This outfit is made up of some old items that have been hanging unloved in my wardrobe for a while. I can't remember the last time I bought something new from a shop, as lately I've been more interested in picking up baby items than anything for myself - they're actually pretty expensive too! So I've been trying to wear old clothes in various combinations to make them a little more interesting again. As long as you've got an amazing pair of ankle boots on that's all that matters ;)

London is so beautiful in the spring/summer. Blossoms seem to be appearing on every corner these days, my iPhone is literally full of photos of them! I know people complain about the weather here, but trust me compared to Scotland (Glasgow in particular) where we used to live, it's really not that bad!!

Hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend. What are your plans? We're finally going to see The Great Gatsby! Also hoping to squeeze in a trip to Ikea to pick up some new plants and photo frames for my gorgeous Kelli Murray prints which arrived the other day - So excited to get them up on the wall.

Chia Seed Breakfast

Lately I've been trying to make sure I've been eating enough good quality nutritional meals so that our little one gets everything he/she needs to grow healthily. Last week I tried out some new recipes, one of them being this chia seed breakfast pot inspired by Madeline Shaw. It looks a little strange, but if you like rice pudding then you'll probably be a fan of this too (if not then at least you know you've just eaten something super good for you!) Chia seeds are rich in omega 3 fatty acids, fibre, antioxidants and minerals such as calcium. These are surprisingly easy to make too!

To make one pot you'll need:

2 1/2 Tbsp Chia Seeds

1/4 cup Coconut Water (depends on size of bowl but I'd say you only need a splash of coconut water!)

1/4 cup Almond Milk

1 tsp Vanilla Extract

1 tsp Honey

A pinch of All Spice

Add all the ingredients together and mix thoroughly until combined. Cover with cling film and leave in the fridge over night (they need to be in there for at least 6 hours). In the morning serve with your favourite toppings! I went for strawberries and blueberries but you could also add some grated nuts for a little extra texture.

Sorry for the picture heavy post (then again when are they not on this blog!!) On Saturday we took a wander through Chelsea and passed plenty of lovely shops, street markets and pastel coloured houses. I wasn't sure it would live up to the hype (all those fancy camera angles in Made In Chelsea) but it's really beautiful there.

It wasn't the warmest of days so I chose to keep it simple in an oversized blouse and cardi. I love these Steve Madden sandals from Sarenza, I think they might be the summer shoes for me. They just look like they'd go with any outfit and I love the chunky gold detail. New favourites for sure ;)

Lastly, what's a blog post without a food snap or two? After seeing pics of these insane pancakes over on Olivia's blog I knew we'd need to pay My Old Dutch a visit. I'm glad we'd had a small lunch as they were huge, but soo good! How did you spend your weekend?

Here's a few pics of an outfit I wore at the weekend. I couldn't resist buying this Vero Moda tunic from a little store in Brighton. It was on sale too! I love the shape and aztec detail on the shoulders. I can see myself wearing it a lot in the upcoming summer months, especially as my bump gets bigger. I added the belt to give it some extra definition! Also chose to wear my favourite leopard flats, I love mix matching prints! But where's the sunshine gone? Looking at these photos it's hard to believe it was that lovely only a couple of days ago. Hope you're all having a great week! I've been listening to the new Daft Punk song repeatedly, what do you think of it?

What do the Spring 2013 catwalks have to offer the world of fashion? While there are several trends that are clearly only good for the catwalk (i.e head to toe stripes), there were two trends that particularly grabbed our attention.

Natutical: Nautical stripes and navy blue and white seem to be gracing the catwalks again, as they have done for many seasons now - it seems this is a fashion that will be staying with us for a while, which is fabulous, as it means we can keep building our wardrobes without fear that it will fall out of fashion next season.

Sporty Dresses: By a sporty dress, we mean something that generally has a practical neckline, a flattering stomach cut and a flexible and light skirt. They are fairly simple and look great casual or smart! You only need to team them with patent heels and some sparkly jewellery and you have the perfect evening outfit.

With this in mind we managed to find an absolute diamond, a dress which fulfils both of these fashions. The Cromer Dress in Navy/White (dress 1 in the pic above) has the nautical colours and the nautical style of neckline, but also has a sporty feeling. It reminds us specifically of a vintage style tennis dress, picture the classic wimbledon games of the 70's. The shape is perfect for all shapes because of the pleating (pleating is a great way to emphasise and create curves that you don't have or hide any lumps and bumps that you might have). The white pleating also adds a lovely lightness to the dress, whilst the navy blue top half has a wonderful slimming effect, which we all want! So what do you think of these trends? Will you be embracing them this summer?

On a whim Olly and I decided we should take a drive to Brighton as it's somewhere we've both always wanted to visit. When we arrived the first thing we did was grab a late lunch as our drive took a lot longer than expected leaving us both starving (thanks for that google maps!) One good thing about Brighton is there is no shortage of cafes. On our way down to the pier we must have passed around a hundred of them and each one looked amazing! To my delight there was also several frozen yoghurt bars (a new thing of mine).

Our walk down to the beach ended up being one of my favourite parts of the day as it gave us a chance to soak in the town and check out all of the indie boutiques a long the way. Despite the wind the pier itself was flooded with people so it took us a while to reach the end of it. I was a little disappointed that we couldn't go on any of the rides however, I soon found one that was pregnancy friendly! All in all we had such a great day out and we'll definitely be visiting again soon. If you haven't been to Brighton before, then I would totally recommend it!

I promise I won't go overboard on the baby posting, but who doesn't like looking at gorgeous nurseries?? At the moment our spare room also acts as our 'guest room' 'office' & 'storage space' room. Trust me it's not that big, it just turns into whatever we need it to be. But now it will officially be the nursery and that alone! Providing we're still living in our current flat when the baby comes. Whichever home we're in though the baby's room probably won't be very big, which I personally like the idea of as it keeps it nice and cosy. Plus it's more cost effective as you can't go mad!! So easily done when it comes to baby shopping. I've not bought anything for our nursery yet as I feel it's still a little early, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with an animal theme inspired by these cute prints by Sharon Montrose. We'll see where it goes from there over the next couple of months...

We're having a baby!

Some of you might have spotted the bump in my last outfit post, but I'm finally ready to share on here that we're expecting our first little one in early September. It was quite a surprise, but we're so excited to embark on this new journey. I thought it best to keep the news quiet until we were safely into the second trimester because, as many mummies know, the first few weeks can be full of uncertainties. But our ultrasounds have all shown that our wriggly little bean is doing great! I'm currently 22 weeks, approx 5 1/2 months, along and have passed the half way mark. I don't want to bore you all with too many pregnancy posts, so for those interested I've been keeping a casual baby blog over on Tumblr. If any of you follow any nice family blogs or know of some cute baby websites please do share! I love adding them to my bookmarks bar. It's all still very new and exciting :)

Selfridges Mad Hatter's Afternoon Tea

Last week I attended an amazing Mad Hatter's Afternoon Tea event hosted by Selfridges at the Sanderson Hotel in Soho. The food was incredible with an array of rainbow sandwiches, scones and cakes to choose from. The tea lover in me was slightly giddy over their unusual selection of loose leaf teas, in the end I went for the Strawberries and Cream brew. Amazing! It was lovely catching up with the ever stylish Lauren from Style Savage, the Selfridges girls and getting the chance to meet some new faces too. It was the perfect way to spend a Friday afternoon, thanks so much for having me Selfridges.

My Wedding Planning Experience...

I'm embarrassed to admit that I always used to wonder why people's engagements lasted so long. I mean why wait a year or longer to get married? It never really made sense to me... until I was planning my own wedding in under three months!! Suddenly it all became clear. So here's a small insight into how I went about organising our dream wedding in a short time. It can be done... (though an extra month or two would have been nice.)

1. Choose a meaningful venue and set the date...

When planning a wedding in a short space of time it helps to know what you want. We already knew we wanted to have an intimate wedding abroad and after a few chats with my husband we decided on the island Koh Samui, which is part of Thailand. We then e-mailed our families to discuss what week would suit everyone's schedules best. Setting a date early on immediately gave us something clear to work towards.

Next up was contacting hotels in the area about rooms and their wedding packages. Luckily my top 3 all got back to me relatively quickly and were very helpful at answering my questions. However, I found the hardest issue was not booking the wedding day itself, but being able to get accommodation for our party during peak season. In the end it turned out to be simpler to go with the bigger resort on my list, as they had the facilities to handle everything we needed, from personal villas to my very own wedding planner who was fantastic.

2. The dress...

Finding the perfect dress can be even trickier when planning a wedding in a short time, as some dress stores require 6 months plus for their dress orders. However, depending on the store and designer this can change. My experience was that 3 out of the 4 wedding boutiques I contacted were super helpful and reassured me that it can be done, but not every dress they stocked might be available in the time limit. (You can also inquire if they have any samples on sale, which you're able to take away with you on the day for a reduced rate.)

Trying on dresses is an amazing experience. I tried a wide range of styles even though I had an idea of what I wanted in my head already. I found that some dresses that looked gorgeous on the hanger didn't look very nice on, where as others that I wouldn't have picked out personally ended up looking lovely. I kept in mind each dress I tried... but none felt like 'the one' until I stepped into one at Rachel Scott Couture in Edinburgh.

From the moment I spoke to Rachel on the phone I instantly clicked with her and couldn't wait to visit her boutique on Dundas Street. What struck me when we arrived was how original it was, full of character and the dresses neatly organised by designer. I only tried on two dresses there and knew right away that the first one was 'my dress'. A stunning Sassi Holford design, which had the right amount of everything - from its exquisite lace detail to its gorgeous train. It was a wow moment, and the next morning we called Rachel saying YES!

I knew I'd like to customise my dress in some way to make it feel like mine so Rachel put me in contact with Mette from Freja, who made me a stunning sequin belt with 3 roses at the clasp. She also took care of my alterations and I had 3 appointments over one week to get the dress fitting exactly right.

3. Bridesmaid's dresses, groom and best man...

With a beach wedding you want everyone to be natural and comfortable. Fortunately a couple of my friends have had beach weddings so I was able to look at their gorgeous photos for inspiration and share them with our families. Alternatively, you could make a board on Pinterest and share it with your guests to help give them an idea of the look and feel you're after.

Bridesmaid dresses were the next exciting buy on the list. I discussed with my beautiful sisters what styles of dresses they liked best and we all agreed on long strapless ones. We looked on various websites and eventually found the perfect dresses from Coast, which were a gorgeous duck egg blue. (One of my favourite colours.) To coordinate we all wore matching bracelets from a small jewellery shop in Singapore.

Dressing the men for a beach wedding was slightly harder as you'd be surprised by the lack of light coloured suits available in the UK. Mr Porter ended up having the best selection. Both Olly and his best man bought the same suits, with different ties/boots to differentiate. They looked so smart!

4. Photographer & Videographer...

Your wedding photos are probably the most important photos you'll ever have, so getting the right photographer that reflects your style and personality is essential. My wedding planner suggested a few photographers and videographers that the hotel recommended however, none of them really spoke to me. Not wanting to rush our decision I kept looking and luckily through a recommendation of a friend, I was put in touch with Pui & Stefan, whose work I immediately loved. They captured our day beautifully, with the right balance of fun, romantic and sentimental.

Not everybody chooses to have a photographer and a videographer, but having a wedding video to me seemed equally important. I did a lot of researching to find our videographer and it ended up being luck that he was able to shoot our wedding, as he wasn't based on our island. Our wedding video is still in the editing process (I'm so excited to receive it) but we had fun working with the video team on the day itself. They were so discreet and just blended into our ceremony. We can't wait to see the final results!

5. Theme and flowers...

I was lucky to have help with this from my wedding planner, who was brilliant at seeing my ideas and requests through. I honestly wouldn't have known where to start! I explained to her that we wanted our wedding to have a private and intimate feel, a once in a lifetime moment. I felt the location spoke for itself with the beautiful white sand and turquoise sea, so we agreed upon a soft 'white theme' so as not to detract from the setting. One of my favourite touches was the flowing white netting at our bamboo alter...

Flowers are yet another important aspect to get right, I literally spent hours on Pinterest and blogs browsing different assortments! But having decided on a white theme it seemed roses & orchids would be the most classic and tasteful option for our wedding. We had them hanging from the trees, along the aisle and at the alter. This carried on into the evening, with several floral centrepieces set amongst fairy lights on the table. We chose a mixture of other Thai and Western touches throughout the day, including a thai banquet meal for the dinner along with complimentary thai music, and a western vanilla cake. Perfect for the infamous cake in face moment...

Something a little different on my blog today, a Mr & Mrs outfit post! I love that we've finally got some summery weather. I've been waiting for the right moment to break out this blazer again, I bought it last summer whilst I was out in Singapore. I love the vibrant green colour, which is a bit different for me. I've also been wearing these Ash wedges constantly, they're so comfy and add a fun edge to an outfit. Olly's also a trainer fan and currently likes this pair from Pepe.

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend. Ours flew by, but yay for the bank holiday coming up! I've got some exciting posts planned for next week too, including a wedding planning feature, photos from the Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea Event hosted by Selfridges, plus a few fun pictures from my recent visit to The Natural History Museum (worth going to if you find yourself with a free day in London). The Natural History Museum

Happy weekend! I'm cheating slightly and sharing photos from last weekend, when we went to visit the Natural History Museum. We spent a good few hours checking out all the different sections, some more carefully than others (I mean how many sandstone rocks are there?!) The highlight was easily the dinosaurs! Being able to see these life size fossils was pretty special.

Afterwards we headed to Soho for an early dinner at Burger & Lobster, which was so good! If you're ever in the London area I highly recommend trying it. Olly went for grilled lobster and our waiter persuaded me to order the lobster roll, which did not disappoint.

Pinterest Event

Last night I attended the Pinterest Event in central London where they were launching #pinitforwarduk. It was such a brilliant evening filled with cocktails, mini finger foods, sweet carts, diy shot glasses (check out Livvy's moustache one), cake pops and a video booth (where we talked about food, a lot!) I managed to have a quick chat with some of the Pinterest team, who had flown all the way over from San Francisco. They all shared how excited they were to be officially launching in the UK and trying to tailor more UK content for us. One of the co-founders, Evan Sharp, also made a brief speech sharing a bit about how Pinterest first started and how quickly it's grown in the last three years. It was so nice meeting these three lovely ladies too, Livvy, Charlotte and Emma who all have great blogs! We had such a fun evening, thanks for having us Pinterest!!

Gallery Wall

Since getting back from Thailand I've been excited to get started on some new DIY projects. One thing I'm really interested in at the moment is Gallery Walls! I love the idea of dedicating some wall space to share prints, photos, quotes and other personal mementos. It's inspired me to create one of our own! Below are some of the prints I'm considering:

Chalkboard Home Name Print - I love this print found via Not On The Highstreet. They let you personalise it so that it has your own family name on it <3

Koh Samui Heart Print - Definitely buying this one! A perfect memento from our wedding.

Mother's Love Print by Kelli Murray - I'm a huge fan of Kelli's artwork and blog. This print in particular is beautiful. (The girl in the illustration comes as a brunette or blonde.)

Dogs by J Camilleri via Urban Outfitters - My hubby and I are very doggy people, we literally 'aww' at every dog we see on the street. We love this funny print, but wish it had a sausage dog!

A Glimpse of Our Wedding Day

Thai Beef Salad Recipe

So keeping in theme with my recent Thailand blog posts I thought it would be fun to share this delicious Thai Beef Salad recipe that my husband and I adore. It's so simple to make, healthy and perfect for summer.

Ingredients:

Beef fillet (marinaded in oil, soy and garlic first)

Lettuce

A bunch of cherry tomatoes

1/2 cucumber

Aubergine, chopped into cubes and fried (optional)

2 red chillies, finely chopped

A few spring onions finely chopped

1/2 cup fresh mint leaves "

1/2 cup coriander leaves "

1 tbsp slightly crushed roasted peanuts

Egg Noodles if you're extra hungry ;)

Dressing:

2 tbsp lime juice

1 tbsp fish sauce

2tbsp light soy sauce
2 tsp sugar

Preparation:

1. Marinade fillets for a couple of hours or more

2. Chop all of the salad ingredients and combine into a large bowl

3. Fry beef until cooked to how you like it, we prefer ours medium rare

(If you're having noodles cook these now too)

4. Add your beef to the salad and pour over dressing

(Add your noodles onto plates or into a separate bowl for people to help themselves)

5. Serve with a drink of your choice... I like sparkling water with a slice of leftover cucumber & mint

Thailand Photo Diary Part 2

Here's the second batch of photos from our Thailand trip <3 On our fifth day we took a late afternoon boat trip to watch the sunset and catch a look at Koh Phangan, which is famous for its full moon parties. We then headed into town to check out the Fisherman's Village Night Market and grab some dinner from a casual restaurant we found on Tripadvisor. Looking back I wish I'd picked up a couple of those soaps above to take back home! They smelt amazing.

So... I might have kept a small secret from you all about the main reason we were in Koh Samui this Easter! A few months ago (before we were officially engaged) Olly and I talked about getting married abroad. We've both always wanted an intimate wedding in a stunning location, but had never thought seriously about it until recently. Thailand has always had a special place in my heart and after lots of researching and e-maling we decided it would be the perfect place for us to get married. Luckily both of our families were immediately on board with the plan, so it was really just a case of finding a time when we were all free. I'm not going to lie, planning a wedding in three months wasn't easy!! Looking back I can't believe our big day/week turned out as perfect as it did. It was everything we had hoped for and more.

It's so nice to finally have this out in the open on my blog and announce I'm now a MRS! Ah! Though a few of you guessed already ;) We're still waiting to be sent our wedding photos from our wonderful photographer and I'll no doubt share a few of them on here when we get them. I also have a couple of 'wedding themed' posts planned for those interested in the whole planning process. So keep an eye out for those soon.

Thailand Photo Diary Part 1

Oh Thailand how I miss you so much already! Over the Easter break we visited Koh Samui, a small island around an hours flight from Bangkok. Having grown up in Asia my family and I have been lucky enough to visit Thailand a few times before since it was so near by, but this trip was extra special for lots of reasons ;) We managed to cram a lot into our week's stay, mixing relaxing by the pool with the odd sightseeing, boating and of course loads of eating!! (I'll share some of the restaurants we went to as they're seriously worth checking out if you happen to be in Koh Samui in the future. YUM.)

These pics show parts of our lovely hotel and also Namuang Park, where we got to see some elephants and the gorgeous waterfalls - Though my little brother's favourite part was easily riding on the top of the massive truck! Naturally most of us weren't dressed for the trekking part of this excursion, but our flips flops did surprisingly well. There seemed to be a few other attractions there too including a huge flying fox, but we decided to head back to the hotel soon after our walk to escape the mosquitos.

Sunday's Outfit

Here's a couple pics of what I wore yesterday to Westfield where we went to pick up some last minute holiday bits. I love this Topshop dress, I don't usually wear this baby blue colour but I thought the print was really cute. I also added my favourite jacket and hat to try make it more suitable for the wet/cold weather.

I hope you've all been having a great Easter break and have been busy baking lots of yummy things. I mentioned on Twitter last night that we're really missing Bailey, our little Easter bunny, this year. Unfortunately we couldn't bring him down to London with us so he was carefully re-homed to a new loving family last summer. We still miss him loads though.

So instead of our usual Easter Sunday with our bunny, we spent it celebrating Olly's birthday and packing for Thailand! We're only away for a week so I've had to be pretty strict on not over-packing, which I always do. I've also been looking into new 'hand luggage' options for the long haul flight - I usually just take my handbag, but I always find that I never end up using it for the rest of the holiday. So for Thailand I thought that going back to the classic bags from Kipling Bags might be a good solution, which I found on Collectables. They're all very flight friendly, plus you can use them out and about too... handy for elephant trekking and whatnot ;)

So apologies if things are a little quiet on my blog this week! I'll try sneak in an update or two if I can get free wifi on my phone. I'm also on Instagram, which I'll no doubt be using too. Back soooon!

Weekend Photo Diary

This weekend we decided to pop up to Edinburgh to visit my fiance's family and go over some of the wedding preparations. Since our chosen date isn't too far away we've had a lot to organise fairly quickly. Despite the freezing weather we also managed to take some engagement photos, which we're so pleased with. I can't wait to share a few of them on here! We also snuck in a trip to the cinema to see Side Effects as well as a visit to Urban Angel, one of our favourite restaurants. It was such a lovely, relaxed few days. How did you spend your weekend?

Mini Bedroom Tour

If you've been following my blog for a while, you'll know that last summer my fiance (still feels crazy typing that) and I moved from our flat in Glasgow, where we went to Uni, down to London. Due to time pressures and to make life simpler we moved into a flat that was fully furnished. It's nicely decorated, but I can't wait for the day that we're able to kit out our home with our own furniture. So whilst we save save save for the future, I thought I'd share a few pics of our current bedroom as it's looking pretty summery at the moment.

One of the first things we bought when we arrived in London was a new duvet and some cheery Cath Kidston sheets. When I worked at CK Provence Rose was my favourite print, but Olly's been complaining that it's too girly for him so I've begrudgingly agreed to get some more 'boy appropriate' bedding. John Lewis always has a great range of duvet covers, so we might be making a trip there soon. On the other hand he loves the pug pillow that I picked up from Primark for £4! The little lanterns are from Singapore, which I bought in an amazing little store called Typo.

My absolute favourite bedroom item though is our angel wing mirrors from Graham & Green. We bought these when we first moved into our flat in Glasgow. They're so gorgeous and different, I wish we could afford everything from that site. Also thought I'd share a little peek inside my wardrobe, which I've been trying to de-clutter of winter jumpers and jackets.

I might share some pics of our office/spare room next, which we've given a mini Ikea makeover since we arrived ;) How about you? Are you interested in interiors?

Jumper & Hat - Topshop, Leggings - Primark, Boots - Carvela c/o Sarenza.co.uk, Necklace - H&M

Hello! Here's a few pics of what I wore today. The weather couldn't make it's mind up but luckily we managed to take some photos in the short few minutes of sunshine. I picked up this jumper a couple of days ago when I paid a visit to Topshop on Oxford Street. I have too many oversized jumpers like this but I loved the colour and the fact it's long enough to wear over leggings.

There's been a lot of talk on twitter about Google Reader closing down. I'm really gutted about this as I follow so many blogs through it, but I'm going to import them all over to my Bloglovin' feed tonight.
