2015 Nissan GT-R

Nissan will also unveil the updated 2014 GT-R at the Tokyo Motor Show.The refreshed model brings a series of upgrades that give it a more comfortable ride, more refinement and a more upscale interior.

The GT-R’s suspension has been fine-tuned to reduce load fluctuation between the four wheels, providing better stability and more consistent grip. Nissan has also optimized the electronic control of the shock-absorber valves and modified the front stabilizer spring rates and bush link, giving the car an enhanced road-holding capability.

On the inside, the new model year car comes with a choice of three color schemes including a new pale ivory trim option. The steering wheel gets a leather wrap, while the part-aniline leather seats are feature stitched accents. Less noise enters the cabin even at high speeds thanks to optimized insulation and acoustic tuning.

Other updates include the reduction of minute vibrations and road noise, the addition of new Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 600 DSST CTT standard tires.
The brakes have also been retuned for a more firm and linear response at everyday speeds, making smooth braking more intuitive. Moreover, steering is now easier to use during in-town maneuvers.

In terms of styling,Nissan GT-R features new LED headlights with AFS (Adaptive Front lighting System) and a distinctive "lightning" motif, while the four-ring taillights now form coherent circles of illumination.The GT-R also gains a new body color called Gold Flake Red Pearl, featuring microscopic gold-tinted glass flakes infused into the red paint. Nissan also offers an optional carbon rear wing, which is attached to a carbon trunk lid that weighs half than the standard trunk lid.

Mitsubishi Eclipse 2012 SE Special Edition Series

The fourth generation Mitsubishi Eclipse is nearing the end of its career and to mark the occasion, the Japanese manufacturer has announced a final special edition for the Coupe and Spyder models.

Mitsubishi will cease production of the Eclipse after the upcoming 2012 model year without offering a replacement model, the SE Special Edition is the manufacturer's way of saying goodbye to a model series produced since 1989.

Eclipse trim levels (GS, GS Sport and GT) will be available as SE Special Edition versions which includes “SE” side decals, black side mirrors and 18-inch dark finish alloy wheels, along with the high-end standard features available on the Eclipse GS Sport versions of both the coupe and convertible models.

Standard equipment includes leather upholstery with heated front seats and a power-adjustable driver's seat, rearview camera, Bluetooth hands-free phone access, heated side mirrors and a 9-speaker, 650-watt Rockford Fosgate audio system with SIRIUS satellite radio. The coupe version also includes a sunroof.

The Eclipse SE Special Edition will be available with two engine options: a naturally-aspirated 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 162-horsepower (in the GS/GS Sport models) or a 265-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 engine (for the GT model).

The latter is mated to a 5-speed Sportronic automatic transmission that allows the driver to manually select gearshifts when desired. GT-based SE models also get an automatic climate control system.

Prices have not yet been announced.

Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X GSR Premium Edition Introduced in Japan

Mitsubishi has refreshed its 2009 Lancer Evolution X line-up with the introduction of a new top-of-the-line GSR Premium edition that sits above the RS and GSR models. No different mechanically from the other EVO Xs, the Premium edition is distinguished on the outside by the 18-inch BBS alloy wheels, the front fog lights and the body colored hood and fender scoops while it also features a set of Bilstein shocks.

Inside the GSR Premium gets Recaro leather bucket seats, a satellite navigation system, side and curtain airbags as well as a Rockford Fosgate audio system with nine-speakers.

For the 2009MY, the Japanese-market Lancer EVO X range also benefits from minor revisions to the instrument panel and a new floor console.

Prices for the 009 Mitsubishi Lancer EXO X GSR Premium edition are set in Japan at 4,798,500 Yen ($48,250 US) for the version equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox 5,050,000 Yen ($50,785 US) for the Twin Clutch-SST model.

2011 NYIAS: New Scion FR-S Concept to the FT-86

The New York Auto Show, Scion’s version of the Toyota FT-86 sports coupe concept, finally made its world premiere today.

The study is named FR-S, which stands for ‘Front-Engine, Rear-wheel drive, Sport’, though we prefer the definition given by Jack Hollis, Scion vice president, during the New York Show presentation. “FR-S stands for Front-engine… Rear-wheel drive… Sport.

Though it’s hard to pinpoint all the changes without having the cars side by side, the photos reveal a tweaked front end with revamped headlamps and a different bumper design without the aftermarket like add-on LED strips.

Looking at the coupe’s profile, we see beefier and more heavily sculptured front and rear fenders plus new side sills and mirrors, and larger alloy wheels with a different design.

In addition, the FT-86 II’s gaudy fender air vents have been removed.

Scion’s interpretation of the FT-86 includes a new rear fascia with a more protruding boot design that ditches the tuner-esque rear wing, different tail lamps and an impressive rear diffuser.

Other changes include the roof that projects into the rear windshield.

However, the company revealed that the flat four engine will incorporate Toyota’s D4-S injection system, which utilizes both direct and port injection, resulting in increased horsepower and torque throughout the entire powerband, without sacrificing MPG – or at least that’s what the company claims.

Geneva 2011: Toyota FT-86 II Concept (Updated)

Toyota has revealed photos of the second iteration of its FT-86 Concept car that is said to be very close to the actual production version due to go on sale in 2012. The Geneva Motor Show FT-86 II features several styling differences over the original concept shown at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show.

First off, Toyota's designers restyled the coupe's profile by eliminating the lower swoop line and adding a new beltline that starts from the front wheel arch with a cheesy air vent and finishes off on the tip of the rear window, which itself has grown in size.

In addition, Toyota also split the front window and abolished the blacked out A-Column finish, while the rear wheel arches are more pronounced and there are new side rocker panels.

At the front end there's a new bumper with a larger center grille and more concave surfaces on both corners, while Toyota also threw in a pair of gaudy looking LED daytime running lights.

Finally, Toyota revamped the FT-86's rear end with new standalone, protruding tail lamps and a different treatment for the bumper that houses a more pronounced diffuser and large tail pipes on either side.

The re-sculptured boot lid and the fitment of a fixed wing round off the styling changes.

The overall feeling we get is that Toyota went all 'Fast and Furious' with the FT-86's redesign making the coupe look unnecessary busy and ultimately, far less sleek compared to the original concept.

The company said the new concept measures 4,235mm long, 1,795mm wide and 1,270mm high, meaning it has grown 75mm in length, 35mm in width, and 10mm in height while riding on the same 2,570mm long wheelbase as the FT-86 I.

The rest of the specs remain a secret for now as the only details we know for sure is that the FT-86 will get a Subaru-sourced boxer engine with power being delivered to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.

The same setup will be used on Subaru's version of the FT-86 that was also on display at the Geneva Motor Show, albeit with a see-through plastic body.

Transformers Film Ford Mustang Decepticon for Sale on eBay

Is US$130,000 a little too much to be paying for a Vin Diesel-driven Dodge Charger R/T? Do you think the home of the American muscle car is Dearborn? Is your DVD collection populated with Bad Boys and Pearl Harbour instead of xXx and Stealth?

Carscoop hears you, and so does MotoeXotica of St. Louis. On eBay right now is the second of three quasi-Police issue Saleen Mustangs built for the first Transformers film in 2007.

The Mustang, which played the Decepticon Barricade in the movie, has all the Saleen goodies including a "3V modified" engine, 5sp manual tranny, 20 inch alloys as well as exterior, suspension and exhaust upgrades.

Saleen then handed the car over to the movie's FX department who added the police pushbar, decals and a host of flashing police lights. The only downside is the absence of a supercharger, which was removed so it would not interfere with the microphones placed inside the car during filming.

The car has been well looked after with 7,200 original miles (11,587 km) on the clock, and is undamaged and 100% street legal. The bidding is currently stalled at US$35,100, which is less than the (undisclosed) reserve price.

Proton Rebadges Lotus Europa to Create Lekir Sports Concept

Taking center stage at Proton's 2010 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show booth alongside the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO-esque Jebat study, is yet one more concept model based on another manufacturer's vehicle, the Lekir.

This time, Proton looked into its own car bin and in particular, Lotus, which it acquired back in 1994, as the Lekir is essentially a rebagded Europa coupe. Mind you, it's not the first time we've seen the Europa wearing different logos as Dodge displayed an EV concept of the model at the 2009 Detroit Show.

Depending on which part of Proton's description of the car you read, the Lekir is powered either by a 2.0-liter turbocharged unit or a 1.6-liter engine with some 220-ponies (167kW).

Malaysia's state-controlled carmaker didn't say whether it plans to resurrect the Europa as a Proton.

2011 Detroit Motor Show

One of the largest and most important motor shows of the year, the 2011 edition of the North American International Auto Show [NAIAS], kicks off next week in Detroit. Even though many automakers are still keeping their cards under the table, Autonews published a list of new production models and concept studies that are expected to make their world premiere at Detroit's Cobo Center. The list includes a variety of vehicles ranging from GM's Chevrolet Sonic subcompact to Volkswagen's NMS sedan which will replace the Passat in the U.S. market. More details on the cars that are scheduled to debut in Detroit after the break.

Audi

At the center of Audi’s booth we’ll find the 2012 A6, which adopts styling cues from the A7 and A8 models. Considered to be a crucial car for the German maker’s U.S. strategy, the luxury sedan will be offered at launch with a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine, but, according to AN, Audi is also considering the introduction of a six-cylinder diesel in the States. The A6 will go on sale in the second half of 2011.

BMW

This year’s NAIAS will see the world premiere of the 2012 BMW 650i Convertible. Powered by a 400 hp 4.4-liter force inducted V8, the open top model, much to the delight of purists, will be offered with a six-speed manual gearbox as well as an eight-speed automatic.

Other highlights of the BMW stand will include the face-lifted 1-Series Coupe and Convertible and the brand new 335-horsepower 1-Series M Coupe. All the aforementioned models will go on sale in the spring.

Buick

Buick is expected to present the Verano compact sedan, which is based on the China-market Excelle GT, with both variants borrowing their underpinnings from the Opel Astra.

BYD

The Chinese maker is said to unwrap the S6DM plug-in hybrid SUV Concept, an eco-friendly variant of the S6.

Chevrolet

Chevrolet will bring to Detroit the 2012 Sonic that replaces the Aveo subcompact. It will eventually be offered in both hatchback and sedan versions.

Chrysler

The most important Chrysler model in Motor City will be the 2011 Chrysler 300, which features softer and more elegant lines than its predecessor, a revamped interior and two engine choices: the 290 hp 3.6-liter V6 and a 5.7-liter V8 Hemi. Sales will start in the first quarter of 2011.

Ford

Marking Ford’s return to the U.S. minivan market, the Focus-based2012 C-Max features sliding rear doors and a new, 1.6-liter Ecoboost direct injected/turbocharged powerplant. According to AN, Ford also could reveal further information about alternative powertrain vehicles derived from the C-Max platform.

As previously reported, we can also expect to see a production-ready concept version for a common replacement for the European Kuga and the U.S.-market Escape crossovers.

GMC

The star of this year’s GMC line-up will be the Sierra All-Terrain HD Concept. Powered by GM’s 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V8, which is capable of 397 hp and 1,037 Nm (765 lb-ft) of torque, the pick-up promises to be a trusty “workhorse”. The styling could preview the next generation of the Sierra which is expected to launch in 2014. The next Sierra will be one of the first trucks to shed weight in order to comply with new fuel economy standards.

Honda

The Japanese automaker will try to create as much hype as it can around a design study previewing the upcoming ninth-generation2012 Civic, scheduled to hit North American showrooms in March.

Hyundai

The crowds attending the Detroit Motor Show will get to see the production version of the Hyundai Veloster coupe, designed to compete with the Honda CR-Z. Powered by a 140 hp 1.6-liter gasoline engine with direct injection, the sporty Hyundai is expected to return up to 40 US mpg. According to Hyundai North America CEO John Krafcik, the Veloster will be released in 2011 as a 2012 model.

The Curb crossover concept, said to preview a new design language for the company, will be another highlight of the Korean maker’s stand.

Jeep

Jeep recently unveiled the 2011MY Compass crossover, a more upscale model featuring a Grand Cherokee-style nose-job and a $19,295 MSRP or almost $4,000 more than the 2010MY. Only time will tell if customers will find the improvements worthy of the heftier price tag, but until then they can see the updated version at NAIAS.

Kia

Aside from a teaser rendering, Kia hasn’t released much information about the KV7 crossover concept, but the bold lines and gullwing rear doors look neat.

Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes is expected to launch several new or refreshed models this year, but one of the most important vehicle is the face-lifted 2012 C-Class, which will bow in Detroit. Changes include exterior and interior revisions, while U.S.-spec cars will see the return of a four-cylinder engine in the form of a turbocharged 201 hp 1.8-liter unit, alongside a new, 300-horsepower 3.5-liter V6. Sales are expected to start in July.

MINI

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of its U.S. re-launch, MINI will present the Paceman coupe crossover concept. The design study teases an upcoming series model, which will strive to translate the X6’s success into a smaller niche.

Porsche

Porsche has recently confirmed that it will premiere a brand new model at the 2011 Detroit Motor Show, but it hasn’t released any information. The Detroit car could be anything from a 911 successor to the Cajun small SUV, but we’re secretly rooting for the production version of the918 hybrid supercar pictured here.

Toyota

Toyota’s 2011 Detroit line-up will be all about extending its Prius line-up. The list of new models includes the Prius Plug-in, a compact minivan, which, according to U.S. Patent and Trademark Office filings, will be dubbed Prius V, and a Prius-branded concept car.

Volkswagen

The 2011 North American International Auto Show will mark the world premiere of the much-anticipated Volkswagen NMS (New Mid-sized Sedan) that will be built at the German maker’s new U.S. factory in Chattanooga, Tennesse. It will go on sale in the second half of the year.

Audi Ready Mid-Engine R5 Sports Car

Audi is planning to introduce a mid-engined sports car called the R5. Said to be positioned between the more mainstream TT and the flagship R8, the R5 is believed to be based on the VW Group's forthcoming MiMo (as in "MittelMotor") mid-engine sports car platform, which will also be used on future Porsche and VW models.

The same inside sources imply that the R5 will be available in both coupe and convertible forms, with styling cues borrowed from Audi's E-tron and E-tron Spyder concepts.

The R5 is said to measure only 3.9 meters (153.5 inches) in length, or roughly the same as a Lotus Exige. Being super-compact in dimensions means that weight should be kept low, and that is a definite advantage. The entire history of Lotus is based on this concept, with considerable success.

The 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbocharged mill, sourced from the TT-RS, would most likely be the range-topper. With somewhere around 350 hp (261 kW) on tap, it would surely deliver "the goods" in a lightweight sports car. Smaller displacement inline-fours such as the 2.0-liter TSI, should also be in the mix.
I wouldn't exclude a hybrid variant either, as "green" sports cars are becoming increasingly popular these days.

We still have a long way to go until we hear something official about the R5, but we'll keep an eye open for any developments.

When cornering with the headlights on, the Intelligent AFS (Adaptive Front-lighting System) shifts the low beams to match the steering angle and vehicle speed, thereby enhancing visibility in the direction the vehicle is moving.

The new Radar Cruise Control system, equipped with a brake-control function, detects and monitors the preceding vehicle, maintaining a fixed distance, in line with the preceding vehicle's speed, within a preset speed range.

Hill-start Assist Control prevents the vehicle from rolling backward when switching from the brake to the accelerator during a start on a steep hill.

Comfort features enhance driving pleasure

The multi-information display, which indicates average fuel efficiency, possible cruising distance and other data, features enhanced visibility through the adoption of a high-contrast white, organic electroluminescent (EL) display.

Fully automatic independent temperature controls for the driver and passenger sides—standard on all models—feature a function to remove pollen, dust and other impurities from the air in the cabin. Meanwhile, Plasmacluster Ions^®3 technology combats bacteria and creates a comfortable cabin atmosphere through the balanced release of positive and negative ions.

The 480-liter⁴ trunk is roomy enough to accommodate four golf bags.

An HDD navigation system (compatible with the G-BOOK mX telematics service) features multimedia and other advanced functions such as Map on Demand, which provides automatic map and information updates and door-to-door guidance that pinpoints directions to a destination.

The premium models come with a G-BOOK mX telematics service-compatible HDD navigation system with built-in terrestrial digital TV tuner and gear-shifting functions for driver support in merging and exiting and at intersections; 12 speakers optimally placed to provide sound quality comparable to a live performance.

Reduced environmental impact

Efforts were made to improve fuel efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions. The 2.5-liter two-wheel-drive models have a fuel efficiency of 13.0km/l⁵, while the 3.5-liter two-wheel-drive models have one of 10.2km/l⁵, thus placing both at the top of their vehicle classes¹.
All vehicles in the series achieve emission levels 75% lower than the 2005 level required under the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Approval System for Low-emission Vehicles.

The Relax Selection two-wheel-drive models have fuel efficiency that exceeds by 15% the level stipulated in the Japanese 2010 standards set out under the Law Concerning the Rational Use of Energy, thereby qualifying them for incentives and subsidies under the Japanese government's taxation system for environmentally friendly vehicles.

All 2.5-liter models meet the Japanese 2010 standards and qualify for subsidies⁶.

An Eco Driving Indicator that lights up to signify fuel-efficient vehicle operation and an Eco Zone Indicator that shows throttle use—standard on all models—raise driver awareness of environmentally considerate driving.

Eco-VAS (Eco-Vehicle Assessment System)—Toyota's original comprehensive environmental impact assessment system—was implemented to efficiently reduce overall environmental impact throughout the vehicle's lifecycle.

A review of the materials, processing methods and adhesives used for interior parts helped reduce the amount of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), such as formaldehyde, as well as the discomforting odors sometimes resulting from such materials, to levels below those outlined in the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association's "Vehicle Cabin VOC Testing Methods (for Passenger Cars)", which are the industry's voluntary standards.

The door trim and carpet are made of low-VOC materials and the front console box is made from VOC-free water-based urethane synthetic leather.

New Nissan GT-R for the 2012

Nissan is getting ready to present a 2012MY version of its flagship sports model.Even though the Japanese automaker has yet to make it official, the Nissan enthusiasts over at the GTRblog website posted some leaked images along with information on the updated model.

So, what do we have on the 2012 MY GT-R? Well, on the outside, the Japanese sports car receives a restyled front bumper with LED running lights and a new rear diffuser. These changes are said to help drop the GT-R's drag coefficient from 0.272 to 0.268 while also improving rear downforce by 10%.

The car also gets a new set of Rays forged aluminium wheels, which reportedly save a total of 12kg (26.4 lbs), and two new exterior hues (blue and black).

The website added that the 2012MY GT-R will also benefit from some modest interior upgrades.

Jon Sibal, in what appears to be a wheel search for a new Challenger 'chop (can't wait) has some pics of this JDM Nissan Skyline V36, or as we know it here in the States, the Infiniti G37, done-to-to-the-bone by Access Evolution.

Those spider webs inside the tires are Forgiatto GTRs, and they're not getting any love from anybody...except me. They look like they belong on a futuristic sports car, but certainly look nice on the Skyline.

The rest of the body kit comes from Access Evolution's Exclusive Sport collection: badgeless grille (￥68,750 / $805), carbon fiber front lip spoiler (￥99,750 / $1,168), carbon fiber trunk spoiler (￥52,500 / $615), fiber-reinforced plastic trunk spoiler (￥36,750 / $430), and two brake kits. The big kit features 355 mm discs / 4-piston calipers (￥268,000 / $3,139), and the smaller kit has 2-piston calipers and 320 mm discs (￥59,000 / $691).

For me, the whole matte black thing is way past done, resulting in the coolest detail of the whole car being those loud green calipers (very similar to the color highlighting the interior of Techart's Panamera Concept One). Definitely neat.

Honda CR-Z Hybrid Sports Coupe

The CR-X lives on to tell another tale, or at least sort of. The spiritual successor to Honda's much missed small coupe, the gasoline-electric hybrid CR-Z, will be unveiled in near production form at next month's Tokyo Motor Show.

Despite the fact that CR-Z carries a concept moniker, it's obvious that only a few changes will be made to the production model that is scheduled to be launched in Japan in February 2010 and the rest of the world sometime after.

The CR-Z's hybrid powertrain, but recent reports suggest that Honda will ditch the Insight's 1.3-liter petrol engine for a more powerful 1.5-liter unit combined with a more potent electric motor.

Sound quality is a key characteristic of all Jaguars and is one particular aspect that customers relish.

The new XFR has received special attention to deliver the required V8 intake sound character commonly absent on supercharged engines. Intake manifold pressure pulsations are fed into an acoustic filter at the rear of the engine that is tuned to ‘tenor C’, with the output from the filter ducted into the cabin. The filter is controlled by the engine management system which allows the acoustics to enter the cabin only under certain conditions, such as when the engine is accelerating hard, thus maintaining the desired sound quality at all times. It is music to any performance enthusiast’s ears!

Mated to the more powerful supercharged engine is an enhanced version of Jaguar’s acclaimed ZF 6HP28 electronically controlled, six-speed automatic transmission. Additional clutch plates and an upgraded torque converter are added to the XFR model to facilitate the extra power.

Enhancing the enjoyment and thrilling ride offered by the new XFR is fully independent suspension, control arms, coil springs, gas-charged shocks and anti-roll bar up front with a multi-link rear that features coil springs, gas-charged shocks and an anti-roll bar. The new changes to the XFR’s chassis dynamics come from two new advanced technologies, Adaptive Dynamics and Active Differential Control, which gives a more comfortable, and controlled ride when needed or by turning off the system you can let the rear slide when slicing through steep curving roads.

Active Differential Control (ADC) with traction-only functionality and handling functionality is an electronically controlled alternative to the traditional, wholly mechanical differential, offering more subtle control strategies.

ADC can vary its locking torque (and therefore the proportion of torque to each driven wheel) depending on surface conditions and power applied. Its control strategies optimize traction at each wheel, improving acceleration on low-grip surfaces while also enhancing cornering ability. ADC has no adverse effect on either refinement or stability-where the traditional, mechanical differential can compromise stability under hard applications of power, demanding more corrective input from the driver. Whereas a mechanical differential is permanently active, the XFR’s new ADC system is switched off when not required, so unlike the mechanical alternative, it does not risk undesirable understeer, and creates no issues with noise, vibration or harshness (NVH) at low speeds.

The differential is operated by an internal electric motor and ‘ball-and-ramp’ mechanism, and contains a multi-plate clutch, which transmits or ‘vectors’ torque to the wheel with the most grip. The multi-plate clutch assembly is designed to prevent excessive differential slip, but differs fundamentally from a conventional traction control which uses the brakes to counteract slip after it has occurred.

Adaptive Dynamics (AD) is a highly sophisticated active damping system which automatically adjusts suspension damper settings to suit both road conditions and the way in which the car is being driven. By removing the need for compromise between a fixed, softer setting for ride comfort and a fixed, firmer setting for tauter body control and handling, AD allows the balance between rides and handling to be optimized whatever the circumstances. Unlike earlier systems with only a small number of steps in the damper settings, it offers a progressively variable damping strategy between wide extremes, to deliver a comfortable but sporty ride with impressively sharp handling responses to your inputs.

The three primary functions of AD are to control vertical movement, roll rate and pitch rate of the body. It does this by analyzing induced body motions one hundred times a second, and setting each damper to an appropriate level in order to maintain a constant and level body attitude, thereby optimizing control without compromising ride. Also one hundred times a second, it predicts the roll-rate due to steering inputs, and selectively increases damping forces to reduce that roll rate-improving handling feel and driver confidence-as well as analyzing fore and aft pitch rates due to throttle and braking inputs, and again varies damping forces to reduce pitch, further improving comfort and control.

Additionally, AD improves ride by monitoring wheel position five hundred times a second and automatically increases damping rate as the suspension approaches the limits of its travel. Similarly, it controls wheel ‘hop’ by varying damping to move any wheel out of a natural bouncing frequency, again benefitting ride comfort, handling and even grip.

The new XFR also features Handling functionality, which is unique in this class. In conjunction with the DSC Off option and JaguarDrive Control with Dynamic Mode, this supplements all the advantages of Traction Only Functionality with a number of more driver-focused dynamic characteristics. Dynamic Mode modifies the throttle, stability and transmission parameters, and also modifies the AD responses.

The combination of ADC and Dynamic mode with DSX Off allows controllable power-on oversteer, and improves off-throttle stability, allowing quicker, more spirited cornering when you want to take the new XFR to its limits of adhesion. It can also improve stability in situations such as an emergency lane-change maneuver at high speed and, in combination with DSC, reduce the brake interventions which the more enthusiastic driver might see as intrusive.

So working with DSC, the TCS traction control system and ABS braking function, ADC can significantly improve overall vehicle performance, and provide even more precise driving feel. It is amazing how quickly the XFR reacts to my inputs at the wheel and at the throttle when the systems are turned on or off. It is the perfect combination of electronic intervention when wanted and when no wanted to take the XFR to its limits with no electronic intervention. The perfect Jaguar!

Improving handling and response even more is the new ‘fast ratio’ steering rack, and additionally benefits from the further improvement front-to-rear aerodynamic balance offered by a new rear spoiler and deep front bumper. The wider stance, lower chassis height and its low overall aerodynamic drag coefficient of only 0.29 contributes to both low wind noise and inherent high-speed stability. Contributing even more is the already stiff body shell, the stiffest in its class, is a new rear subframe, a trunk cross-brace and a front cross brace.

Quickly and safely slowing the new XFR down from speed are massive 14.9in. front and 13.6in. internally ventilated power brakes. The front discs are clamped with 6-piston calipers while the rear features four-piston calipers. Enhancing braking power and control are standard ABS, Brake Assist and Electronic Brake Force Distribution. The pedal feel is very linear, a solid feel all the way from high speed to stop. These brakes completed the circle of super-high-performance acceleration and handling prowess.

The interior cabin truly matches the sportiness, comfort, and luxury under the skin of the new XFR. It is both modern, individual and uniquely Jaguar and hints at the car’s super-performance. It features a full soft grain leather interior standard including suede on the pillars and headliner. An electric sunroof to let in more air and sunlight when desired, and a new Dark Oak veneer set on the dashboard and door trim. Its new 18X14-way, heated/cooled front adjustable sports seats have newly shaped electrically adjustable squab bolsters for significantly improved lateral support at higher cornering speeds. Each XFR seat, front and rear, has the ‘R’ logo embroidered on it squab and the front seats have leather seat-back map pockets.

The leather-trimmed, heated, power tilting/telescoping, 3-spoke steering wheel feels perfect in your hand and is the right size for quick inputs. It also features its own ‘R’ logo at the bottom. The dashboard introduces a unique, dark mesh aluminum finish, and another discreet ‘R’ badge on the passenger side of the instrument panel. The easy to see instrument cluster’s speedometer and tachometer have the unique sporting signature of red dial pointers and carry the ‘supercharged’ motif. At startup, the ‘R’ logo appears on the Touch-screen as part of the XFR’s ‘driver handshake’ sequence.

The XFR is packed with user-friendly technologies such as full shift-by-wire transmission controlled by the JaguarDrive Selector, plus adaptive cruise control with Automatic Speed Limiter plus a radar-based Blind Spot Monitor warning you when there is another vehicle nearby in a different lane, and a rear parking aid TV camera with a clear view of the area behind the car on the Touch Screen while in reverse. The Touch-screen is now upgraded with on-screen guidance lines that move according to steering wheel angle to indicate the area into which the car will reverse. The Jaguar navigation system now includes turn-by-turn instructions in the message center. An Acoustic Laminated Windscreen is also set in place to help lower outside noise levels.

The XFR also comes with the incredible Bowers & Wilkins 440-watt system with Dolby ProLogic II surround sound and 14 speakers. The Portable Audio Interface allows simple, direct connection of iPod and MP3 players with full control via the Touch-screen or steering wheel-mounted controls. JaguarSense allows touch-sensitive operation for the glovebox release and interior lights-and those lights feature soft, Phosphor Blue interior mood lighting with Halo illumination around the key switch packs to ensure easy and positive night-time operation.

Digital and SIRIUS satellite radio with HD is also standard. Honda Releases New HSV-010 GT Racer

Honda officially introduced its all-new HSV-010 GT racing car with which it will compete in the GT500 class of the Japanese 2010 Super GT series. The HSV-010 GT, which will take the place of the racing variant of the NSX, is all that has been left from Honda's V10 powered supercar project that got canned at the end of 2008 due to the recession.

Instead of wasting all the work that went into the development of the Honda / Acura NSX's spiritual replacement, the Japanese firm decided to use the supercar as a base for its Super GT contender.

Although the HSV-010 GT keeps the unfinished production model's front-mounted engine, rear-wheel drive layout, Honda's engineers ditched the V10 powerplant in favor of a naturally-aspirated 3.4-liter V8 unit that churns out more than 500-horsepower and over 392Nm or 289 lb-ft of peak torque.

Honda says that the blacked-out racing model tips the scales at a little over 1,100 kg or about 2,425 pounds and features a double wishbone suspension all around, steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters for the transmission and a rack and pinion system with electric power steering.
