Update on Beware of Worldpaypal.net! E-payment Fraudsters?

Some time ago, I reportedly told us about my ugly experience with the above mentioned e-payment company www.worldpaypal.net owned by a Nigerian ¡°Firmswitch¡±. Well, a lot had happened in the past few months as I equally told us I did reported the said company to Consumer Protection Agency of Nigeria, and true to their words of assurance I could authoritatively tell us that the above defaulting company was floored to honor my debit card payment which exorbitantly was sold to me and never supplied to me after several appeals and amicable personal efforts by me.

However after a month of my reporting them to Consumer Protection Agency of Nigeria (CPC), I could say I finally got my electronic equivalent of my money now in my custody for use. In fact on the 8^th of March 21, 2008 at about 06:42 pm I received a text message from their London bank bearing the number +44778148400 informing me of the availability of my card. The message is as below;

Dear kartel,

Your card is ready and available to use; card # is ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡expiration date12/20009. Online admin-worldpaypal.net

I give kudos to CPC www.cpcnigeria.com, for that feat! To everyone who stood by me in this fight against victimization of consumers nationally and internationally. To the spirit of victimized good consumers: fighting the same cause as with me in its various forms, I duff off my cap. I can rightly say that I went through the right due process!

Sir, for close to three years now, I have maintained a Business account with the above mentioned company via their e-payment website www.worldpaypal.net. During the said period and the course of running this account, I had so far committed the total sum of N= 48,520.00 (Forty Eighth thousand, five hundred and twenty naira only), which was paid into their account in three installments of:

First: N= 29,400.00 (Twenty nine thousand, four hundred naira only) being a total amount for a $200 (U.S dollar) worth of their voucher card at N= 147 PER $1, which took them a two weeks period to confirm and send to me online via their online chat support system and a four-hour frustrating daily efforts on my part to get them to send it to me.

Second: N= 10,300.00 (Eight thousand, three hundred naira only) being a total amount for a $70 (U.S dollar) of their voucher card at N= 147 per $1, undergoing the same frustrating experience as stated above in the first. Paid on the 30^th July 2007.

Third: N= 8820.00 (Eight thousand eight hundred and twenty naira only) meant for a $60 (U.S dollar) of their voucher card at N147 per $1. Same as above with experience, and paid on the 5^th of December 2007.

At a point Sir, I had wanted to discontinue with the account after the harrowing experience when I deposited my first initial payment as stated above, but I forced to back out the plan when it occurred to me that they wouldn’t agree to that effect after several pleas, the reason on their part being their “TERMS OF AGREEMENT” I had agreed to when creating the account. So I had decided to forge ahead with the intention of at least ordering my first debit through them.

The intent of running and maintaining this Business account as already stated above was to enable me order for a $200 (U.S dollar) worth of debit card which they as at that time presumably the first and only company running such service to the best of my knowledge until the others came on board with a better, prompt and cheaper service delivery. They had claimed of providing such services within 5 working days, as soon as the conditions of the services were met. However, to my greatest chagrin, I was to discover that I had fallen into the hands of “CON MEN” offering unavailable services with the intent of defrauding their victims their hard earned money and equally sitting proudly tight on it without any foreseeable sign of either repaying the said amount or delivering on the paid service which I did on the 8^th of December 2007, a transaction for which I was charged a 35% commission of the $200 (U.S dollar) which amounts to $70 (U.S dollar).

Even though they told me that it would be due on the 17^th of January 2008, I‘ve lost the total confidence in them to believe whatever they have to tell me because that was the second time the did told such and it never materialize i.e I was told to wait patiently for another 7 days to cumulate on the 22^nd of Decembers by their staff behind their online chat system. Even as at yesterday and today, I’ve tried their number and the online chat room meeting positive “dead silence” in return, they simple had began to ignore me.

Till date, I’ve exhaustred all resources and energy in my honest bid to see an amicable resolution to the abnormally but I have seen that they are an unrepentant and hardened gang of criminals posing as a business e-payment outfit, with frivolous excuse that my MasterCard debit card order was as they put it “undergoing due process” whatever they meant by that. Its obvious to me as I heard around me that it is a new “419” term invoked by “Yahoo-Yahoo Boys.” What a shame that cooperate body as they claim could be using such terms, no wonder their services is nothing to write home about. For about a month and a week now, I have written to their support@worldpaypal.net and through their frustrating so-called 24/7 online chat system worldpayaplnet@yahoo.com without any tangible, concrete, and positive response.

I hereby, has no option than to petition to you Sir on this case because as it is now its gone beyond my self effort to resolve it. I demand for compensation from for not delivering on my paid service thereby withholding my funds without interest and for no legal reason for all these while denying me the opportunity of utilizing the said funds for discounted online business transactions/services which I had intended cashing in during the yuletides of December 2007.

Secondly too, for the unquantifiable losses I had incurred emotionally, financially, and otherwise in my self-efforts contacting them towards an amicable solution of the raised matter in contention. I would prefer to you Sir to use your good office to compel them have my Business accounts with them closed without further delays, and all my paid funds utilized and service not provided/honored and unutilized funds returned to me, totaling N= 48,520.00 (Forty Eighth thousand, five hundred and twenty naira only) about $330 (U.S dollar) equivalent.

Attached herewith, are all the scanned documents of the payments slips excerpt the N= 29, 400 which I couldn’t provide as at now due to misplacements as it had been close to or over a year when I did deposited the said amount. However, there’s no doubt and I believe that all my payment transactions with them are in the database of the afore mentioned bank where they currently holds an account, GUARANTY TRUST BANK (GTB) for prove and confirmation. More there was no way I could have successfully ordered for a $200 debit card without having or meeting their financial obligations for doing that.

It’s quite obvious that the word Christmas is an acronym to big festivity, an annual merry making event that the verse mass of Christendom look forward to every year ending. To quite a good number of persons, it’s a big treat and a time of warmness and expression of love. To equally a good number of persons it is nothing but a big religious event to mark the celebration of “an all important event that marked our common era- the birth of the savior, Jesus Christ.”

However, for some time now, there had been an equally increasing number of people with differing views as to what and how Christmas should be celebrated, as a religious event or as a purely secular event.

No wonder during the winter of 2004, the Christmas season in Italy was marked by a lively debate. Some educators and teachers supported the idea of reducing to a minimum or even completely eliminating any reference to religious Christmas tradition. They advocated this out of respect for the increasing number of school children who are neither Catholics nor Protestants. However, others in scholastic circles and elsewhere demanded that the traditions be respected and fully preserved.

Aside from this controversy, though, just what are the origins of many of the Christmas traditions? As the debate was reaching its climax, the Vatican newspaper L’OSSERVATORE ROMEANO made some interesting observations.

Regarding the date when Christmas is celebrated, the Catholic newspaper said: “The real date of Jesus birth, from the historical viewpoint, lies concealed beneath a veil of uncertainty as regards Roman history, the imperial census of that time and research in subsequent centuries…..The date of 25^th December, as is well known, was chosen by the church of Rome in the fourth century. This date in pagan Rome was dedicated to the Sun god….Although Christianity had already been affirmed in Rome by an Edit

of Constantine, the myth of ……the Sun god was still widespread , especially among soldiers. The above mentioned festivities, centred on 25 December, were deeply rooted in popular tradition. This gives the church of Rome the idea of impressing a Christian religious significance on the day by replacing the Sun god with the true Sun of Justice , Jesus Christ, choosing it as a day on which to celebrate his birth.”

One is quick to ask: “What about the Christmas tree, which is now part of the Catholic tradition?”

The article in the Catholic newspaper pointed out tat back in ancient times, many evergreens, such as “Holly, butcher’s broom, Laurel and Branches of pine or fir were considered to have magical or medical powers that would ward off illness.” It went to say: “ON CHRISTMAS EVE, 24 December, A dam and Eve would be commemorated with the highly popular episode of the Tree of the earthly Paradise…The tree ought to have been an apple tree, but since an apple would have been inappropriate in winter, a fir tree was set on the stage and some apples put on its branches or, to symbolize the future coming of the Redemption, wafers prepared with crushed biscuits in special moulds that were symbols of the Eucharistic presence of Jesus, as well as sweet and gifts for children.”

Again, What then about after that time?

Mentioning that the tradition of using a Christmas tree first started in Germany in the 16^th century, L’Ossertore Romano noted with insight: “Italy was one of the last countries to accept the Christmas tree, partly because of a rather widespread rumors that the use of Christmas trees was a Protestant practice and should thus be replaced by the crib [the Nativity Scene].” Pope Paul VI “began the tradition of setting up [in St. Peter’s Square, Rome] a massive Christmas tree” near the Nativity Scene.

In view of all these, do you find it acceptable that a religious leader would give a seemly Christian meaning to events and symbols whose roots go back to ancient paganism? As to the proper course, the Scriptures admonish true Christians: “What fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness?” -2 Corinthians 6:14-17.

Marriage Contracts and Debt - How compactible

Recently a newly married couple had a raw deal with their benefactor. The youngman in question had borrowed an interest yeilding sum of money from a friend of his who equally doubled as a moneylender, to finance his wedding ceremony. As it turned out, he couldn’t be able to pay back the said sum and the accrued interest as agreed which lead to an unplesant scene of violence between him and his benefactor.

I was a witness to the ugly scene of violence between the two men. I equally heard the unpleasant exchanges of words between them. I observed them bleeding from the injuries they’d inflicted on themselves. It was an eye-sore to see with dismay a crowd of people gathered to watch and overheard this two men irresponsibly wash their inner linings out there in the public-square, when they could have settled their differences with mutual understanding.

However, what seems quite strange and unanswered is the question of the compactibleness or reasonableness of one going into debt in order to host his marriage ceremony of his heartthrob. What really could be the sound logics that would have caused an intending couple to mortegage their married life on the altar of debt and the possible ugly outcome in the case of insolvency.

I quite knew too well that a good number of people would be quick to condem the actions of the youngman for taking such decision at the onset of their married life. But how far reaching is the effects of the other pressures surrending his decision?

This is a youngman in his early thirties. Presumably, all his mates are married exercpt him. Possibly too he’d found a girl that he so much adored but was too afraid to lose her to another man. After observing the intense pressures the youg lady had been put through by her parents, friends, relations and inevitably other prospecting readi-made suitors. Could she wait any further for too long whle her time whiles away.

Well, nomatter how one takes a bite at this issue, one thing is quite certain: there’s no alternative to freedom and happiness. Nomatter how financialy biting a situation could be, mortegaging one’s married life and hapiness is nothing but unacceptable and a risky venture. It is a threat to the successful existence and happy outcome of the marriage itself.

Nudity- a deliblitating culture?

I am not a porn advocate neither am I going to insinuate towards that direction no matter what. All the same, the issue of nudity has always been a controversial one indeed. In many systems, it's been outlawed as a criminal act, especially in the public – a public nuisance you may call it. On the other hand, some staunch advocates are clamoring for the legalizing of one's right to go about nude in the public. This is not surprising either.

However, my point of view has nothing to do with the clamorous call for and against on nudity, but on the issue of what makes it, such a controversial bone-of-contention? Morally, yes in the religious aspect, nudity is well accepted as something to be kept under locks-and-keys: a privacy content only. Also in the legal frames and social ethics such is also upheld as a protection for public sanity.

Until the rebellion according to the bible's creation account, man began with nudity. Right before our modern day type of civilization, nudity was the order of the day. From the British ancestories before the Romans conquered their territories, to the red Indians of the Americas before they were forcefully subjugated by their conquering invaders of European origins. From the black African tribes, (even the Egyptians before and after the pharaohs), to the Middle East and the Asians e.t.c. Men and women alike went about their business absolutely naked or with fringes of coverings just below their abdomens. To them it was acceptable to the society of their day to go about stacked naked.

Nevertheless, the influx of civilizing ideologies as brought about by the conquering armies, with their attached strings of improved lifestyles and enlightenment, brought about a gradual change in the mental orientations of a once nude world. Man began to see himself as bizzare and indecent without a decent coverings over his nudity. Till date men and women remain ugly without their clothes on. They could only be judged as handsome or beautiful when properly dressed.

With too much emphasizes on sex and sensuality as been portrayed in the media, the society became overly consciouses of its sensual capacities and as such nudity became a more jealously guarded issue meant only for the consumption of the holder. The moral conscience soon took over what was left of the strong urge to protect our nudity.

Sadly today, times has changed a lot of things as an alarming good numbers of people especialy the younger generations are quickly embracing the culture of nudity- a delibrate backward steps to the dark ages of humanity in the full glare of a modern society. One begins to wonder how long the trend would last and how much the society would bear to stand the pressures towards keeping nudity a privacy-rights to the holder or would it soon become a public-rights?

There's no doubt that societys' sence of judgement has always degenerated when subjected under an intence pressure by the armies of invading ideaologies - betraying those who relied on it as a evident by the past. A sign of a global decadence and a replica of the dying and climaxing days of the Roman empire- when obsene nudity characterised the living glamoure of the once powerful empire, until they were swept away with destruction. Would our present society befalled of such predicaments?

COMMENTARY ON THE AWARD WINING POEM "GOODBYE HILLS AND SHORES"

This poem presents one of the fascinating aspects of the writer's show of his creative endowments as a poet. The title and the openings of the verses is a skillful approach he had employed to keep his audience focused on the real object of attention- the natural Hills and Shores.

One notable aspect of the poem is Kartel's subtly way of interwoven his emotional feelings for the picturesque beauty of nature in a "personification" way to address his seemly feelings of lose and sadness. It is undoubtedly clear that from the poem that he equally expressed his feelings for a seemly lost love for his future nubile –diva who had won his heart.

However, one sees through the poem a more elaborate expression of sadness at a frustrated ambition. An ambition to enjoy fully the scenic view of the beautiful Hills, and the glittering patches of sandy islands dotted along the breath and length of the breathtaking flows of a river that flowed round the academic community of an institution he had once sort an academic opportunity in. As a student of the tertiary institution, he would have had his ambition fulfilled. But for circumstances beyond him he found himself denied of that rare opportunity.

No wonder the piece went ahead to make it to the semi-finalist of the International Society of Poets 'Poetry Competition" and equally went on to win an "Outstanding Achievement in Poetry Crystal Award Trophy." The author was subsequently nominated as an associate ambassador of poet to the International Society of Poets. He equally received a gold Medallion in recognition of his creative ingenuity. Above all, he was presented with a $300 worth crystal trophy, a $100 coupon for the upcoming 2008 International Society of Poets edition, with free one year subscription to the Poets magazine. All this took place at the 27^thLas Vegas in Nevada U.S.A.
