Indianapolis is a great place to start a business. The community is large enough to support the new enterprise, but small enough to allow the savvy owner to become a player in the community. IndyBiz, is a place small business owners come together to share information, resources, and ideas and discover who is making news in Indy!

INDIANAPOLIS (March 3, 2010) – Conexus Indiana announced today that it has launched Indiana Supplier INsight, a Web-based community linking manufacturers with Indiana suppliers.

Sponsored by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, the database will allow Indiana manufacturers to streamline operations, reduce transportation costs and better manage oversight by connecting with Indiana suppliers through an internet portal. Indiana Supplier INsight is a free service provided by Conexus and the IEDC.

“Indiana has attracted record levels of investment in advanced manufacturing and logistics over the last several years,” said Mitch Roob, Secretary of Commerce and chief executive officer of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. “These firms don’t just create new jobs and investment within the walls of their own facilities, but also for their suppliers. By keeping these dollars in the state, we’re multiplying our efforts to grow Indiana’s economy.”

Indiana Supplier INsight is a ‘matchmaking’ system developed on a software platform by Supplier Gateway, a national firm that provides supply chain networking services to clients including Chrysler, Home Depot and Boeing, among others. The platform stores information on registered businesses and allows manufacturers to search for Indiana suppliers using categories such as capability, location, industry categories and women-or minority-owned certifications.

“Indiana Supplier INsight opens the door for Hoosier businesses,” said Steve Dwyer, president and chief executive officer of Conexus Indiana. “Manufacturers look at suppliers all over the country, often unaware of qualified firms right here in their own backyard. This initiative shines a light on Hoosier businesses.”

Other public sector partners, including the Indiana Secretary of State’s Office and Indiana Department of Administration, are also working to connect the state’s manufacturing companies with local suppliers through Indiana Supplier INsight.

Companies interested in taking part in Indiana Supplier INsight can contact Lisa Laughner, program director at Conexus Indiana, atllaughner@conexusindiana.com, or visit https://app.suppliergateway.com/conexus to sign up online.

Carmel, IN–The City of Carmel has been awarded the Excellence in GIS Award from the Indiana Geographic Information Council (IGIC). Carmel’s GIS Coordinator Terry Krueskamp and GIS Technician Dave McCoy accepted the award on behalf of the GIS Department at the Indiana Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Conference held in Bloomington, Indiana.

According to the IGIC, this award is an ongoing effort to recognize creative and practical applications of GIS in Indiana. This award recognizes unique efforts practiced by local communities to improve service for residents of the State of Indiana. It also shows community leaders the importance of investing in GIS and how results can be critical to communities.

Carmel’s award-winning project is called “City of Carmel: Urban Trails.” The primary goal of the Carmel Urban Trails project is to create a complete and spatially accurate GIS trails layer consisting of multi-use paths, sidewalks along major streets, crosswalks, on-street bike lanes, greenways, and unpaved trails in park areas. The complete and accurate trail data can then be used for many purposes including planning and management, mapping and condition assessment, routing and navigation, public information, emergency response and research.

“It is an honor for our GIS Team to be recognized by the IGIC,” said Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard. “The City of Carmel is committed to providing a variety of transportation alternatives as demonstrated by our designation as a bronze-level bicycle-friendly city. This GIS layer makes these options more accessible to citizens by making them available for viewing on the GIS maps on the city’s website.”

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN – March 1, 2010) – Kendall Inventory Service recently became a Member of the Hartman Inventory Group. Owner Kathleen Kendall Holton stated, “I looked for a turnkey package because I know the value of purchasing someone else’s processes. The Hartman’s have worked through the learning curve, created the system and have the procedures in place. By learning from them, I’ll be able to be in business very quickly. Their 5 years’ worth of knowledge and expertise are extremely valuable.”

Located in Indianapolis, Kendall Inventory Service will provide personal property inventories for homes and businesses. The National Insurance Industry reports that residential fires occur every 82 seconds in the U.S and a burglary occurs every 10 seconds. While an insurance policy will reimburse a home or business owner, it can be difficult if not impossible to remember every item that may have been lost. Policy holders who have a thoroughly documented inventory prior to the disaster receive faster results and greater financial settlements. In addition to disaster preparedness, Kendall Inventory Service will provide asset documentation for estate settlement, financial planning, divorce and prenuptial agreements, loss or damage in moving or storage and sale or dissolution of a business or partnership.

About Hartman Inventory Systems, LLC: The Hartman Inventory Systemsä is an all-inclusive turnkey product for starting and growing an inventory service business. Key components of the package are a manual, hands-on training, a logo design and website and a business/life coaching program. Continued mentoring and support from the owners, Mike and Cindy Hartman, are provided through scheduled monthly meetings.

Designated market areas are available throughout the United States and Canada.

(Carmel, IN)– Steve Lawson, CEO, of The Prospection Network, based in Carmel Indiana, announced a national expansion with the launch of The Prospection Network (www.prospectionnetwork.com), chapters in communities across the country. A membership driven, business development association, The Prospection Network helps professionals become more successful by economically providing the knowledge, tools and connections to grow their business.

The national expansion of The Prospection Network includes the launch of chapters in Florida, Nebraska, New Mexico, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and Washington.

The Prospection Network evolved as an outgrowth of Lawson’s referral training program which helped advisors, sales people and business owners generate a non-stop flow of prospects. Originally entitled STAR Teams, The Prospection Network formalizes a strategy built on developing relationships with business professionals in order to benefit from their knowledge and network. The program provides the outline to simplify the process and make it fun to develop profitable relationships.

“After teaching thousands of professionals across the country to grow their business, it is rewarding to see them utilize these strategies in their networking,” said Steve Lawson, CEO, of The Prospection Network. “Even more exciting is the success they achieve as they move from a cold-calling strategy to a referral-based business”

Launched in Indiana in January, the Prospection Network has gained momentum rapidly, with ten chapters across the nation, and more expected to launch in the coming months.

“The appeal of the program seems to be our ability to offer several membership levels to meet needs of individual members and chapters,” said Lawson. “ In addition to weekly face to face meetings, all membership packages include access to the Online Forum; Video Library, monthly e-Newsletter and the ability to participate in weekly teleconferences with me and other professional sales and marketing advisors across the state.”

The Basic Membership Package is $19/ month. The fees for the enhanced packages which include personal websites and other features range from $29/month to $99/month. To learn more about The Prospection Network and each membership package please visit www.prospectionnetwork.com.
