Heyya! all! It's me darkmeiser and im here again to tell my stories of adventures in uncharted waters online! :)

Well, first of all it's not easy to write a Hall of Text. And i must clearly explain what adventures I experienced. As much as possible i will try to elaborate it clearly and i will also include some screen shots..

Chapter I

*New hope, new adventures!*

December 11,2010

There was a time in my journey in life came to a point where I don't know what to do next. I was in Oslo at that time and suddenly all the things have stopped. All the courage and promise to a great adventures have vanished.

I saw myself sitting right beside the cute dog, near the Port Harbour in Oslo. After watching the sunrise with the wonderful scenery of the sea and the calm waves of it, the journeys i had with my friends suddenly cross my mind. As if one by one all of my adventures with them are flashing in the golden sky. The bad and good things that happened to me with my friends. The headache I got when haggling to the Market Keeper, the long and hard exams in the Academy, the first time when I was lost in a battle with the Barbary Pirates and sailing adventures with my friends. All of that memories have came back, as if it was telling me not to give up those precious things.

Then, the dog bark at me, his puppy eyes are sparkling like he was seeing what I see and he knows what was bothering me. We look at each other with our sparkling eyes, then shed of tears flowing on my pinkish skin. I now understand what this little dog wants to tell and he is giving me courage. His like saying, don't waste what you have already done and you must continue what you already started. No treasures can replace your adventures and it will always be in your heart and because of that I cried with my heart out. It would really be a big waste of effort if I just leave it all out like that.

So the little dog have open my eyes to the truth and suddenly the surroundings around me became much more brighter now. The color of the sea looks more pretty and bluish and everyone seems so happy.

And at that very moment, a big idea came up to me. I will continue my journey and continue explore many things around the world!

Even if great typhoons will come and wrecked my ship and hard quest will come up, I know that I have friends that will help me and also that little cute dog. They will all give me courage to continue what I have started.

After that I talk to the Port Guide and he ask me 'Set Sail?'...

and then here i go with my new chapter of adventures!

UWO Game crash solution

Since obt of the game until now I never had a problem with the game, except the error like "game failed to initialize" but all i have to do is to restart my computer or re-installing the whole file of the game and it will run smoothly again. Sometimes that error is cause by some new programs that i've installed in my pc.

There are some players who have already quit the game because they can't fix the problem they experience with the game. Some of them haven't experience the game in obt but after a server maintenance their pc will freeze and crash.

I'm not that good on technical problems with UWO but I hope this solution will help some of you there who had this kind of problem too. Thanks to this dude who posted what he did when his pc freeze while playing Uncharted Waters Online.

He pointed 2 things that has something to do with the game crash. Windows 7 and AVG.

It seems that GameGuard, the game’s anti-hack and cheat protection program, has some problems running with AVG. AVG, specially AVG 2011, sees it as a threat and blocks it from running and if GameGuard can’t run then the entire game won’t run either.

If you have this anti-virus installed in your computer it would be best to 1)uninstalled it, 2)change your AV, 3)disable your AVG and 4)add UWO to your AVG's exception list.

As for Windows 7, it seems that the game, Uncharted Waters Online, is not 100% compatible with the operating system. Running it on Windows 7 or even Windows Vista will cause instability which can lead to freezing or crashes.

This is what he did for the Win7, run the game in Windows XP Service Pack 3 compatibility mode.

Though not all of the problem experience by players can solve this solution, it still depends on the machine you are using and the programs installed on it. I'll try to update this article for some error-solution i can find in the official forums of the game. So for now, enjoy your adventures!

Capt's Logbook: Aides for Captains

As you progress through world, encountering the dangers at sea, making great discoveries, or becoming a trading power house, it isn’t a feat you should manage alone. Certainly you can travel with a Company or a Fleet, but also as you attain certain Milestones, you can hire Aides to assist you in your adventures. They can back you up in various roles, with their support skills, or just to keep you company as you travel. They can play a beneficial role in your travels as they develop their support skills you can focus your attention on building your own skills.

Once you reach level 20 in Adventure, Trade, or Maritime, you can hire your first Aide. Choosing one is of course a matter of what needs you have skill wise and which alternate ones you could use. Aides have different jobs so their skill development is based on their background, plus what role you place them in on your ship. The roles available for an Aide to fill are:
Chief Navigator
Lookout
Accountant
Store Keeper
Lieutenant
Ship’s Doctor.
These roles will provide a boost to your aide’s levelling in one or two categories from Adventure, Trade, or Maritime. Levelling up these will open the door to more skills and improve the usefulness of your aides.

You can hire up to 4 aides, however you can only bring 1 with you until you reach level 40 in a category. Then you will be able to bring 2 aides with you at a time, while the other two will remain waiting for you in your quarters. Aides are hired in the taverns of certain cities, these cities are: Seville, Lisbon, Venetia, Marseille, Amsterdam, London, Naples, Geneva, Tunis, Alexandria, Athens, Istanbul, Calicut, Portobello, Rio de janeiro, and Jakarta. You might want to shop around to find the right Aide for you as they each have unique skills, characteristics and a language skill(s).

Additionally, you can give your Aide(s) equipment which can boost their effectiveness and make them even further useful. I’ve found that giving them complementary equipment can offer even better opportunities to put their skills to full use as they develop. Having a couple of mates to travel and pitch in with essential skills has helped me seek better opportunities for growth, profit, and completing quests. While the initial cost of hiring an Aide is 100,000, and they have a daily wage, their eventual usefulness more than pays for the cost of brining them on board and investing in their growth. Every captain needs a solid crew to make the most of the opportunities found out in the world’s oceans. So get out there, find a good crew of aides to back you up and build your name, glory, and fame on the high seas.

The oceans of the world are vast, but even when there is no one on the horizon, we do not sail alone. There is a plethora of ways to communicate with other voyagers as we make our ways through the adventures, trials, and discoveries within the world. Look over them, there are many to be used and perhaps a few that would be good to have additionally. Taking a closer look is the theme of this entry, for even though we might spend our days at sea alone moving towards our own goals and achieving our own fame.

The primary method of communication is the chat, within which are several different modes. First of course is to simply speak or “Say”. This talks to those in the immediate vicinity to you and is a great way to communicate, greet, and start up conversations with other voyagers in your close proximity. It is commonly used in the taverns or when you’re standing/sailing close by someone else. While it’s not private, it is of course the first mode of the chat, which is standard with any game.

Next is the “Party” mode which when you’re in a Fleet with other players, working towards completing a quest or simply taking a journey together. Party mode allows players who are Fleeted together to chat, discuss plans of attack, compare notes, or simply enjoy each other’s company as they sail out into the unknown. It’s a great way to keep your team members current on plans and to build a tighter group as you travel and adventure together.

“Tells” are fairly simple and straight forward of course. They are straight whispers between voyagers, a secure way for one person to speak to another about anything they want. Following that is “Shout” which is really the opposite of “Tells” in that it will reach out to players within the area on a larger scale than normal “Say”. For instance if I have something of vital importance to say to the citizens of Venice whom are in town I can shout out to them and they will all see what I have to say. Mind you it’s very public and not really something to be used for casual conversation it is great ways to get the word out about something; or to look for more Fleet members and even recruit Company members.

This brings me to Company chat, which of course is for members of the same company to talk and discuss anything and everything related to life, the seas, and of course company business. This mode reaches all company members regardless of where in the world they might be at any given time. The last regular mode is “Chat Rooms” that you can create and invite other voyagers into for a lively discussion without the fuss of having to form a Fleet. It provides a secure way to have a private conversation with other players no matter where they happen to be and can be expanded or shrank as the room creator desires.

There is a special chat mode that is exclusive to new players and lasts until a certain point following finishing the school quests. This is the “School’ mode, which allows players from all nations to discuss and share their tips, discoveries or ask questions from other players who are further along in the game then they happen to be at that moment. It can only hold 200 people at any given time, but it’s a great forum for players regardless of nation to discuss anything that comes to mind as they move through the world and learn about the trials the oceans hold.

Missing from this, which I truly believe is something that would be very useful is a “Nation” mode which would allow voyagers to discuss and chat with all the other people within their nation. It would be great for times of war, help with taking over ports through investments and building on the new colonies available in the new world. Another addition that would be good to see is perhaps a “Jobs” mode that would allow people to join and discuss the finer points of being either in the Adventurer, Trade, or Battle jobs that are available in the game. This would be a good extension of the School channel for voyagers who might find themselves stuck on a problem and need to reach out to others whom might know the answer to their job or quest related questions.

A part of the chat system, though separate is the Friend’s list which allows you to build up a list of select other voyagers you regularly talk to, fleet with, or may one day form a company with. You invite players to your friends list and can use it to invite those same people to one of your chat rooms. You can also send mail via your friends list so that if one of your friends happens to be off on shore leave and not around to talk to, you can send them a letter for them to collect later.

All in all there are many ways to reach out and communicate with other voyagers, and allow you to build up good friendships through random encounters, Fleeting, Companies, or simply during the school phase of play. A few more options would always be handy and we can hope that they might one day be added, until then…

Deadly 11,500 year cycle

According to some geologists and scientists, we are in the middle of a deadly 11,500 year cycle when the ice age comes back. Aztec Calendar.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups have been taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups... And then you began eyeing each other's cups.

Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of life we live.

Alice: Madness Returns Trailer

EA have finally release the trailer for the upcoming game Alice: Madness Returns. Though this is my first seeing this game, I was kind of shocked to what have happened to Alice's character design. Seeing it for the first time, i said "...that's not Alice!". As I watch the game trailer, horror and excitement fills me. I want to try this game.

Alice is haunting by her parents memory as she turns her back a big tentacles grab and took her in the firey place.

Adventurer Major: Beginner Voyager

All the articles I'll post for now is all about Uncharted Waters Online. I'm not in a good mood to make any other article for this past few weeks. I'm starting to get irritated to people around me but heck they are not important to me.

Anyways, sorry for that rant.

Below is about the ‘Exam for completing beginner adventurer’ quest, which is the last lesson
in the beginner adventure class at in the Navigation School.

※ This quest is for adventurers only, so you will have this quest only when you have chosen
the Adventure Class.

In the ‘Exam for completing beginner adventurer’ quest, you’ll learn how to make discoveries,
and you must complete the quest by discovering marine creatures as requested.

There are a total of 7 stages in the quest, where you can collect information from 4 NPCs.
The quest will be completed when you discover marine creatures based on the information
you have obtained.

◈ Quest Strategy

Before you accept the ‘Exam for completing beginner adventurer’ quest, you’ll see a message
asking you whether you'll accept the quest even when you don’t have the skills necessary
to complete the quest as shown below.

Even if you don’t have required skills, you won’t have any problem completing the quest
because you’ll receive a Fishing Net, which is an item that can be used in place of the skills. :)

※ You can buy a Fishing Net at the Item Shop in the capital city if you have lost or used it.

It's easy to find a marine creature since you can learn the location of the marine creature simply
by starting a conversation with the NPC according to the progress of the quest.

Now, I’ll tell you how to find a marine creature.
In Quest Stage 4, go to the city that Scholar NPC tells you to go and start a conversation
with Port Official NPC to obtain information on the characteristics of the target marine creature
and the location of its habitat.

When it’s hard to pinpoint marine creatures in the sea, refer to the coordinates below to make it

Click [Surveying] in the skills list to check see coordinates.

In the bottom right corner of the screen, the green arrow will show your ship’s current location
as well as the coordinates.
※ The green arrow and coordinates change according to your ship’s location on a real-time basis.

Finally, move close to the marine creature habitat, click [Use Item] in the upper left corner of
the screen, and then use a [Fishing Net].

Find a seal and complete the quest.

You have learned how to do the ‘Exam for completing beginner adventurer’ quest.

UWO: Advance Training School Guide

Now that you have reached the last stages of the advanced class you will learn
how to make the most out of your career.

With no further a due let’s go through where the Advanced Voyager Training School is,
learn about its curriculum, and how to complete it successfully.

1. Where Advanced Voyager Training Schools are located!

Unlike Elementary and Intermediate courses, there is only one Advanced Voyager Training School in Pisa.
This is the only place you can receive advanced training.

Pisa is located in Western Europe.

2. Advanced Voyager Training School Curriculum!

The following contents can be learned at the Advanced Voyager Training School.

-Safe Waters, Danger Zones, Vs. Battles, Bounty, Tribute goods
-The aide’s designation, conditions and where to hire them, and important expert skills
-Special Shipbuilding and option skills
-How to fight in land battles
-How to get trade goods by collection, procurement, and fishing
-Discovery Cards and Debates
-What are special products and what they are good for
-Recipes that are tied to particular NPCs
-What and how to make investments, distances that allow it and its influence
-Different kinds of cannonballs depending on the cannon
-Melee battle (assault, guard, gunfire, and tactics)
-What is an epic sea feud, its influence, and how to take part in one
-Recap on all topics covered in the advanced course (10)
- Advanced course graduation exam

Now, take a look at the flow chart to see what sequence the classes will take place.

As you may have noticed from the flow chart,
above the advanced course will be round up by a graduation exam.
Once you pass, you will be qualified to graduate!

Graduation exams take place after the recap.
Remember, you must finish all ten recaps to take the final exam.

Let’s take a closer look at the recap quest.

When you request a recap quest you will see eight quests on the list.
Finish one quest at a time. Once you have successfully finished the quest ten times
you will pass the recap test.

The quest sequence is random. It may change every time you open the quest window.

Once you finish ten recap quests you will see a new item in the list, “Graduation Exam.”

3. Good to know information about Advanced Voyager Training School!

1. You can finish one recap quest ten times in order to be qualified for the graduate exam.

2. The recap quest can be completed any number of times before graduating the course. It can come in handy to earn extra experience points or for developing a skill.

3. If your skill rank does not meet the required conditions to take the graduation exam, share ranks through fleets or increase skill rank by using a booster. (Note: some skills ranks cannot be shared with fellow fleet members.)

4. Once you graduate from the Maritime Academy you can enter “school chatting” rooms.

Today’s class will be about Intermediate Voyager Training School.

The large range of jobs in UWO can be categorized into three parts; “adventure”, “trade”, and “battle”.
Each job categories each include a wide variety of jobs.

The Elementary Voyager Training School was about basic game configuration.
In Intermediate class you will learn what jobs are available to you for your first job transfer.
All your questions regarding job choice will be cleared once you’re done!

With no further a due let’s go through where the Intermediate Voyager Training School is,
learn about its curriculum, and how to complete it successfully.

1. Where are the Intermediate Voyager Training School

There is a school each situated in “Ceuta”, “Groningen”, and “Siracusa”. You can choose to attend school in whichever city you like.

“Ceuta” is located West of Europe.

“Groningen”, on the other hand, is located in Northern Europe.

“Siracusa” is placed in Eastern Europe.

2. Intermediate Voyager Training School Curriculum!

The following contents can be learned at the Intermediate Voyager Training School Curriculum.

- How to accept a request from the Mediator
- Natural disasters at sea and how to handle them
- Skills needed to make a discovery and how to improve them
- How to use trade skills
- How to produce items using materials

Intermediate course quests can be completed by simply initiating a conversation with
an NPC just the well as the beginner course.

But keep in mind the exam after each class can be a bit harder than you think.
The assignment given in each category is as follows.

from a multiple selection.

If you graduate Intermediate Voyager Training School you will be given a port permit that
allows you to stop over at any city in the Europe region.

1. There are times when the character’s level, certain skill ranks, or having a certain skill itself determine the outcome of the class. UWO has a wide spectrum of skills so take a look at the following information carefully.

The first job transfer can be arranged once you show the guild master your guild card..

But if this skill is your Favored/ Expert Skill you will be able to push the rank up to 15 to 16.

Things you don't know about "The Exorcist"

It is not surprising that The Exorcist has been voted the scariest horror movie of all time by Entertainment Weekly and Maxim. Just about anyone who has seen the movie can claim a 122-minute anxiety attack. When the theological thriller debuted in 1973 as an adaptation of William Peter Blatty’s best-selling novel, it brought the ancient concept of demonic possession to the modern world. When it was re-released in 2000 with the benefit of digital restoration, it reinforced its place in pop culture.

Strangely haunting events plagued the cast and crew throughout the production of the movie. However, most of these events were not documented, as they would be today, with state-of-the-art field equipment – as they do in the paranormal reality series Haunted Discoveries. These planned, and not so planned, happenings that surrounded the film further intensified its sense of realism and other worldliness.

Just how much do you know about one of the scariest movies of all time?

1. At least six people associated with The Exorcist died either during production or prior to the release of the movie.
Jack McGowan died of flu complications a little over a month before the movie’s release. McGowan portrayed Burke Dennings, the life of the party, who tells the prominent senator character, “There seems to be an alien pubic hair in my gin. Never seen it before in my life. Have you?” Dennings also dies in the movie at the hands of the possessed Regan.

Vasiliki Maliaros was 90 years old when she died of natural causes not long after she finished filming her role as Father Karras’ mother.

During production of the film, a night watchman for the set and the set refrigeration technician also passed away. Max Von Sydrow’s (Father Merrin) brother, as well as Linda Blair’s (Regan) grandfather also passed away while The Exorcist was being filmed.

2. An unexplained set fire delayed the discovery of the demon.
The original shooting schedule was to be 85 days, but the unexplained fire that destroyed the set delayed production. The last scenes were to be filmed in Iraq to portray the discovery of a small statue of the demon, Pazuzu. It actually took 224 days of American filming to get to the land where the movie’s story line began. The cause of the fire remains unknown to this day.

3. Ellen Burstyn (Chris MacNeil) refused to acknowledge the devil. She also suffered a permanent spinal injury during filming.
The actors that are seen spider crawling down the stairs, thrashing about in bed and being thrown about by demon possessed children were actually rigged to harnesses to achieve these disturbing physical feats. In the scene where Pazuzu-possessed Regan throws mom across the bedroom with superhuman strength, Ellen Burstyn, in reality, was being yanked hard by her harness. The outcome was a blood-curdling scream from Burstyn when she landed on her coccyx, resulting in a permanent spinal injury. It is interesting to note that Burstyn accepted the role only after producers agreed to eliminate her character’s scripted line, “I believe in the devil!”

4. Snow fell indoors, on the set.
Although explainable, it was quite disturbing for the cast and crew to arrive to the indoor set of the demon-inhabited bedroom and see it covered in a layer of freshly fallen snow.

In order to provide the effect of visible breath, the set was refrigerated and cooled by four air conditioners. Temperatures often plunged below freezing and on one occasion when the air was saturated with moisture, the crew arrived to a layer of snow covering the set.

5. A plea for help from Keating Hall was plainly visible to those who wished to see it.
Fordham University’s Bronx campus is the home to Keating Hall and the basement room in which the language lab scene was filmed. In this scene, where Father Karras discovers that Regan’s demon is speaking English in reverse, a white banner is visible above Keating Hall’s audio room window. “TASUKETE” screams from the banner with a bold exclamation in stark red letters. The Japanese to English translation is “HELP!”

6. A shadow of redemption attempted.
In the movie scene where technicians attempt to scan Regan’s brain, an eerie shadow of a cross passes over Linda Blair’s forehead just before the machine starts.

7. The devil gets his due.
Mercedes McCambridge was hired to portray the demon voice of Regan with the promise of prominent mention in the credits. When McCambridge attended the preview, she discovered that her name was left out of the credits. After weeks of grueling work which included regurgitating on a mixture of chewed, mushy apple and raw egg to produce the sound effect of Regan’s projectile vomiting, McCambridge was not acknowledged for her work. She eventually filed suit for the recognition and was later credited for her portrayal of the demon. She suffered much hardship and tragedy throughout the remainder of her life – including a murder/suicide where her son killed his wife and two daughters and then himself, leaving McCambridge with only a bitter suicide letter of resent from her son.

8. Serious forces of nature displayed themselves during the early showings of The Exorcist in Rome, Italy.
According to American Hollywood columnist, Joe Hyams, moviegoers in Rome entered the Metropolitan Theater while rained poured and lightning flashed. Soon after, a noise much louder than thunder could be heard. An eight foot long cross of a nearby sixteenth century church had been struck by lightning. The cross had sat atop that church for 400 years before it fell to the ground of the piazza after being struck.

9. The Number of the Beast figured into the final cut.
Popularly recognized as the Number of the Beast, there is no escaping guilt by association when dealing with the number 666. One has to wonder what possessed director, William Friedkin, to bring the completed project to 666 Fifth Avenue, New York for postproduction editing. One might also wonder if this is what caused evangelist Billy Graham to denounce the film with his claim that an actual demon lived in the celluloid reels of the movie.

10. The Government Accepts The Exorcist as Culturally Significant
As of 2010, The Exorcist claimed its place as an important piece of filmmaking history when the Library of Congress selected the film for preservation as part of its National Film Registry. Films selected for this designation “must be culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” Creepy on the big screen as well as behind the scenes, The Exorcist unleashed the spirit of a cultural phenomenon that will now be preserved until the end of time.

So you have created a character, but you have no idea where to start?

Navigators, I’ll introduce you to various ways to play Uncharted Waters Online so you can
have more fun playing the game.

For starters, I’ll tell you about the Navigation School.

At the Navigation School, you can obtain general information and control for basic game play
and applications in the Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced Navigation Courses on Adventure,
Trade, and Sailing according to your character’s job.

Attending the Navigation School is not a mandatory requirement, so you can choose to go
there or not. You can enter or leave the school anytime you want while playing the game.

In this chapter, you’ll learn how to enter the Beginner Navigation School and graduate from it.
Okay. Let’s get started, shall we?

1. Enter the Beginner Navigation School

After you have created a new character, you’ll first arrive at the guild in the capital city of
your character’s nation. Start a conversation with the Guildmaster to obtain the items you
need in your navigation.

After the conversation, your character will be automatically moved to the Navigation School
in the capital city of each country.

In order to take a course at the Navigation School, you must first go through the admission
process with the Receptionist, at which time you can choose a course of your choice
(Adventure, Trade, Sailing).
※ You can choose from [Adventure], [Trade], and [Sailing].

Admission

You'll receive a Regulation Cap and Uniform for entering the school, and you’ll also be able
to use the School Chat Channel and share information with other navigators.

2. Take the school course

In the course, you receive a quest from the Instructor NPC, complete it, and report back
to the Instructor NPC.
Quests at the Navigation School are categorized into common and vocational lessons.

In the case of quests given at the Beginner Navigation School, you can graduate from
the school when you complete a total of 16 courses including 7 common courses and
9 vocational courses.

From now on, you'll learn how to take a course at the Beginner Navigation School.
The courses are taught by an Instructor NPC if you have chosen a certain course at the
Receptionist, and you can learn from all the Instructor NPCs if you have chosen all
the courses.

Refer to the table below to find out who’s your Instructor NPC for the course of your choice.

Click your Instructor NPC to start a lesson, and then click [Contract] to see a list of

※ A school lesson is consisted of a series of quests, and you must complete them one
at a time.

You can check the quest in progress anytime you want by clicking the hotkey [Q]
or clicking [Journal] → [Quest] in the upper right corner of the game screen.

①. Obtained Info: The progress of the quest and the next stage. ②. Quest Complete!: A message that you can see only after completing a quest.

You can report the completion of a quest only to the Instructor who gave you the quest.
Click the Instructor, and a quest completion report will be automatically submitted without
having to do anything, after which you’ll receive a reward for completing the quest.

So far you have learned how to enter the Beginner Navigation School and learn lessons.
A school lesson is consisted of a series of quests, and you must complete them one at
a time.

See the flowchart below and find out the order of the lessons.

The final lesson at the Navigation School is a graduation test on each of the lessons.
You should be able to complete the lessons before your graduation since the quests
are not difficult.

However, the graduation test can be difficult for those of you who are not yet familiar with
the game.
So we have prepared a number of tactics for new players.

    school class.

⑧ You can acquire a Guild Card upon graduation which can be used to change jobs.

You can also use the Street Map if you’re having difficulty finding the location of an NPC
that's needed to complete a school quest. Click the NPC and your character will
automatically go to the NPC.

Greetings voyagers! I’m taking a respite from traveling the oceans to reminisce about some of the people I’ve met on my travels. You see within the world everyone has a story and on a grander scale, every nation has a story. Highlighted by various personalities that you interact with, it provides a diversion from the trials and tribulations found out in the wide world. Working for your nation is rewarding in many ways, and you can encounter some interesting situations as you interact with some of the prominent figures in your nation’s capital and beyond.

Many of these encounters cover a broad range of activities and will provide experience in various areas, from battle to exploring and so on. In my case, meeting with the nobles of Venice, I’ve gone on to explore and find a new discovery, I’ve battled the Turks, and I’ve traveled to Africa and beyond. There were times when my skills were tested, and times when it was simply running from place to place to find someone or deliver something.

These activities can be challenging or simply a nice diversion from the leveling to make a side trip to a distant port. The rewards however are worth taking the time to pursue them. Ranging from experience, fame, money, and even maps or recipes, the time put in eventually leads to the Imperial Quests as well as opening up the world to greater and grander adventures.

Even during the course of some of these adventures I’ve gained or heard of other voyagers gaining special nation specific clothing or items that enhance or add to the experience gained from completing the tasks placed upon them by the personalities they encounter. The break from completing guild quests, or traveling from port to port selling your trade items, even sinking all those dratted pirates make the effort well worth it, and the compensation even for the smallest of tasks can be very rewarding.

So get out there and explore not only the world by your nation’s capital, you might come across someone in need of your help that will lead you to experience something new and different in the course of your adventures. You can always track your progress, or figure out where you are go next by checking your adventure journal under “Events”. Even the greatest of explorers can be lost or go in the wrong direction and need some assistance in finding the next port of call. Overall all get out there and explore and discover what waits in the service of your nation, or to simply help a possible patron noble!

Ahoy, I’ve written quite a bit so far on my various voyages and the many things I’ve learned. I’ve tried my hand at various jobs, gone exploring for treasure, battled pirates, and engaged in trade. During my turn building ships and preparing to make for the New World, I’ve also dabbled in the diverse experience that is crafting. One of the more expansive systems to be involved in there are several avenues of getting your hands dirty and making items for your own benefit or for sale to others. Taking a cue from what I’ve seen other voyagers accomplish and my own experimenting, I found that crafting can be rewarding not only in building items I might otherwise have to search town after town for. Crafting is also a lucrative way to make some money while I’m in port on shore leave.

To begin with there are several forms of crafting, from simple food production to the making of weapons, clothing, cannons, figureheads, and of course general items. While in the beginning, the items might not be noteworthy or really profitable. With persistence and determination, you can achieve levels of skill to begin making some decent and eventually really good gear. Even at the start, making food might not be profitable, it certainly helps to keep your Vigour replenished so you can continue to craft and level your crafting skills.

Crafting is broken down into the following skills, each having their own required materials, trade goods, and recipes. They are Cooking, Storage, Sewing, Casting, Handicrafts, and Alchemy. Cooking as I mentioned is all about making food, which as your level grows and you gain more advanced recipes, the amount of Vigour restored by consuming the food increases. Cooking is pretty straight forward, as you gain the ingredients by purchasing them from various towns and obtain recipes you can really start making some quality food that is both useful but also profitable when sold compared to the pricing in the Taverns. Storage is somewhat related to this as it converts fish into storage food which is handy to have on hand. Storage also lowers the chances of having items stolen should you lose a battle or the loss of durability on inactive items in your inventory.

Sewing, of course is the production of clothing, ranging from the early hats, tops, bottoms, shoes and so on, but also sewing is useful with the right recipes to craft new sail equipment. Building the right sails which are then added to your ship can increase the speed and turning performance, again at a lower cost than buying them directly as the ship yard. You can eventually make special clothing or sail attachments that might night not otherwise find in stores through obtained levels and recipes.

Likewise, Casting is all about the crafting of weapons, such as swords, guns, throwing knives and so on. But also the crafting of cannons, which as you progress allows you to make better and better weapons and cannons, and for cannons, larger sets of one type or another. Really good Casters are always in demand as they might be producing weapons or cannons that are not readily available for some players, which can in turn generate some good money for the Casters. Casting also produces stern-castles and other combat related ship parts.

Handicrafts, is more of a utility type of crafting, creating things ranging from items like deck brushes, to figureheads for your ships, furniture for your residence, and as a Handicrafter grows, they can discover new and interesting avenues of creation, such as Gem cutting and more. There are several possible uses for a Handicrafter and while they may not overly profitable, there is still money to be made.

Lastly is Alchemy, which is a more complex type of crafting in which special and rare equipment is produced. While Alchemy is a lucrative skill to pursue, it is by no means an easy one and is not a beginning skill to be sought after as it is suited for higher level voyagers and not available until later levels of both skills and job category.

All in all there is much to be made and an enterprising crafter can find new and interesting items and gear to create, plan out routes to obtain the required items and always be on the look out for recipes that will bring in even bigger and better crafting options. I’ve found if I am going to actively pursue crafting I may continue to focus on casting or sewing as equipment will be much more important and expensive later on in levels.

Cooking Guide

Introduction
Cooking has always been on of my favourite crafting skills in UWO. On my old server i made hundreds of millions selling items such as Seafood Pizza and Garlic Chicken and the best thing about cooking is that there will always be a demand, regardless of where the server is at. Each guild requires a good cook or two, and if you are interested in pursuing this path here is a simple guide.

Recommended birth place
-Lisbon
-Amsterdam

Portuguese and Dutch players will have the easiest times starting out as chefs due to fact that their ports nearby stock up on all the items required for cooking, and being Portuguese or Dutch would allow them to buy extra ingredients at lower price.

With the introduction of the animal trader job, the food merchant is very much made redundant. The animal trader favours all the essential skills required for cooking, so when you are ready, change your job into an Animal Trader

Portuguese Cook
-Required Recipe Books
Easy Recipes (Palma, Bordeaux, Quest Reward --- the city's first Epicurean) 5000D
Livestock secrets - chapter of Pig (Porto) 8000D
Introduction to meat [optional] (Genoa) 10000D
Eastern Mediterranean Dishes (Fagumasta, Venice reward after 1,000,000D in investment)

Level 3 (Pig >>> Pork)
Purchase the Livestock secrets - chapter of Pig from Porto, buy Pigs from Faro market or players and butcher the Pigs into Pork. Sell the Pork to the market in Faro. You can purchase Pigs from travelling players for 200D each and still make a handy profit

Level 4 (Pig >>> Pork >>> Bacon
Using the Livestock secrets - chapter of Pig book, buy Pigs from Faro, butcher into Pork, turn Pork into Bacon, sell at the market.

Level 5 (Pig >>> Pork >>> Ham)
Using the Livestock secrets - chapter of Pig book, buy Pigs from Faro, butcher into Pork, turn Pork into Ham, sell at the market.

Level 5 - 7 (Pig >>> Pork >>> Ham)
Butcher Pigs at Faro, turn Pork into Ham, sell at the market.

Level 7 - 10 (Pig >>> Pork >>> Ham; Sheep >>> Lamb; Lamb + Butter + Salt >>> Roast Lamb)

Path A
Butcher Pigs at Faro into Ham until level 10. (takes roughly a day or two)

Path B
Sail to Genoa to purchase the Introduction to Meat recipe book, sail to Amsterdam for the Livestock secrets - chapter of Sheep book, and make Roast Lamb (more details in the Dutch Cook section)

Level 10 (Wheat >>> Flour; Flour + Fish + Cheese >>> Seafood Pizza)
CONGRATULATIONS, you have made an important milestone, now its time to make some serious money. Either, sail to Fagumasta in the Middle East, opposite Beirut, and invest 1 million Ducats for the Eastern Mediterranean Dishes or if you have a friend from Venice, kindly ask that player to invest 1 million in Venice for the book.

All the ingredients for Seafood Pizza can be purchased at Porto, therefore making Portrugese players the most fearsome chefs in game.
Buy, Wheat, Fish and Cheese at Porto, turn the Wheat into Flour and combine all three ingredients for 1 - 3 Pizzas.
Each Pizza in early game can sell up to 5000D

Level 10 - 15

Dutch Cook

-Required Recipe Books

Using the Livestock secrets - Book of Sheep, buy Sheep from , butcher the Goat into Lamb, turn Lamb into Sausage and sell back to the market.

Level 7 - 10 (Sheep >>> Lamb, Lamb + Butter + Salt >>> Roast Lamb)
Time for a trip into Genoa. if you any friends there you can ask them to bring back a book for Introduction to Meats which will allow you to make Roast Lamb in Den Helder.

Path A
Buy Sheep at Den Helder, turn 1/3 of the Goat into Milk, combine Milk and Salt to make Butter, Butcher the remaining Sheep into Lamb, and combine with Butter and more Salt to make Roast Lamb.
This option requires high levels in Seasoning trading to purchase enough Salt and is rather time consuming, but saves the trouble of leaving Den Helder

Path B
But Goat, butcher the Goat into Lamb, buy Salt, travel to London, and buy Butter, combine all three ingredients to make Roast Lamb . This option will allow you to trade between Den Helder and London and perhaps make even more profits.

The Roast Lamb can be sold to players or back to the Item Shop in bundles of 200.

Level 10 (Wheat >>> Flour; Flour + Fish + Cheese >>> Seafood Pizza or Cheese + Pork + Milk >>> Gratin with Cheese)

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You have become a true Dutch master of the culinary arts. Like your Portuguese counterparts, its time to make some serious money.
You can either sail to Porto and make Seafood Pizza provided you have the Eastern Mediterranean Recipe book, or stay in the Northern Sea and make the level 10 Gratin with Cheese.

For Gratin with Cheese, simply buy Goat from Den Helder, make Milk, combine Milk with Pork and Cheese (both available in Antwerp) and make Gratin with Cheese.

Another new update of Anjel's Captain Logbook, Builders of Ship. A must read for anyone out there who's interested in ship building.

First and foremost, preparing to enter the craft of Shipbuilding takes some work on your part. You need to build up some knowledge of ship repair before you can hope to start building even the simplest of vessels. You can achieve this in a variety of ways of course. For some they charge into battle, with cannons blazing and repair any damage done by scurvy pirates bent on sinking you. For others, they sail the seas in search of storms to ride their way through, repairing as they go. This can be effective in a degree however finding storms aren’t exactly the most pleasurable experience. For others, like myself, I chose to do the more humorous route and ram my ship into land repeatedly. Getting my crew and I drunk on rum at the local tavern made this a much more enjoyable experience and my crew found the whole thing rather funny, when they weren’t scared to death thinking we’d sink!

Happy New Year friends and companions, times change and while there is a time when you have to fight, and there are times when you can track through the wilds; there are also the need for money to fund your adventures and battles. For myself, I’ve found that if I want to really succeed on the seas I must learn art that is trade. There are many ways for an enterprising merchant to make real money plying the waters of the world. Buying and selling goods from port to port, keeping a keen eye on the markets to find the best deals and to know what’s selling high where and what isn’t worth purchasing until the market changes.

I have added another adventure diary from Anjel's Capt. Logbook on my weebly site. Here's some part of that entry.

December 26, 1494

While in my mind, adventuring is my main calling, like any loyal and passionate citizen of my nation, I do my part by partaking in the Maritime activities of my country. Pirates are everywhere on the open seas, along coastal waters and vibrant throughout the world. Traveling even for an experienced captain can be perilous for one never knows when they might strike and being prepared to protect yourself and your cargo is a requirement for any salty dog wishing to ply the oceans of the world.

The first and foremost skill I found to be useful to me was learning the art of Gunnery. Knowing and using one’s cannons in a capable and effective manner can be the meaning between survival and getting sunk and pillaged. I learned during my time at the Academy the various methods and types of shot available to me which lead to my choices of armaments. I enjoy using my distance cannons to manoeuvre around fighting off and sinking pirates, I also am well pleased using incendiary shot to light up my enemies and create chaos for them. Planning and executing my ships turns in combat allows me to place critical shots on my enemy’s bow and stern for even more effective damage, which is always pleasant.

Actually this one is not new coz it's been there a long time ago, it's just that i don't have time to put some article on it. Anyways, if anyone of you out there got time, please check my new blog.
