Born in 1995, Arfa Karim got the honor of World’s Youngest Microsoft Certified Professional when she was only 9 years old in 2004.

Bill Gates, the Chairman of Microsoft, invited Arfa to visit the Microsoft Headquarters in the USA in the age of 10 only.

Later, in August 2005, Arfa was also honored by the Pakistan Government for the Fatima Jinnah Gold Medal in the field of Science and Technology which she received from then Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.

She was also honored with Salaam Pakistan Youth Award in 2005 which has been set up by Pakistan’s only Nobel laureate Dr Abdul Salam. Moreover, Arfa has won the Presidential Award for Pride of Performance.

Arfa Karim remained in intensive care at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) after suffering an epileptic seizure and cardiac arrest a few weeks ago.

After battling for life for 26 days, one of Pakistan's brightest brains left this world for good.

Stealth cruise missile Hatf-VII test-fired successfully

Rawalpindi: Pakistan on Friday effectively test-fired the multi-tube, indigenously-developed, cruise missile Hatf-VII (Babur) with a range of 700 kilometers.

An extraordinary attribute of Friday’s launch was the substantiation of a new multi-tube MLV through the test. The three-tube MLV augments multiple the targeting and deployment options in the conventional and nuclear modes. With its shoot-and-scoot potential, the MLV offers a major force multiplier effect for target employment and survivability.

According to an ISPR press release, the missile test was conducted to validate the design parameters of the weapon system and a new Missile Launch Vehicle (MLV). Babur Cruise Missile is a low flying, terrain hugging missile with high maneuverability, pin-point accuracy and radar avoidance features. It can carry both nuclear and conventional warheads and has stealth capabilities. It also incorporates the most modern cruise missile technology, Terrain Contour Matching (TERCOM), Digital Scene Matching and Area Co-relation (DSMAC).

The test was eye-witnessed by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Director General Strategic Plans Division, Lieutenant General (Retd) Khalid Ahmed Kidwai, Commander Army Strategic Force Command, Lieutenant General Tariq Nadeem Gilani, Chairman National Engineering and Scientific Commission (NESCOM) Muhammad Irfan Burney, senior officers from the armed forces and strategic organizations, scientists and engineers.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani appreciated the triumphant test and praised the scientists and engineers on their exceptional achievement.

The test will strengthen Pakistan’s strategic deterrence capability and further reinforce national security.

Zimbabve Man Loves Prostitute Turned Donkey

HARARE: A man from Zimbabwe has deeply fallen in love with a donkey. Moyo, 28, was taken into custody in the town of Zvishavane, about 300 kilometres (185 miles) south of the capital Harare on Sunday.

He has informed the court that he hired a prostitute who at some stage in the night transformed into a donkey, and that now he is “seriously in love” with the animal, state media said Wednesday.

According to The Herald newspaper on Sunday Moyo said in the court, “I think I am also a donkey. I do not know what happened when I left the bar, but I am seriously in love with (the) donkey”.

He said he had compensated $25 for a prostitute, and was flabbergasted Sunday morning when he heeded people condemning him of having sex with a donkey.

The Court has charged Moyo on account of bestiality and furthered ordered him to go through a mental examination.

ISLAMABAD: Young Progressive Pharmacist Association (YPPA) was on strike yesterday in opposition to the verdict made by the Government to install the fresh pharmacists as Class-II Gazette Officer rather than Class-I Gazette Officer.

Following the successful dialogue with young doctors associations a new summary of revised scale system was planned by the ministry of health to reimburse young physicians. In accordance with the summary young physicians will have the benefit of the SPS-09 (equivalent to BPS-18) while young pharmacist is relapsed back to SPS-07(equivalent to BPS-16) and integrated in the list of paramedic staff.

Mubasir Ahmed, Vice president Pakistan pharmacist association says, "The summary has been signed by the Prime Minster without the consultation of the pharmacists. Senior pharmacists who are the part of health ministry and involved in policy making are playing political game and destroying the career of thousand of pharmacists working in Pakistan".

He added, "Pharmacists are more competent and have more knowledge regarding drugs management than that of physicians so government should treat both these medical experts equally but due to the unawareness, general public don't know the role of a drug specialist."

According to DG health Dr. Asad Hafeez, "All the pharmacists who were enrolled in public sector as first class officers will be shifted to grade 16 according to the new summary".

Anam Niazi, Student pharmacist UOL says, "We are totally confused and frustrated about the future of pharmacist in Pakistan. This was the only hope in public sector for a pharmacist to be the drug inspector but government has snatched that post from us. We will continue the strike until and unless the pharmacists are not given all those benefits which have been granted to the physicians because both possess equivalent qualification and academic duration”.

Raymond Davis Sent To Jail in Pakistan

LAHORE: Today on Friday, The Lahore High Court has sent Raymond Davis, a US official, to jail on a judicial remand of 14 days. This happened as Punjab Police has reached to a decision contrary to what was the claim of Raymond that whatever he did was for his self defense.
Punjab government prosecutor Abdul Samad shared with media, “He has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days. The next hearing will be on February 25”.
Lahore Police Chief Aslam Tareen told reporters, "It was clear cut murder. Witnesses told police that Davis kept firing even when one of the men was running away. It means he wanted to ensure that that they were killed ".

This is all the result of Jan 26 shooting by US officer, Raymond Davis, in which 2 people were killed and a pedestrian died by the accident of an embassy car which came to aid him. Raymond was surrounded by the local people on the scene. When police came and arrested Raymond then he claimed that he shot the two men in self defense because they were trying to rob him. Police also found two pistols with the dead bodies of the killed Pakistani locals.
After that US embassy in Pakistan claimed that held official is a diplomat and has got the immunity therefore. This is still an issue to be solved. Pakistan foreign office has not yet spoken in this regard except what we heard from foreign office spokesman that the case is in court and no comments on immunity can be passed outside court.
Davis' lawyer also today filed a petition, confronting the court's jurisdiction over the case. Arguments on this petition will be heard on February 25 by a judge.
This incident has also injured the friendly relationship between the two countries. Pakistan is under an immense pressure by the US. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as said by the State Department, has lifted the matter with Pakistani officials and the U.S. ambassador to Pakistan, Cameron Munter had meetings with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and phone talk with the PML (N) leader Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif on the issue. Pakistan has also been threatened by the US congress members in their meetings with Pakistani officials to be ready for the cuts in the US funding to Pakistan.
Rep. Howard "Buck" McKeon said on Tuesday after arriving to Washington from meetings in Pakistan and Afghanistan, "We indicated it could very well be" that the United States might consider withholding funding,”.
Rep. John Klein said, "It is entirely possible that a member of Congress would come down and offer an amendment to cut funding for Pakistan, based on their detaining Mr. Davis, and my guess is there would be a lot support for such an amendment, frankly because of the outrage of detaining an American with diplomatic immunity," .
The case has ignited some protest and stimulated anti-American sentiments in Pakistan. The case has become a time-bomb for the government as Pakistani nationals have taken a hard line that they want blood for blood or exchange of Pakistani nationals , Dr. Afia specially , prisoners in USA and Guantanamo-be. Local lawyers also disagree on diplomatic immunity of Davis and believe that there is no diplomatic immunity according to international diplomatic principles for grave crimes.

GM Earns $2 Billion in 3rd Quarter Before IPO

The NASA-led team has published six papers in American journal describing the findings of the 9 October, 2009, impacts of the LCROSS spacecraft and its companion rocket stage.

The pair was targeted at the Moon's southern pole - at Cabeus Crater, a depression so deep and dark that the likelihood of disturbing ice were thought to be very good.

The rocket stage went in first, followed a few minutes later by the LCROSS probe which gathered imagery and other data just before it too hit into the surface.

Another spacecraft, NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO), was passing close by. It also was able to study the trail of material ejected into sunlight more than 15km above the circumference of Cabeus.

Scientists studied the full results of this experiment and found that the impacts kicked up large amounts of rock and dust, revealing a collection of fascinating chemical compounds and far more water than anyone had expected.

A NASA-led team tells Science magazine that about 155kg of water vapor and water-ice were blown out of the crater.

The researchers' analysis suggests the lunar soil at the impact site contains 5.6% by weight of water-ice.

Anthony Colaprete, from the US space agency's Ames research center said:

"That's a significant amount of water, and it's in the form of water-ice grains. That's good news because water-ice is very much a friendly resource to work with. You don't have to warm it very much; you just have to bring it up to room temperature to pull it out of the dirt real easy."

And he added:

"If you took just the 10km region around the impact site and say it had 5% water - that would be equivalent to about a billion gallons of water. I'm not saying that's what's there, but it just shows you that even at these small concentrations there's potential for lots of water."

President Zardari meets UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon

U.N Secretary General Ban Ki-moon travelled to Pakistan on Sunday where he urged international donors to step up aid for millions of victims of the country's worst humanitarian tragedy. The U.N chief met both Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani and President Asif Aliz Zardari to discuss relief efforts.

The floodwaters have swamped thousands of villages and towns, washed away roads, key bridges, crops, and livestock. Pakistan’s sources say that the shocking floods, triggered by heavy monsoon rains, have disrupted lives of up to 20-million people across the country.

U.N Secretary General Ban Ki-moon says his visit to Pakistan's flood-hit areas was meant to share his sympathy and unity of the United Nations with both the government and the Pakistani people.

Mr. Ban said, "I am here also to urge the world community to speed up their assistance to Pakistan people".

The United Nations has appealed for 460-million dollars to deal with the instant repercussion of the floods. But U.N officials say foreign aid has been slow in coming and only 20 percent of its initial appeal has arrived so far.

Mr. Ban said, "We will try to mobilize all necessary assistance and remember that the whole world is behind the people of Pakistan in this time of trial".

New Sanctions Imposed On Iran by Security Council

The UN Security Council has voted in favor of fresh sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program. Fourth round of sanctions included tighter finance curbs and an expanded arms ban.
The new sanctions were passed after Iran negotiations with Russia and China ended on Tuesday.
The Security Council imposed sanctions by 12 to 2 and 1 abstention. Resolution was opposed by Turkey and Brazil and Lebanon abstained whereas the other 12 members voted.

US President Barrack Obama said the sanctions were an “unmistakable message” on stopping the spread of nuclear arms.

Iran's President Mahmud Ahmadinejad said that the sanctions should be thrown in the dustbin like a "used handkerchief".

The most awaited result of Great Britain elections has
come and as predicted it shows a hung parliament. The Conservatives won most seats but not enough to secure a majority and are looking to the third-biggest party, the Liberal Democrats, for support to form a government.

Gordon Brown, showing character after getting fewer seats than conservatives, says he "respects" the right of Mr. Clegg to negotiate to David Cameron first. But if that fails he recommended Labor could do a deal with the Lib Democrats.

Conservative leader Mr. Cameron said he wants to make a "big, open and comprehensive offer" to the Liberal Democrats to "work together" in the national interest.

Mr. Clegg began meeting his frontbench MPs at 1030 BST and will meet his wider parliamentary party at 1200 BST to discuss Mr. Cameron's proposals in the result of general election to constitute a hung parliament since 1974. The party's federal executive, its governing body, will meet at 1700 BST.

Simon Hughes of Lib Democrats is hopeful that two parties will agree on working together but at the same time he wants liberal democrats not to forget their principles.

He says, “We will also make sure we don't betray our principles”.

Pakistani Origin suspect arrested in New York on Times Square Bomb Plan

Faisal Shahzad, an American citizen who is originally from Pakistan, has been arrested in connection with the failed car-bomb attack in New York City on Saturday evening.

US Attorney General Eric Holder said Mr. Shahzad was held at John F Kennedy Airport in New York on Monday as he attempted to leave for Dubai.

Mr. Holder also said, "This investigation is ongoing, as are our attempts to gather useful intelligence, and we continue to pursue a number of leads."

He added: "We will not rest until we have brought everyone responsible to justice."

Police said that they had tracked down the registered owner of the dark, 1993 Nissan Pathfinder that contained the crude home-made bomb but he was not a suspect. He sold his car three weeks ago to a man described as of Hispanic or Middle Eastern appearance, aged about 30 which is now claimed to be Faisal Shahzad.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmud Qureshi said on Tuesday that Pakistan will provide full cooperation to the United States over New York bomb plot.

The senior Pakistani government official said, “Pakistan and the US have ongoing, robust cooperation on counter-terrorism. If required, we will extend fullest cooperation to US."

Chinese President Hu Jintao, during the gala opening in which 2,300 performers and musicians from all over the world took part, declared,

“Expo 2010 Shanghai is now open!"

Chinese local media report that the cost of producing the event could be as much as $58bn (£38bn) - more than was spent on the Beijing Olympics in 2008. Some estimates say this figure could finally be even higher.

It also reports that Shanghai has increased security measures significantly for the event. An added 8,000 police officers have been brought in to help Shanghai's 46,000-strong police force to guard the city.

Facebook Twitter deal failed

Facebook talks with Twitter to acquire it against evaluation of as much as dollar 500 million which continued several weeks has failed.

CNG stations will be close for 24 hours in Pakistan

As part of energy conservation plan, the government of Pakistan has decided to close all CNG stations across country for 24 hours starting from 6am Tuesday to 6am Wednesday.

Those who will defy the orders would be arrested.

G.M. Sui Northern told a local TV channel that the CNG Associations have acknowledged the directions. Gas would be sidetracked from gas stations and fertilizers to power generation plants.

IPL Chief Sacked After The Final Match

The Indian cricket board (BCCI), which owns the IPL, has sacked Mr. Lalit K. Modi after the government launched a tax probe into alleged financial irregularities in the high-profile Twenty20 event.

A statement from the president BCCI, Shashank Manohar (R) said,

“The alleged acts of individual misdemeanors of Mr. Lalit K. Modi, chairman IPL and vice president BCCI, have brought a bad name to the administration of cricket and the game itself.”

Businessman Chirayu Amin, who runs a pharmaceutical business in the western city of Vadodara, has been named the interim chief of the IPL. He is one of the five vice-presidents of the BCCI and a member of the IPL's governing council.

He said, “A number of documents were missing from the IPL office which tax officials had been asking for.”

Mr. Modi has denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

After the IPL final in an address to the crowd, he insisted that the league was "clean and transparent".

"There have been some off-field unpleasant dramas based on the unknown, half-truths and motivated leaks from all sorts of sources," he said.

"I reassure you that if there has been any flouting of the rules and regulations or if there have been any irregularities, I shall take full responsibility."

Arsenal loses hope after defeat from Tottenham

After a damaging 2-1 defeat at bitter north London against Tottenham, Arsenal has lost hope of winning the English Premier League title.

Arsenal could not find their way past an obstinate Tottenham defense and the home side took the lead with a surprise goal from debutant Danny Rose.

Teenage midfielder Rose reacted first to goalkeeper Manuel Almunia's punch out, hitting an unstoppable 10th minute volley into the net.

And Tottenham increased their lead in the first minute of the second half when Gareth Bale found himself in space to crack the ball past Almunia.

Arsenal introduced striker Robin van Persie as a substitute with 25 minutes remaining but this move was of no good.

They finally pulled a goal back when Nicklas Bendtner puts Theo Walcott's right-wing cross in net.

Ahmadinejad also blamed the United States of encouraging nuclear proliferation through its policies by referring to the signing of an arms deal between the United States and Russia this week -- including comments by U.S. President Obama that the U.S. goal is a world without nuclear weapons -- Ahmadinejad called it "a show performed by the United States" and "a great lie".

British PM calls, May 6, the date for general election

After months of waiting, the general election were officially announced by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown when he went to Buckingham Palace to seek the dissolution of Parliament.
Mr. Prime Minister fired the starting gun Tuesday on a month-long election race, setting May 6 as the date for voting which is hoped to be the closest-run poll for a generation.
Speaking outside Downing Street, Mr Brown described the official announcement of the May 6 election date as the “least well-kept secret of recent years.”
He further said, “Britain is on the road to recovery and nothing we do should put that recovery at risk,”.
Conservative leader David Cameron said that his party offers hope, optimism and change and a fresh start to the country.
