Indore Zoo - Animals Suffering Mismanagement

For last some time news of animals' poor conditions and deaths have been being reported in news but the condition is deteriorating in stead of improving. In a recent update, a Neelgay and a Siyar have succumbed to death after uncured illness. The Neelgay was ill for last ten days while the Siyar has died suddenly. Officials from the zoo had reached the spot after getting the news of the deaths, though. The dead bodies were then first conducted post-mortem in veterinary college Mhow by Dr Prashant Tiwari then were buried. The officials report that the Neelgay had crossed average age and was suffering from illness for more than a week. She was under treatment but the incessant rain for last three days further engraved her situation. While the Siyar had also crossed average age, he was 14 years. He also suffered the cold and passed away. More than 20 animals in the zoo have crossed their average age and are not well now.

Sunday was the fifth day in a ray when it continued to rain down the city. A few days back it had totally disappeared from Indore and people were preparing for the winter but suddenly it returned with Fayan; the cyclone and has set since. Many of the places in the region were covered with fog. It kept raining with frequent intervals whole the day as if reluctant to go away. It kept drizzling whole the day in Indore. The whether department has scaled it to be one inch on Sunday. From June to November it has been 43 inch which is 11 inch above average. The day temperature has further fallen by 6 degree from that on Saturday.

The number of diabetics is rapidly increasing in Indore. The number has grown five times in last five years. The strange thing is that half of the patients do not even know that they have caught the disease. These facts were revealed by the diabetes expert Dr. Dharmendra Jhawar during a Health and Diabetes Test Camp organized at M. Y. Hospital on the occasion of World Diabetes Day. Around 150 people received a health check up. Doppler tests were administered for patients. Dr. Jhawar informed that more than 3000 patients of diabetes were treated at MYH in last one year. More than 15% people of above 30 years age suffer from the disease. This imperils the patients of paralysis and even stroke.

On Saturday, junior doctors of MGM medical college disrupted the operations at MY Hospital, Indore for four hours and created a great commotion. The doctors reached college in fury and vandalised the main gate and office window pans, threw away the pots and shuttered-down the canteen. They were demanding the Dean�s resignation along with other demands. Junior doctors stopped the work at MY Hostpital from 9am to 1 at noon which also affected the surgery schedules and put OPD patients in trouble. There from they marched to the Dean�s office at college in a rally. Finding the dean�s office locked further raised their rage. When all their efforts to break into the dean�s office failed they started throwing chairs, pots and breaking window pans. Later they thronged at the college canteen and expelled every one out from there, some of the doctors threw chairs and broke cold-drink bottles. After due intimation, Sanyogita Ganj Police reached the college and controlled the derailed doctors.

The Court Makes Helmet Compulsory at Indore

After a jurisdiction from Delhi High Court, the traffic police has again initiated its activities to make helmet compulsory for two wheeler riders in Indore. Even the person sitting behind the rider will have to wear helmet. Indian Government�s Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued an order to all the RTOs of the state in this regard. As informed by RTO Dinesh Kumar Jain, the two wheeler manufacturers will have to provide appropriate helmet to the buyers along at the time of purchase of vehicle. All the dealers have been issued instruction to demand helmets from their respective manufacturers.

In an ongoing dissention between girl-students and the employees at New GDC, the girls on yesterday reached to principal�s office with other ABVP activists. The discussion started amicably but soon got hot and situation tensed. The hullabaloo students got so excited that the fear of insecurity overpowered the principal and she got unconscious on the spot. She was rushed to Suyash Hospital, Indore. The Indore police has arrested three girl-students from the spot. After accosting them about the incident, cases under act 353, 332, 186, 452-506 and 149 were filed against them. The accused students were later presented before the court where they could get bail.

Yoga Will Be Taught as an Optional Subject from Next Session - Indore

Yoga will also be added to the curriculum in all the schools and colleges in Madhya Pradesh from next session. The Chief Education Commissioner announced this on Thursday. The decision to apply Yoga as an optional subject in all the schools and colleges in the state was taken in a meeting of M. P. Yoga Committee conducted by state administration and presided by the Chief Minister on 12th August. It was decided to include the necessary part, after studying all the practical aspects, of Yoga in the curriculum. School Education Department and Tribal Education Department would arrange for teachers� Yoga training by voluntary organizations. A joint Surya Namaskar, involving local residents, will be conducted on 12th January in all the educational organizations.

The cool winds have taken the temperature down by 8 degree in Indore. The winter has arrived in a blanket of Mawtha dews this year; which harbingers good harvest in the season. The weather had marked a changed mood since Tuesday morning it self. The morning was covered with fog and it had started drizzling by 11.30 which continued through out the day with scanty intervals. The Weather Department had measured the fall to be 0.9mm in day time while the rain continued even after that. This was the first time in this winter when people were wearing woolens in day time. The highest temperature on Sunday was 31.4 degree which had fallen to 23.6 on Tuesday. The Weather Department foretells the cool breeze to continue even on Wednesday. Moisture was recorded to be 88% and 89% in morning and evening hours respectively.

Grading System To Be Applied in All Colleges - Indore

The years-old, traditional method of mark-sheets will change to grading system in all the technical and professional courses in the state. M. P. Government is going to apply new grading system in all the colleges. Standing Committee of University Chancellors has issued a proposal in this regard. The proposal has been passed to a coordination committee presided by State Governor for further consideration which will be made applicable after due permission from here. The grading system will follow IIT system wherein two types of grading system, for non professional and professional courses, will be applied in the state. For professional courses, likewise IIT, credit based grading system and for non-professional general courses Absolute Grading System will be applied. In both the grading system grades will be based on point system. Students will be awarded a number out of ten, between A to F and I W grades. Private colleges are facing dilemma in this respect. Most of the colleges say that they lack sufficient resources to apply this system. They will need to arrange faculties and some other resources before applying this system.

Colleges Denied Permission for Local Admissions - Re-counseling Confirmed : Indore

The High Court has denied permission of admissions as local level to colleges and has instructed them to conduct counseling in stead. The High Court, in a decision on plea of private colleges to conduct counseling on their own level, has denied the same. The court has allowed them to conduct re-counseling from 23rd to 27th of November, though. Colleges had also complaint that they are not allowed enough propagation at counseling centers therefore students do not come to know about new colleges. The court has liberalized on this issue and has allowed the colleges to advertise on their own expenses so that they can inform the prospective students about their qualities and attract them.

Colleges are against release of new syllabus one and half month after the start of new session. They have registered their anger against late-latifi of university. Study had begun in most of the colleges after MAT counseling on 25th September. But the university has issued intimation about new syllabus only on 3rd of November. Many of the colleges have already bought books as per old syllabus. As per the rules the university should have issued new syllabus much before the start of session but it has delayed the decision by 2 months. Colleges have already completed upto 2 units from old syllabus by now.
