Gibson.com is counting down the top 50 American bands on their website. They posted bands 41-50 today and Green Day has come in at number 50.

Other bands of note in the 41-50 range include The Strokes, Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick, and Kings of Leon.

Green Day are an American band who make ambitious music out of, well, questioning America. The music of their 2004 album, American Idiot, expresses the fear in the U.S. the days after 9/11, as well as the band’s disillusion with the government of the era. All politically charged lyrics aside, Green Day are a rare bunch who have sold millions of albums (at 15 million, 1994’s “Dookie” is the world’s best-selling punk rock album ever), launched a Broadway musical and earned generations of punkster fans. – Anne Erickson

Billie Joe talks about Trick's Cheap "Surrender" with Guitar World

Billie Joe will be discussing the Cheap Trick song "Surrender" as a part of Guitar World's "100 Greatest Classic Rock Guitar Songs" issue, in the upcoming August edition of Guitar World Magazine.

In the past Green Day has covered "Surrender" during their live shows and combined it with The Replacement's "Bastards of Young" creating what Green Day calls their "Midwest Medley". Click here to listen it.

Longview, Washington writes connection to the Green Day song

An article from a local Washington newspaper recently talked about the connection their town Longview has with Green Day. The city is famous because it shares a name with one of Green Day's most popular songs, which was released in 1994.

Billie Joe wrote about the title of the song back in February on Twitter :

“Our friend/roadie Kaz Hope, suggested we call our song Longview because the 1st time we played was in Longview Washington in spring 1992″

Green Day has been writing songs since 1992, but hadn't given it a name. Since they debuted it in Longview, WA, the name stuck.

Billie Joe Armstrong’s son’s band, Joey Armstrong has been added to the local bands list at BFD! Joey’s band, Emily’s Army, is having their debut album produced by Billie Joe’s indie label Adeline Records.

Their first ablum Don’t Be A Dick is dropping on June 14, 2011!

The name “Emily’s Army” is attributed to Max and Cole Becker’s, guitarists of Emily’s Army, 15-year-old cousin Emily who was diagnosed in 1998 with Cystic Fibrosis.

Billie Joe has posted in he twitter a little bit more about the new Green day music,

"Ok here's the scoop. GD has been jamming new songs everyday. There's a ton of new songs. The direction is fresh and hi energy. Feels great

I don't want to give away too much but just know that me mike tre and Jason are collaborating and having the best time playing music.

And that's not bullshit!!"

Billie Joe first wrote about the band playing new music back in March 2011, after he left to NYC to play St. Jimmy for the final month of the show on Broadway.

"Playing new songs with Mike Tre and Jason the last couple weeks. Really fun. And working hard!"

Billie Joe win "Favorite Replacement" in Audience Choice Award

Last night Broadway.com held a ceremony to announce the winners of their 2011 Audience Choice awards in New York City. Billie Joe won the "Favorite Replacement" award where he was nominated for his run as St. Jimmy in the American Idiot musical.

Billie Joe played the role from January - February in 2011, as well as the final 3 weeks of the show in April till it's closing April 24th.

Harper Collins Catalogs create a page that curious, there are pages on their website that they inform Green Day's official books will be sold from 25 October 2011.

As we know, it's described as "the first official book about the band, by the band."

"The dynamic first book from the popular punk rock band Green Day will include hundreds of photographs of the band on tour and backstage, as well as ephemera including backstage passes, ticket stubs, handwritten notes and lyrics, and more.
