I started indiePulse years ago as a simple way to stay invloved and help promote the work of emerging artists. I had no idea how much my life and the music industry would change over the years. It's amazing how indie has become mainstream. When I started, CDs came in the mail everyday. It was exciting and it seemed easier to manage all of the new music coming in. Now, even though I prefer CDs, most music arrives digitally in my inbox - making it all a bit more challenging. With a family and career, my life is way busier. While a long commute to the office ensures that I listen to a ton of music, I don't have a lot of time for posting.. I want to find more time for that in 2012.

There was a lot of great music released in 2011. Thanks to all of the artists that have contacted me and submitted music over the past year. I wish I could have more time to talk with all of you and post all of your music. Even if your music didn't appear on indiePulse this year, your art is a huge inspiration to me and the world. Keep dreaming, keep working and please keep sending me your music. I wish you all the best and can't wait to hear 2012.

Here are some of my favorite songs from 2011 - the songs I couldn't shake from my head and have memories tied to them.

The Civil Wars "Barton Hollow"

The Decemberists "Down By The Water"

Stag "These Times Are For All Of Us"

R.E.M. "Alligator_ Aviator_Autopilot_Antimatter"

Yuck "The Wall"

Lykke Li "I Follow Rivers"

The Lonely Forest "Coyote"

Wye Oak "Civilian"

The Black Keys "Little Black Submarines"

The Wooden Birds "Two Matchsticks"

The Head and The Heart "Ghosts"

Raphael Saadiq "Stone Rollin'"

Tapes n' Tapes "Badaboom"

Release the Sunbird "Come Back To Us"

Washed Out "Eyes Be Closed"

Pearl Jam "Acoustic #1 [Demo 1991]"

Wilco "Born Alone"

Wild Flag "Short Version"
