We are pleased to announce the 3rd Annual Rock Make Street Festival will be held in San Francisco’s Mission District on Sunday, August 22nd 2010! The festival will be TWICE the size of last year, with three stages featuring all local and kids’ rock bands with over 100 arts and crafts vendors.

Rock Make 2010 will feature performances by the following bands on three stages:

NightLife’s Rock Make Pre-Party with Magic Bullets and Still Flyin’

Before Rock Make we’re partnering with the California Academy of Sciences for a special installment of their NightLife August Summer Concert series. “NightLife on the Rocks” takes place Thursday, August 19th, from 6-10pm at the Cal Academy. There will be performances by Magic Bullets and 2010 Rock Make artist Still Flyin’, as well as a mixology competition featuring some of the best mixologists in the Bay Area competing to see who can craft the best drink from a list of secret ingredients.

After a wonderful day of moseying around in sunny North Beach, I'm usually parched, or in the mood for some grub!

Yokohama is the best place to grab a delicious and affordable roll! My Favorites are the Little T Hat roll and the Broadway roll at only $4.50!!They are now offering 2 for 1 hot sake as well!!

With decades of pumps and stilettos ruling the multi-billion dollar shoe industry, designers are finally giving the boys something of their own to lust over. What was once a niche market for sneaker freaks on the hunt of exclusive kicks has become a $30 billion industry.

What started out in the late 80's with major brands like Adidas and Nike now has a brand pool in the thousands, with many collectors seeking the most obscure and original kicks a.k.a. "exclusives" they can get their paws on, no matter the price which can be well over a grand a pair.

Suicide - "Ghost Rider"

One of the most authentic groups to come out of the 70's and way ahead of their time. I just recently discovered Suicide after watching Downtown 81 (great movie and fantastic soundtrack by the way) and found myself getting on the phone with my record collector friends furious that I wasn't introduced to them sooner.

It's no wonder that in 2006 Christie's sold a Givenchy signature dress worn by Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany's for $947,000 (7 times the reserve price) It makes you wonder if the icon makes the designer or if sometimes the designer creates the icon. At any rate Givenchy is still today producing some of the most sophisticated and elegant designs in the industry.

Lief with SkullyBoom brought a lot to last friday's art event "I'm NOT Too Sexy For This Shirt". He came prepared with wine, speakers, shirts, toys, and even a Nerf gun. He hosted a DIY toy shooting contest for free prizes. It was a blast seeing people shooting Nerf arrows across the store and gave the event a great energy! Lief also introduced SkullyBoom's latest design for travel Speakers that even out-voiced our music! Check them out below...

while you make your
own living piece of art!

DIY class only take 5-10 minutes and includes everything you need to
make your own hanging terrarium; choose a reclaimed glass container(we have lots of cool shapes to pick from), use art wire or clear fishing line
to hang the glass container, then add Pea Pebbles, our special soil blend
made just for small pots, add some rocks or sphagnum moss, and finally
choose from a wide assortment of succulents or seedlings.

Check out one of my favorite videos on youtube right now, it's the making of... hoodies, by one of my favorite bay area designers, 5733.

Oakland California based fiftyseven-thirtythree designers, Loretta Nguyen and James Dawson design and produce screen-printed, stenciled t-shirts and appliquéd hoodies. They use solvent free inks on sweatshop free apparel and draw from an urban aesthetic where multi-culturalism and pop culture merge with inner city decay, graffiti and a lo-tech DIY sensibility. They strive to reflect and celebrate this to some degree in our designs.
