I wanted to profile this party not because i was paid by them to do so or i have an affinity with there ideology but for the unimaginable task they have achieved- defeating a 34 year old ruling CPI party in West Bengal. For some you it might see as just another political battle but if you have a Bengali friend then just ask them what does it mean.

This post is for the heck of it, we already know her and her antics. For the records she is the only Indian women to trend on Twitter ever. By profession she is a model and is known for her amazing "talent" in the coveted Kingfisher swimsuit calender. But she is not popular for that, she came into limelight because of her statement that she will bare it all if India wins the world cup. Yes! you read it right she will bare it all in full public glare for the cricket fans. She is the only Most downloaded model on the Internet as well.

Poonam follows the likes of lingerie models like Larissa Riquelme of Paraguay and Luciana Salazar of Argentina who had vowed to go nude if their football teams win the FIFA world cup. On twitter she barely had 5000 followers before her bold statement and now it doubled to 10520 and growing. She has vowed again and again that she will do it. And as it was evident Shiv Sena has threatened to protest if she does and some gentleman have filled a case from Bhopal and BCCI is having sleepless night over it.

I still remember each and every frame of O Sanam, the first song of Lucky Ali that toped the charts when i was in school. Since then i have never missed even a single album this maverick has produced. I was lucky to meet him personally in one of his live concert (i was interviewd by Aaj Tak for this :) ).

Some facts: Very few people know that his full name is Maqsood Mehmood Ali the son of the legendary actor Mehmood. Born to a bong/punjabi mother who was the sister of the yet another legendary actor Meena Kumari.

His first wife is Meaghan Jane McCleary also known as Maymunah who accepted Islam after marrying Lucky Ali. She has acted in the video O Sanam from his first album Sunoh. Lucky Ali has two children from his first wife - Ta'awwuz and Tasmia. His second wife, Inaya (maiden name Anahita). Originally a Parsi, she also accepted Islam after marriage. Lucky Ali has two children from his second wife, Sara and Raiyan.

Lucky and his father Mahmood shared a tempestuous relationship. Mehmood was a very busy actor in 1960s and 70s, and remained away from home for his shoots. Once, around the age of five when Lucky's mother came with him to receive Mehmood at the airport, Lucky didn't recognize his father and on seeing him said, "He's the film comedian Mehmood!" Lucky lived away from his family in a boarding school up in the foothills of the Himalayas in Mussoorie. Lucky's tryst with marijuana led Mehmood to write the script of the movie Dushman Duniya Ka (Enemy of the World).

The movie stars Ali's youngest brother,Manzoor. It is the story of the drug abuse of a young man called Lucky. In the end the young man kills his mother, destroys everything around him and is then killed by his father. Lucky differed with his father's vision and did not act in the movie. "I felt the story lacked hope," he said.However he sang his first song for a movie for the film.

Lucky's wanderlust has taken him many places. He has bred horses, been an oil rigger off the coast of Pondicherry in South India, is a farmer with a strong opinion on organic methods in farming. Music, singing and acting are his serious hobbies.

How can i miss him? My bad My bad..Anyways, now that i have realized my mistake (thanks to one of our reader who pointed me out), he will be here with a fanfare. FAN & FARE!!!

Well he is one of our favorite character artist, infect one of the best we have in the industry right now. He always wanted to be an actor but it is not what he started doing initially. He worked as a waiter and service staff in Taj Mahal hotel. Thereafter, he joined his mother to run their ancestral bakery shop between Novelty and Apsara Cinema in South Mumbai.

At the same time he also established an Uncle Chips franchise in Dadar which ran until 1986 before shutting down owing to a loss.Irani turned to photography in 1987 and continued until 1989. He is a professional photographer.

As an actor he was mentored by Alyque Padmsee, initially he did lot of commercials and other odd appearances before finally establishing himself as a "manjhawa kalakar" through Munnabhai..After that there was no turning back..Personally one of my favorite movie is Khosla ka ghosla and especially the dialoge "Tu ja dekh pepsi ka kya hua..." :)

1) He is a perfect case of mustache being younger then the hair on your head. Look at the picture he just smiled at you in acceptance.
2) He finished his MBA from Harvard, a year before i was born. ( This is my blog and you will not be reading this if i was not born, hence the importance of the event).
3) He actually wanted to make beautiful houses initially and studied architecture and film for the same reason before heading for Harvard. (He in fact made a movie in his college days.. :) )

Ankit Jaiswal is my ex colleague and but this not the reason that he is here. He is an amazing singer, thinker, poet, foodie and absolute gem when it comes to rationally brainstorming on some idea. Though he is a technical writer by profession and writes mostly in angrezi but he also has amazing command in urdu. We have written together couple of poems, which we interestingly termed it as co-operative poetry. :)
Coax him, persuade him, promise him a good meal and he turns into an awesome singer i like the depth of his voice, especially when he sings old hindi songs. Son of renowned Sangeetacharya Amiya Ranjan Bandyopadhyay and grandson of Sangeetacharya Satyakinkar Bandyopadhyay of the Bishnupore Gharana, Santanu was a noted prodigy Born into a family of glorious musical tradition, music was something that came naturally to Santanu. As a child he spent hours at riaz (practise) to attain standards that the stalwarts in his family had set. Today, Santanu Bandyopadhyay, the hindustani classical vocalist directly represent the sixth generation of Bishnupore Gharana. The only sangeet Gharana of Bengal.

At the young age Santanu received careful training in Hindusthani classical music from his late grandfather and father.dedicated to music,Santanu consciously balanced his life and academics.He graduated from Calcutta University with Physics Honours in 1980.Earned a first class first in Vocal Music (Khayal) from Rabindra Bharaty University. Stood first in Khayal and received a gold medal from Rabindra Bharaty University.To continue the honours Santanu stood first in All India Radio Khayal Competition in 1983.All India Radio recognized his brilliance presenting him a golden replica of a tanpura.In the same year, he received a gold medal from' Pune Bharat Gayan Samaj' for his stunning performance. Santanu also performed in the national programme in All India Radio.Presently Santanu is an attending musical lecturer with Rabindra Bharaty University.He is also a regular artist with All India Radio and Doordarshan since 1982.

When you can not portray all the hues of a personality you surrender yourself to words which can not show the real color. I mean its hard to write about how does a rainbow look like. One such guy is the dude in focus "Pritish Nandy"- poet, journalist, politician, television personality, film producer, entrepreneur etc. ( and we need quite a lot of etc in this one).

I admire him for his body of translation on Bhartrhari and the amazing movie "Hazzaro Khawishe Aise" that he produced. One more thing i admire him for is his bald look, that gives me lot of strength as i will also be apart of the league very soon. :)

Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia is Akshay Kumars real name, some of you might share birthday with him that is on September 9, 1967 (really you do!..ok smile smile..ye ye cool..enough now go brush your teeth!). Stop grinning we are doing some serious stuff here! Lets get back to the job.

I think Indian film industry didn't produced any serious competition for Shammi Kapoor (Yeah that Yahoo! guy), till Akshay Kumar came in. As its absoultely impossible for any normal actor to jump from one corner of the screen to another corner (Imagine if its cinema screen..gee!), now that's quite a feat. But this Bhatia guy went one step further, he not only jumped out of the screen, he tore it down, flew out of it, jumped from high rise, swim with sharks, break tubelights and what not. He sometime was also refereed as the "stuntman who is a star".

But this man is my inspiration,i mean a martial student turned chef turned martial art instructor turned model turned actor. Now that's quite a lot of turning! And all the turn and twist he did in Khiladi changed his life forever! That was his first major hit and as they rest in history. No she is not trying to scare anybody in this snap but she is famous for doing scary things. She is Barkha Dutt, one of the most celebrated journalist of our times. She is most remembered for her courageous act of covering Kargil war. She has won numerous awards for her excellence in journalism including the prestigious Padma Shri ( Why they don't name this award "Padma Shreemati" or "Padma Miss" when its a female who is receiving it...:)) ) . Forget it lets know a bit more about her.

Barkha Dutt was born in New Delhi. She studied at Modern School, New Delhi, graduated from St. Stephen's College, Delhi with a degree in English literature. She received a Master's in Mass Communications from Jamia Millia Islamia and a Master's in Journalism from Columbia University, New York. She was one of the winners of the prestigious Inlaks Scholarship, which sends 6 Indians overseas to study every year.

Purab Kohli is an Indian model, VJ and Actor. He started his career as a model and earned recognition through video jockeying on Channel V. Purab initially wanted to be a Pilot, but he got a chance in acting with the teenage show Hip Hip Hurray on Zee TV and then shows like 'Chota Moo Badi Baat' and 'Sangharsh' for B4U followed. Don't get mistaken with his cute looks, he is dangerous, he is a magician and can turn you into a bakra without you knowing it.
Anyways he is Cyrus Broacha, named after the First Persian emperor Cyrus The Great (Shāhanshāh). And true to his name he is literally the Shāhanshāh of stand-up comedy acts in India.

He was educated at Cathedral and John Connon School, Mumbai and graduated from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai.He started acting at the age of 5, with a school play The Emperor's New Clothes. The play was a hit. Every year he performed and wrote for the school magazine, winning prizes for English and Drama. Since then he has worked as a theater artist, radio jockey, actor, and TV anchor.Currently he anchors a news satire and comedy show, The Week That Wasn't on CNN-IBN, co-written and directed by friend Kunal Vijayakar. The show has been running for over a year.

He is famous because he has this innate ability to eat peoples brain and know how to make celebs uncomfortable in his talk shows (I loved the K JO interview man! It was awesome...)
