With the windows phone 8 or 8.1, now it is easy to record your screen. The windows phone 8 or 8.1 has a feature called ‘Project My Screen’. Windows 8.1 comes with this feature preinstalled in the settings.

The Project My Screen enables you to project or share your windows phone screen with your PC. From the PC you can record your phone screen.

To do this:

Preconditions:

v You should have Project My Screen feature in your phone.

v Install Project My Screen app on your PC.

Download Project My Screen Appfor windows phone

To record:

1. Connect your phone to PC.

2. Before connecting the phone, open the Project My Screen app.

3. Now you will be asked ‘Allow screen projection’, in the windows phone display.

4. Tap yes.

You will be able to see your Lumia projected onto your PC display.

Now to record your PC screen you can use a desktop screen recorder like Camstudio or so.

Camstudio is a easy to use, free, open source screen recorder program. With camstudio you can record entire desktop, single window, or even specific parts of your screen (check “Region” settings of camstudio).

Select the region, hit record, and navigate back to the Project My Screen app on your PC. As you interact with your phone, it’ll be displayed and recorded on your PC. You have recording option such as AVI, MP4 or SWF. Select your option from “video option” settings.

This will do it for you and you can share your recording with your friends, family or anywhere you see fit.

How to stop screen dimming/flickering of laptop display

Many of us may have come across the problem of automatically dimming/flickering of our laptops display brightness at the following conditions:

1. The laptop is unplugged from the charger.

2. The screen brightness is turned down (any amount less than max)

3. The display changes quickly from light colours like this page to dark/black colours and vise-versa.

This problem mostly arise due to following features enabled. Disabling these features stops the dimming/brightening of the display:

1. Auto brightness enabled on windows.

2. Intel Display Power Saving Technology enabled.

Try the first method are if it doesn’t work, then go for the next.

Disabling of Auto Brightness on Windows.

1. Click on the battery icon on your taskbar and choose ‘ More power options ’.

2. Click the ‘ Change plan settings ’ for your active power plan and choose ‘ Change advanced power settings ’.

3. Navigate to display -> enable adaptive brightness and choose OFF as shown below by clicking the ON option already present.

This disables the adaptive brightness on windows. Sometimes this does not solve our problem. Then go the next.

Disabling Intel Display power Saving Technology

1. Open the Intel Graphics Control Panel.

2. Select Power. Then on the power window choose ‘ On battery ’ option.

3. Choose Disable under Display Power Saving Technology.

To remove ads (cuttheproice) extention

1. Go to Google chrome. Click the customize and control icon (three horizontal bars in the upper right hand corner).Hover the mouse over Tools and then click Extensions.

Here you can see the list of extensions on your chrome. You can see Cuttheproice extension too.

2. Your can delete this by clicking on the trash icon corresponding the extension.

Note: This only delete the extension temporarily sometimes. When you restart chrome again the extension may raise again due to the presence of a source file of it in your computer.

To permanently delete it…

3. Before deleting the extension from chrome, check the Developer mode in the upper right hand corner. This displays the exact file location of the source file from where it is loading (as Loaded from: c:\...... ).

4. Go to the location and delete the files. ( sometimes clicking the link takes you to the source files folder. Then take a back and delete the folder completely)

5. Then remove the extension as seen in step3.

6. Finally restart chrome and that’s it…!!!

With the Windows Phone 8.1 update now it’s easy to re-install your apps or games without paying for them again if you have accidentally deleted or recently upgraded from one Lumia to another.

Earlier, you would head to the Windows Phone Store and search for the individual apps. With the new update, you can reinstall all those deleted apps in a single go…

· Launch the store tile from your Start screen.

· Tap the “…” icon and select the app option.

· Now you will see the list of apps you have downloaded or purchased as your app history.

Depending on the number of apps you’ve downloaded, this may take a minute or two to generate.

Next, scroll down or tap an app or a game you wish to reinstall. You can also choose the select icon on the bottom of the screen to choose more than a single app or a game.

Once you’ve selected the apps or games, tap the download button at the bottom of the screen and the selected apps will start to reinstall.

Remember that the Windows Phone Store will always recognize if you’ve already bought an app or a game so that you don’t have to pay for it again.

Chinese tech giant Lenovo has unveiled its new 4G LTE smartphone, the Lenovo A6000, the cheapest LTE smartphone available in India priced at Rs. 6,999. It will be exclusively available for sale through Flipkart from January 28.

The A6000 was unveiled at the CES in Las Vegas last week. It supports both LTE bands in India – FDD 1800 MHz and TDD 2300 MHz .

Transfer from Android to iPhone…

Go to Settings on your Android phone and choose "Accounts and Sync" or similar. Enter your GMail account details and enable synchronisation. This will sync your phone contacts and Google Contacts.

Then go to your new iPhone. Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and add your Gmail account. Make sure Contacts are enabled for the account. You should now find that all of your Google contacts are in your iPhone.

On your Apple…

1. Open the Settings application on your iPhone.

2. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

3. Select Add Account...

5. Select Add CardDAV Account

6. Fill out your account information in the following fields:

After you've completed setup, open the Contacts app on your device, and syncing will automatically begin on your iPhone and Google.

Transfer from iPhone to Android…

The task of transferring contacts between iOS and a non-iOS devices has been made a bit tedious by Apple since they removed the feature in iTunes that made you able to sync your contacts with your Google account which was quite easy. But that feature has been removed and the newer version of the iTunes no longer support that feature.

You can however do that same using Apple’s iCloud service. Syncing your contacts to iCloud, you can then export your contacts into vCard files (VCF) which can then be imported into your Google account. Follow these steps:

1. Login into your iCloud account on your iPhone by going into Settings > iCloud.

2. Enable “Contacts“. Doing this will sync your iPhone’s contacts to your iCloud account. (Make sure you have good internet connectivity when doing this)

Your contacts have now been uploaded to your iCloud account. You now need to create vCad files (VCF) of these contacts and export these VCFs to your Google Account. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Open the web browser of your choice on your desktop or laptop computer and type in “https://www.icloud.com/“.

2. Sign into your iCloud account, the same one which you used on your iPhone.

3. Click contacts and you will see all the contacts that you synced earlier.

4. Select all the contacts you want to export to your Google account.

5. Click on the “Action Menu” button on the bottom-left corner of the screen that looks like a gear wheel and select the “Export vCard” option from the menu that appears.

6. You will see a VCF file being downloaded that will contain all your contacts.

7. Now go to the address bar and sign into “www.google.com/contacts” using your Google account.

8. In the left pane, scroll down and click on the “Import Contacts” window as shown below.

9. A small window will pop up where you will have to drop the VCF file that was earlier downloaded from the iCloud window.

10. Click on “Import” following which your Google will automatically sync the contacts on your Android smartphone.

HTC Desire 620 and 620 G announced

HTC has announced its new budget smartphones, the 620 and 620G dual-SIM in Taiwan.

The two phones comes up with a 5 inch 720p display. Both have 8 GB internal storage, 1 GB of RAM, 8 MP primary camera with autofocus and a 5 MP front-facing camera.

It has a pretty cool design like the Desire 820, but variation in display size to 5 inch rather than 5.5 inch.

The primary difference between the two new phones is that the Desire 620 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC with a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU and Adreno 306 GPU, whereas the Desire 620G is powered by a MediaTek MT6592 SoC with its octa-core CPU clocked at 1.7GHz and accompanied by a Mali-450MP4 GPU.

Both smartphones feature a plastic build and front-facing stereo speakers. The Desire 620 is priced at 6990 TWD (Rs. 14,000) and the Desire 620G is priced at 4990 TWD (Rs. 10,000). Since HTC is still developing its Sense UI for Android 5.0, both phones come with Android 4.4.4 out of the box.

How to add widgets to notification centre, Apple iOS 8

1. Install apps that support Notification Centre widgets such as Yahoo News Digest, Dropbox, Sky Guide, etc.

2. Now on your iOS device's home screen, swipe down from the top to pull down the Notification Centre.

3. Tap the Today button near the top of the screen.

4. You'll see your day's notification. Tap the Edit button at the bottom of the page.

5. Now you'll see a list of installed apps that support widgets. Tap the green '+' button next to each widget to show it in the notification centre.

6. If you want to remove any widget from the Notification Centre, tap the red '-' button next to the widget.

7. You can also rearrange these widgets. Simply tap and hold the three horizontal lines on the right side of any widget and drag it up or down to the position you desire.

8. When you're done tweaking, tap Done at the top right.

That's it. Now widgets will appear in the Today view in the Notification Centre.

Prolong battery life span of your smart devices…

“Battery life” is the amount of time your device runs before it needs to be recharged. “Battery lifespan” is the amount of time your battery lasts until it needs to be replaced. Maximize both and you’ll get the most out of your devices, no matter which ones you own.

Our smart devices like smartphones, tablets and laptops use lithium-ion batteries. These batteries will lose capacity over time. You can delay this process by taking the measures listed below but you can't stop it entirely. Batteries are designed to retain up to 80 percent of their capacity for a limited number of charge cycles. This number will be slightly higher for bigger and more expensive batteries, typically found in tablets or laptops. For instance, Apple claims that the iPhone can hold 80 percent of its capacity for 500 charge cycles, while the number is 1,000 for iPad and MacBook models. The exact number will vary across devices but this is a fair benchmark.

Now the question is "What's a charge cycle?" The battery completes one charge cycle when you charge it to 100 percent and drain it to 0. If you charge it to 50 percent and then drain it completely, you only complete half a charge cycle. The reality is a little more complicated than that, but it's a good general rule of thumb. That means that you can't avoid charge cycles by bringing your phone back to 100 percent whenever it hits 90 - ten such charges will count as a charge cycle.

Prolonging battery life

On average, most smartphone batteries last between one and two days before being completely depleted, and in need of a recharge.

Here's a checklist you should keep in mind, to keep your batteries healthy for as long as possible...

1) Initialize a new battery...

New batteries should be fully charged before their first use to obtain maximum capacity. Nickel-based batteries should be charged for 16 hours initially and run through 2-4 full charge/full discharge cycles, while lithium ion batteries should be charged for about 5-6 hours. Ignore the phone telling you that the battery is full—this is normal but is not accurate if the battery is not initialized.

2) Avoid fully discharging a lithium-ion battery!!!

Unlike Ni-Cd batteries, lithium-ion batteries' life is shortened every time you fully discharge them. Instead, charge them when the battery meter shows one bar left. Lithium-ion batteries, like most rechargeable batteries, have a set number of charges in them.

3) Don't leave it plugged in all the time…

Leaving your devices plugged in at 100 percent is also harmful for battery life. Battery University says overcharging is not good for the battery: "Avoiding full charge has benefits, and some manufacturers set the charge threshold lower on purpose to prolong battery life... Li-ion cannot absorb overcharge, and when fully charged the charge current must be cut off. A continuous trickle charge would cause plating of metallic lithium, and this could compromise safety."

4) Keep the battery cool...

Your battery will last longest if used near room temperature, and nothing wears on a battery like extended exposure to high temperatures. Your phone is most comfortable at about 32-degrees Fahrenheit. In addition, check the battery while it’s charging. If it seems excessively hot, your charger may be malfunctioning.

5) Medium- to long-term storage…

If you're not using your device for a while, then you should try to keep the battery at around 50 percent before turning it off. If you're going for a long trip and want to leave your phone in storage, most manufacturers recommend that you should keep it in a cool place (the recommended temperature is under 32 degrees Celsius) and ideally, keep the battery at the halfway mark.

Apple's battery guide mentions that if you plan to store the device for longer than six months, you should charge it to 50 percent every six months. This is something you should do regardless of the brand of the device you are using.

J Regardless of the battery type, use only a charger rated for your battery, and discontinue use of a charger that causes the battery to heat up excessively.

Troubleshoot your Android phone in safe mode

You can boot your Android device into a “Safe Mode” that allows you to start your phone with only the essential services and apps. Android is a relatively stable mobile operating system, but every now and then, performance issues arise. Sometimes you may got an app that’s crashing your phone. Safe mode is a great tool that you can use to troubleshoot these issues.

Safe mode boots your phone running only the apps that came with the phone – that means no third-party apps. Therefore, if your phone runs without any issue in safe mode, then you can easily say that the problem isn’t system related, and instead a third party app you have downloaded.

When your phone is in safe mode, you can see the words ‘Safe Mode’ in the lower left corner of the screen. In safe mode, you would only see the factory-installed apps on the phone but you can still go to settings -> Apps to manage and uninstall any apps that is causing the problems. All your Google apps like Gmail, Maps, Chrome, Calender and so will still run in safe mode.

How to boot into safe mode?

Method 1:

1. Press and hold the power button to load the power menu.

2. Press and hold the “Power Off”, so that a pop-up window appears asking if you want to boot into safe mode.

3. Press OK. Now your Android device reboot into safe mode. You can see the words “Safe Mode” displayed in the bottom-left corner of your screen.

Method 2:

1. Turn off your phone.

2. Once your phone is off, turn it on by pressing the power button.

3. As your phone is booting, hold down both the volume-up and volume-down buttons simultaneously and keep them held. If your phone booted in the safe mode, then you can see the “Safe Mode” displayed in the bottom-left corner of your screen.

For HTC devices with physical buttons:

1. Turn off your Android device.

2. Press the Menu button on your device and keep on holding.

3. Turn on the device and keep holding the Menu key until you see the lock screen.

4. Now your device starts into Safe Mode.

How to exit Safe Mode?

Method 1: Regular Restart

This method should work on the majority of Android devices, regardless of the model or manufacturer. This is the official and default way of getting your device out of Safe Mode. Google has come up with its new upshot, Inbox. Inbox is a Google 's attempt to bring your important messages such as flight itineraries, event information, photos and documents emailed to you by friends and family and your remainders in a single 'Inbox'.

In simple, it can be said as the combination of Google Now and your Gmail inbox. Google's Sundar Pinchai voiced..."For many of us, dealing with email has become a daily chore that distracts from what we really need to do-rather than helping us get those things done. More accurately, Inbox works for you."

Inbox will even display usefull information from the web that wasn't in the original email, such as the real-time status of your flight and package deliveries. It Highlights and Bundles work together to give you just the information you need at a glance.

Inbox Assists shows your remainders on your priority, letting you to add your own Remainders. Inbox will be a centralized place to keep track of the things you need to get back to. Inbox lets you snooze away emails and remainders and can set them come back at another time or when you get to a specific location, like your home or your office.

Inbox starts with an invitations. You can email to inbox@google.com to get an invitation. Every new user will be able to invite their friends. Gmail is still there, but doesn't know how this upshot reflect on gmail application.

Sign out all your Gmail Sessions

In many occations we may accesss our Gmail or Google apps from a shared computer or a public network. However, if you forget to log out, you can logout all your previous sessions the next time you are at a computer.

To do this, go to your Gmail account and scroll all the way down and click on the details link in the bottom right of your screen. This will open up a pop up window where you can see recent activity, whether your Gmail or Google Apps account is open in any other location. Choose Sign out all other sessions. Clicking this will ensure all your previous Gmail and Google Apps sessions are logged out, leaving you logged in to the current computer only. If someone logs into your account from a suspicious location, Google sends you an alert.

San Francisco.. Microsoft announced the next version of its Windows operating system: Windows 10. Earlier it was said as that the windows 9 will be released on Sept. 30. Microsoft claims it represents such a significant leap over Windows 8 that calling it Windows 9 would not do it justice.

Windows 10 builds nearly everything that businesses need right into the core of the product — including enterprise-grade security, identity and information protection features — in ways that can reduce complexities and provide better experiences than other solutions.

One area of advancement is in the work Microsoft has done with user identities to improve resistance to breach, theft or phishing. Windows 10 will also help advance data loss prevention by using containers and data separation at the application and file level, enabling protection that follows the data as it goes from a tablet or PC to a USB drive, email or the cloud.

Technical preview PC productivity

The early technical preview of Windows 10 demonstrates new levels of flexibility, navigation and familiarity through the Windows experience. Features include these:

Expanded Start menu. The familiar Start menu is back, providing quick one-click access to the functions and files that people use most, and it includes a new space to personalize with favorite apps, programs, people and websites.

Apps that run in a window. Apps from the Windows Store now open in the same format that desktop programs do. They can be resized and moved around, and have title bars at the top allowing users to maximize, minimize and close with a click.

Snap enhancements. Working in multiple apps at once is easier and more intuitive with snap improvements. A new quadrant layout allows up to four apps to be snapped on the same screen. Windows will also show other apps and programs running for additional snapping, and it will even make smart suggestions on filling available screen space with other open apps.

New Task view button. The new Task view button on the task bar enables one view for all open apps and files, allowing for quick switching and one-touch access to any desktop created.

Multiple desktops. Instead of too many apps and files overlapping on a single desktop, it’s easy to create and switch between distinct desktops for different purposes and projects — whether for work or personal use.

Windows 10 is expected to release in fall 2015. Starting tomorrow, Microsoft will open up the OS to dedicated beta testers under its Windows 10 "Insider Program."

"It's a name that resonated best with what we'll deliver," Myerson said.

How to wipe all Personal Information from your Android Device

Ever planning to give away your android device, then it’s a wise idea to wipe all your personal informations to save your privacy for your personal security.

A recent study performed by the security software company Avast has shown that factory reset feature that is built into the Android OS is not effective at completely removing your personal information from your unused devices. From a number of Android smartphones they were able to recover an enormous amount of personal informations including 250 contacts, 750 emails and text messages and more than 40,000 photographs. Using a specialized software recovery tool can make things even worse.

A simple method instead of using specialized data deletion tools to wipe all your personal information is to encrypt your phone’s data before doing a Factory Reset.

The encryption process scrambles the data on your phone or tablet, meaning that even if wipe does not delete everything, the information left will be garbled and can only be scrambled by using a special key or combination of keys. As your data is encrypted and performing a factory reset overwrites the encryption pin, blocks from retrieving the data. For most cases, encrypting the data and then performing a factory reset will be enough.

However, if you are particularly concerned about security, you can add another layer of protection by loading some fake information onto your device. You can load fake contacts, photographs or any other type of data you choose, and then perform another factory reset to delete the fake data.

These final steps may seem a little odd, but loading and then deleting fake information makes it even harder for someone to find your data because it is buried underneath the fake content. This step can be repeated as many times as necessary until you are completely comfortable that your information has been completely deleted from your device.
