Quando “Hellhole Ratrace” começou a ganhar elogios nos blogs americanos, na metade de 2009, as matérias sobre o Girls eram sempre ilustradas por uma foto do líder, Christopher Owens, usando uma camiseta do Nirvana. À época, parecia curioso, se combinado ao humor do single, melancólico-resignado, com instrumentação shoegazer. Com o álbum completo, a imagem parecia fazer um pouco mais de sentido, à medida que a dupla revelava, não totalmente, certa sintonia com o rock americano dos anos 90, incluindo o rock de moleques que usavam camisa do Nirvana (mesmo que metaforicamente).Agora, no segundo disco, fica ainda mais claro: o Girls é mesmo uma banda de rock americana dos anos 90.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Por isso, a aclamação de um disco de rock classicista como &lt;i&gt;Father, Son, Holy Ghost&lt;/i&gt;&amp;nbsp;[True Panther/Matador, 2011] pelas publicações musicais modernas é de certa maneira surpreendente, levando em conta o aparente asco que jornalistas do tipo tem da geração X. Talvez porque Owens entregue ao ouvintes canções de reverência disfarçada, à moda das bandas de rock da época (não estamos falando de Black Crowes), como as relações entre Neil Young e Built to Spill ou Pearl Jam, Pixies e Nirvana, Black Sabbath e Soundgarden: música claramente referenciada mas com a cara do momento em que foram criadas.&amp;nbsp;Se a habilidade serve para criar números de personalidade como “Vomit” (que começa como uma reprodução fajuta de “Street Spirit” e ressurge na esperteza da combinação do vocalise gospel/RnB com distorção) e “Love, Like a River” (blues de natureza similar porém mais adocicado), porque não usar da mesmas armas pra salvar baboseiras como “Magic”, “Saying I Love You” e “Jamie Marie” da irresistível modorra?&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;nbsp;Uma explicação talvez passe por uma suposta crença do compositor de que a veracidade da suas tristezas (Owens, &lt;a href="http://www.villagevoice.com/2009-11-03/music/the-secret-life-of-girls/"&gt;você já deve saber&lt;/a&gt;, poderia facilmente ser um personagem do cinema) seja suficiente para tornar sua música real. E não é. Mesmo que a lírica melancólica encontre justificativa numa vida difícil, a música que, por diversas vezes, resvala na paródia, não tem lá muita explicação.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;nbsp;Usando as duas maiores influências da dupla, Built to Spill e Spiritualized, para tentar encontrar uma outra justificativa bem mais fantasiosa, pode-se dizer que a intenção de ser uma banda dos anos 90 foi levada à termos literais: a música aqui soa como a dessas bandas em seus discos mais recentes, vencendo mas usando o regulamento. Contudo, Christopher Owens e Chet White não tem os mesmos 30 anos de estrada. Talvez se os dois se dessem conta disso, &lt;i&gt;Father, Son, Holy Ghost&lt;/i&gt; seria mais bem sucedido.&lt;br /&gt;

A coisa techno que o Field faz tem vários nomes, a depender da publicação, mas sua melhor definição é, obviamente, "looping state of mind". E isso é algo entre o Gas e o Seefeel (o dos anos 90), algo mais definido e bem realizado (literalmente falando, mais desencanado, menos envergonhado de ser tecno) do que Pantha du Prince. Isso não quer dizer ser mais elementar: esse é um álbum mais rico que a badalada estréia &lt;i&gt;From Here We Go Sublime&lt;/i&gt;, em que todo disco formava um bloco uniforme. &lt;i&gt;Looping State of Mind&lt;/i&gt; é, em cada faixa, um temperamento diferente (destaque pro insano em "Sweet Slow Baby" e o celebratório em "Burned Out", mais alinhada com o humor da debut e de &lt;i&gt;Yesterday and Today&lt;/i&gt;). É a obra que pode levá-lo pra fora do nicho porque é, por várias razões, o melhor trabalho de Axel Willner.&lt;br /&gt;

Na sua estréia solo e faz o mesmo que faz em grupo com uma única diferença: este é um disco, digamos, solo... Como reflexo da personalidade do artista, I Can't Get No (Stevie Jackson) - belíssimo trocadilho - é um&amp;nbsp;álbum&amp;nbsp;engraçadinho e menos dramático do que os capitaneados por Murdoch. E, por isso, sem a sutileza e as variações de humor dos melhores discos da banda escocesa. Jackson tenta compensar com letras espertas ("Press Send" é bem engraçada) e um divertidíssima falta de vergonha para a auto-depreciação. Funciona, aqui e ali, mas não tornam mais fáceis os aparentemente longos 40 minutos de duração. Como curiosidade, aparecem&amp;nbsp;Kurt Dahle, John Collins (New Pornographers) e Katrina Mitchell (The Pastels) como convidados.&lt;br /&gt;

Então, dizer que a estréia do jovem Trevor Powers é tímida não é relativizar a falta de talento: eis aqui um disco tímido na acepção mais utilizada da palavra. É o que se chamava de indietronica em 2005, mas feito "in the basement" com três ou quatro filtros de reverb do Ableton (porque estamos em 2011 e Trevor é tímido, não burro). Que me perdoem os autistas (e a AMA - Associação dos Amigos do Autista - não me processem, ok?), mas depois de tantos filhos, o Postal Service gerou mais um. Autista.&lt;br /&gt;

Mas vamos partir do princípio que escrever pra si seja o mais próximo do ideal. Daniel Bejar, nesse caso, está próximo do ideal. Na primeira faixa de &lt;i&gt;Troubles In Dreams&lt;/i&gt; ele brinca com ouvinte: "Eu te digo o significado disso, talvez não imediatamente... talvez nunca!". Em entrevistas, ele se recusa a dizer o que cada frase, verso ou canção significa. E em "Blue Eyes" diz, claramente, "Eu escrevo poesia para mim, eu escrevo poesia para mim!". Olha que esse "eu" pode ser só o personagem &lt;strike&gt;pois sou ator&lt;/strike&gt; da canção, porém, tudo indica que "eu" é "ele", nesse caso.&lt;/div&gt;

Porque de alguma maneira, pessoa nascida e criada no calor do Rio, com pretensões profissionais na área da saúde, se acha muita parecida com pessoa nascida e criada no frio de Toronto, com pretensões profissionais na área das artes plásticas. É o mistério da arte, da identificação com a arte.&lt;/div&gt;

Por alguma razão, a forma que Daniel Bejar vê a música é extremamente similar com a ideal (o meu), a perfeição (a minha), ao que eu faria se músico fosse. Serve à experimentação aqui e ali ("Bay of Pigs", estréia estupidamente lo-fi, colaborações com Tim Hecker e Loscil) sem nunca abandonar a melodia, seja torta ("The Bad Arts", "Jackie, Dressed in Cobras"), seja clássica ("European Oils", meu Deus, "European Oils"!). O homem é Stephen Malkmus e é Ivan Lins, também, sente o drama.&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;i&gt;Kaputt &lt;/i&gt;[Merge, 2011],&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;LP em que diz que escreve só pra si, é contraditoriamente seu álbum mais popular. Mais popular que &lt;i&gt;Rubies&lt;/i&gt;, um disco de canções (tirando os números de abertura e encerramento). A relação atual do ouvinte médio com a música talvez explique o porquê: o mais recente parece corresponder o tesão idiota dessa geração por música sintética mesmo que, na realidade, nem mesmo dê uma piscadela em direção a esse público (idiota). A faixa-título, "Blues Eyes", "Suicide Demo for Kara Walker"... todas dialogam com o indefensável desse mundo, com o que a publicidade não aprovou. A inclusão de "Bay of Pigs", lançada em 2009 e que termina &lt;i&gt;Kaputt&lt;/i&gt; como um resumo do que se passou, parece até deboche. Mas a identificação ocorreu. É misterioso, não falei?&lt;/div&gt;

Como&amp;nbsp;apêndice&amp;nbsp;de resenha, assim, bem en passant, para não incomodar, comenta-se que algumas escolhas da banda Copacabana Club (como o nome, da banda e do disco, por exemplo) revelam certo oportunismo. É certo que não é feitio da imprensa brasileira se indispor com essa juventude bem nascida mas essas escolhas dizem muito mais do que a crítica brasileira (inclua aí, irresponsavelmente, blogs) enxerga. É algo confuso no cerne do conceito artístico: eles simplesmente poderiam não saber tocar (check!), eles simplesmente poderiam não ter criatividade (check!), eles&amp;nbsp;simplesmente&amp;nbsp;poderiam ter chegado um pouco atrasados (check!), tudo facilmente perdoável... O problema é que os planos de grandiosidade do quinteto curitibano acabam transformando a natureza do negócio: definitivamente,&amp;nbsp;&lt;i&gt;Tropical Splash&lt;/i&gt; [ST2, 2011] não é música.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Pra não deixar maiores dúvidas sobre o conteúdo deste LP&lt;i&gt;, Tropical Splash&lt;/i&gt; é uma peça publicitária. Muito da música jovem da década passada tem essa característica e, sendo essa a aparente fonte única de inspiração dos artistas em questão, seu peso duplica. Com exceção de um número sessentista (não me diga!) lá pelo meio do disco, todas as faixas são uma tentativa de reproduzir mecanicamente o sucesso comercial do rock dançante da década anterior, música de comercial da Adidas, música para Popload. Não há nenhuma referência a algo tropical/ao Tropicalismo per se, exceto no conceito mercadológico da coisa, uma tentativa de enganar estrangeiros ao localizá-los próximos da música de invenção brasileira, quando a verdade é que este álbum está próximo da&amp;nbsp;(ou na)&amp;nbsp;prateleira&amp;nbsp;de liquidação do indie-dance-inglesinho de 2005, junto de Goodbooks, Sunshine Underground, CSS e outros nomes igualmente insignificantes.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
O Copacabana Club é um grande plano, iniciado com o&amp;nbsp;vídeo&amp;nbsp;super-produzido de "Just Do It" (faixa que reaparece em &lt;i&gt;Tropical Splash&lt;/i&gt; e dita o compasso de quase todas as outras faixas, ou vocês acham eles são bobos?), que peca por começar de cima para baixo. Se a intenção de tropicalizar a música jovem nacional é transformá-la num insuportável editorial de moda da Vice, o&amp;nbsp;Copacabana&amp;nbsp;Club está dando o seu quinhão de artificialidade. Agora, se for apenas citação ou homenagem, &lt;i&gt;Tropical Splash&lt;/i&gt; não chega nem a respingar em algo parecido com tropicalismo porque é frio, covarde, comercial e para comercial. Antes de ser o&amp;nbsp;Copacabana&amp;nbsp;Club, não custava nada visitar Copacabana.&lt;br /&gt;

Por&amp;nbsp;coincidência, todos os fantasmas do cinema o são desde o século XIX. Não existe quase ninguém que tenha virado alma penada em dias modernos, penar é muito 19th century. Então, a chance de você topar com um espírito hipster atormentado que curte Animal Collective é quase zero: fantasma, aquele de raiz mesmo, curte uma vibe mais pré-rock, sabe? Você acha que menininho do além relaxa com chillwave? Mas não mesmo! O menininho do além passa correndo pela casa e coloca para tocar é um vinilzinho gostoso, com os clássicos dos anos 20 (enquanto o dono da casa/protagonista do filme sai correndo, desesperado). Vinilzinho como os utilizados por James Leyland Kirby no seu mais novo e fascinante álbum, &lt;i&gt;An Empty Bliss Beyond This World &lt;/i&gt;[History Always Favours The Winners, 2011], uma viagem sonora e filosófica que assusta mais que o meninho do além e suas peraltices.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Kirby pensa muito em conceitos. Talvez por isso tenha &lt;a href="http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/13891-sadly-the-future-is-no-longer-what-it-once-was/"&gt;crítico que se revela claramente confundido&lt;/a&gt; com suas manifestações artísticas, insistindo que elas existem mais como idéia do que música propriamente, como se fosse possível desvencilhá-las. Quem vê a música com olhos puramente industriais, ou filtrados por um lente industrial, tende a pensar dessa maneira. Kirby, felizmente, não é desses: o que o inspira não é exatamente música mas o leva a fazer música. Exemplos: a inspiração para Caretaker surgiu ao assistir uma cena de Jack Nicholson em "O Iluminado" e o conceito do álbum mais recente é baseado num estudo que revelou a maior facilidade de acesso às memórias que os pacientes de&amp;nbsp;Alzheimer possuem quando estas estão ligadas à música. Preenchimento sonoro num filme (cinema, arte, música), estudo médico (ciência, música) ou porcos (er, filosofia?, música): uma mente aberta gera arte também aberta.&lt;br /&gt;

Analisado puramente como música, o álbum se estabelece como uma alternativa ao ambient, buscando opções numa roupagem radicalmente (quando ler, por favor, grite a palavra radicalmente) retrô. Analisando como conceito, à maneira que alguns críticos preferem fazer, o álbum também é plenamente bem sucedido, funcionado como uma exploração minuciosa do envelhecimento, da memória, da condição humana. E, como obra aberta,&amp;nbsp;&lt;i&gt;An Empty Bliss...&lt;/i&gt; serve também à imagens particulares, pertencentes a cada ouvinte:&lt;i&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/i&gt;se apoiando numa linha frágil entre o francamente assustador e docemente melancólico, pode evocar a imagem de um Duke Ellington, lamentando por Javanette, no fundo do mar. Ou a imagem daquele menininho do além, que corre pra lá e pra cá, nos filmes: embora assustador, ele é só um fantasma. Ele é só um menininho.&lt;br /&gt;

Sempre AO ACASO, foram inseridos vários "AI FINATTI" no meio desse deslumbre literário para provar um ponto de vista. Lembrando que, é claro, todas as intervenções foram distribuídas aleatoriamente.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Bom, o ponto de vista a ser provado é que, mesmo um gênio da arte (da arte literária, no caso do jornalista usado como exemplo) pode ser prejudicado quando seu trabalho inicial é excessivamente modificado. Exatamente o que acontece nesse trecho se repete no novo trabalho de Ras G, artista que já registrou seus beats em selos como o Brainfeeder de Steven Ellison e que retorna esse ano com um aguardado LP pela Ramp: entre intervalos que não chegam a 30 segundos, as batidas enfumaçadas de &lt;i&gt;Down 2 Earth&lt;/i&gt; [Ramp Recordings, 2001] são brindadas com a futuramente&amp;nbsp;amaldiçoada&amp;nbsp;saudação OH RAS. Por que futuramente? Durante as primeiras faixas, o sampler passa até despercebido. Mas aí ele se &amp;nbsp;repete, se repete, se repete, se repete...&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;E se repete... Não é prudente analisar o procedimento descolado da intenção, mas a repetição da inserção é de uma infelicidade mastodôntica. Sua admiração pelo dub explícita tanto na sua música quanto na sua persona artística explica o motivo mas não justifica a&amp;nbsp;utilização. Nessa confusão, batidas do tamanho da Via Láctea se apequenam diante do insistente sampler. Fica difícil ver a devoção pelo soul (como Gil Scott Heron, devidamente homenageado) e pelo hip hop americano dos anos 90 (Dilla é, inegavelmente, a influência principal, mas toda a década é explicitamente homenageada na faixa... "I Love the 90's HipHop"). Fica difícil observar a fluência com que os beats passeam pelos gêneros, em elegância comparável à do próprio Ellison, no Flying Lotus. E é tudo por culpa do maldito OH RAS.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;É um daqueles casos em que o excesso de reverência atrapalha. O sampler pode até parecer uma viagem&amp;nbsp;monstruosamente egocêntrica do artista mas analisando a boa intenção que a "marca d'água" possa ter, imagina-se que a referência seja a seus ídolos jamaicanos, não a si mesmo. Um produtor resolveria, mas em disco de produtor, a situação ganha contornos dramáticos. Com Ras G carregando na reverência, &lt;i&gt;Down 2 Earth&lt;/i&gt; se tornou, ao mesmo tempo, um bom disco e um grande aborrecimento. &lt;i&gt;Cê&lt;/i&gt;, a volta de Caetano Veloso à realidade, foi lançado dois anos depois de &lt;i&gt;Calado&lt;/i&gt;, a estréia de Romulo Fróes. &lt;i&gt;Calado&lt;/i&gt; era um disco maduro, no sentido mais rústico que a palavra possa ter, um disco&amp;nbsp;adequado&amp;nbsp;ao que se espera de um artista confortável no topo de sua discografia monstruosa. &lt;i&gt;Cê&lt;/i&gt;, ao contrário, era inconsequente, jovial, adequado ao que se espera de um estreante, como Fróes, por exemplo. É uma grande felicidade poder fazer esse tipo de conexão, como se fossem artistas contemporâneos, porque Caetano acendeu Fróes. Sendo ainda &lt;i&gt;Calado&lt;/i&gt; um bom disco, a leva seguinte do paulistano se mostrou bastante superior: &lt;i&gt;Cão&lt;/i&gt;, lançado no mesmo ano de &lt;i&gt;Cê&lt;/i&gt; e, principalmente, o enorme &lt;i&gt;No Chão, Sem o Chão&lt;/i&gt;, esse sim, muito influenciado pelo novo (e pelo velho) Caetano.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Não que Romulo Fróes seja um cara de pouca personalidade: seu novo álbum,&amp;nbsp;&lt;i&gt;Um Labirinto em Cada Pé &lt;/i&gt;[ybmusic, 2011] prova que personalidade não lhe falta. É que essa ligação, inconsciente, com Caetano torna suas composições ainda mais especiais. Não obstante suas influências claras, o disco é o que mais se aproxima de "Fróes por Fróes", ou do que se imaginaria ser esse auto-retrato, baseado em entrevistas. Na nova investida, o compositor não precisa mais gritar "Eu não sou sambista!", pecha que o largou na barulheira da primeira sessão de seu álbum anterior, intitulada &lt;i&gt;Cala Boca Já Morreu&lt;/i&gt;. Aqui ele abre espaço para outro período da MPB: enquanto o anterior era mais relacionado aos anos 70 de João Donato, Bosco ou do Caetano de &lt;i&gt;Araçá Azul&lt;/i&gt; à &lt;i&gt;Qualquer Coisa&lt;/i&gt;, o sucessor confraterniza de maneira muito mais intensa com o controverso período dos anos 80.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Isso torna o ambiente um tanto mais perigoso: as letras e melodias vocais lembram de um Luiz Melodia inspirado a Djavan, resvalando até em Betinho, se você deixar a imaginação fluir. O contestado Gil desse período também vem à mente, principalmente na funkeada "Ditado", com destaque para intervenção do saxofone brincalhão de Thiago&amp;nbsp;França. Existem faixas parecidas, como "Máquina de Fumaça" e seu baixo típico da época, reforçando a ligação com essa década. Porém, nada como o que fez o Fino Coletivo em &lt;i&gt;Copacabana&lt;/i&gt; ou Rubinho Jacobina em &lt;i&gt;Força Bruta&lt;/i&gt;: o violinista tem inteligência suficiente para não deixar sua música se confundir com paródia.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
As composições de Nuno Ramos e as que ele divide somente com Fróes, são os pontos de tensão do disco, de&amp;nbsp;espírito&amp;nbsp;mais relaxado, no geral. A abertura, composta por Ramos, traz Dona Inah sozinha (ou "sozinha nesse palco", como ela mesma diz), interpretando com vigor uma letra niilista que se passa por amarga ("Ninguém me dá um novo dia/ Niguém me mata de alegria/&amp;nbsp;Ninguém&amp;nbsp;canta pra ninguém") para se revelar inspiradora, no final ("Ah, pensa no amor!/ Ah, pensa no amor!/ Ou não pensa mais em ninguém"), como&amp;nbsp;Nietzsche&amp;nbsp;ensinou. Nas outras canções, há algo de preocupação social embutido, o que pode ser bom (a ótima referência histórica da MPB, em "Boneco de Piche") ou ruim (a já cansada relação do sofrimento de Jesus com sofrimento do cidadão comum em "Filho de Deus", que não oferece nenhum atrativo em termos musicais, também). Existe certa comicidade em "Quero Quero", outra composição divida pelos dois, porém não se deve ao bem colocado "tomar no cu" do refrão (que&amp;nbsp;suscita&amp;nbsp;outra discussão, essa em torno do bom mocismo na MPB e leva, de novo, a pensar em Caetano): "Quero, quero, quero, um teco, um teco, um teco, disso daí", a primeira frase da canção, é daquelas que ditas de maneira séria acabam provocando boas risadas.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Dividindo a composição com Clima e Rodrigo Campos, Fróes revela o seu melhor lado, como no inspiradíssimo samba-axé (olha Gil e Caê dos 80, outra vez) "Muro", também cheia de referências (a que lembra a ladeira da preguiça, de Gilberto Gil, é genial). A canção tem conexão forte com "Tua Beleza", (a primeira participação mais evidente de Nina Becker), um delicioso "funk baiano", sem nenhuma conotação preconceituosa na expressão. Como&amp;nbsp;curiosidade, ficam registradas as inúmeras citações da paisagem carioca (Lapa, Guanabara, Corcovado, Cassino da Urca, Cacique de Ramos...) vindas de um paulistano nato. Mas seriam mesmo referências à cidade ou outras referências musicais? Só perguntando ao compositor...&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Terminando com mais uma relação entre Caetano e Fróes, &lt;i&gt;Um Labirinto em Cada Pé&lt;/i&gt; é para o disco anterior o mesmo que &lt;i&gt;Zii e Zie&lt;/i&gt; é para &lt;i&gt;Cê. &lt;/i&gt;Explicando:&amp;nbsp;enquanto o primeiro é afirmação (ambos usaram guitarras como método), o segundo é um "aproveitador" da liberdade conquistada. Mas não confunda esses inúmeros elos listados na resenha com excesso de reverência. Ela existe e é bem-vinda, mas eles estão aqui à serviço de ilustração porque, na realidade, o álbum é mais uma obra do&amp;nbsp;compositor&amp;nbsp;a trazer frescor para a cansada MPB. Um verso, em "Tua Beleza", resume tudo que Romulo Fróes parece sempre querer dizer a cena brasileira atual: "Para de ficar quieta!".&lt;br /&gt;

Emma, aquela mulher, é uma grande vadia. Justin Vernon que o diga, obrigado a viver na sombra desta senhora eternamente após &lt;i&gt;For Emma, Forever Ago&lt;/i&gt;, um dos grandes discos da década passada. Mas Vernon não queria viver dessa maneira. Em entrevista a Rolling Stone, afirmou: "Eu chamei várias pessoas para alterar minha voz... eu fiz o disco sozinho mas permiti que essas pessoas entrassem e mudassem o cenário". Ou seja, o Bon Iver não queria mais ser aquele Bon Iver. E, curiosamente, no álbum chamado... &lt;i&gt;Bon Iver&lt;/i&gt; [Jagjagwuar, 2011] ele alcança o objetivo. Porque, provavelmente, ele não ficou sabendo &lt;a href="http://g1.globo.com/planeta-bizarro/noticia/2011/06/festa-divulgada-facebook-reune-mais-de-1500-pessoas-na-alemanha.html"&gt;da festa que uma menina anunciou no Facebook&lt;/a&gt; e atraiu, além de 1500 pessoas, a polícia e os bombeiros: gente demais é confusão certa, meu amigo.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
É exatamente isso que &lt;i&gt;Bon Iver&lt;/i&gt; é, numa análise mais geral: uma grande confusão, até numa acepção positiva que a palavra possa ter ao descrever música. Vernon ainda canta como em &lt;i&gt;For Emma&lt;/i&gt;... mas o som agora é tão cheio, tanto organicamente como em efeitos eletrônicos, que sua voz (característica e agradável ao ponto de se tornar um verdadeiro instrumento) parece abafada no meio de tanta informação. Cabe dizer que a confusão não se deve às escolhas estéticas (o Destroyer de Daniel Bejar investiu em instrumentação vintage oitentista bem parecida com resultado mais coeso). O ponto é que a transição entre o folk e o synth-pop é extramemente turbulenta. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Existem, claro, momentos de equilíbrio que acabam sustentando toda essa movimentação. "Calgary", o primeiro single, progride de música ambiente a rock vigoroso com a elegância esperada do camarada que já entregou dois grandes discos (contando com o Volcano Choir) e um ótimo EP. "Minnesota", uma verdadeira amostra de evolução, indica o caminho ao dosar com sapiência os diversos instrumentos que se apresentam durante a faixa. "Michicant" também é destaque, com efeitos eletrônicos inteligentes e delicados.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Existem, claro, momentos de desequilíbrio que, felizmente, não comprometem o resultado final. "Hinnon, TX" é resultado da amizade com Kanye West, com certeza. Nela, fica claro que povoar sua música com diversos elementos pode não ser a melhor saída para a diversificação. A paixão do amigo rapper pelos anos 80 (e passagem pelo Gyangs, também) pode ter influenciado a inacreditável "Beth/Rest", faixa que possui uma notável vocação para a galhofa.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
No geral, &lt;i&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: inherit;"&gt;Bon Iver&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;, mesmo irregular, nos apresenta um artista irrequieto, quase desesperado com a intenção de mudar sua imagem de cantor folk. Claro que só intenção não é suficiente: nesse ano, vimos casos de artistas que alteraram as estruturas de sua música e acabaram confundindo demais seus ouvintes (&lt;i&gt;Tomboy&lt;/i&gt;?). Mas aqui a palavra mudança tem um significado bem maior. A cabana na floresta, Emma, o corvo de pernas cruzadas... tudo isso ficou para trás. Bon Iver é agora um projeto da cidade, de diversas cidades, é por isso que há tanto barulho e confusão nele.&lt;br /&gt;

Se você já leu ou ouviu alguma coisa sobre o Hauschka, dá até para pular essa pequena introdução. É uma informação básica mas necessária: Volker Bertelmann, o músico que grava e lança álbuns como Hauschka, é um exponente do &lt;i&gt;prepared piano&lt;/i&gt;. E o&lt;i&gt; prepared piano&lt;/i&gt;, o que é? &lt;i&gt;Prepared piano&lt;/i&gt; é (agora você senta porque lá vem uma grande revelação) um PIANO PREPARADO (UAU). Preparado com pregadores nas cordas, colares de conchas e até caixinhas de Tic Tac cheias, para expandir consideravelmente o som de um instrumento conhecido pelo conservadorismo dos seus praticantes.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Beltermann não é o único, nem o primeiro, nem o criador do método. Mas a forma que sua discografia vem tomando é o que torna sua figura interessante. &lt;i&gt;Salon Des Amateurs&lt;/i&gt; [FatCat, 2011], seu LP mais recente, é o que mais se aproxima de um disco dançante, embora essa não seja sua característica principal. Enquanto um Brandt Brauer Frick pode até ser classificado como techno-orgânico, o piano preparado do Hauschka acaba por tornar-se semelhante ao som de bandas com tendências mais eletrônicas no post-rock. Mas, na sua maior parte, o álbum exibe com orgulhos grooves de fazer inveja a muita banda repleta de aparato instrumental.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
"Ping" que, bem forçadamente, pode ser chamada de hip hop de câmara, e "Radar" (uma das poucas faixas que usam instrumentação extra), com seus graves acachapantes, se destacam ao se aproximarem levemente de uma música de pista. Porém, desconfio que nenhuma delas vá provocar alguma coisa além de olhares curiosos quando tocadas em casas noturnas. Principalmente porque, acertadamente, Beltermann evita a reprodução simples da música eletrônica (ou do techno, pra ser mais específico). O curioso é que essa opção fica mais evidente nas faixas em que o músico recebe convidados (como em "Girls", por exemplo, enfeitada com o cello de Joe Burns, do Calexico).&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;i&gt;Salon Des Amateurs&lt;/i&gt; é bem sucedido por equilibrar magistralmente o lado cerebral do professor Beltermann com o lado divertido do músico Beltermann. O pianista alemão definitivamente não reiventou a roda, mas é difícil que você ouça outra "banda-de-um-homem-só", sem maiores apoios de background eletrônico, entregar um álbum tão satisfatório em termos de composição e acessibilidade neste ano.&lt;br /&gt;
