I had the pleasure of meeting sweet little 5 week old Alexandra and her family, 4 generations deep. She is the first baby for mom Shawna and dad Matthew. I love when I can include grandparents and even great grandparents into a newborn shoot. What a fantastic way to celebrate new life and honor those loved ones who came before. She was a complete angel baby with the most gorgeous eyes and lips. I couldn’t help but gush. =) I even had the honor of photographing Alexandra with her 2 year old cousin CJ who was an absolute champ when it came to holding his new little cousin.

I’m adding a new product to my offerings that make great brag books, save-the-dates, favors, and birth announcements. They measure 3×3″ and have a magnetic closure to protect your display inside. You can also open it up and have it displayed on your desk or dresser. I think they are so fun and adorable! They are $30 each or 3 for $60.

Colton & Laney

I teamed up with fellow photographer Stephanie of The Hip Studio to photograph Colton and Laney in Stone Ridge, VA today. These sweet little ones decided they wanted to make their debut 6 weeks ahead of their due date. Photographing twins is always a bit of an adventure, but these little ones did really well with some creative maneuvering and a dollop of patience on our part. Thanks to Dana and John for giving us a little baby fix. =)

Lauren & Brian

I had the great honor and privilege to work alongside my sweet and talented friend Elizabeth Leighton. We photographed the nuptials of the absolutely gorgeous Lauren and her dashing groom Brian at the Grey Rock Mansion in Pikesville, MD. Lauren and Brian are beautiful both inside and out. They are easy-going and kindhearted. Even though we were working their wedding, they made us feel like a part of their family. The details were perfect. Especially their donation to ASPCA in lieu of wedding favors. That got me choked up. You don’t see enough of that kind of generosity and selflessness these days and it made me adore this couple even more.

Carter and Julia: One Year Later

What a difference a year makes! You may remember Carter and Julia from my blog last year. They sure have sprouted since I last photographed them. Funny how kids do that. Carter and I went exploring through the United States Botanic Garden in DC. What a cool place! They even have a special children’s garden where Carter got to make a lavender sachet for his mom. The landscape inside and out is divine.

Meet the ultra-fabulous Julia Perez. She is the queen of sugaring and facials in San Diego. What is sugaring? According to Wikipedia:

Sugaring is a method of epilation that is similar to waxing, and, for that reason, is “often called sugar waxing or Persian waxing.” It has been in use since 1900 BC, “when a hairless and smooth body was considered the standard of youth, beauty and innocence for women in Egypt.” Sugaring can be less painful than waxing, because the substrate sticks to the hair without attaching to the skin, may be applied at room temperature or heated to a lukewarm temperature, preventing burning.

So if you’re in San Diego and looking to be beautified, book an appointment with Julia STAT. She rocks. And she’ll turn you to a pile of happy, smooth mush. My sister came to visit us for two weeks from Oregon and my dear friend and makeup artist extraordinaire Kevan was kind enough to enhance Erika’s lovely features. Kevan rocks the brush and color palette, let me tell you. She hails from Hollywood and kicks butt.

The Newest Little San Diegan

Lisa and Kevin welcomed their new little boy Kadin into the world a week before I flew into San Diego. I was honored to capture his first portraits. He had the most awesome Shar Pei-like wrinkles I’ve ever seen on a baby. I was beside myself with his cuteness. =)

Niederfrank’s Ice Cream in San Diego

I’m back home in San Diego for a week and stopped in to a long-time San Diego classic… Niederfrank’s in National City. They’ve been around since the 1940′s and their ice cream selection is a mixture of classics and originals. I tried their Thai Tea and Chocolate Mexicano and it was to die for. If you love Thai Tea, you’ll love Niederfrank’s ice cream version. It was Heaven. If you live in San Diego or are in town visiting, I can’t recommend them enough. They are located at 726 A Avenue, National City, CA 91950-2229 (corner of A & 8).
