Union minister of Communication and IT Kapil Sibal today released a postal stamp to mark the 800th Urs of Sufi Saint Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti here. The stamp was released in the ceremony hall Mehfil Khana of the Dargarh premises in the presence of a large number of Zayrines (pilgrims). Sibal said that the stamp was dedicated to the pilgrims and it will spread the message of Khawaja wherever it will go on envelopes. MoS Communications and IT Sachin Pilot, members of Anjuman committee and others were also present.

February 14, 2007 in Raipur, Chhattisgarh), veteran Indian National Congress leader was 3 times Chief Minister of undivided Madhya Pradesh. He was Chief minister of the state from 26 March 1969 to 28 January 1972, 23 December 1975 to 29 April 1977 and 9 December 1989 to 4 March 1990. He is the son of first Chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Pt. Bhai Jagta Ji was an Apostle of Peace, a practicing equalitarian, a true renunciant, a uniquely endowed Gnostic and a most compassionate and forgiving soul. He was a true picture of a Saint as described by Guru Arjan Dev Ji in the ‘Sukhmani Sahib’ prayer. He was revered by kings, maharajas, saints, the general public, the handicapped, the poor, and even by unlawful people, alike. He even helped people who disliked him, maligned him, cursed at him or even stole from him. Witnessing his glory in the area, and because of his piety, dedication, service and benevolence, he was anointed Spiritual Preceptor of the ‘Seva Panthi’ Order of Saints by Bhai Bhalla Ram Ji. He was the 5th spiritual incarnation of Bhai Kanhaiya Ji. His service at the Noorpur Thal Tikana was so highly significant that when the Tikana was re-established, upon the partition of India in 1947, the 10th spiritual incarnate of Bhai Kanhaiya Ji, Mahant Bhai Gulab Singh Ji respectfully named the Tikana Sahib at Goniana Mandi, in honor of Bhai Jagta Ji. This Tikana is the Pre-eminent Center of Service within the Seva Panthi Order of Saints. The Tikana follows the traditions of the Noorpur Tikana, as established by Bhai Jagta Ji, serving humanity, without regard to caste, creed or religion.

Madan Mohan Malaviya

Madan Mohan Malaviya (1861–1946) was an Indian educationist, and freedom fighter notable for his role in the Indian independence movement and his espousal of Hindu nationalism. Later in life, he was also addressed as 'Mahamana'.He was the President of the Indian National Congress on four occasions and today is most remembered as the founder of the largest residential university in Asia and one of the largest in the world, having over 12,000 students across arts sciences, engineering and technology, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) at Varanasi in 1916, of which he also remained the Vice Chancellor, 1919–1938 Pandit Malviya was one of the founders of Scouting in India.He also founded a highly influential, English-newspaper, The Leader published from Allahabad in 1909. He was also the Chairman of Hindustan Times from 1924 to 1946. His efforts resulted in the launch of its Hindi edition in 1936.

Srinivasa Ramanujam - Mathematics Wizard

India Post released New stamp for Srinivasa Ramanujam in his 125th birth anniversary. Stamp Released by our honorable Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in Chennai also declared December 22, the birthday of Ramanujan, as ‘National Mathematics Day.’

Srinivasa Iyengar Ramanujan ( 22 December 1887 – 26 April 1920 ) was an Indian mathematician, Born in Erode, Tamil Nadu, India, to a poor Brahmin family, Ramanujan first encountered formal mathematics at age10. He demonstrated a natural ability, and was given books on advanced trigonometry written by S. L. Loney. He mastered them by age 12, and even discovered theorems of his own, including independently re-discovering Euler's identity. He demonstrated unusual mathematical skills at school, winning accolades and awards. By 17, Ramanujan conducted his own mathematical research on Bernoulli numbers and the Euler–Mascheroni constant. He received a scholarship to study at Government College in Kumbakonam, but lost it when he failed his non-mathematical coursework.

He joined another college to pursue independent mathematical research, working as a clerk in the Accountant-General's office at the Madras Port Trust Office to support himself. In 1912–1913, he sent samples of his theorems to three academics at the University of Cambridge. Only Hardy recognised the brilliance of his work, subsequently inviting Ramanujan to visit and work with him at Cambridge. He became a Fellow of the Royal Society and a Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge, dying of illness, malnutrition and possibly liver infection in 1920 at the age of 32.

During his short lifetime, Ramanujan independently compiled nearly 3900 results (mostly identities and equations).Although a small number of these results were actually false and some were already known, most of his claims have now been proven correct. He stated results that were both original and highly unconventional, such as the Ramanujan prime and the Ramanujan theta function, and these have inspired a vast amount of further research. However, the mathematical mainstream has been rather slow in absorbing some of his major discoveries. The Ramanujan Journal, an international publication, was launched to publish work in all areas of mathematics influenced by his work.

Kavi Pradeep - Noted Poet

India Post Released a special commemorative postal stamp on Pt Kavi Pradeep, a noted poet whose songs played a major role during the country's freedom struggle,released by President Pratibha Patil.The President launch the stamp on December 11 at a simple function in Amravati, Maharashtra, in the presence of Law Minister Salman Khurshid and Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology Sachin Pilot. It is the first step towards the preparation for Pt Kavi Pradeep's centenary celebrations which falls on February 6, 2015, Avinash Pande, Chairman of Kavi Pradeep Foundation, said in a release here today. The poet, originally known as Ramchandra Naryanji Dwivedi, was born in Badnagar in Ujjain district in Madhya Pradesh and had a passion for writing and rendering Hindi poetry. His songs like 'Aj Himalay ki choti se phir hamne lalkara hai...door hato ae duniyawalon hindustan hamara hai' played a crucial role in the country's freedom struggle. Kavi Pradeep also penned a song in tribute to soldiers who died in 1962 Sino-Indian War and was also a towering figure in Hindi cinema. During his film career spanning nearly five decades, Kavi Pradeep penned lyrics for 72 films like Bandhan (1940) and Jai Santoshi Ma (1975). The foundation plans to celebrate the centenary year by spreading the message of patriotism and dedication towards the cause of motherland.

India Post Released a Stamp for "Grand Lodge of India" on 25th November 2011. The Grand Lodge of India was formed on 24th Nov 1961.The honor of receiving Freemasonry in India goes to Calcutta. In 1730 officers of the East Indian Company held their meetings in Fort William, Calcutta. In as much as numerous Lodges had been constituted in India by the Moderns while others had come into existence Ancient auspices, quite naturally much of the Ritualistic differences established themselves into the respective Lodges. This situation was complicated somewhat by the fact that there were also Lodges in India of Irish & Scottish origins.However, it was in India, where both the warring groups joined together in harmony long before the formation of the Union of England. In 1785, the Atholl Lodge at Madras surrounded its powers and accepted the United Prov. Grand Lodge. The old Atholl Lodge was recorded as lodge of Perfect Unanimity [later numbered as No. 150]. Madras had thus stolen a march of 27 years over the United Grand Lodge of England, which was formed in 1813. First Omdat-ul-Omrah, the Nawab of Carnatic. Than The second Indian Mason was M. Bandeh Ali Khan, initiated in Marine Lodge, Calcutta in 1812.Dutch Constitution - Lodge Solomon was founded on April 7, 1758 at Tandelga near Chinsurah in Bengal by the commander of the merchant fleet of the Netherlands East India Company, Bro. Jacob Larwood Van Chevichaven.French Constitution - Lodge Sincere Amite, Pondicherry was chartered in 1787. There were quite a few Naval Lodges. Though Naval Lodges were not recognized by the Grand Lodge of France, the members of the Naval Lodge in due course found their way to get affiliated to and remain under the protection of a stationary Lodge.Scottish Constitution - Into the sub-continent the first Lodge under the Scottish Constitution was consecrated in 1801 in Ceylon (Sri Lanka). One Lodge Hope No. 334 SC, Karachi was charted in 1767; in 1770 it was shifted to New Castle and in 1782 to New York. The date of its arrival in India cannot at present be stated. Lodge Hope was charted by the PGM of Western India on April 25, 1842.

India Post Released New Stamp for "Chitrapur Math"on 09th October 2011.Chitrapur Math is the central Math (community temple) for the Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin sect. This Math is located in Shirali in North Kanara area of Karnataka and has been there since 1757. The other Maths of this community are located in Gokarn, Karla, Mangalore and Mallapur. All the Maths have the insignia of the saffron flag as shown above.

The chief deity worshipped in this Math is Shri Bhavanishankar (shown in the picture above) who is a form of Lord Shiva. The other 6-7 sanctorums of the temple are reserved for the Samadhis of the previous GuruSwami's of the community. Daily Puja is carried out at the shrine of Lord Bhavanishankar as well as the other Swamis.H.H. Sadyojat Shankarashram Swamiji is currently the Head of the Math having ascended the Peetha in February 1997. Shree Sadyojat Shankarashram Swamiji is the eleventh Guru of this illustrious lineage of Gurus which began in 1708.

The 10 Rupees Postage stamp depicting Mahatma Gandhi issued by India in 1948 is one of India's most famous stamps.A set of 100 of these stamps were overprinted with the word "Service" and provided only to the Governor General of India for his official use. This "Service" overprinted stamp is one of India's costliest and rarest stamps. This stamp was a part of the "Service" 1948 set which was auctioned for 38,000 Euros in the David Feldman's auction sale on 5 October 2007.In an auction on May 19 2011 at Geneva, David Feldman's sold the 1948 10 Rupee Mahatma Gandhi stamp of India for a World Record price of EUR 144,000 (US$ 205,000), this is also a record for the most expensive modern stamp.The stamp, probably the finest remaining example out of only 18 known in existence today, was issued by the Government of India as a set of 4 commemorative stamps on August 15th, 1948 as a tribute to the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated in January of the same year . These were the first commemorative stamps of Independent India, and issued in 4 denominations – 1 ½ / 3 ½ / 12 Annas, and the 10 Rupees. A set of only 100 10 Rs. stamps (in two sheets) were overprinted with “Service”, making these the world’s least printed stamp.

Dr Madhav Shrihari Aney (29 August,1880 - 26 January,1968) was an Indian politician. He passed his B.A. examination from Morris College in Nagpur in 1902 and passed his B.L. examination from Calcutta University in 1907. He was one of the founder of the Congress Nationalist Party. He was one of the eminent disciples of Lokmanya Tilak apart from N C Kelkar, Kakasaheb Khadilkar, Gangadhar Deshpande, Dr B S Munje, Abhyankar, T B Paranjpe and Wamanrao Joshi.In 1937, he was elected to the Central Legislative Assembly. During 1941-1943, he was a member of Governor General's Executive Council. He resigned in 1943, when the British Indian government refused to release Mahatma Gandhi, while he was on fast. He was the High Commissioner to Ceylon from 1943 to July, 1947. He joined the Constituent Assembly in 1947.After Indian independence, Dr M S Aney was Governor of Bihar from 12 January 1948 to 14 June 1952. He was also a member of the 3rd Lok Sabha from 1962 to 1967, representing Nagpur constituency. He died on 26 January, 1968 evening, the very day he was honored with Padma Vibhushan.In 1973,he was posthumously honored with the Sahitya Akademi Award for Sanskrit for his Shritilakayashornava (1971),a Sanskrit biography of Bal Gangadhar Tilak.

The Rashtrapati Bhavan (Sanskrit for Presidential House/Palace) or The Official Residence of the Head of the State is the official residence of the President of India,located at Raisina hill in New Delhi,India.Until 1950 it was known as "Viceroy's House" and served as the residence of the Viceroy and Governor-General of India.It is amidst an area known as Lutyens'Delhi.At present,it is the largest residence of any Chief of the State in the world.The construction of the building was planned for 4 years,but World War I intervened and construction required 19 years to complete.Its first occupant,Lord Irwin,began occupation on Jan. 23, 1931.

Kasu Brahmananda Reddy ( born July 28, 1909 - Death May 20, 1994) at Hyderabad, was the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, India from February 29, 1964 to September 30, 1971. On June 3, 1977 he was elected president of the Indian National Congress.Kasu Brahmananda Reddy is credited with creating the Industrial infrastructure in and around Hyderabad. Only congress president to expel Indira Gandhi from Indian National Congress. During his long regime of seven years (Longest for any Congress chief minister in the state of Andhra Pradesh), many major industries like BHEL, HMT, IDPL, Hindustan Cables and several defense establishments like MIDHANI, Bharath Dynamics were established. During his tenure as the Chief Minister, Jalagam Vengal Rao, the Home Minister was instrumental in suppressing the naxal movement in the north coastal Andhra Pradesh. Kasu spared no effort to keep AP united, even in the face of Telangana separatist movement in 1969.He also held the key positions, such as Home Minister of India (1974–1977) and the Governor of Maharastra (February 20, 1988 to January 18, 1990).The famous Chiran Palace was named after Kasu Brahmananda Reddy National Park in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, was named in his honor.

Daulat Singh Kothari, popularly known as D. S. Kothari, was an outstanding scientist. He was a great educationist.D.S. Kothari was born on July 6, 1906 at Udaipur. At that time Udaiput was in the Mewar State of Rajasthan. His father, Shri Fateh Lal Kothari, was a school teacher. Kothari had three brothers and one sister.After his MSc, in which he stood first in order of merit, Kothari took an appointment as demonstrator in the Department of Physics of the Allahabad University. After two years working as Demonstrator he went to England for higher studies.In May 1934 Kothari Joined the Delhi University as Reader and Head of the Physics Department. In those days the science departments of the Delhi University functioned in a hired building in Kashmiri Gate.India gOvernment gave the Padma Bhusan and Padma Vibhushan awards for his excellent work. He was appointed as chairperson of University Grants Commission.Besides this he held many other important posts in the field of Education.He has won several honours and awards for his contribution in the field of Science and Education. .He died on 4th February 1993.

Rabindranath Tagore was an icon of Indian culture. He was a poet, philosopher, musician, writer, and educationist.He was popularly called as Gurudev and his songs were popularly known as Rabindrasangeet. Two songs from his Rabindrasangit canon are now the national anthems of India and Bangladesh: the Jana Gana Mana and the Amar Shonar Bangla. Rabindranath Tagore was born on May 7, 1861 in a wealthy Brahmin family in Calcutta. He was the ninth son of Debendranath and Sarada Devi. His grandfather Dwarkanath Tagore was a rich landlord and social reformer. Rabindra Nath Tagore had his initial education in Oriental Seminary School. More than 1,000 people were feared dead in the massive tsunami triggered by Japan's most powerful earthquake which wrought devastation in northeast coastal Japan forcing the government to declare emergency at two nuclear plants after their cooling systems failed. Kyodo news agency reported that 217 bodied have been recovered while the toll could be over 1,000The cooling systems in two key nuclear power plants at Fukushima plant were disabled and Japan's nuclear safety agency has said that the plant will release slightly radioactive vapour from the unit to lower the pressure in an effort to protect the reactor from a possible meltdown.Prime Minister Naoto Kan ordered evacuation of over 45,000 residents living within 10-kilometres radius of the nuclear plants.A strong 6.7-magnitude earthquake hit the country's mountainous Niigata prefecture northwest of Tokyo early this morning, causing landslides and avalanches and destroying some wooden houses.On Friday, the gushing waters following the 8.9-magnitude quake, the most powerful since the 1923 tremor in Great Kanto area in Tokyo and its vicinity which was 7.9 on Richter scale and had killed more than 140,000 people, swept houses, overturned ships, vehicles and set ablaze several buildings, including a petrochemical plant.Most of the bodies were recovered from Sendai.Japan's military-mobilized thousands of troops, 300 planes and 40 ships have been set up for the relief effort, Kyodo reported.At least 60 people were killed in Iwate prefecture and other places. A 67-year-old man was killed after being hit by a crumbling wall in Chiba prefecture, while a woman in her 50s died after a portion of a roof of a hall collapsed in Tokyo.The National Police Agency said 531 people were reported missing and 627 others were injured in the quake and the 33-foot tidal waves in the country's northeast coast.Television images showed fires raging in several building complexes as also a major petrochemical complex in Sendai. The tsunami also flooded the Sendai airport.

Ranbir Singh Hooda is well known in Haryana's Jat heartland for his role in India's freedom struggle as a leading member of the Indian National Congress.Born on November 26,1914,in the house of Matu Ram in Sanghi village Rohtak district,Hooda studied at Vaish High School, Rohtak, Government College,Rohtak and Ramjas College,Delhi from where he graduated in early thirties.He was imprisoned four times for participating in nationalist movements.Taking a greater interest in education,he founded Subash High School at Kharkhande and primary schools in villages of Munger Bilbilan and Polangi.He also started a weekly called the Hindi Haryana and headed the Haryana Vidya Parcharani Sabha at Rohtak.He was a minister in the Punjab Government for a number of years.At the time of his death,he was the president of All India Freedom Fighter Organization.His another notable contribution included the role he played in development of Bakhra Nangal Power Project as the then Irrigation Minister of joint Punjab.His son,Ch.Bhupinder Singh Hooda,is the current Chief Minister of Haryana and his grandson Shri Deepender Hooda is the M.P.from Rohtak.Hooda, a member of the first Constituent Assembly that framed the Indian Constitution died aged 94, on February 1, 2009, after a long illness.

Sri Krishna Deva Raya(also known as Krishna Rai in some inscriptions)was the famed Emperor of the Vijayanagara Empire who reigned from 1509 - 1529 AD. Presiding over the empire at its zenith, he is regarded as an icon by many Indians. Emperor Krishna Deva Raya earned the titles Kannada Rajya Rama Ramana, Mooru Rayara Ganda (meaning King of three kings) and Andhra Bhoja.He was one of the greatest statesmen which medieval South India had produced. Much information about his reign comes from the accounts of Portuguese travelers Domingo Paes and Fernao Nuniz. Krishna Deva Raya benefited from the able prime minister Timmarusu, who was regarded by the king as a father figure and was responsible for his coronation. Krishna Deva Raya was the son of Nagala Devi and Tuluva Narasa Nayaka,an army commander under Saluva Narasimha Deva Raya,who later took control of the empire to prevent its disintegration and became the founder of the Tuluva Dynasty,the third Hindu Dynasty to rule Vijayanagara.The king's coronation took place on the birthday of Hindu God Krishna, and his earliest inscription is from July 26, 1509 AD. He built a beautiful suburb near Vijayanagara called Nagalapura in memory of his mother, Nagala.

Dr. Triguna Sen was born on 24 December 1905 at Solhet (now part of Bangladesh) he was an eminent educationist ardent freedom fighter able administrator and good parliamentarian. He was instrumental in establishing Jadavpur University at Kolkatta. He was elected President Alumni Association of National Council of Education Bengal, Jadavpur University. Bhai Jeevan Singh is one the Panth's jewels who is the image of humility and saintliness. Bhai Sahib's life has been devoted to the sevaa of the Panth and humanity. He has served as the Head Granthi at Takhat Sri Patna Sahib and has done keertan sevaa with the Akhand Kirtani Jatha for about 40 years. Since 1977 Bhai Sahib has toured different countries to spread Gurmat (the Guru's teachings) and has inspired countless to become the Sikhs of the Guru through his exemplary character and behaviour.

He was a strong Congress leader, freedom fighter, Cooperative leader, social activist and writer. He was popularly known as Leader of Common People.

Sirkazhi Govindarajan was born on January 19, 1933 in Sirkali in Madras Presidency.he was a leading vocalist in Carnatic Music.He started performing at the age of eight in Tirupurasundari Temple.He graduated from the Tamil Isai College in Chennai in 1949 and learnt music from Thiruppampuram Swaminatha Pillai.He was conferred the Padma Shri award by the Government of India.Govindarajan had also done playback singing in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films.Madras University conferred a doctorate (Honoris Causa) on him in 1983. He died in March 24,1988.
