Mexico City also abbreviated as CDMX is the capital of Mexico .It is one of the most amazing city and a very enjoyable destination with many historical centres and world heritage places. It’s just a three hour flight from Los Angeles and eleven hour flight from Amsterdam/London.

Mexico City is a warm weather city which enjoys climates of all the three seasons Rain, Summer and winter. It’s is also most populous city in North America.

The Two nearest Airport to reach Mexico City is Benito Juarez International Airport and Toluca International Airport. Many budget airlines that fly to Toluca are Delta Airline , Airomexico.

It was 12th October,2017. I started my journey from Mumbai India from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport to Benito Juarez International Airport in Mexico.This is also my first ever international trip which is via Abu Dhabi & Rome.

For a first time goer even a stopover gives such sense of excitement of just landing in the foreign land and watching over different people of many ethnicity and culture.

So my Layover was in Abu Dhabi in United Arab Emirates. It was a three and half an hour journey from Mumbai, India.My airline was Etihad Airlines.My flight reached there almost around 3am.Because of which I don’t have any images.

I crossed my border security checks reported in the terminal for my connecting flight to Rome. Leonardo da Vince international Aurora (Rome International Airport) After my lunch I boarded my flight to Mexico City in Alitalia Airline. I must mention the service was amazing and food was delicious.

I reached Mexico City in the evening of 13th October. The journey was almost a 24+ hours flight. I must say that was a long journey however I wasn’t a bit tired.

I was greeted by my wonderful colleague Gustavo Libresos a Mexican by birth and American by heart who also showed me the near by places of my hotel the Host.

During my stay of over a year, I have not only thoroughly enjoyed exploring many places in Mexico City but also cherished living with local and Celebrating their culture.

Some of the most important places to visit in Mexico City are :

Bosque de Chapultepec:

It is one of the largest City parks in Mexico measuring in total just over 1700 hectares. It features many attractions such as Different types of zoos and museums. The zoo houses some of the Native species that are endangered and threatened such as Giant panda, Mexican wolf,Jaguar, Volcano Rabbit. It had a section of the Zoo dedicated for different species of butterflies. A big section is dedicated to different types of monkeys.

In the entrance you will find a beautiful artificial giving a spectacular view of the modern workplaces in the center of the city. One can ride a boat while enjoying the view By taking row boat or paddle boat on rental.

There is lake side restaurant where you can have a special dining experience in the park and a long walking lane inside the forest.

Frida Kahlo Museum:

It is a historic house museum and art museum dedicated to the life and work of Mexican Artists Frida Kahlo. It is located in the neighbourhood of Coyoacán.The building is her birthplace where she lived with her husband and died. The house along with the art collection of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera also host Mexican folk art, artefacts, personal items and photographs etc.

The museum also known as blue house.

Zócalo:

It is the name of the main square at the centre of Mexico City. It’s surrounded by presidential palace, government offices and Cathedral metropolitan.

It’s is surrounded by jewellery shops and extravagant hotel lines. The square has served as forum of mass protests,free concerts, events related to dis de muertos. There is a huge Mexican flag which is managed by the Mexican army.

Chapultapec Castle:

The Park houses Chapultapec castle which is a historical site and a local landmark. The castle is on the top of the hill Offers a commanding view of the spectacular city.It is the only castle in Mexico City to house the royalty in North America. It was home of Emperors Maximilian who played an important role in American and Mexican war. After housing royalty,Chapultapec castle was an observatory,a military college and a official guest house for foreign dignitaries.It has the national historic museum. It allows free entry to visitors with a resident permit. For tourists it charges a minimum entry fee.

The museum gives you a great idea about history and culture of living classic lifestyle.

Palacio de Bellas Artes:

It is a prominent cultural center in Mexico City. It is famous for hosting regular theatre, music, dance, opera and literature.

The building features murals executed by some of the most famous artists like Diego Rivera. It houses exhibition halls for of sculptures and paintings.

It is also home to the national museum of architecture and national theatre.It was occupied by national institute of fine art since 1947.This has been an artistic centre for opera, music, dance, art and literature.The crystal roof creates a gallery spaces naturally illuminated by skylights.

Somaya Museum:

The private museum was named after soumaya Domit, who died in 1999 and was the wife of founder Carlos slim.The museum is located in the centre of the city Polanco. Famous for its unique architecture and its exterior , it is one of the most visited art museum in Mexico.

Entry to the museum is free of cost. It has collection of over 66000 pieces of art. It also hosts historical coins, artefacts,Mexican And European art. It holds large collection of Sculptures by Rodin and Salvador Dali. The director of the museum has claimed the worth of the art it holds be over $700 millions.

Paseo de la Reforma:

Paseo de la reforma , one of the Mexico City’s thoroughfares. It was built by the emperor Maximilian as a route from his residence at Chapultapec Castle to the National palace in the city center. The original name Paseo de la Emperatriz was changed to Reforma by president Benito Juarez.

Reforms is now home to modern skyscrapers hotels and high rise office blocks bustling with business activities and bumper to bumper traffic.

Angel of Independence:

One of the famous landmark of Mexico City is Angel de Independence. It is located between reforma and rio Tiber and Florence street.It was built during the the dictatorial rule of porfirio Diaz. It’s was built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the war of Independence.

It is a focal point for many Celebrations and protests and is always a busy place with huge traffic. The sculptures symbolises war, piece, law and justice.

Coyoacán Market:

It is famous for its magical neighbourhood. It is a very famous place for snacks stalls, fruit market, sea food, crafts Mexican designs and flew markets.

It’s located near Frida Kahlo museum. It is quite famous and must visit places among tourists and locals.

My first day experience in Mexico City:

One of exhibitors showcasing the project to attract crowd in front of Pepsi convention hall in World Trade Centre.

Thats the world trade centre of mexico city.

A architectural masterpiece which also has a rotational restaurant on the top floor. The ground floors of World Trade Center has convention Halls where lot of events happens. Almost every other day we would see big line for the tickets at Pepsi convention Hall.

By now I interacted with many locals who even though had great difficultly to understand me but try their best to help me out. I was amazed by their hospitality to a stranger from India. That was first impression which holds strong till today.

May be thats why Mexico and Mexican people would be always very special to me. Along with me there was Darshan who also went to Mexico City from India.

One my first day at office I met my colleagues Erika and JCC Juan Cordos Cordoba. Two lovely Spanish guys. They were generous enough to have a short trip us to show us around Mexico City , the metros and the near by parks .

One of the public parks. Surprisingly Most of the the near by places near World trade centre are named after Americans and European countries. To name as few Arizona street, Indianapolis,Texas, New York, Chicago and Miami etc...

However the bigger places are not named in similar fashion. Some of them are Roma Sur, Tacubaya, La Condesa, San Pedro etc...

The restaurant is located in Amsterdam street. And the street will actually make you feel it is in Amsterdam. There are flower bouquet shops everywhere.

We ended the day with a light dinner in a street side restaurant having cheese tortillas with 5 types of cheese layers in it. It was yummy.

Trip to hidalgo

One of our Mexican colleague who became a very good friend took us to this amazing place hidalgo waterfall. The rope way bridge at a height of 200 ft and the square size stone craving were very unique to experience for us.

It is a one day trip from Mexico City to Hidalgo. It was a sunny day in Mexico City, we got ready, Erika was wearing a beautiful skirt but by the time we reached Hidalgo, it became cold windy day and we had to buy some winter clothes. It was me Darshan, Erika and her brother Ross.

Trip to los angel:

Flight from Mexico City to Los Angeles, California early morning 5 o clock we started from the house . The Spanish speaking Uber driver and our Indian configured Uber App co-ordinating them was quite adventure to start our trip with.

We reached los angel airport at 11 oh clock morning. One of our close friend who live in Los Angeles had come to airport to pick us. The joy of seeing close childhood friends after a really long time can’t be expressed in words. As we drive in the long wide roads of los angels peeping to beautiful landscapes outside many conversations goes on between the close buddies.

We were treated to the lovely home made food by my friend Hema. Then the never ending talk starts , topics about early memories of marriage, food in Karnataka to life in a foreign countries.

Then we rest and go to the The Griffith Observatory. sitting on the south-facing slope of Mount Hollywood in Los Angeles' Griffith Park. It gives a spectacular view of the Los Angeles Basin, including Downtown Los Angeles to the southeast, Hollywood to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the southwest.
