Excellent article, well said. It is incredibly sad to me that people of whatever religious persuasion sacrifice so much of their lives and dismiss the value of the time they have on this earth all for the sake of their religion. For so many the choice of religion happens to be a matter of geography and time (as you mention in your article). I'm sure an honest theist would agree that whether religions or skeptic, a person who lives their life by truth, dignity and honor is better than someone who follows a moral code simply out of fear of punishment. How many atrocities have occurred throughout history because of religious doctrine; things that a moral person without religious motivation would abhor? If for some chance there is a god and people are simply hedging their bets by practicing religion in one form or another, would such a god truly be pleased? Or would he value the individual who had a true heart and aimed to live their life in the best way they could? If god could read hearts, where would the scales balance?

I think the only people doubting God are those who have not experienced God. This argument I think is explained easily. The bible was written in Greek and Hebrew. You can get a bible which translates the original text word for word and then read the NIV version of the bible and then it is clear that the words and sentances added are simply to make it easier to read. Good article and great question!

What a great thing that man did! He can sleep at night knowing he saved that child's life when her own parents would not do so...I only hope that child gets well and grows up knowing the truth of the matter.

Great post.

I heard my local public radio station, OPB, use the term 'missing link' to describe this fossil. I couldn't believe what I was hearing! As a nation we need to clearly define the terms we use when talking about evolution. Missing link, theory, and others are constantly misused.

interesting about the word symposium, but also interesting that most of the world doesn't realize that the cross is a phallic symbol for a male organ, might as well just put a cock around your neck.
