On February 14, the body of intelligence officer Chetan Prakash was found on the roadside in Jhalawar. Investigations revealed he was murdered over his wife's alleged illicit relationship with a Rajasthan ACB constable. One of the accused, Shahrukh, was arrested, but the main suspect, Praveen Rathore, remains at large. The police have also arrested a hospital employee, Santosh Nirmal, who allegedly provided ketamine for Chetan's murder.

According to the investigation, the accused had injected an overdose of ketamine into Chetan's body after kidnapping him. Earlier, Chetan's father had filed an FIR against his daughter-in-law and four others for attempting to murder Chetan on January 5. He alleged that Chetan's wife, Praveen Rathore, Shaqir, Shahrukh, and Fareed staged a truck accident to harm him, but he survived. The police are still searching for Praveen and other suspects involved.

Friendship Turned Fatal: The Daksh Patel Murder Investigation

The incident took place in 2012 in Mahadevpura, Bangalore when people spotted a suspicious black car. They observed a man sitting in the back seat with his entire head enclosed in a plastic bag, his legs and hands wrapped in duct tape. Their attempts to open the car failed as it was locked from the inside. The police were called, and they arrived around 10:30 AM. The car's registration number revealed that the man was named Sreerag Subrahmanyam. Upon visiting the address listed in the registration details, it turned out to be Sreerag's aunt's house, and Sreerag lived in a room within the AECS layout.

The police found Sreerag's friend, Vivek Bhosle, at his flat. He assisted the police in locating the duplicate car key and opening the car. Meanwhile, the forensic team and sniffer dogs had arrived at the scene. The sniffer dog led its handler to Sreerag's flat, suggesting that Sreerag had come directly from his flat to the car's location. The police registered a case of murder due to all the evidence pointing towards a robbery gone wrong, where the victim was likely killed due to resistance. However, the police were not entirely convinced that it was a murder. They found duct tape, scissors, and the car key inside the car, and Sreerag was also discovered in the back seat.

When questioned, Vivek Bhosle revealed that Sreerag was infatuated with a girl he had met during a telemarketing call. He spoke to her on the phone for hours, and there were numerous text messages and emails exchanged between them. When asked what was strange about this, Vivek explained that Sreerag had never actually met the girl in person.

The police took Sreerag's laptop to his office and obtained permission to examine it for clues. They discovered that Sreerag had sent his last email on May 22, at two-thirty in the afternoon. This suggested that he had sent the email while sitting in the car. The email mentioned the girl's name as 'Jenny Kutty' and conveyed that Sreerag would no longer trouble her, and she would soon find out what had happened to him.

This raised suspicions that Sreerag might have committed suicide rather than being murdered. The forensic team also couldn't find fingerprints in the car other than Sreerag's. Sreerag's call records revealed that he had made hundreds of calls to a particular number, which was believed to be Jenny's. Jenny was then asked to come to the police station.

At the police station, Jenny's story was quite strange. She mentioned that she had known Sreerag for five months, and their acquaintance began through a telemarketing call. She worked at a call center and used the name "Jennifer Gayathri Lordeswamy" for telemarketing purposes. During this telemarketing interaction, Sreerag first called her on January 21 to sell an insurance product. They developed a strong friendship. Despite only being educated up to the 7th grade, Jenny was fluent in English and held a team lead position.

During their interactions, Sreerag and Jenny exchanged their personal numbers, email addresses, and more. Jenny added a bit of drama to her story by telling Sreerag that she was an MBA graduate. She also mentioned that she aspired to become a fashion designer, and she was working in a job to earn money to achieve her dreams.

Sreerag started liking her and gave Jenny the name "Jenny Kutti." When Sreerag sent his photo and asked for her photo, Jenny extracted a photo of a good-looking girl from her telemarketing database and sent it to him, claiming it was her photo. After seeing the photo of the beautiful girl and continuous closeness through calls and messages, Sreerag was eager to meet Jenny. Sreerag had bought a teddy bear for her, intending to give it to her himself. But Jenny started saying that she was already engaged, and thus, she couldn't meet him. After marriage, she would move to London. Sreerag insisted that she should break off her engagement. When Sreerag asked Jenny for a photo of her fiance, she again sent a photo of another guy. After this, Jenny told her friend to pretend to be her mother and ask Sreerag to stop calling her. After Jenny did this, Sreerag started contemplating ending his life.

Sreerag lived in Pakkad, Kerala. Both of his parents were ill, and his brother didn't know what to do. His brother told him that on the evening of May 21, after returning from the office, he had called his mother. He had asked about her well-being and whether she was taking her medicines on time. Ending the call, he had said that he loved her a lot and missed her. After this, he went to his aunt's house for dinner. Apart from dinner, he spent some time playing with his cousin's son. When leaving, he pretended that his pen had fallen and touched his aunt's feet. From there, he went back to his flat, picked up his laptop and a teddy bear, and left immediately. This was the same teddy bear he had bought for Jenny. When asked where he was going so late, he said he would drive around the nearby area for a while.

According to the police, he went to the location in Mahadevpura and stopped his car. He went to the back seat of the car, wrapped his legs with duct tape, layering it 16 times, and continued wrapping until he realized he wouldn't be able to free his legs. After that, he tied his hands with the tape and tried to cut the tape with a small knife. Even then, the strong tape didn't break, so he left it as it was. Afterward, he started taking Guardinal tablets and kept them in his mouth. One tablet fell on the seat itself. Guardinal's active ingredient is sodium lauryl sulfate, which creates foam. It is a type of poison that, when taken directly into the mouth, blocks the air passage to the lungs, making it difficult to breathe for the person. After this, he drank water from the bottle, layered the tape with 13 layers on his face, and covered his face with polythene to prevent him from breathing.

Friendship Turned Fatal: The Daksh Patel Murder Investigation

Daksh Hasmukh Patel, a resident of Vadodara, Gujarat, was a student of BCom at MS University. Daksh's body was found in the basement of a commercial complex on October 4th. The Sayajigunj police quickly initiated an investigation, leading to the successful arrest of the mastermind behind the incident, Parth Kothari.

During the primary investigation, it was discovered that Daksh had a friendship with a girl who was also a friend of Parth. Parth suspected that Daksh was getting too close to the girl, which made him jealous. He even confronted Daksh and asked him to stay away from the girl, but when this didn't happen, Parth resorted to murder out of jealousy.

The police claimed that Parth had purchased a rope and a knife to carry out the incident. On October 3rd, he made plans to meet Daksh on Monday. After playing Garba with his family, Parth met Daksh like a normal friend and suggested making an Instagram reel to make it appear as though Daksh had been kidnapped. Daksh had no reason to doubt Parth, as he had known him for several years.

Subsequently, Parth took Daksh to the dark basement of Alankar Complex and convinced him to participate in the fake kidnapping video, promising that it would bring them a lot of comments and likes. While restraining Daksh for the video, Parth began the attack with a knife.

As Daksh did not return home that night, his family became worried, and they filed a missing person report at the Sayajigunj police station. They also tried to contact Parth, who claimed that he had not met Daksh. However, when the police examined CCTV footage, it became clear that Daksh was with Parth on the evening of Monday.

Parth tried to mislead the police by carrying Daksh's phone with him and moving around the city. After carrying out the incident, he disposed of the weapon, a knife, in the Vishwamitri River and removed the SIM card from Daksh's phone. Parth and Daksh seemed to have a shared interest in the same girl, as revealed in their WhatsApp chats.

Parth's older brother, Kevin, finds it hard to believe that Parth could commit such a crime. He describes Parth as a shy and introverted individual who never mentioned any girl to him or showed any interest in romantic relationships. Kevin has never seen Parth with any girl or a photo of a girl. Parth did not have a history of posting Instagram reels, and his Instagram account had no such content. He also avoided taking photos at parties. When asked if Kevin had ever met Daksh, he mentioned that Parth often mentioned Daksh's name, but since Daksh had never visited their house, he had never met him. On the night of the incident, at Parth's request, Kevin had driven Daksh to Sayajigunj, where Daksh was supposed to meet Parth. It was late at night, so Kevin had told Daksh not to go anywhere, but Daksh insisted that he would return within an hour.

On October 7th, the Patel community organized a silent march for Daksh Patel, demanding the death penalty for his murderer, Parth Kothari. The community gathered at Navalkhī Ground, and from there, they marched to the District Collector's office to submit a memorandum demanding a thorough investigation of the incident.

Parth's father owns a grocery store, and according to the police, Parth had stolen some gold ornaments from a relative's house a few months ago. However, no police complaint had been filed regarding the theft.

Transport Agent Fakes His Own Murder To Frame Wife and In-Laws

Sohan Lal, a small-time transport agent from Hodal in Haryana, recently confessed to faking his own murder and framing his wife and in-laws. He suspected that his wife was having an affair with a distant cousin and plotted his revenge by getting into an illicit relationship with his minor sister-in-law, eloping with her, and murdering an innocent man. He planted his ID on the body, passed it off as his own, and got his wife and her family arrested on charges of murder.

Lal drove around Delhi, Faridabad, Hodal, and Palwal for 10 days to identify the "perfect victim" who had a similar age, build, and height as him. He found a drunk young man lying under the Bata Chowk Flyover at Faridabad and killed him. He then threw the body into the Palwal canal after disfiguring it. His sister-in-law knew about his plans and eloped with him after the murder.

The police have now registered a case of murder against Lal, and all other accused, including co-accused Chandan, are absconding. Lal's wife and her family were arrested on charges of murder based on circumstantial evidence and are in jail. Lal's minor sister-in-law is also with the police. The Haryana police is conducting raids to nab the accused who are on the run.

Arrest Made in Murder and Robbery of Diamond Delivery Boy in Mumbai

The police in Mumbai have arrested Naresh Golani, a 32-year-old diamond broker, for the murder and robbery of his friend and neighbor, Hardik Moradia, who worked as a diamond delivery boy for businessman Parth Mehta. Moradia's body was found near Panchgani in Maharashtra, with diamonds worth Rs 1.25 crore missing.

The police have revealed that Golani, along with three other accomplices, lured Moradia into selling the diamonds he was supposed to deliver to a client on November 17. Instead of going to Kurla, the group drove Moradia to Panchgani, where they stabbed him multiple times and fled with the diamonds. The police were able to solve the case by going through Moradia's phone records and examining CCTV footage taken near Panchratna building, where Golani and Moradia both lived.

While the police have been able to recover the car in which Moradia was taken, they have not yet managed to trace Golani's Wagon R and the missing diamonds. Another accused, Dharmesh Patel, has been identified and a special police team has been sent to nab him. The other two accused are yet unidentified and at large.

Deception and Murder: Alwar Man's Desperate Measures to Hide His Crime

A 30-year-old income tax inspector from Alwar, Rajasthan, killed his wife and buried her body inside their house in Vadodara, Gujarat. The man, Lokesh Choudhary, filed a missing complaint with the Jaipur police to divert suspicion away from himself. However, the police in Jaipur uncovered his deception and confronted him. Choudhary eventually confessed to the murder of his wife, Munesh, citing an illicit relationship as the motive.

Choudhary had arranged for Munesh to come to Vadodara from Jaipur, where he was posted as an income tax inspector. On April 11, he, along with the help of a friend, killed Munesh by strangling her. They buried the body in a pre-dug trench in their house. The police have sent a team to Vadodara to recover the body.

It was revealed that Choudhary had developed a relationship with another girl from Alwar and was urged by her to divorce Munesh. However, he did not want to divorce her due to family and legal reasons, leading him to plan and carry out the murder.

The victim's father alleged that Choudhary and his family had harassed Munesh for dowry and withdrawn money from her bank account. A case has been filed against Choudhary under sections 364 (kidnapping) and 302 (murder).

A fast track court in Sewree, Mumbai, Maharashtra, convicted a 40-year-old man, Diwan Singh, for abetting the suicide of his 11-year-old son, Jai, whom he frequently beat. Sessions Judge N G Gimekar sentenced Singh to five years of rigorous imprisonment. Singh, who worked with an LPG cylinder agency, was arrested on July 12, 2011, after his son consumed a bottle of pesticide and died.

According to the prosecution, the child was depressed and regularly beaten by his father. On the day of the incident, Singh had beaten Jai for regularly bunking school. Twice in the past, Jai had bunked school, and Singh, fearing that his son was abducted, had filed a complaint with the police. When Singh returned home for lunch, he saw his son playing, lost his cool and hit him so severely that neighbours had to intervene. Despite this, Singh continued to beat his son, causing him to suffer 20 injuries, according to medical reports.

Neighbours testified against Singh, narrating several instances when he had beaten his child. One witness also hinted at the possibility of the child being depressed. While the police had booked Singh under the charge of abetment of suicide, the defence maintained that Singh was only guilty of beating his son and not pushing him to commit suicide. However, the court found Singh guilty of abetting the suicide of his son. The incident has shocked the local community, and the court's decision sends a strong message against child abuse and domestic violence.

Residents from Dilson’s neighborhood, along with his family and supporters, gathered in large numbers, expressing grief and demanding justice. The case highlighted the vulnerability of children living in challenging environments and the urgent need for protective measures for underprivileged communities.

Dilson, the youngest of four siblings, was a bright and hardworking child who had taken up odd jobs to support his ailing father, a carpenter. Despite dropping out of school after fifth grade due to financial constraints, he continued to contribute to his family’s well-being. His life was a testament to the struggles faced by children in similar circumstances, who often must balance responsibilities far beyond their years.

Eventually, retired Lieutenant Colonel Kandasamy Ramraj was arrested for his involvement in the case. He admitted to using his personal firearm during the incident and was later sentenced to life imprisonment in 2012.

Jolly Amma Joseph, the widow of late Roy Thomas, was arrested by the police in connection with the deaths of six of her relatives who died under similar circumstances in Kozhikode. Jolly allegedly used cyanide-laced food or drinks to kill her kin.

Kerala police exhumed five bodies and conducted postmortem as part of the investigation, which was launched after a confidential complaint by one of her relatives. Jolly's mother-in-law Annamma Thomas died in 2002 after consuming mutton soup prepared by Jolly, allegedly mixed with cyanide. Jolly was present at the scene of all six alleged murders, and there was a similarity in the pattern of the deaths. The police suspect that financial motives prompted Jolly to commit the murders. However, Superintendent of Police KG Simon says there could be other factors which made her commit the crimes. Jolly had convinced her family members that she was a B.Tech graduate and lecturer at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Kozhikode. She allegedly used a fake photo ID card of the institute. The police have arrested two more persons in connection with the case so far, and the investigation is still on.

She, Vijubha, and their friends had kidnapped a mentally challenged woman, murdered her, and disguised her in Bhikhiben's clothes before setting her on fire to conceal her identity.

The police have apprehended Bhikhiben, Vijubha, and several others involved in the case. The bizarre story has captivated the local community and left the authorities with a complex investigation on their hands.

Ram Dayal, a 25-year-old murder accused under trial, was admitted to MY Hospital in Indore for treatment for a brain tumour. However, early one Monday morning, a masked assassin dressed as a doctor shot him at point-blank range on the head, killing him instantly. The killer managed to flee the scene, and the incident was only reported two hours later, despite a police outpost being present in the hospital premises. The police are investigating the case and are scanning CCTV grabs from the hospital and talking to other patients admitted to the same ward.

The hospital killing has exposed the state of security at the biggest government hospital in Madhya Pradesh. A 32-year-old history-sheeter named Chintu Thakur, who had a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head for hiring a shooter to kill an undertrial prisoner in the same hospital, recently surrendered before the police. Chintu had allegedly hatched the conspiracy to eliminate Jitendra alias 'JD' to avenge the killing of his brother Pintu in 2013. The murder of Ankit Saxena, a Hindu boy, for being in a relationship with a Muslim girl gained widespread attention. The alleged murderers were the girl's relatives, including her parents. In September, a Muslim woman was killed by her father and brother for being in a relationship with a Hindu man in West Bengal. In June last year, a pregnant Muslim woman was burnt alive by her family in Karnataka for marrying a Hindu man, while a Hindu man and his Muslim wife were killed in broad daylight by the woman's brother in Uttar Pradesh in November 2014.

Such incidents highlight the deep-rooted biases and prejudices that exist in our society. Love knows no religion, and it is time we break free from these regressive mindsets that divide us. It is the responsibility of the law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of all citizens, irrespective of their religion or caste.

Although the police were able to recover the stolen money, four of their associates and an auto-rickshaw driver are still at large. The police have urged the public to be aware and to report any such incidents to the West division control room or the DCP (West).
