Clarification On Rumors Regarding Delay in IBPS PO III Result

Dear readers, some websites are spreading rumors that IBPS PO III result will be delayed due to some pending case in Jharkhand High Court. This is to inform you that these are just rumors and these website are spreading this kind of news just to bring traffic to their website.

There is a case pending in Jharkhand High Court (Filing Number - 012010011992014 Case type -WRIT PETITIONS/0000220/2014), which was filed on 15-January-2014, but Bank of India is the respondent in this case and Not IBPS. This case pertains to rejection of OBC Candidates (carrying invalid OBC certificates) at interview stage. In all probability, it is going to be dismissed in the initial hearing only.

As per our sources in IBPS, it is not going to impact the results of IBPS PO III recruitment process as the case is not directed towards IBPS. So, we request not to spread such rumors further.

In any case, we will keep you updated on any further development on this.

This is exact opposite of Repo rate. Reverse Repo rate is the rate at which Reserve Bank of India (RBI) borrows money from banks. An increase in Reverse repo rate can cause the banks to transfer more funds to RBI due to this attractive interest rates.

10 What is CRR Rate?
Cash reserve Ratio (CRR) is the amount of funds that the banks have to keep with RBI. If RBI decides to increase the percent of this, the available amount with the banks comes down. RBI is using this method (increase of CRR rate), to drain out the excessive money from the banks.

SLR (Statutory Liquidity Ratio) is the amount a commercial bank needs to maintain in the form of cash, or gold or govt. approved securities (Bonds) before providing credit to its customers. SLR rate is determined and maintained by the RBI (Reserve Bank of India) in order to control the expansion of bank credit. SLR is determined as the percentage of total demand and percentage of time liabilities. Time Liabilities are the liabilities a commercial bank liable to pay to the customers on their anytime demand. 12. What is Bank Rate?

13. What is Inflation?

35 What is a NBFC?

“After a Storm Comes a Calm” – said Mathew Henry. But this may not be true with aspirants who have given their attempt to any of the competitive examinations. For them, it’s quite different, I would quote it as, “Storm before and after the calm (exam).” The reason why I refer so is that many aspirants before giving their exams storm in several sites and Facebook group asking for question papers, notes etc., and once the exam is completed they storm predicting the cut off and once the results are released they storm discussing the possibility of getting the job and this is what has happened after IBPS has released the marks and cut off for the post of PO for the year 2013-14.

What am I going to tell new about IBPS PO 3?

The first and foremost is that, at the end of this article the aspirants will be confident that almost all have chance to clear the interview and get allotted in various banks irrespective of the marks they scored.
How date of birth may play a vital role in determining your posts?
Why there is no use in discussing/predicting cut off online?

If you wish to know answers for the above mentioned, I advise you to read further. The below claims made my are based on data collected from IBPS and other authentic sources (related to past experience).

Cut off in IBPS PO 3 and chances in Interview

IBPS has released its mark statement and cut off on 07.12.2013. Once the marks are released, almost all blogs and Facebook groups started flooding with a common question. And the questions are,

“Sir, I have scored 64 in UR, what is the chance that I will clear?”
“I have scored just 62 in OBC, I think I have less chance. What’s your opinion?”
“Unbelievable, I have scored 99 in UR. What is my chance?” – (To these people I would say there is no chance as they either make to fun of others or they are bookworms.)

The one word answer to all these questions is that, everyone who got their call to interview have chance to get allotment. The one with more marks have bright chance and one with less marks need to perform well in interview. But how do I say? Am I preaching confident development? Of course I am, but not just with assumptions but with real data.

I am going to compare the data’s of IBPS PO 2 and IBPS PO 3, for coming into a conclusion. I am going to compare last year cut off, final marks for allotment in both phases and student to vacancy ratio.

What will be the ratio of candidates called for interview?

It should be 1:3. It means 3 candidates for 1 post. This is because in IBPS PO 2, there were around 21000 vacancies approximately and 60 thousand candidates have cleared the examination (last year common interview was decided after declaration of result, so we are not sure how many among the 60k missed their ticket to interview, but for data classification we will assume all the 60k candidates were called.) Similarly this year around, 57000 candidates have cleared (approximate value said by IBPS personnel when contacted via toll free number - @courtesy – Ramandeep Singh- bankexamtoday). If you wish, you can cross verify in this toll free number 1800 222 366 between 9.30 AM and 6.00 PM and the vacancies are expected to be same as we have additional institutions recruiting this year compared to last year (apart from Mahila Bank, which recruited 105 women candidates at the year end).So we can confirm that the ratio is 1:3 this year too. Many claim that due to incomplete filling in IBPS PO1, we had many vacancies in PO2. It is true to some extent, but the same difference will be balanced with the new organisations, unfilled vacanices after round 2 of allotment and also the branches have increased for all banks so the demand for more PO is always there. However this ratio may change later once the attendance of interview and pass percentage in interview is known. At the final stage it almost comes to 1:2.

Marks of PO 1 is not considered as it didn't have common interview, also there is no use in comparing the cut off of IBPS-2 and IBPS-3 as the number of candidates attended and the difficulty level were comparatively higher. The above table is just to give a glimpse of the lowest marks of each category with which candidates went for interview in 2012 and to compare that with this year marks. The above mentioned marks is out of 250 in PO2 and 200 in PO 3, which is later converted to 80 while calculating the component from written examination.

This above table gives an idea of the final marks after the interview for which allotment is made in first round. 80% of written marks is carried forward to the interview and 20% of the interview marks is calculated to arrive to the final marks. So how much should least scorer in each category has to score in interview to enter into final merit list? Probably the below table will answer it.

Explanation of above table

Min Marks - it is the least marks of IBPS P0 -2 for various category.
Final Marks - it is mark scored by the last selected candidate in various category, after calculating the 80% component of written and 20% component of interview which is conducted for 100 marks.
80% of CWE - It is the 80% component carried forward by the least mark candidate to next stage.
Required 20% - It is the 20% marks required for a candidate to get into the list of merit.
Marks required - It is the marks required by the candidate who went to the interview with the least mark to get qualified in the phase 1 of allotment.

Interpretation of above data

Marks required by UR in interview is 94.6, which is quite high. The reason for the same is many candidates in reservation who scored good marks enter into this zone. In other words toppers are in this zone irrespective of reservation which keeps the cut off high. This is the same reason why the required marks in reservation is considerably low.
This year it is expected from the marks revealed by candidates in various forums, most of the candidates are expected to be in the bracket of 65 to 80.
The marks revealed online by various candidates cannot be considered for coming to a conclusion in deciding the safe zone, as many give a fake claim and even if they are true they form a less portion. Hardly 200 to 300 give their scores and you cannot predict the same for 57000 candidates. One good example is that many forums predicted above 80 cut off and now it is 61. However the graph is almost similar to last year and the safe marks in interview will work out this year too.

The above mentioned data is for the first allotment, after many candidates failed to join another round of allotment was made and the below table gives the minimum final marks for which candidates are called. This marks can also be said as the marks scored by the last selected candidate who got allotted in IBPS PO-2 .

So what does the above table indicate, it is very clear that everyone who got selected for interview has chance to get allotted to some bank irrespective of marks. The above mentioned marks is the minimum required in interview for a candidate who went with the least mark in various categories.

Why second allotment in IBPS PO-2?
Many candidates who selected in first allotment did't turn back to join the allotted bank due to multiple reasons and to fill this shortage waiting list candidates were called for next round of allotment.

How many vacancies were there is second allotment?
I am sure you will be in surprise, if you never heard before. Totally 5806( UR-3080; OBS - 1431; SC-794; ST-501; VI-111;HI-166; OC-70) candidates didn't join the allotted bank in round 1. It is almost 27% of the total vacancies. It is also sure that all these 5806 were not filled as many refused in this stage too. The left over seats were carried forward to this year allotment.

Why candidates refuse to join?
Allotment is made on all India basis, many candidates prefer home state, so when they are allotted in other states they refuse to join. Some candidates (particularly women candidates) have requested for allotment in home state showing genuine reason for not able to join in other state. They were allotted in home state in second round. One of my friend who was 9 months pregnant during allotment was allotted in Dena bank (Mumabi branch) in allotment 1, she gave a request showing the same, to offer her allotment in Chennai. She was allotted in Syndicate bank, Chennai in the second allotment and above that she was asked to undergo initial one month training in Chennai itself where others had their training in Manipal. Some claim it is because of some political backup, but I know her personally and it was a genuine request. Apart from this many candidates who already employed also refuse, but this percentage will be less compared to the above.

Date of Birth and final allotment
Compared to last year the gap in score between many candidates is very narrow as many stand in the zone of 65 to 80. I assume that in the final stage many may stand with the same marks. In this case banks have a soft corner towards seniors and the list when score is same will be decided on the basis of age. The same was done last year too.

Why there is no use in discussing cut off and other predictions online?
Many sites give claim based on their assumptions. In fact most of the times it didn't work out. During SBI PO, almost all sites predicted cut off around 110 for UR, but it was above 160. The same happened with SSC CGL and also now with IBPS PO 3. So do not waste your time in discussing all these useless things online as they are of no use.

Just think about it : What if a candidate has less score, but has incredible skills which he expresses during interview? I am sure he will be brought into the merit list by awarding marks accordingly. This has happened with many candidates. But may be they may not get the bank and state of their choice. So keep this and above data in mind. Ensure yourself that you still have a good chance. Start preparing for interview. I wish everyone of you to move ahead in life getting the bank of your wish.

Income Tax Inspector (ITI):
An ITI generally can be posted at either of the two types of seats which are transferable on cyclic basis. Work related to assessment of tax or non-assessment of tax. When on an assessment seat he is supposed to see the work related to assessment of income tax to be imposed on an individual, partnership firm, company etc; and refund of it in case someone has deposited in excess. He also has to see the work related to TAX DEDUCTION AT SOURCE (TDS) besides being accompanying a raid team. An ITI on non-assessment seat generally has to do do clerical work though he too could be asked to accompany a raid team.
His promotions in the order are ITO, Assistant Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and so on. He is posted in the pay band 9,300-34,800 with grade pay of RS 4,600. He is entitled for 30 liter of petrol if posted on assessment seat. To be eligible for promotion to the post of ITO (Group-B Gazetted) he has to pass the departmental exam; but this exam is just for ELIGIBILITY; promotion is on the basis of SENIORITY only which differs from zone to zone. After promotion to the post of Assistant Commissioner the transfer becomes ALL INDIA LIABILITY. Preventive Officer (PO):
Again this is an inspector post also; and posted in the pay band 9,300-34,800 with grade pay of RS 4,600.If posted in Headquarter----Clerical/File workIf posted in the field (like an airport/coast etc)----Executive work e.g. prevention of smuggling, assessment of customs duty on goods, can arrest, seize , search, detain etc. on any kind of doubt of smuggling, and etc. Duty is round the clock (You have to work in day/night shift).
Uniform (Ashoka Stambha with 2 yellow strips) is a must.
His promotions in the order are Superintendent (Group-B Gazetted), Assistant Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and so on. There is a qualifying period of 8 years for the promotion to the post of Superintendent; means he cant be promoted to that post before completion of eight years of service as PO. Uniform (khaki) is there but generally optional to wear.
His promotions in the order are Superintendent (Group-B Gazetted), Assistant Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and so on. There is a qualifying period of 8 years for the promotion to the post of Superintendent; means he cant be promoted to that post before completion of eight years of service as Excise Inspector. Assistant Enforcement Officer (AEO)
This is an inspector post also; and posted in the pay band 9,300-34,800 with grade pay of RS 4,600.If posted in Headquarter----Clerical/File workIf posted in the field----Executive work e.g. prevention of money laundering, to conduct searches of suspected persons, conveyances and premises and seize incriminating materials (including Indian and foreign currencies involved), to arrest and prosecute the person suspected to be involved in the act of money laundering, etc.
His promotions in the order are Enforcement Officer (Group-B Gazetted), Assistant Director, Deputy Director and so on.
There are ten Zonal Offices of the Directorate at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai. The Zonal Offices are headed by the Deputy Directors.
The Directorate has eleven Sub Zonal Offices at Bhubaneswar, Calicut, Guwahati, Indore, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Madurai, Nagpur, Patna, Srinagar and Varanasi, which are headed by the Assistant Directors.

Inspector of Posts (IP)
This is a post in the pay band 9,300-34,800 with grade pay of RS 4,600Inspector of posts is there with every postal division. There must be 2 or more divisions in each district. This is the worst post SSC is offering. Presently IP must go to canvass people for getting Postal Life Insurance and also they have to aquire a huge sum for the department. Presently The Department of Posts has given instructions to all circles to enhance their growth by 20 percent. All such burden comes on IPs.

SI in CBI
This is a post in the pay band 9,300-34,800 with grade pay of RS 4,200; but it's almost equal to the total salary for the grade pay of Rs 4,600 as CBI executive staff is entitled to additional 25% on BASIC PAY + DA and in addition to that salary of 13 months instead of 12 months each year. Forget about any extra income as CBI keeps a strict watch on its people.
This is supposed to be a very powerful and influential post due to very nature of work. Any IT Inspector/ Examiner or for that matter any other central govt servant will vouch for the fact that CBI is a much feared organisation. I can't say about higher bureaucracy like IAS etc, but for middle and lower level officers, once they come under the scanner, it is very difficult to get away.
Life in CBI is stressful due to heavy workload and deadlines there. Training duration is 32 weeks involving physical training and training on criminal and anti-corruption laws. During the training the daily physical activity includes 2 km run, PT, Drill in the morning and Games/Unarmed Combat Course in the evening.
Friends, as it's generally thought it is not a 24 x 7 job; but sometimes the work streches beyond the usual working hours i.e. sometimes one has to work till 8 or 9 pm. Usually on Saturdays, if the workload is more, the work goes on as usual; though Sundays are spared. Also in some branches like Special Crime etc, the job involves a fair bit of travelling especially in the starting years. The nature and hours of work also differs from branch to branch and place to place. Some branches have less workload and so the personnel can take it easy. No uniform required.
Sub Inspectors in CBI or for that matter any rank in CBI does not possess revolver/pistol. In a very few cases, when a search is to be carried out in some dangenrous places, weapons are issued to the staff. The officers of CBI themselves are not interested in carrying weapon.

Assistant CSS
This is a post in the pay band 9,300-34,800 with grade pay of RS 4,600.As this is now the lowest post in CSS one is supposed to do every work that a clerk does; like typing, noting, drafting and all file work. Without typing you cant do. I have learnt that SO, Under Secretary and even Deputy Secretary has to do the same kind of work except some minor change.
An Assistant in CSS can be promoted to the next post i.e. SO (Group-B Gazetted) in two ways.............one by taking departmental exam and passing it and secondly without. One becomes eligible for the departmental exam after completion of 5 years of service.......means he could become an SO after 6 years. Otherwise one generally gets promotion in around 10 years of service.
Status and Power wise this job is not considered to be rather good upto Under secretary level in CSS. Means nothing much associated to this. Yeah NO CORRUPTION! An Assistant in CSS is posted in various various ministries and is a DELHI job primarily.
Promotions........1. SO which is a group-B gazetted post with GP of Rs 4,800. An SO is fixed in the next GP of 5,400 in Pay Band-II itself after completion of 4 years service as SO.2. Under Secretary with GP of Rs 6,6003. Deputy Secretary with GP of Rs 7,6004. Director with GP of Rs 8,700

Assistant in Railway
This is a post in the pay band 9,300-34,800 with grade pay of RS 4,600.As I have learnt an Assistant in Railway is generally posted at RAIL BHAWAN. Mind Rail Bhawan is in Delhi itself. If it's so it should be better than CSS as an Assistant in Railway gets some additional benefits like; a little over double of the bonus that the employees of other govt organisations get (around Rs 8,000 a year) and free All India Railway AC Pass/es. Also you might be getting some kind of benefits in Ticket Reservation etc. As far as promotion prospects here are concerned they might be a little slower than CSS. Yeah no much corruption!
An Assistant in Railways gets 1 pass for family ( to and fro) anywhere in India free and 3 passes for family (to and fro) in which he pays 1/3rd of the total amount of fare....all this is for tier-2 AC ticket.....then railway has its own railway homes all over India; so u can stay there at a very cheap rate if u using railway passes.

Assistant in MEA & Assistant (Cypher) in MEA
This is a post in the pay band 9,300-34,800 with grade pay of RS 4,600.The most sought after Assistant post under CGLE due to charm of foreign posting and many other lucrative facilities like children's education, accommodation etc and a very handsome salary of more than 1 lakh per month (perhaps upto Rs 1,25,000). But one can be posted in countries like Afganistan, Pakistan, Irak, Libya too; but nothing to fear on this count as while sending one to an other country on posting he is given a few choices for the needed postings and he is posted according to those choices preferably. If one chooses any of the countries mentioned he is given 50% more salary and his tenure there is counted as DOUBLE; means he has to serve there for one and a half year which is counted equal to three years. Cyphor Asst. is a little different from Asst. (general) because they have to do the task of coding and decoding of some highly confidential language in addition. Cypher has night shifts also and has to work for 6 days. A system of 2 days off and 2 days will be night shift.....so no Sat Sun like system.Cyphor Asst gets more foreign postings than general Asst but the promotional avenues are better in General Asst. In MEA the promotional chances are very less and one can go up to the level of Under Secretary (US). He can be promoted to the next post in two ways-----i) Direct after 15-17 years ii) After 8 years or so after clearing departmental exams.
An Assistant (General) is supposed to be posted generally 3 years in India and 3 years in foreign and like this throughout his tenure of service whereas an Assistant (Cypher) is posted 3 years in India and 6 years in foreign and like this

DIVISIONAL ACCOUNTANT
This is a post in the pay band 9,300-34,800 with grade pay of RS 4,200.This post comes under CAG and this organisation only allocate the states/zones to DAs. The allocation is made to different different states' AG offices as per the position of merit and state preferences of an individual. They discharge the role of Financial Advisers tothe Executive Engineers and ensure a measure of proficiency in the accounting of public works transactions besides serving the needs ofinternal audit.
There are some departments in every state like agriculture; irrigation; etc. Each such department is further divided into some divisions. The head of the accounting branch of such division is called DIVISIONAL ACCOUNTANT. He has to see everything regarding expenses incurred on an item falling into his area; make estimation of an expense to be incurred on an item and make budget regarding the same; and etc. The final decision is to be taken by his seniors who normally dont make an objection on the file put by the Division Accountant. All in all this post is reported to be very good. I have heard that this post does not exist in Delhi.
The next promotional post is Divisional Accountant Officer.

Statistical Investigator-II
This is a post in the pay band 9,300-34,800 with grade pay of RS 4,200.Office Posting: All type of clerical work like Noting, Drafting, Dispatching of documents, etc.; and Data Entry, Analysis, Tabulation, Compiling and Editing of Data, Data Encoding etc.
Field Posting: Data collection of any type of area like agricultural, ration etc, preparing rough sketch maps of areas to be enumerated etc. When on a field work he is entitled for certain allowances; Rs 500 or roundabout.
Promotions: Statistical Investigator-I (Group-B Gazetted), Assistant Director, Deputy Director, Joint Director and so on.

AUDITOR
This is a post in the pay band 5,200-20,200 with grade pay of RS 2,800.He has to pass a confirmatory exam first to be confirmed. He becomes Sr Auditor automatically after the completion of three CALENDER YEARS service as Auditor subject to his confirmation. The pay-band for Sr Auditor is 5,200-20,200 and grade pay of Rs 4,200. But an Auditor can also appear in the SAS Exam after two years of qualifying service at the post if he is confirmed. After passing the exam he becomes AAO (Assistant Audit Officer) which is a Group-B gazetted post in the pay-band 9,300-34,800 with grade pay of Rs 4,800. But while on this post of AAO he has to pass certain departmental exam which has papers that are extremely difficult in nature. If they are not passed within a certain period he is subjected to be demoted to the Auditor post again. BIG DRAWBACK!
An Auditor can also to be asked to go on official tours sometimes which may run for good 9 months period even.

Tax Assistant in CBDT
This is a post in the pay band 5,200-20,200 with grade pay of RS 2,400.Tax Assistant in CBDT can be posted at two levels-----------either in assessment of tax or in non-assessment. When he is posted in assessment he is supposed to do the work related to assessment of the income tax of an individual or a partnership firm or a company or as the case maybe; and he is to feed that data in the computer. He could also be asked to do any clerical work like work related to DIARY AND DISPATCH, noting, drafting etc. He could also be asked to accompany the RAID team. When he is posted at a seat that belongs to non-assessment he is supposed to do only clerical work. He also gets a SIM from the department on which all STD or LOCAL calls on any phone of BSNL or MTNL are totally free. On phones of other companies he can make free calls upto 400 minutes a month; whether local or STD or both types. This SIM is provided to every TA in CBDT irrespective of type of the seat he is posted at.
Promotions:Sr TA, ITI, ITO (Group-B gazetted); Assistant commissioner and so on.
His next promotion is to the post of Sr TA for which 3 years of service is a qualification; means he cant be promoted to that post before 3 years of his tenure in the post of TA. Besides a departmental exam (in the name of DEPARTMENTAL EXAM FOR MINISTERIAL STAFF) too is a must to pass for promotion. He can appear in this exam anytime after his joining; according to the schedule declared. But this exam is just an eligibility; means he can be promoted only according to his seniority. After promoted to Sr TA he is promoted to ITI. For being promoted to ITI there is a departmental exam too which TA also can take but anytime after passing the departmental exam for Sr TA.

IBPS To Hire Average 50,000 Employee Each Year for Next Three Years : Director, IBPS.

In a recent interview to Times Of India Newspaper, Anup Sankar Bhattacharya, director at the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, has said that IBPS will hire approximately 55000 employee in 2014. He has also mentioned that IBPS plans to hire on average 50,000 employees every year for next three years.

The employment scenario in the country is likely to witness a surge in 2014 with the banking segment expected to hire aggressively and a rebound in economic growth raising prospects for jobs across sectors. A deep economic slowdown and delay in implementation of projects have hurt jobs in several sectors,particularly in manufacturing.The slowdown in developed economies also hit jobs in the export and other allied sectors.

The banking sector has drawn up ambitious hiring plans for officers as well as administrative staff. State-run banks are expected to recruit about 55,000 officers and clerical staff in 2014.On an average,in the next three years,the banking sector will recruit about 50,000 employees, said Anup Sankar Bhattacharya, director at the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection.

The extent of demand for banking jobs is evident from the fact that nearly 10 lakh candidates appeared in the written exams for 19,000 vacancies for officers in state-run banks.Out of 10 lakh, only 57,000 will be called for interviews.

Other sectors which are likely to benefit from the economic recovery,in terms of jobs,are retail,hospitality,logistics,engineering,consumer goods,life sciences,pharmaceuticals and medical diagonistics. Infrastructure, Engineering &Exports Infosys, the countrys second biggest software services exporter,has plans to hire 15,000 to 16,000 engineers next year.An improvement in demand for outsourcing in the US and other countries is expected to raise job prospects for engineers,programmers and others.
Though 2013 marked a year of disappointment on hiring front,2014 seems promising.The upcoming national elections coupled with the improvement in the global economic conditions are expected to pull the market out of the guessing phase and bring cheer, said Ashok Reddy,managing director of TeamLease Services,a recruitment consultancy firm.

In fact,as the year progresses companies are expected to come out and invest again,automatically leading to talent search, he said,adding that sectors such as consumer goods,durables,telecom,retail and hospitality are expected to drive growth.

The infrastructure sector is also likely to benefit as projects get off the ground.Several stalled projects are expected to kick off,stoking demand for skilled and unskilled workers.Demand for jobs will come from the planned industrial corridors,which will link key cities.

As the core sector improves,floodgates should open.There has been considerable amount of investment in big ticket projects, said K Sudershan, managing partner at EMA Partners International,a global executive search firm.

There is a fair degree of optimism, he said,adding that the job scene may gather pace after the national elections in 2014.Sudershan said sectors such as metals,power,real estate could witness demand for jobs as clarity emerges on the policy front and sentiment improves.He further said a significant amount of retirements in the next two to three years in the manufacturing sector could drive demand for engineers.

Gautam Nair,managing director at Matrix Clothing,said improvement in the US economy and Europe augured well for employees in the labour-intensive textile sector.But,ironically in a country like India,we are facing shortage of labour, Nair said,adding that the gap was wide for both quantity and quality of labour.Unemployable Graduates While the jobs scenario is expected to improve,for employers it will be a challenge to find employees who possess the right skills.There is ample opportunity for people with the right DNA.But,the fact is that most of the graduates are not really employable.Employers have become far more quality conscious, said Ronesh Puri,managing director of Executive Access,a search firm.

Unfortunately universities are churning out sub-optimal talent.They have not been able to reorient to market needs.There has to be major shift in the way universities and institutions are imparting education, Puri said,adding that 2014 would be a far better year for jobs compared to the past two years.While the government has mounted an effort to upgrade skills,experts say it has to be on a war footing as millions of young men and women enter the job market.And,the options should be outside the farm sector,which still employs a large chunk of the population.

ROLE OF AADHAAR IN BANKING

About AADHAR: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) was established by Government of India with an objective to implement Multipurpose National Identity Card or Unique Identification Card (UID Card)in India.

This project is part of the Planning Commission and headed by Mr. Nandan Nilekani, a former co-chairman of Infosys Technologies.

A budget of `3000 crores is allotted for implementation of the ambitious project with an objective to cover 60 crore residents by 2014

It is aimed to issue a unique identification number to all Indian residents with intent:

i. to eliminate duplicate/fake identities

ii. to put hassle-free, cost effective verification/authentication system in place thereby

iii. to save considerable resources of various User Departments as well as beneficiaries at large.

Basics of UID (AADHAR)

i. It will be a randomly generated twelve digit number for every resident of India. Example:2653 8564 4663.

ii. The number will be unique, which means, no two residents will have the same number.

iii. No resident can have two numbers because AADHAAR is based on a combination of standard information like name, address, age and biometric information which is unique to every person.

iv. AADHAR will be used to prove identity not citizenship.

v. It will not be compulsory to get an AADHAAR number

Benefits to the users:

1. The AADHAAR will become the single source of identity verification. Once residents enroll, they can use the number multiple times.

2. The large number of residents, who currently don’t have any identity documents and are therefore ‘excluded’ from beneficiary lists, can also get an ‘identity’ through the' Introducer' system.

Role of AADHAAR in Banking System:

Aadhaar Enabled Payment System or AePS is an Indian payment system developed by National Payments Corporation of India. Its working is based on unique identification number for individuals called Aadhaar.

The system allows an Aadhaar-holder to carry out financial transaction on a micro-ATM provided by the banking correspondent. It is an initiative towards providing improved social security benefits and financial inclusion of the under-privileged people.

AADHAAR Project - Role of Banks: Public Sector Banks already started entering MOU with UIDAI to act as Registrars for AADHAAR project. Banks are likely to play beyond the role of enrolling agents.

1. KYC compliance: Today, the major constraints faced by the banks while opening of accounts is the absence of valid identity and address proof of the prospective customers and it is causing inconvenience to the public and operational problems to the banks thereby unable to achieve the desired financial inclusion.

Once the project comes to live, AADHAAR number may be treated as substitute for KYC compliance which enables the banks to open accounts with a greater speed and accuracy besides saving of considerable resources.

2. Micro ATMs: As a step towards financial inclusion, RBI has allowed banks to engage intermediaries i.e. Business Correspondents (BC) to carry out specified financial transactions through Public Call Office operators, Kirana Stores, Medical Shop owners and Fair Price Shop dealers etc.

The intermediaries would be provided mobile phone and fingerprint reader and would act as a Micro ATM where a person could go to any BC across the country to withdraw/deposit money.

AADHAAR could emerge as a payment card linked to a savings account and function as a pre-paid / smart card where the government credits the amount to the accounts directly.

On implementation of the project, banks would have immediate access to many more potential customers at the bottom of the pyramid through Branchless Banking; however, this requires substantial investment in technology.

What are Micro ATMS? Micro-ATMs are biometric authentication enabled hand-held device (also known as a Point of Transaction [PoT] terminal) .

Micro-ATMs will primarily perform following functions:

1. Cash withdrawal

2. Cash deposit

3. Balance enquiry

4. Remittances

Note: i. These devices will be operated by the Business Correspondents (BCs) appointed by the banks.

ii. The physical currency would be handled by this BC and not a machine like a regular ATM.

iii. All transactions will require online biometric authentication with the UIDAI authentication server in order to be processed.

3. Mobile Banking: The Aadhaar project enables the mobile industry to create a Low-Cost High-Volume ubiquitous transaction platform to penetrate into remote rural areas of the country.

Under this every transaction point will have a mobile phone and a fingerprint reader. The resident having Aadhaar number simply walk in to any point and complete his financial transaction with ease since the service provider gets the authentication from UID online.

Advantages:

1. Brings down the costs of cash management for banks.

2. Supports physical cash transactions at the local level.

3. Substantially reduces the risk to the bank, since the cash transacted at the local level is already paid-up by the BC (Business Correspondents).

Once this model is stabilized, the distribution of financial products and services can be opened up to whoever is willing to invest in a mobile phone and a fingerprint reader. Millions of financial correspondents could be enrolled. The AADHAAR platform enables the banks to provide Virtual Banking.RO

But in most of the cases, a GAP is created as candidates in a dedicated manner prepare for competitive exams and many a times, they join a Coaching Institute for Preparation by leaving there jobs.

In such cases, We feel, the best way to answer this question is - to be honest and tell them frankly that you were preparing for IBPS or bank jobs (if you do not have any other genuine reason for GAP). As soon as you say this, their next question generally is - did you join a coaching institute for this. We suggest that you should never say in the interview that you joined a coaching for preparation, as generally interviewers perceive this negatively.

Rather,you should say that I prepared myself. If you belong to a poor background, you can also tell them that you can not afford a coaching that is why you are preparing on your own.

They might also ask you - which books did you refer for your preparation? So, be ready with the list of books.

STAFF SELECTION COMMISSION 2014 TOTAL VACANCIES

In a massive recruitment drive, the Staff Selection Commission will notify more than one lakh jobs in 2013-2014 and expects to complete the process of recruitment by September 2013, according to its Chairman N.K. Raghupathy.

The recruitment process will cover the departments of Income-Tax, Central Excise, Food Corporation of India, AIR and Doordarshan apart from notifying jobs for Central Paramilitary establishments. The notification for vacancies will shortly be issued.

Addressing a press conference here today along with the representatives of Central Industrial Security Force, the Staff Selection Commission Chairman said that next year will see a significant addition over 2012-13 indicated number of 85,000 job vacancies.

“The number could in fact go up further as we expect more vacancies to crop up requiring new recruitment,’’ he said and expressed that State Governments need to play a role in helping the process by reaching out the information to potential candidates in some of the remote parts of the State.

Extremist areas

In fact, recruitment for Paramilitary establishments in extremist sensitive areas has an interesting provision. The selection requires the candidates to be based in the district where recruitment is being taken up. Andhra Pradesh has 11 districts which have been identified as extremist sensitive.

While candidates in others parts of the country cannot apply for such jobs, those based in these districts can apply for jobs anywhere in the country.

Efforts have been made to ensure that the tests are conducted in regional language so that local candidates have access to job opportunities in any part of the country.

Paramilitary forces

In the case of recruitment of Paramilitary Forces such as Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Central Industrial Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force, local police establishment is encouraged to train them for job opportunities.

He cited the example of Andhra Pradesh where about 5,307 candidates were chosen for the 10,076 vacancies. These jobs may be carried forward. It is proposed to come out with a notification on December 15, he said.

“Of the 86.5 lakh applications made last year, over 84,000 candidates were selected in 2011-12, with the ratio of 102:1. During 2013-14, we expect about 1.5 crore applications for over one lakh jobs,’’ he said.

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE LESS MARKS IN IBPS PO 3

Now that everyone is waiting for their interview marks and the final cut off for selection I am here to inject some optimism to all the candidates who have scored less marks (60-70) in the written exam.

As seen in most of the interview centres this time IBPS has given strict instructions to every centre to not allow people without proper documents whether it be OBC creamy layer certificates, degree pass certificates, NOC from employer. Last year candidates were allowed by giving an undertaking that they will submit the documents at a later date. But this time no one was allowed without even a single improper document.

The day on which I personally had my interview saw 6 candidates out of 25 candidates in Panel 2 being rejected due to something related to their documents. They had pretty good marks like 75-85. On a formal take with the officials at the interview venue I found out that every day 20-25 candidates were being rejected out of the 100 called daily for interview. This shows that about 20-25% candidates were rejected before appearing the interview.

Though it is heart breaking for those candidates who were not allowed to appear at the interview process it is also a boon for those who have less marks in written exam. Also with these people who were rejected there were also many candidates who were absent on that day. This reduces the competition further.

Even after selection there will be many candidates who will not join due to not getting proper place of posting. Specially female candidates if they get posted in other states will not join mostly.

So no matter what happens whoever has appeared in the interview has a fair chance of selection. So friends dont loose hope and just pray to God for now.

IBPS PO 3 2014 FINAL CUT OFF EXPECTED AFTER INTERVIEW

IBPS PO III written score of the candidates has been published. While last year, in IBPS PO II, the written cutoff was 135 out of 250, in IBPS PO III the cutoff for the written has decreased drastically to 61 out of 200. So last year written cutoff was 54% of the total mark and this year it is mere 30.5% of the total mark. That is why it is very evident that the final cutoff (written + interview) is also going to vary largely in IBPS PO III than that of last year.

Analysis:

As we know that in the final cutoff calculation, 80% weightage is given to the written score and 20% weightage is given to the interview score.

In IBPS PO II, the writteen cutoff was 135 out of 150. So when calculated from 80, it comes out to be 43.2

The interview score is given out of 20. Last year the final cutoff in the first list was around 62.12. So a person who had just cleared the written cutoff with a score of 135, had to score 18.92 out of 20 in the interview (which is 93 out of 100) to secure a place in the first list. So keeping these things in mind, we can make an educated guess about the IBPS PO III expected cutoff.

IBPS PO III:

This year, the written cutoff is 61 out of 200 which turns out to be 24.4 out of 80. So if we add 20 marks of the interview, then we get 43.32

So, IBPS PO III expected cutoff for different categories is expected to be as follows:

Gen: Around 43

OBC: Around 39

SC: Around 35

ST: Around 24

What are the chances for those who have just cleared the written cutoff?

Those who have just cleared the written cutoff (score 61) need to score 90 or more in the interview so that they create a chance for themselves to be able to cross the cutoff mark of the first selection list. However, a score of 80 or above can ensure them a seat in the second selection list.

Those who have scored 70, will have to score 76 or more out of 100 in the interview to be safe for the first selection list.

Candidates with scores 80 in the written, need to score 55 or more in the interview in order to get shortlisted in the first list.

Candidates with more than 90 marks in the written exam need to just clear the interview (i.e. 40 out of 100) to see their name in the first selection list.
