Ashurkhanas are community spaces where Shia Muslims gather for mourning during Muharram. Ashurkhanas derive their name from ashura, the 10th day of Muharram, which is also the corner of mourning that marks Muharram, a commemoration of the martyrdom of Hussain Ibn Ali, grandson of prophet Mohammed, in the Battle of Karbala 14 centuries ago.
Chhath, a festival popular among Hindus celebrated for four days by worshiping the rising and setting sun. Men and women who are set to perform the Chhath fast worship the Sun God and take a ritual bath in a nearby river, pond or sea. Chhath Sandhya Argh is performed along the banks of Ganga River and Koshi in Bihar. Chhath puja is on November 19 (evening) and November 20 (morning).

Chhath Puja is an ancient Hindu festival dedicated to the Hindu Sun God, Surya. It is also known as Dala Chhath or Surya Shashti. On this day, Lord Surya (Sun God) is thanked for supporting life on earth and to request the granting of wishes. The rituals of the festival are observed for four days.

They include holy bathing, fasting and abstaining from drinking water (Vratta), standing in water for long time, and offering prayer to the setting and rising sun.

Karva Chauth :Wife see moon through sieve then husband for the long life and wellbeing of their husband.Karva Chauth is celebrated on the fourth day after the night of the full moon in the month of Karthik, on this auspicious day of KarvaChauth wives observe a 24-hour long fast for the long life and wellbeing of their husbands. Wives start fasting at night, post the moon comes out, in the presence of their husbands. This fast continues until the moon come out again, when the women dress up in their wedding outfit and await for the moon to pop on the beautiful dark sky, which tells that their fast can now be broken. Karwa or a clay pot is usually filled with eateries and jewellery and offered to the moon by way of worship — hence the title KarwaChauth. Once the moon-worshipping is done, the wives look at the moon through a sieve and then quickly turn to look at their husbands. After seeing his man, women receive their first bite of food from him.
