Indiana Design Center proudly played host to the San Francisco 49ers Super Car from February 2^nd through the 5^th in the Grand Hall, drawing crowds from all around the country. We’d like to give a special thanks to the NFL and Superbowl Host Committee for everything they have done for our city, and for allowing us to be a part of it all! It was exciting to see Indianapolis and the surrounding areas come to life as it celebrated one of the greatest weeks in sports, and we enjoyed meeting each and every visitor who came through our doors.

Thanks to Royal Gallery of Rugs for allowing us to keep it chic & unique by featuring the car on an Oriental rug.

Load-in and load-out requires all hands on deck as the car is brought through the doors.

“These chairs are beautiful from every angle!  They are teak and retain their original webbing.  The Niels Moller chairs were also imported from Denmark. This chair is offered as a rare part of a set of 8, with 2 arm chairs.  Niels Moller was known for hiding away the chairs he designed for a year and then bringing them back out the next year and tweaking them again.  He would do this for 5 years before he released a new design. These were truly designed for comfort and look.” -Israel Jones

The Swanky Abode is a pop-up shop that originates from Columbus, Ohio, and its stay in the Indiana Design Center is for a limited time only. Its product line features a blend of both vintage and modern and it offers a lot of personality and variety. “We are proud to announce local artist Walter Knabe as the artist of the Host Committee’s
commemorative poster,” said Allison Melangton, President and Chief Executive Officer of the
2012 Super Bowl Host Committee. “The poster highlights our impressive local talent and honors
the commitment and excitement of the city as a host.”

True to Knabe’s dynamic artistic style, the poster includes Lady Victory from the Soldiers and Sailors Monument alongside Lucas Oil Stadium, the Host Committee logo and an official NFL football.  Knabe is no stranger to creating commemorative pieces.  In 2010, he was the first Indiana artist selected as the Official “500 Artist” for the Indianapolis 500 which included several manifestations of his 2010 painting that is now part of the IMS’ permanent art collection.

About The Julian Center:
The Julian Center is a unique nonprofit agency providing counseling, safe shelter, case management, advocacy, and education for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other life crises.  Through outreach and consultation, it seeks to educate the community about the issue of domestic violence and sexual assault and its impact on all our lives.

We stopped by Barry’s new studio to ask him a few questions and for some seasonal advice:

1. Is there one thing you start with on every design project?

I start with the client first. It is important to know the person you are working with and discover what they need and desire. After that is established, comes the color scheme.  

2. What inspires you as you approach your canvas artwork projects? 

Color inspires me the most and the illusion one can create with it.  

3. What brought you to Indiana Design Center?

I had been used to working in the center with several of the showrooms. The energy I felt in the building drew me in. I enjoy being around other creative people and the atmosphere the building offers.

4.  With the holidays around the corner, what advice can you offer someone who aspires to host an elegant holiday party with a unique twist?

Of course a theme for any kind of a party makes it an event.  How about a “flash mob” party or a “holiday bling” party?  I once did a red and green pajama party for Christmas time.  It was loads of fun.

Santarossa celebrated its Indiana Design Center showroom Grand Opening in November 2012.
