Lenny Kravitz has just hit the road in North America to promote 2011′s “Black and White America.” But its successor is already well in motion — and, according to Kravitz, “pretty done.”

The set is titled “Negrophilia,” and Kravitz tells Billboard.com that the music is “very funky, very, very raw. ‘Black and White America’ was very produced. Although it’s all natural and organic, it’s a very produced record. That’s the mode I was in at that time. But (‘Negrophilia’) is a very raw, jagged-edged album.”

Kravitz was, in fact, already working on “Negrophilia” when the songs for “Black and White America” — which debuted at No. 18 on the Billboard 200 after its Aug. 30 release — started coming along. It’s not the first time in his career that Kravitz has put the brakes on one album to put another in motion. “I’m strange like that,” he acknowledges. “At the end of the day, I’m one that goes with the inspiration. So if I’m working on an album and all of a sudden I go in another direction because that’s where inspiration takes you, I’ll just follow that. I just figure everything will have it’s time. You’ve got to treat it like a bottle of wine; it might have been made right now, but it’s not ready for a few years. There will be a time for it where it’ll be exactly where it needs to be. I’m just comfortable working that way.”

Kravitz says he’s “looking forward to” finishing “Negrophilia” but also notes that he’s “still working” “Black and White America,” with tour plans that stretch through 2012 — North America until late February, Australia in March, Japan in April and then Europe during the summer. Kravitz is also headed back to the big screen this year, following his 2009 turn in “Precious” as part of the cast for the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ “The Hunger Games” that’s slated for a late March release.

PARK CITY, Utah — Joel Edgerton could tell you about Kathryn Bigelow’s untitled Osama Bin Laden movie, but then he’d have to kill you.

OK, perhaps it’s not as dramatic as all of that. Still, the “Wish You Were Here” actor spoke briefly with MTV News about starring in the Navy Seal thriller alongside Chris Pratt and Jessica Chastain, and while he’s “very excited” to start shooting the film, his lips are sealed on the top-secret op.

“I can’t really tell you anything about it,” he told MTV during the Sundance Film Festival. “I don’t know that I can’t tell you anything about it, but I’d be very ill-informed to talk about it at this point. But I’m just excited to work with all of those guys.”

Most audiences have gotten to know Joel Edgerton through his work as an actor, thanks to roles in movies like The Thing, Warrior and Animal Kingdom, but he also happens to be a talented writer as well. In 2008, along with Matthew Dabner, Edgerton wrote the Australian thriller The Square. While the movie didn’t get much attention at the box office in the United States, it was one of the projects that studios start paying attention to the future star, who is now set to star in Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby and Kathryn Bigelow’s untitled Osama bin Laden thriller. Edgerton hasn’t gotten a script produced since The Square, but new reports are saying that one is now in development.

According to THR, Joel Edgerton has sold a script titled One Night Stand to New Regency. Described as “a drama with comedic elements,” the film is about a man and woman who randomly hook up one night and must deal with the aftermath. While he is currently attached to the project as a producer, he is not inked to star. The sale was actually made late last year, but now Regency is excited about the project and will start taking meetings with potential directors in the coming weeks.

This actually sounds like a really great story idea. Obviously there are a lot of story factors missing – like if they will be dealing with the aftermath separately, how they initially met, if they have significant others, etc. – but it’s a great nugget of an idea. I look forward to seeing who they land as a director.

The Odd Life of Timothy Green

The Odd Life of Timothy Green is an upcoming American fantasy drama directed by Peter Hedges and scheduled to be released by Walt Disney Pictures on August 15, 2012. In the film, Cindy Green (Jennifer Garner) and Jim Green (Joel Edgerton) are unable to conceive, so they bury all their wishes for a baby in a box in their backyard. The following day they wake up to find a child, Timothy (CJ Adams), on their doorstep, but the child is not all that he appears to be.

Cindy Green and Jim Green, a childless couple, become frustrated with their inability to conceive, so one night they dream up their ideal offspring and write the child’s characteristics and life events on pieces of paper, including “scoring the winning goal.” The couple places the notes in a box and buries them in their backyard. After a stormy night in Stanleyville, a 10-year-old arrives at their doorstep, claiming the Greens as his own. Soon they realize that the child, named Timothy, is far more special than they originally thought.

Mad Men Season 5 finally has a premiere date! That is, if you believe star Jon Hamm.

The actor, 40, announced Friday during comic Doug Benson’s podcast, Doug Loves Movies, that the AMC drama would return on March 25. The network could not confirm the airdate.

But the date makes sense since it is a Sunday (Mad Men‘s longtime home) and comes a week after The Walking Dead‘s season finale. Mad Men hasn’t aired new episodes since October 2010, due in part to lengthy negotiations for Seasons 5 and 6 between series creator Matthew Weiner and AMC.

Hamm, who won a Golden Globe award for his performance in 2008, directed the Season 5 premiere.

How Joe Manganiello prepared his body to look ripped for Trueblood

It takes a certain kind of man to play a werewolf. So it’s fair to assume that Joe Manganiello was a decent physical specimen when he turned up to audition for HBO’s True Blood. But after he landed the role of the lycanthrope Alcide Herveaux, Manganiello realized he still had some work to do.

“When I read the books True Blood was based on, I saw that Herveaux had biceps the size of boulders. Then I learned that wolves can run 50 miles at a time,” the 34-year-old Pennsylvania native says. Manganiello required a rare combination of brute strength and agility, so he called in Ron Matthews, the Hollywood trainer who transformed Hugh Jackman into Wolverine. Matthews explained that Manganiello was plenty ripped but that body fat obscured all of his definition. “I was constantly mistaken for a professional football player,” the actor says. Through Matthews’ program of low-weight, high-rep, cardio-intensive workouts, Manganiello dropped 15 pounds and lowered his body fat from 18 percent to 8. The new regimen made his muscles longer and more limber, boosted his endurance, and made him lighter on his feet. “The idea wasn’t only to make me look a certain way but to move a certain way,” says Manganiello, whose bare-chested heroics helped him become the hit show’s newest heartthrob. “I didn’t want to be like one of those statuesque eighties action stars.”

I am looking forward to catching Chris Hemsworth in “The Cabin in the Woods “ which opens on April 13.

While the trailer gave plenty of looks at what might really be going on in the movie — five friends head to an old cabin with seemingly supernatural elements being orchestrated by people in a control room — this shot basically just shows stars Chris Hemsworth, Jesse Williams, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz and Kristen Connolly looking wary inside the cabin.

It looks like Whedon and Goddard really embraced their tag line “If you think you know this story, think again” by showing enough to intrigue but not enough to give too much away. The movie’s website doesn’t offer too many other details, although there is another cast shot. We don’t expect to find out too many more details before the film’s release, but you might want to keep an eye on the Twitter hashtag #discoverthesecret as it’s the one the official site is pushing.
