorocirea si-a gasit salas in cocheta localitate de munte. La 18 si 26 iulie sunt atacati in faptul serii o fetita de 15 ani si un ciobanas. Omorati si devorati pe loc de cumplita faptura a noptii. Masacrul este general. Fiara din Gevaudan, cum i se spune, omoara si devoreaza la distante de zeci de kilometri, pare a fi in acelasi timp in mai multe locuri. Este omorat si un barbat in puterea varstei. Fiara il atacase pe la spate, sfaramandu-i ceafa dintr-o singura muscatura. La 6 septembrie, la ora sapte seara este ucisa in propria curte o sateanca din d'Estrets. Fiara si-a infipt coltii uriasi in gatul victimei si i-a supt tot sangele, ca un vampir. La 16 septembrie, un baiat de zece ani este ucis ziua in amiza mare. La 28 septembrie, o fetita este atacata si ucisa aproape in vazul mamei si a celor doi frati mai mari. Animalul pare a fi un lup urias. Fiara din Gevaudan da gres pentru prima data. Ataca o femeie care pazea o turma de vaci. Vitele, inebunite la vederea monstrului, sarjeaza... Fiara trebuie sa se retraga in liziera padurii. Biata femeie, scapata de la o moarte sigura, reuseste sa descrie animalul ucigas. Fiara seamana cu un lup. Numai ca are talia unui vitel de un an de zile. Capul este alungit, cu falci enorme care poarta colti grosi cat un deget de barbat, colti care ies in evidenta. Coada este stufoasa si lunga. Lucru surprinzator, blana este de culoare galben-roscat...cu o dunga neagra pe spate. In tot timpul care s-a scurs de la primul atac, autoritatile nu au ramas inactive. Parohiile au organizat haituieli si mari vanatori. 74 de lupi sunt ucisi in regiunea Gevaudan, dar nici unul nu seamana cu Fiara. In disperare de cauza se cere sprijinul trupelor cantonate la Montpellier, Ministrului de Stat si Ministrului de Razboi, la Versailles. Lupul urias continua sa ucida: mai ales fiinte fragile, lipsite de aparare - copii si femei.

SOSESTE CAVALERIA

In noiembrie 1764 in Gevaudan soseste armata: patru companii comandate de capitanul Du Hamel. Soldatii sunt munteni din regiune, rezistenti si foarte buni ochitori. Intre altii, Du Hamel dispune de 56 de calareti, celebrii dragoni din garnizoana Clermont. Timp de o luna de zile, cei 1200 de militari „pieaptana" padurile, cotrobaie prin tufisuri, nu lasa neverificata nici o crapatura a stancii. Ca si cand ar fi stiut ca armata este pe urmele ei, Fiara dispare. Trec mai mult de patru saptamani si...nimic. Brusc si brutal, la inceputul lui decembrie, Fiara ucide din nou, de mai multe ori. Intotdeauna mutiland ingrozitor victimele. O singura data se intalnesc militarii cu lupul gigantic. Fiara omoara o femeie la marginea unui sat, chiar sub botul cailor dragonilor. Calaretii, condusi de Du Hamel, pornesc in galop, haituind animalul. Ca si cand ar fi stiut, Fiara dispare in spatele unui zid de caramida de trei metri inaltime - obstacol de netrecut pentru calareti.

Prea multe coincidente! Oamenii incep sa vorbeasca, mai intai in soapta, apoi in gura mare. Poate ca Fiara nu este un animal... Se pomeneste de magie neagra, de farmece si blesteme infricosate, de vrajitoare si puternici magicieni, de druizi si de Puterea Padurii. Calugarii batrani scot la iveala pergamente ingalbenite si tomuri ferecate in argint si arama. Este din cauza caldurii , spun ei. Se vorbeste de „loup-garou", lycantropul, omul care se poate transforma in lup la aparitia Lunii. Se recitesc „Guillaume et le loup-garou" si „Lady de Bisclavaret" romane cavaleresti care povestesc aventurile oamenilor care se pot transforma in lupi. Pana si basme nevinovate pentru copii, gen „Scufita Rosie" (basm scris ceva mai tarziu, probabil inspirat din tragedia de la Gevaudan) sunt suspectate de a avea o legatura, sau ca sunt o profetie care anunta aparitia Fiarei.

Nimeni nu mai munceste in Gevaudan. Nobilii din regiune isi petrec tot timpul intr-o neintrerupta vanatoare. Fermierii si taranii lasa campurile si vitele si inarmati cu ce se gasea strabat padurile in lung si in lat. Preotii, ca intotdeauna in vremuri grele, sunt in fruntea credinciosilor, cu Biblia intr-o mina si carabina in cealalta. Localitatile sunt in stare de asediu, iar drumurile sunt patrulate de armata. Sunt vanati un numar impresionant de lupi. Fiara continua sa ucida. Pentru fiecare lup impuscat de vanatori, un copil sau o femeie plateste cu viata.

Curtea regala este ingrozita si scandalizata. Regele trimite in Gevaudan pe un nobil cu sange regal, pe Domnul Antoine, aghiotantul Regelui. Locotenetul regal cerceteaza, ancheteaza, organizeaza, vaneaza - o saptamana, o luna, un an. La 21 septembrie 1765 o unda de bucurie strabate Franta : Domnul Antoine a ucis Fiara ! Regele si curtea privesc uimiti la blana uriasa a unui lup ce parea ca a avut doi metri in lungime. Oficial, cazul este inchis. Blana era...cenusie. In Gevaudan, insa, teroarea era in crestere. Lupul galben apare din nou, mai insetat de sange, mai crud, cuprins parca de o nebunie asasina.

GLONTUL DE ARGINT

Nobilii si taranii se organizeaza: se patruleaza, se cerceteaza, se supravegheaza, se pazeste. Printre ei se afla si Jean Chastel, o ruda indepartata a frumoasei Anne-Marie, prima victima a Fiarei. Legenda spune ca Jean, altfel om petrecaret si vesel, s-a schimbat brusc de la moartea tinerei fete. Mica avere pe care o are o foloseste ca sa cumpere carti si arme. Studiaza Sfintele Scripturi si mai ales Apocalipsa lui Ioan, Comentariile Sfintilor Parinti dar si „grimoare", vechi carti de magie. Calatoreste in tinutul catarilor si are sfaturi de taina cu oameni misteriosi drapati in pelerine negre. Un armurier celebru din Toledo, un maur crestinat, ii face la indicatiile lui Jean o carabina de un calibru impresionant. Un mic tun portabil, dar foarte usor si cu un nou sistem de incarcare si ochire. O piesa unica, o bijuterie, o revolutie capitala in materie de tehnica militara.

Jean Chastel isi petrece noptile in padurile din Gevaudan. Slabeste mult, se misca fara zgomot, iar ochii lui capata rara calitate sa vada in intuneric. Cauta Fiara. Vanatul a devenit vanator. Ca si cand ar fi stiut Fiara din Gevaudan ocoleste saptamani la rand intalnirea fatala.

In dimineata zilei de 19 iunie 1767, pe la ora sase, intalnirea are loc, insa. Jean Chastel pandeste ascuns intr-un tufis, pe liziera padurii, langa Sogne d'Auvert. Din padure, la vreo suta de pasi, fara nici un zgomot, apare lupul urias. Este nelinistit si banuitor, pentru ca se opreste deseori mirosind aerul cu capul enorm dat pe spate. Jean face repede semnul crucii si isi incarca carabina prin dispozitivul care mult mai tarziu avea sa se cheme „incarcator". Ocheste cu grija. Ochii i se umplu de lacrimi, la amintirea nepoatei sale. Atunci, amintindu-si de spusele barbatului acela distins si nobil pe care il intalnise la Monsegur, inchide ochii, ii invoca pe Sfantul Francisc si pe Jacques de Molay, ultimul Mare Maestru al Templului si... trage. Fiara cade fulgerata de glontul de argint, mare cat o nuca si purtand de sapte ori semnul crucii. Se spune ca in locul unde a cazut Fiara ucisa nu a mai crescut iarba niciodata.

Animalul ucis de Jean Chastel era un lup mascul gigantic, avind o greutate de aproape jumatate de tona, o ciudata blana galbuie-roscat, un cap enorm si niste falci ingrozitoare. Dar ceea ce era mai teribil era „expresia" de cruzime, bestialitate si dorinta de omor, care se mai puteu citi in ochii galbeni, acum stinsi. Taranii stropesc Fiara cu apa sfintita, apoi o dau prada focului. Oricum, oficial fusese vanata cu un an mai inainte!

In trei ani Fiara din Gevaudan a omorat peste trei sute de fiinte umane, majoritatea copii si femei. Putea un simplu lup, fie el de dimensiuni gigantice, sa „tina in sah" armata franceza si miile de vanatori? Oare doar un simplu lup a reusit sa strabata distante enorme in doar cateva ore? Un simplu lup stia cand sa se ascunda si cand sa atace fara sa se teama de represalii? Oficial, Fiara din Gevaudan a fost un lup mare...si atata tot!

Si astazi locuitorii din sudul Frantei se uita ciudat cand aud o salbaticiune urland in padure. Fiara poate reveni oricand ! Mai ales cand este cald... ca acum!

REINTOARCEREA FIAREI

Si Fiara s-a intors ! De data asta nu sub forma unui lup gigantic, ci intr-o forma mult mai sofisticata si periculoasa. Lupul mileniului trei se numeste „incalzirea globala". Fenomen cu atat mai periculos cu cat este insidios si relativ lent. Daca pui o broasca in apa clocotita ea va sari imediat salvindu-si viata. Dar daca o pui in apa rece care este adusa treptat la temperatura clocotului nefericita broasca va muri fiarta. Omenirea este in situatia broastei. Va reusi sa-si dea seama la timp de pericol si sa stinga focul pe care ea insasi s-a asezat ?!

Publicul cunoaste din presa ca incalzirea globala este un concept legat de „efectul de sera". Mai toata lumea stie despre cum este produsa incalzirea prin asa numitul efect de sera in care un rol principal il au concentratia din atmosfera de bioxid de carbon, metan si combinatiile fluorului si clorului cu carbonul. Efectul de sera la scara planetara este un fenomen natural si lui ii datoram faptul ca media temperaturilor multianuale este pe glob de +15° C si nu -18° C, cit ar trebui sa fie fara acest fenomen. Fara efectul de sera viata nu ar fi posibila pe Pamant. Cele doua notiuni au fost legate, accidental sau nu, in urma audierii lui James Hanson, directorul Institutului Goddard pentru Studii Spatiale, in fata Comitetului pentru Stiinta, Tehnologie si Spatiu, condus de senatorul Al Gore. Audierea a avut loc in vara anului 1988, cand a fost un anotimp foarte cald in cateva regiuni de pe glob, mai ales in Statele Unite. Hanson a spus „ca este sigur 99% ca temperatura globului a crescut" si in alta parte a interventiei „ca este sigur ca exista un efect de sera". Cele doua notiuni nu au fost puse in ordinea „temperatura globului a crescut din cauza efectului de sera". Aceasta interpretare a fost data mai tarziu de presa scrisa si electronica. Este de asemenea sigur ca a crescut semnificativ concentratia de bioxid de carbon din atmosfera. Inainte de 1800 bioxidul de carbon avea o densitate de 275 de parti dintr-un volum de un milion. Astazi este de 355 de parti dintr-un volum de un milion. Ciudat este ca bioxidul de carbon nu a crescut spectaculos in ultimii ani, ci in secolul XIX, cand industralizarea a folosit pe scara larga arderea combustibililor fosili, ca sursa principala de energie. Intre 1973 si 1990 cresterea a fost foarte redusa, in comparatie cu dinamica din trecut, mai ales datorita aplicarii masurilor ecologice de reducere a poluarii si a proiectelor de reimpadurire. Totusi din 1990 si pana in vara lui 2007 procentul de carbon si media temperaturilor a crescut ingrijorator, cu toate ca s-au aplicat in continuare masuri ecologice, unele stabilite politic la Rio de Janiero sau Kyoto. Normal, pentru ca, probabil, ca este vorba mai mult de politica si mai putin de stiinta. Dupa cum spunea Aaron Wildavsky, profesor de stiinte politice la Berkely : „...incalzirea globala face parte din conceptul general al globalizarii, iar aplicarea unui antidot elementar de reducere drastica a emisiilor de bioxid de carbon pe seama reducerii productiei si consumului este capabil sa realizeze visul ecologistilor al unei societati globale egalitariste bazata pe respingerea cresterii economice in favoarea unei populatii reduse ca numar care consuma mai putin si mananca mai putin, eventual instaurandu-se chiar o dieta globala vegetariana, si care imparte un numar mai redus de resurse, dar in mod mult mai echitabil decat in prezent." Adica sa renuntam la cuptorul cu microunde in favorea focului de tabara, sau al morcovilor necopti. Este o alternativa neacceptabila, mai ales ca focul de vreascuri este mult mai poluant si produce mai mult bioxid de carbon decat cuptorul cu microunde. De fapt aici este cheia rezolvarii problemei tehnologice. Folosirea de surse de energie alternative, iar pentru cele care utilizeaza in continuare combustibili fosili, cresterea eficienta a randamentului si reducerea emisiilor de bioxid de carbon prin tehnologii adecvate.

Si totusi Pamantul se incalzeste. In ultimii zece ani temperatura Pamantului a crescut cu 0,5° C, ceea ce la scara cosmica este imens. Clima pare cuprinsa de o furie oarba. Furtuni si ploi catastrofale ameninta mai toate continentele. Unii ecologisti, triste cucuvele, ameninta cu un tablou dezolant al Pamantului de peste doua sute de ani, un desert dogoritor atotcuprinzator si bantuit de citeva fiinte umane descarnate cu masca de gaze pe figura si cu rani fatale produse de rarele ploi acide. Dar mai sunt si oameni echilibrati, cum ar fi profesorul de meteorologie Alfred P. Sloan de la faimosul Institut Tehnologic din Massachusetts. Care nu respinge in totalitate ipoteza catastrofica. Dar afirma ca Pamantul trece, periodic, printr-un proces natural de incalzire. Cercetarile facute in Arctica si Groelanda arata ca, in trecut, au existat perioade calde urmate de microglaciatiuni. Se pare ca exista un ciclu de vreo 11-12 ani, 60, 108... 20.000 de ani, apoi cicluri de anvergura erelor geologice de 1 si 12 milioane de ani, care au insemnat schimbari dramatice de clima cu efecte majore asupra faunei si a florei. Ce se intampla de fapt?

Raspunsul vine, surprinzator, din alta regiune a stiintei. O informatie „clasificata" adica strict secreta, a iesit la suprafata de cateva zile. Probabil ca urmare a unei decizii politice de obisnuire a publicului cu anumite realitati, altfel ciudate si inspaimantatoare. Un genetician de la Harvard, pe nume Ronny White, afirma, intr-un insipid si greu de urmarit articol stiintific ca viata unei fiinte de pe Pamant este determinata de cele patru elemente ale codului genetic din structura acizilor nucleici : adenina (A), cirozina (C), guanina (G) si timina (T). Dupa cum sunt imbinate, de exemplu ATACAGAT, etc. sau chiar „GATTACA" ele determina insusiri, sau caracteristici ale fiintei respective. Pana aici, nimic nou, iar pentru descoperirea „bazelor purinice" s-a luat deja un premiu Nobel. Insa White continua, aratand ca temperatura joaca un rol important in reactiile biochimice, si ca producerea unei mutatii este exponential mai mare cu cat caldura ambienta creste si ea. Aveau dreptate batranii calugari cind spuneau ca Fiara din Gevaudan este fructul caldurii . Omenirea este la rascruce si nu din cauza efectului de sera, ci din cauza mutatiilor care se pot produce. Va este cald? Nu credeti?! Asteptati cateva decenii si o sa-l vedeti pe Dracul imbracat nemteste !
