Here is a little behind the scenes look into how I do my vocal recordings.
This is a cover of "Stay," Originally performed by Rihanna, co-written by Mikky Ekko and Justin Parker. I love the simplicity and honesty of this song and really enjoyed singing it.

New Website Coming Soon!

2013-05-10T21:43:00.000-04:00

Just a quick update.
I will be going live with my new website very soon.
I still love the current version, just needed some updates to reflect my new music and artistic direction.

The new site will be featuring some new images taken by the oh-so-talented Erika Murray who just happens to be my sister. I'll share one here, since it's already my Facebook Fan page pic :)

I have been slowly working on my third album for months. I am still very much in the pre-production stage but getting very close.
I know who I am working with and what it's all gonna sound like, so I am excited for things to unravel.

* Thank goodness for warmer weather... there may be more distractions, but the inspiration is vast!

VGO

2013-01-22T23:51:00.000-05:00

Happy New Year everyone!

Those of you who follow the posts on my facebook Fan Page have surely noticed my recent performances with a group called The Video Game Orchestra.
I have received a lot of interest and many questions about this, so I wanted to share here on my blog!

The VGO describes themselves as, "a Boston-based group that performs its own "rockestral" arrangements of music from popular video games with a rock band, orchestra, and choir!"
This group is made up of genuinely talented, gracious and kind musicians who I am grateful to have the honor to work with!

I was called to perform as a featured soloist with the "VGO" at their amazing Boston Symphony Hall performance, which culminated the end of their successful Kickstarter campaign. (See clips below)
I have since performed with the group at AnimeUSA and MAGfest. Every performance is a complete blast. The energy in the crowd is always amazing and I have had such a great time singing songs that mean so much to many people.
I know when I hear anything from Mario Bros. I turn into a 10 year old again, all giddy and excited, so I can relate!

I will be performing with them again this February and am looking foreword to it.
I am attaching a few photos and video clips from these performances. Enjoy!

Happy Holidays!

2012-12-10T10:44:00.001-05:00

Happy Holidays!

I am a person who is obsessed with all things 1920's-1950's and the music of the Big Band Era.

So, for this year's holiday Video Blog I covered Kay Starr's

"(Everybody's Waitin' For The) Man With The Bag."

I love this song, it always makes me smile and want to do a little swing :)

Ask yourself what do vintage holiday pictures and silliness with Santa have in common? The answer my friends, is this video!

What can I say, Christmas brings out the kid in me!

❄ I am wishing everyone a wonderful Holiday and a bright and promising New Year!

Hurricanes, Chicago and Serendipity!

2012-09-01T15:20:00.001-04:00

Oopsie, it's been a long time since I updated my blog! I have a ton of exciting updates, which I am happy to share.

I will be performing at the Cutting Edge Music Conference and Festival in New Orleans Sept. 29th. I am thrilled to have been invited to showcase at this amazing conference.
I will be performing with some amazing local musicians at the famed Irvin Mayfield's IClub.
Times, Map and More info HERE

Some things are too serendipitous to pass up! I have literally been obsessed with New Orleans for a year. Some of the new album I am creating has what I am calling a "Louisiana Swamp Stomp" vibe so I made it my mission to travel down to NOLA for "research." Yes my research may have involved drinking hurricanes and dancing to Dixieland bands, but that counts... in my opinion. So when I got the invite I had to answer, YES! (I may have shrieked it a little)
Here is hoping the only hurricanes I encounter on my trip are the sweet, cold and blended kind!

Also coming up will be my NEW website! I am going to be unveiling a total overhaul of my website very soon. Lots of new media, and fun perks to be added. Don't worry, the "auto play" will be gone Forever! I hate it too! You will now have the option to play songs at your discretion :)

The Big news is that I am going to start pre-production on the new album this winter. It's official, no more procrastinating. I will be recording a large portion of it in lovely Chicago, Il, which I am thrilled about! Another serendipitous event, as I've been equally obsessed with Chicago for quite some time. Some of you know my sister and several BFF's live in the windy city, and it's also a hot seat for Blues music.
Don't worry, I'll be recording the other portion of the album in my wonderful city Boston. Too many amazing musicians to work with here!

I can't wait to dive in and begin another musical AND physical journey! If you like my bluesy material you will love the new songs!

As always, friend and fan support means everything to me. I am glad to bring y'all along for the ride if you want to come!

I wish everyone a fantastic end of Summer and an exciting and fun Fall!- Ingrid

What's Next?

2012-02-23T23:51:00.000-05:00

Well, it has been a long and fulfilling two years

working on and then promoting my second album, "Shed!"

I am extremely proud of it and thankful to have been able to share it with so many new listeners.

As you can imagine, I'm a little tired! I'm going to take about a month or so off and just rest.

What's next?

I am SO excited to announce that I will begin work on my third original album very soon. I have already been compiling songs for it and I can't wait to get into the studio and record again.

I will be taking my sweet time this go round, however. It's extremely important to me to get it right. I am getting back in touch with my roots and I plan to get very real on this project. It's all about being genuine and having authentic sounds!

Anyway- keep listening to my albums and spreading the music around, I'll be back with more in no time!

As always thank you to everyone out there who supports my music.

- Ingrid

-Since I'm dreaming of warmer weather I'll be remembering my trip to the Turks and Caicos Islands where I shot my music video. Here are some unseen screen grabs from that shoot. Sunrise to Sunset!

Remembering to give back this Holiday season!

2011-11-18T11:56:00.002-05:00

✵❄✵❄✵❄✵❄✵❄✵❄✵❄✵❄✵❄✵❄✵

I like to donate annually, every December, to my top four charities as a way to give back but also to remind myself what the holiday spirit is all about.

I think it's easy to get caught up in the day to day hustle and bustle and also far too easy to hope someone else is "doing something about it."

This year I thought I would share my favorites in hopes of inspiring more giving. My feeling is that, no matter how small, giving what you can makes a difference.

*I am in no way affiliated with any of these organizations, they are just causes I strongly care about. There are so many others I would gladly champion as well, and I encourage everyone to educate themselves on what is out there. Happy Holidays!

My Top Four Charities are:

❤ I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something I can do.

Update City!

2011-07-01T11:35:00.004-04:00

Hey All! Just wanted to shoot out some updates for the coming months.

I am still in the midst of a great blues radio campaign, which has been a lot of fun. I will be performing live and giving an interview Aug 27th on WUML 91.5FM Lowell, MA at 3pm on their Blues Deluxe show so stay tuned for that!

Several tracks on the album have been licensed to retail giants Gilly Hicks, a division of Abercrombie and Fitch, and Arden B, for national airplay on their in-store radio stations.

Songs from the album will also be heard on Showtime’s The L Word and the MTV programs Teen Wolf, The Hard Times of RJ Berger, Moving In and The World of Jenks.

Upcoming Tour! Starting this October I will be traveling all over the East Coast playing shows. I’ll be performing songs from Shed and maybe some new tunes! I have already been writing 2 new albums! I am super inspired lately and have a lot of music I want to record.

Remix’s! Ever wonder how my music would sound over a hard core house or dubstep track?! Well I’ve got three awesome dance re-mix’s coming up that will answer that question. I think you’ll be dancing to them big time! Look for them late July.

This summer I am performing every weekend at private functions with my other band The Boston Players, but when the season wraps look out for new Ingrid Gerdes original music and shows!

If you still haven’t seen my new music video go check it out now. Here is one of my favorite shots from the shoot!

Shed

Oops I didn’t know that you were so
Sensitive that I couldn’t tell you
All of the ways you screwed up,
Our relationship

Guess I didn’t notice you growing
Some new emotions and losing your backbone
But I wouldn’t recognize what I’ve never seen
Before

So don’t you point you finger at me
I’ll give up my silence to find some relief
You had you chance to make your amends
But you didn’t take it

So I’m gonna shed
All these emotions
I’ve been wearing around
Gonna shed
all your lying skin
It’s just weighing me down
Weighing me down

Thought I cleaned my blood of your venom
Yet here you are still spreading your poison
The face you don’t show is the one that I know
All too well

With your colors you like to fool them but
Never again will I be your victim
Now I am your mirror reflecting to you your
Fiction

So I’m gonna shed
All these emotions
I’ve been wearing around
Gonna shed
all your lying skin
It’s just weighing me down
Weighing me down
