Karina specializes in drawing, illustration, murals, video, calligraphy and typography.

Her portfolio reveals a versatile artist equally adept at colorful surrealist explorations as well as more traditional approaches.

Karina’s work is connected to the notions of nature, peace and love. Influenced by Earth and space, she delicately transforms floral motives into her own surreal, psychedelic scenes, rebelling against the remorseless actions of society and the continual destruction of the environment.

Karina was fond of drawing since childhood, she studied classical art disciplines in St. Petersburg, fine art education in Sweden, contemporary art in Moscow, in 2011 Karina studied media art in Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Since 2014 Karina is based in London and now she is studying in the Central Saint Martins University of Arts.

She has been published in various international books and magazines and has collaborated with several musicians for video and album-cover projects.

Since 2006 Eika takes a part in a creative collective called Dopludo, which consists of three people. Being born into a use and throw culture, I have found an interest for consumerism, and the way we value objects. Since I started my practice I have been observing how people relate to objects; it is these observations I am trying to explore in my photographs.

My findings have showed me that people take everyday objects for granted, for example a plastic bag or a Brillo pad. You use them for a couple of things, carry your groceries or scrub your dishes. By removing the objects from their original function, I am forcing the viewer to look at the object as an aesthetic thing rather than a useful thing. I challenge society’s perceptions of everyday objects, because these objects are of such normality they become surreal in a photograph.

What started as an obsession for objects has now grown into an interest for the object itself, and an obsession for taking photos of them. By choosing familiar objects that most people can relate to, I create art that can be understood and interpreted on several levels and by most people.

For the project ‘Plastic Bag Landscapes’ I use plastic bags, which I have found in the street. By using light and different colored cardboard, I play with perspective. When the studio lights hits the plastic and the colors shine through, the plastic bag does not look like a plastic bag anymore, but makes the plastic bag look like an imaginary landscape.

I merge commercial and fine art practices, by combining the carefully arranged and the accidental. My images hoover between the casual and deliberate. I often approach my work in an editorial way, retouching and spending a lot of my time working on the image in post-production. This is a way for me to study my work in a more careful manner. It is a time where I can reflect and consider it. Although what I enjoy most about making photographs is to create the sets, the lighting and the placement of the object and the camera. Because for me that’s what it’s really about. Not just clicking a button, but create an image as a whole.

Based in Berlin, but originally coming from Lithuania (go east from Denmark and down from Finnland), Juli Jah is one very talented & fresh artist. Working primarily with pencil, ink, rotrings and watercolours, she creates truly different drawings from outer space. Probably it is the very details that make her surreal twisted pictures so ace. The fact is that every single piece she draws delivers a message and, as a result, makes you look at it twice.
With a pencil and paper, artist Dukhoon Gim captures a dreamlike world of extraordinary sensitivity with a subtle, humorous touch, While reflecting on his penciled world, Gim comments that, “ familiar things feel strange from time to time.” The serenity of the artist’s works draws us to look closer; In his Weeping Willows series, the mysteries behind the willow trees are quietly amplified by hundreds and thousands of intricate textures.

They are singular in their pursuit of abstraction.

What we have here is a meta picture, a picture of a picture, the texture of the initial image flattened through the process of photography, an abstraction of an abstract image.

They are colorful and vibrant, luscious and sensual and we can’t help but be drawn into an interior world that brings to mind a plethora of images: flowers, barbed wire, threads, water, telephone lines and rain drops on a window pane. This is a Pollock inspired explosion of artistic energy, a primal desire to create for its own sake, to make a formal beauty out of chance and chaos. These pictures are the product of an artist who has spent his life with inks & presses and has taken that work to a creative conclusion, pushing the medium to its limit.

Now in his early sixties Lovejoy has led an interesting life – it reads like a beat novel or a Country Western song – he has travelled much, worked as a printer for nearly 35 years and is now making art that attempts to encapsulate a fascinating journey from Texas to Greece and Iran to India, all the time picking up textures, colors, forms, ideas, thoughts, all the time processing, making, doing. This is his expression of a life as color.”
