The marine plywood floor board is an optional accessory that we would highly recommend.  It is included in the ‘Pro Fishing’ package.

It allows you to stand and cast on a nice stable platform. It weighs roughly 5 lb. and is easy to install in only seconds…

After inflating the first air chamber, place the board in the boat, then inflate the second air chamber.

We tried the PackFish with and without the floor board and we definitely preferred it with.

We felt fairly stable standing with the floor board inserted and found that it added some extra rigidity to the boat.

Inflatable Seat

The inflatable seat that is included in each package is great.  When not inflated it fits easily into the backpack carry bag.

To inflate there is an air valve for the bottom seat portion and another air valve for the back.  With the foot pump it literally only takes a few seconds to inflate.

We found it to be very comfortable.  The back support is decent and it allows you to sit up a little higher for a better viewpoint.

There is a storage pouch at the back of the seat that is handy for storing things you need easy access to.

Fully enclosed heavy duty fabric floor

The fully enclosed zippered fabric floor is durable and easy to dry.

4 Carry Handles

There is one carry handle on each side of the boat as well as one on each end.

With the side handles it is easy to pick up and carry by yourself.

With the end handles you can carry it with a friend if anyone is out with you.

QuikClip Connections

On each side of the boat are two small velcro straps that allow you to secure the oars to each side so they are not flopping around.

The QuikClip connections are ideal to use when portaging.

Setup

Setup honestly could not be any easier.

The first time you setup you will want to carefully go through the instructions and follow step by step to get the valves attached and the oarlock attachments in place.

After the initial setup process you can expect to be fully setup each time in under 5 minutes.  It is truly that quick.

It took us roughly 3-4 minutes to inflate both air chambers with the foot pump and only a minute to inflate the seat and add that plus the floor board into the boat.

Portability & Versatility

The PackFish7 has no frames so it is very portable and easily stows away into a small space.

You can carry it to remote, hard to reach fishing spots.  You can store it on a larger boat and use it to get to fishing areas that a big boat cannot go.

You can transport it in the trunk of your vehicle, in your RV, on an airplane or even by bus! It can go anywhere.

It also handles quite well on different types of waterways but is best suited for calm water.

Backpack Carry Bag

The nylon backpack carry bag has one large zippered pocket that fits the PackFish and the inflatable seat.

There is an outside zippered pocket that fits the foot pump.

You could also add in the oars but they will stick out the top.

The adjustable shoulder straps make it easy to carry and we had no trouble carrying it to and from the water.

Quality

The Negative

There isn’t a lot to complain about with the PackFish.  If you are looking for the ultimate portable fishing vessel then this is a great option.

The space is utilized well and we found it to be very functional.

The only negatives we would point out are the fact that there is no motor attachment and there is not a lot of extra room for extras like a cooler.

However that being said you have to take this boat for what it is.  It was not meant for a motor and it is supposed to be ultra-portable meaning the size had to be kept small.

Therefore we feel that the space it does provide is quite excellent.  There is room to stretch out your legs and the side pockets allow you to store your tools.

Taking care of an inflatable pontoon boat is actually very easy.

Whether your boat has an aluminum frame or is frameless, there are a few simple steps you can take to make sure your boat stays strong and lasts a very long time.

Steps To Care For Your Boat

In order to maximize the strength and life of your pontoon boat, follow these few steps.

Use 303 Protectant Spray

Most boating stores will sell 303 Protectant Spray. By spraying the pontoons of your boat every once in awhile you will help protect the PVC material from breaking down over time from exposure to UV rays and the elements.

If your boat is frameless and completely made of PVC then spray the entire surface area. If your boat has an aluminum frame then simply spray the pontoon sides.

I use the 303 Protectant Spray on all my inflatable boats including pontoon boats, inflatable kayaks as well as inflatable stand up paddle boards.

It’s essentially like sunscreen for your boat and it will help the material to stay healthy and strong.

303 Protectant Spray costs very little and lasts quite awhile. Use it at least once or twice a season and the material of your boat will last much longer.

Cleaning Your Boat

Over time you may find your boat has dirt or grass stains on it.

Cleaning your boat is easy and will also help protect the material.

Scrubbing it down with some warm water with a natural mild soap will do the trick.

You can also get inflatable boat cleaner at most boating stores which works well too for removing dirt and grime.

If you are out in ocean salt water then you will need to hose off the entire boat with fresh water after each use.
Store Out Of The Elements

After use store your boat out of direct sunlight and away from direct exposure to the elements.

Dry it off first with a towel to stop any mold or mildew from growing if you are deflating your boat or storing it away for a longer period of time.

Then keep it stored in a dry and cool place.

Avoid Dragging Over Sharp Debris

Although this goes without saying for most boats whether inflatable or not, it is wise to avoid dragging it over gravel or sharp debris.

In my experience the majority of these boats are made quite tough and are able to withstand a fair amount of abuse.

However excessive dragging is going to result in some wear and tear over time.

Carrying the boat or pulling it on a wheeled cart to the water is going to help keep the material puncture-free and in good condition.

Check Air Pressure

If you leave your boat inflated in between using it then it will be important to check the air pressure before hitting the water again.

Over several days the air pressure will decrease a little and you may need to top it up.

Also it is important to be aware that air pressure can expand in extreme heat and decrease in extreme cold.

Therefore if out in very hot weather you may need to let a little pressure out over the course of several hours.

On the opposite end, if you are out in extreme colds then you may need to add a little air pressure at some point throughout the day.

The Sea Eagle Foldcat is a rugged, stable and extremely convenient two-person inflatable pontoon fishing boat.

It is unique from other inflatable pontoon boats on the market in that it has a folding frame. This is a very big deal because it not only saves a ton of time when setting up, it also makes it very easy to pack up and store away.

The other unique feature that makes it stand out is the full floor. Most pontoon boats have a frame in the middle but no floor.

This one has a full fabric floor that can be used for storing fishing supplies and also acts great as a safety net if anything should fall through the frame – as can often happen.

The Foldcat is extremely stable, very tough and with the many great accessories, totally suitable for just about any fishing trip.

The two comfortable swivel seats are raised up high enough to give you a great view. The back seat sits up slightly higher than the front so both people are in the best position for catching fish.

Important Features

1. Full Fabric Floor – In my opinion this is one of the best features of this boat.

A fabric floor may not seem like much but in reality it adds a huge amount of convenience and functionality to the Foldcat and something that you rarely see with pontoon boats.

Even though the floor is fabric it is strong enough to stand on so if you need to get up on your feet to either stretch your legs, cast your rod or get a stable stance to wheel in your latest catch, you can.

You may still choose to stand on the frame as it will be more solid and keep you a little higher up, but the point is that you can stand on the floor if you need to which is pretty cool.

The other advantage of the fabric floor is that it adds a nice protective barrier for anything that falls through the frame. You won’t be losing any important gear in the water, as the floor will catch anything that falls through.

The floor also allows you to store far more fishing tackle and gear than other pontoon boats.

This floor is truly a great feature.

2. Wide Pontoons – The two large 16” inflatable pontoons on the Foldcat are extremely buoyant.

They are spaced 4’ 6” apart, which means that this boat is incredibly stable. The stability of other hard hull boats simply cannot compare.

Stability is something you do not even have to give a second thought to. This boat will keep you level and secure.

3. Folding Frame – The patented folding frame is what sets the Foldcat apart and makes it extremely unique.

It is the only boat that uses this technology in the world. Basically it allows you to set the boat up in a fraction of the time that it would take to set up a regular pontoon boat.

The folding frame literally takes 5 minutes to put together. If you have any experience putting together a frame on any other pontoon boat, you will know how amazing that is.

An ordinary pontoon boat frame can truly take well over an hour to put together. Normally there are all kinds of nuts and bolts and parts that you have to deal with.

6. Two Carry Bags – For a decent sized boat, the Foldcat deflates and folds into 2 carry bags.

It can easily be transported in the trunk of your vehicle and taken anywhere.

7. Motormount – For the size of the Foldcat it is fairly light at only 75 lbs. Consequently it has very little drag and paddles nicely.

If you need to get further faster however, it works great with either an electric motor or a gas motor.

The motormount can take up to 3hp. It can reach speeds of up to 8 knots, which will greatly help with getting through tides and heavy winds.

8. Casting Bar The casting bar is available in three of the four package options. The casting bar adds a measure of safety and support while standing or boarding the Foldcat.

It is made of strong tubular aluminum and has a soft foam grip. The great thing about this casting bar is it requires no tools and folds down for easy transport.

There are two things I love about the Sea Eagle boats that keep me using them…

1. They always give you a lot for your money in the packages they offer – far more than most other companies in my experience.
2. AND the quality of their products are consistently excellent.

The Foldcat is no exception… It is built strong and will be able to stand a fair amount of abuse.

Their boats are rigorously tested for quality assurance. The hull material is 1100 Decitex reinforced with quadruple overlap seams.
