We often forget the power of our breath in training our mind.
But the mind is very much a part of the physical body, The thoughts we have, when negative, can be greatly exaggerated when we allow our physical sensation of upset to have its way. Likewise our negative thoughts can be dissipated when we deal with our physical sensation of angst. And one of the best ways to disappear physical symptoms of upset is to breath- and even breath deeply, if possible.
This is how we increase our mental power. This is how we train our brain so that we run our thoughts- and our thoughts do not run us.
You can read the entry at:
http://hubpages.com/hub/Increase-Mental-Power

Lorelei F is a Writer, Speaker, and Activist who works for enlightenment and has coined the term Second Hand Addict.

Lullabies Are Not Only For Little Children

When we talk about mind entrainment, or training the brain we often forget the power of music to affect the human brain in a positive or negative direction. It is an important thing to remember- the brain being comprised of electrical circuits and impulses, and musical vibrations being converted to electrical impulse in the brain. So there is a strong connection in music's ability to increase mental power. If you have never seen it, it is fascinating to watch a video of music's affect on the cells of the human body- realigning them and literally changing their physical shape.

Now I did not know about this when I was healing from state of loving someone with life-threatening addiction. The life of what I call a "Second Hand Addict" (www.secondhandaddiction.blogspot.com) was a madhouse- a roller coaster of conflicting emotions and powerlessness, with no ability to get off the ride.

In some of my worst moments of sadness and pain I would retreat to the bedroom, lock the door and put on my Shaina Noll Tape that I had heard about in my women's group. The tape was called SONGS FOR THE INNER CHILD and you can check find out about it at http://www.shainanoll.com/ It was a tape of what might best be termed as lullabyes, soft and sweet and comforting. When I lstened to it, immediately I was brought back to the state of being a little girl, being hugged, loved, comforted. And for those few minutes of songs I would be taken out of that personal hell that I then lived in and brought back to a place of love.

How does this relate to Increasing Mental Power? I could then go back into the world again and function as normal. The music had worked its magic on the very cells in my body, aligning them back into proper shape and form so that I could function again- in much the same way that mind entrainment works.

Later as I began to move away from that crazy life, I would sing those same lullabyes to my children- passing on the peace and healing in their life of turmoil with a disintegrating family.
Today- even as a teenager- my son still asks me to sing him to sleep once in a while with a Shaina Noll lullaby called You can be Anybody That You Want to Be.

He has learned a crucial lesson in life. Lullabies are not only for little children.
Lorelei F is a Writer, Speaker, and Activist who works for enlightenment and has coined the term Second Hand Addict.

"Easy Does It"- A Simple But Powerful Tool

In Alanon (for families and friends of alcoholics they have a saying) and in the chaos of living with another person's addiction, it is quite helpful. The saying is "Easy Does It. "And that is it. Sometimes the most powerful things are quite small and simple.

But these three small words are so meaningful, if you can train the mind to remember to use them in the right context. In the framework of Alanon you sit in a meeting and hear people talk about a slogan like "easy does it." You hear how people were able to make use of the slogan when the chaos of their mind became overwhelming. You hear of peoples victories over self, and it is inspiring.

You can also use a slogan like 'Easy does it' to bring your mind to the present. In the midst of chaos you just think or say "easy does it." Then you take a deep breath. Then you go about the business of the one small thing you are doing at this moment. Some call this 'being in the present.' Eckart Tolle calls it "Living in the Now" and it is a powerful place to live if you want to shift and change your life.

So make a practice of saying Easy does it, coming back to the present, and training your mind to live in the Now. And see what this one small practice does for your world and your life.

There is also an excerpt below from my latest article On Heaven, Hell, and The Law of Attraction Energy. You can read it at my hub at:

www.hubpages.com/hub/law-of-attraction-energy

Let us consider that Jesus’ point was not that we become Christians, then get the prize- which is the Kingdom of Heaven. After all there was no such thing as Christianity at the time, so how could he be discussing that. So instead let us suppose that the point Jesus was making was that we become Christ-like. The point was that we follow the light of God within us, as taught by Jesus. (And coincidentally as also taught by Ghandi, Buddha, Martin Luther King Jr., and many other great spiritual leaders.) Let us suppose that when we become Christ-like, regardless of our religion, we have found eternal life. Because being Christ-like, in its highest sense, encompasses our light, and our love, and all that is good and beautiful. And GOD is the life/light/love force in the universe. So he, and we, are eternal.
Lorelei F is a Writer, Speaker, and Activist who works for enlightenment and has coined the term Second Hand Addict.

Training Your Mind to Increase Mental Power

When you talk about how to increase mental power, you can get a vision of your mind, working fast and furious, at warp speed- solving issues and problems left and right.

This seems to make sense, right?

Except that as we enter this new age of enlightenment we begin to see that the mind has a ‘mind of its own.’ And getting caught up in the obsessive swirl of the mind following its agenda has become what Ekhart Tolle calls society’s ‘disease’ of compulsive thinking. And in actuality what we need to do is quiet the mind, and slow it down so that it can perform its duties when necessary with more power.

How many of you, for instance, have gone through a time of tribulation in your life and have felt the stifling sensation of not being able to escape thinking about the problem. You try a hot bath- still the thoughts continue. You put the TV on- the thoughts sit in the background. You take a jog- your mind continues to churn. You try to sleep- but cannot. Finally desperate, you may seek peace through a sleeping pill- only to wake up still tired and with the same thoughts present. The mind in this sense could be seen as some out-of-control computer. You keep hitting the off button, but it won’t turn off. And it doesn’t solve the problem you want it to. It just churns away at the problem it wants to focus on- with very little success.

At times like this, it seems the mind is your bitter enemy. Not only does it work compulsive, whether you want it to or not. But the messages it sends to you- such as “You’re a failure” “What’s wrong with you?” “Can’t you do anything right”- are disheartening at best.

So the task when you increase mental power becomes one of literally training the mind. We need to train the mind about when to turn on and when to turn off. And we need to train the mind to focus on our subject, not its own.

And I can give personal testimony that yes, this can be done. For instance, right now I am facing what could occur to others as insurmountable obstacles in my personal life. To name a few, my beloved father is passing away and I cannot be there with him. My back is healing from an injury, and the instability of a new business has me living in the question mark in life. But because I have trained my mind, and it does not run me, I live a stable, peaceful life, one day at a time.

I have many methods that I use to train my mind and increase mental power. Today I have been focusing on things that can be done while lying down for my back. I have utilized a brain entrainment CD, a hypnosis CD, and a meditation CD- all of which I highly recommend. I have also taken a nice walk in nature. This is inherently meditational, as long as you keep recalling the mind to ‘think of nothing.’ By the way, when you do this, you should also thank it for sharing. Remember that your mind, however misguided, is only trying to help you.

Here are two awesome tools for you to train your own brain.

QUANTUM MIND POWER

MIND SYNC
Lorelei F is a Writer, Speaker, and Activist who works for enlightenment and has coined the term Second Hand Addict.

Increase Mental Ability- Is there an easier way?

You actually can increase mental power. Everyone is saying it.

And science tells us that we currently use no more than 70% of our brain's capabilities. Yet we struggle to cram our brains with content in this, the information age, where it seems to be particularly important to ‘know everything.’ Then too, along with the cramming comes the seemingly fantastical claims that we can ‘have it all’- including wealth, happiness, abundance, and breath-taking love- simply by making up our minds to it, and using our brains in a more productive fashion.

I have come across a myriad of powerful mind changing tools. In the twelve steps of Alanon, AA, or OA for instance, there are wonderful books and slogans that hope to instill in people a new way of thinking. Then too, there are Louise Haye’s affirmations in the form of mini-books and daily reading cards. With these you can work everyday to replace the negative thoughts in your head with positive ones. There are meditations, yoga, and body-mind-spirit practices which seek to unlock the power of the mind by going within the body.

How often have you gone to a party in this, the‘ new age of enlightenment’ and heard someone talk about ‘mind over matter’ or a way to increase mental power. If you’re like me you nodded your head yes to the person across from you, while also thinking “Well, you can say it- but can you do it?” Or more to the point, you thought ‘But can I really do it.” And there may have been some frustration because you’d been working on that skill for a long time already. And if you’re like me, you were probably not acknowledging your successes- but only how far you seemed to be from your goals.

My experiences with ‘mind over matter’ have included some life-changing things- such as a course called The Landmark Forum- where you delve into the very question of what it means to be human. I have looked at myself as a human being, and how my very self was created at a young age. I have dissected the process so that I could shift my way of being to become all that I want to be. In this process I have looked at the very way my brain operates, which sometimes empowers me but very often dis-empowers me.

It has been said that the mind is a machine. It is a machine very much like a computer. When you input information into the mind’s machine, the mind comes up with an answer. Unfortunately, sometimes what you put in the machine is intrinsically flawed information. Life gives the mind a scarring experience. Life gives it other people’s words that cause pain. Life gives the mind physical and emotional trauma. Usually these events are not the average. They are not happening every day. But by their very oddity the machine that is the mind singles them out, and makes special note of them. It then outputs some negative thought into your brain that will stick with you for life- and may sometimes be so intrinsic that you can’t even see it.

I have often wondered, is it truly possible that the mind can speak to the very cells in your body? Is it true that the mind can heal cancerous cells, cause you to lose weight, whether or not you diet, and allow you to become masterful at some task that even if you believe yourself to have no skill in that direction. I have wondered if this were the true meaning of the biblical term that ‘faith can move a mountain.’ Perhaps truly believing does cause miracles. Or perhaps the truly believing is the miracle.

In the matter of ‘mind over matter’, I have recently uncovered a strong desire to skip over all of the hard work. I yearn to give up the daily reading of affirmations, and little bathroom books, and just have my brain work for me, instead of against me, as a matter of course. And this desire and wish has led me to the concept of “Brain Entrainment.” My fascination is this question. Can I actually retrain my brain to think in a more functional, empowering way- without even working at it? Can I even do this in my sleep. Many people say it is infinitely possible- and even probable- that this can happen, when given the right technique. I am experimenting with this method even now, and will let you know the outcome.

Until then, my task as I look at brain entrainment, seems to be one and only one thing… to keep doing it, plugging away at a steady pace, for a few minutes a day, every day. This may very well be the key that has me permanently increase mental power- no matter which methodology I choose.

This is an amazing "train your brain" tool.

This one is equally great.
Lorelei F is a Writer, Speaker, and Activist who works for enlightenment and has coined the term Second Hand Addict.
