Merry Christmas To All!

Hello Everyone!
I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving and that your holiday plans are not too stressful yet! Today I'm sharing a Christmas card I made using the Giant Poinsettia (093M), which I haven't used in forever it seems. It is definitely one of my favorite flowers DRS Designs offers!

I colored this image with Copic markers and loved every minute of it! The way the leaves are drawn really shows off dimension when shaded. I matted the image in green and then added some yellow rhinestones to embellish the flower center. I stamped the Christmas Especially To You Greeting (618E) at the bottom of heavy, red cardstock for the card front. It was partially embossed with a polka dotted embossing folder above and below the greeting and then I scored a couple lines as shown to isolate the greeting from the embossed decor. The card base was made from light blue cardstock to form a 4.25" x 5.5" card and I assembled it with the stamped image centered in the upper portion and then adhered the card front to the card base. It was pretty simple overall and so very festive!

Give Thanks!

Can you believe Thanksgiving is next week? Time is flying by and I can't seem to catch up! Unfortunately I missed last week's DRS Designs Blog Challenge, but I'm glad I found time to play in this week's beautiful color challenge. Here's the inspiration photo:

I thought these colors were perfect for the Bountiful Basket (791L) which is perfect for this time of year, especially paired with the Give Thanks Bible Verse (585E).

I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils and sponged around it with brown ink. It was adhered on a red scallop square. I stamped the sentiment on the bottom portion of the center panel and then layered it with yellow cardstock and then again with red cardstock that was punched to create the decorative border. Three fishtail banners were added to the left side and the matted image was adhered as shown on the right side. The card base was made from brown cardstock to form an A2 size card and the layered panel was adhered in the center to complete this card.

Joy To You!

It's almost release time over at DRS Designs! The next batch of Christmas stamps will be available for purchase very soon. This release has inspired me to get a head start on my Christmas cards this year. Only 5 more weeks and the big day will be here! Are you ready? At this point I'm definitely not, but it's a relief to know that I do have things underway!

Here's one of the cards I recently made to show off the new Joy To You Christmas Circle (640G), which I'm really beginning to love! There's something I love about circular stamps like this and with it being stamped in red, I love how it really stands out! It's nice that this stamp has a Christmas feel without saying the word "Christmas" too. I think the line "in big ways and small ways" would make this a nice holiday thank you card as well.

I stamped the Triple Holly (1004F) repeatedly on the card front to create my own background paper. Once colored, it seemed to have come to life and it is really festive! I'm considering making more as I get into full swing, card-making mode to mass produce a bunch of backgrounds for the cards I send to all my stamping friends. The background is definitely what brings this card all together. A few brads, some embossed cardstock and some gorgeous red glitter ribbon made this card complete!

Autumn Happiness!

Finally, sometime to myself to stamp and blog! Things have been so hectic here--we now have my 4 year old son into ice skating lessons, we are often fighting the temper tantrums of both boys, my Husbands crazy work schedule leaves me with all the house-hold chores more often than I'd like to count, and I'm already feeling the pressure of the holidays that has me shopping more now than I normally do. Did I mention how much homework a preschooler brings home?!?!? Makes me wonder what his homework load will be like in a few years!! Craziness!

At any rate, DH and I have really been making an honest effort to get both boys ready for bed around 7pm so they can hopefully be sleeping by 8pm. I know that probably sounds pretty routine for most families with little ones, but it's really a struggle for us, since we a just sitting down for dinner around 6:30pm. Thankfully, it's been working and it's allowed for a bit more "me" time, which I've been loving! This Happy Thankful People Greeting (612G) from DRS Designs couldn't be more true! I am thankful for my family and being with them makes me happy, despite the hecticness!

I created this card for the DRS Designs Blog Challenge from last week, but never got around to blogging about. The challenge was "Pile It High," using layers on your challenge entry. First I created the card front using light blue cardstock and then I stamped the Tree Limb (568P) vertically on the far right side and then the Autumn Leaf Pile (575F) was stamped in the center at the bottom. I sponged blue ink above the leaf pile and green ink at the very bottom edge for grass. Next, I stamped the leaf pile again on white cardstock, colored with Copic Markers, and then cut it out and adhered in place in the scene I created on my card front. The greeting was stamped in the empty space as shown and then I drew a line around the edge of the card front omitting the stamped portions to complete the look. The card front was matted with a piece of yellow-orange cardstock to match the color scheme before finally adhering it on to a turquoise cardstock base. I really like the look of this card as it was and decided not to embellish it any further. Sort of funny how this card has a few layers, yet it's still completely flat!

Dream Big!

Now that Halloween is over many people forget about Thanksgiving and immediately jump to Christmas. Our local radio station included. They started playing Christmas music on Monday! Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas and all the hecticness that goes with it, but with Fall being my favorite time of year, I like to enjoy the leaves, the pumpkins, the harvest and Thanksgiving itself.

However, since were on the topic of skipping holidays and seasons, with my post today I thought I would follow suit and skip right to Spring since I'm not a fan of the cold weather, LOL! The card I'm sharing today is for a graduation, complete with Spring colors and all!

I started by coloring the Hot Air Balloon (583F) with Copic Markers, fussy cut it out, and then matted it as shown. I created my own pattern paper by stamping the Double Chevron Card Edger (904P) with dark pink ink. Some blue cardstock and this pattern paper created the card front. Next, I hid the seam between the 2 pieces of cardstock with yellow ribbon tied in a knot to match my color scheme. I stamped the "Dream Big" Graduation Greeting (041F) in the lower right corner and adhered the matted image in the upper left corner. I finished it off by adding rhinestones to the upper right portion.

So, I guess I already have a head start on greeting cards for 2016! That's what I love about this last release from DRS Designs--there's so much variety and the themes you can create with them are endless. I hope you've enjoyed this release as much as I have!

Save The Earth!

Hi Everyone!

I got creative in making this card for the current DRS Designs blog challenge. The theme is "Tasty" and I know a few people in my family would agree that beer is exactly that!

I used the brand new World Map Background (572P) as my focal point and colored it with Copic Markers. I fussy cut it out and adhered it onto a piece of Ivory card stock. I created the card base from tan card stock to measure for an A2 size card. I distressed the edges with brown ink and stamped the Only Planet With Chocolate greeting (806D) but I omitted the word "chocolate." I replaced it with the word "beer" from the Beer Is The Answer (486G) stamp. I stamped the Small Beer Mug (528C), colored it with Copic Markers and fussy cut it out to use as an embellishment. I assembled the card front as shown and my card was complete!

In All Things, Give Thanks!

I love the Fall and even more so, I'm really excited that Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Despite how hectic the holidays can be, I love all the togetherness! There's nothing more rewarding then lots of time with extended family and to me, that's what the holidays are all about.

Since I was in a Thanksgiving kind-of mood, I made this Thanksgiving card! for the new challenge on the DRS Designs blog this week, "Fall-ing For You."

I started by stamping and coloring the Autumn Flower Spray (452L) with Copic Markers. I used a Nestability die to cut it out and then sponged brown ink around it while it was still in the die. Next, it was matted with brown and yellow card stock cut from Nestability dies. I stamped the *NEW* Give Thanks Bible Verse (585E) on yellow card stock and cut it out with a fishtail die. The green card stock that was used to mat it was cut out the same way. The card stock base was made from brown card stock to form an A2 size card, and the stamped portions were adhered in place as shown. I cut a tab from green card stock and added three yellow pearls to embellish the upper left corner of the matted image and this card was complete!

Whooo's Special

Hi Stampers!

Hope you are all doing well today!

I'm excited that DRS Designs has some new stamps coming out very soon! This time of year, I get busy making cards for all of the holidays that I often forget about making cards for other occasions, like birthdays etc. One of the best things about this next release is that there is a little bit of everything in it--this release is not just for Autumn and Thanksgiving! For the sneak peek I'm sharing today, the Woodgrain Background (626P) is one of the new stamps soon-to-be released and it was used here to create the tree on this birthday card!

In this little scene, I stamped and colored Oswald Owl (132H) with Copic Markers and cut him out. I stamped a piece of tan card stock with the woodgrain background and then distressed the edges with brown ink. I used an oval die to cut out the center and adhered natural twine around the opening. I embossed a piece of black card stock with a woodgrain embossing folder to add some dimension to my tree-like card front. Oswald Owl was adhered inside of the oval as if he was sitting in the tree. Next I created the sentiment tag by stamping the Whooo's Special Greeting (142B) on a piece of yellow card stock and then cut it out with a shaped die. I layered it with an orange fishtail banner and a brown scallop and embellished it with a tan brad on either side as shown. The final step was to adhere the card front on to an A2 brown card stock base.

Holiday Gift Tag

I usually don't hand make my "to/from" tags for my Christmas packages, but the challenge over at Christmas Stampin' All Year Long has inspired me to get creative! It's time to show off your Christmas tags and here's mine!

This finished tag measures 2.25" x 3.75" and I used several stamps from DRS Designs to create this cute snow scene:

Gift Tag Greetings (To, From, Love, Santa) (498C)

All of the images were colored with Copic Markers and I used a white gel pen to make the snow. A bit of glitter was even added to the roof top and the ground to enhance the snow.

Witch Feet

Hey Everyone! I'm back again today with a card I created for the color challenge over at DRS Designs. Here's the inspiration photo. It's perfect for Fall!

So, I'm a little off on my greens. Guess that part of my memory failed me, LOL! At least the orange and yellows work!

I colored the Witch Feet? Image (140H) with Copic Markers. The Butt Look Big Greeting (542E) was added underneath on the card front. I kept things simple using only a decorative border punch and some bat embellishments.

Pumpkin Witch

Hi Friends!

Well, better late than never, or at least it feel that way this week...Here's the card I made for this week's DRS Designs challenge, "Spooky or Cutsey?" I think I tried to go more with the spooky theme, but I just love this Fancy Pumpkin (077G) image. I guess he fits the "cutsey" part of this challenge, LOL!

He was colored with Copic markers and then the edges were sponged with black ink to give it an eerie look. I stamped a small portion of the Poison Potions Greeting (543H) along with the Accent Bats (517A), and the Silhouette Graveyard (579H) on the card front and inked the edges of that as well. Some polka dotted orange ribbon embellished it nicely, making the orange from the pumpkin 'pop' and it was all adhered on a black, A2 card stock base. Easy peasy and quick, and very festive too!

We are looking forward to buying our pumpkins tomorrow!

Halloween Magic Potions

It's just a week or so into October and our neighborhood has exploded into a Halloween frenzy! It seems as if many of my neighbors have taken advantage of the mild weather we've had thus far and brought out every Halloween decoration they own. It's so nice to see the neighborhood look so festive! We've taken advantage of the weather ourselves and got our Fall yard work done, but our yard also has some scarecrows, pumpkins and even a milk carton skeleton!

So, are you enjoying all the awesome, new Halloween stamps from DRS Designs last release? I having a lot of fun with them, but most of all I'm loving the color combos I've been using to show them off. I love the fun bright colors that you can get away with on Halloween cards and this one is no exception!

For starters, I stamped and colored the Magic Potions Shelf (537H) with Copic Markers. Then I used a large, scallop Nestability die to cut it out. The Poison Potions Halloween Greeting (543H) was too long for the layout so I split it up. I stamped the first and last set of lines on purple fishtail banners to use as embellishments around the colored shelf and the middle sets of lines were stamped directly on the white cardstock used for the image. I added some spider webs to the empty corners as shown and the top and bottom portions of the card front were lined with orange scallop borders. The black cardstock base was cut to create a 5" x 4.5" and the card front adhered in the center made it complete.

Heavy Metal

Well, don't let my post title confuse you! I'm not mentioning music in today's post--this refers to the DRS Designs challenge just posted. We want you to use any type of metal embellishments for your challenge entry. Here's mine:

Can you believe it's October 1st?!?!? Halloween planning is in full force and I'm still making Halloween cards to celebrate! To make this card, I started first by coloring the Witch Feet (140H) with Copic Markers. I think her stockings scream "Witch!" in those purple and green colors. They make for a fun and festive card! I used these colors on the rest of my layout and I split up the Ghoul Friends Witch Greeting (536E) to fit on the vertical panel as shown. I laced black ribbon through the metal bracket before adhering it in place, and then the matted image was adhered on top. Finally, I stamped the Accent Bats (517A) to embellish the empty space on my card front.

Witches Potions

I'm so excited to be able to use the DRS Designs blog challenge this week to show off more of their new Halloween stamps. This weeks challenge theme is "Flying High", and the Accent Bats (517A) I used to create my own pattern paper on this card fit the bill! Each challenge entry needs to include something that flies on it.

The new Silhouette Grave Yard (579H) trimmed the edge of my pattern paper, and the RIP Tombstone (570B) is the only colored portion on the entire card front. There's something I really like about the pop of color in that small tombstone image. The Poison Potions Halloween Greeting (543H) was stamped off to the side as shown and I felt additional embellishments were not needed. I thought the layout and the pattern paper alone added a lot of texture to this finished card.

Ghoul Friends

Happy Fall, y'all!

Can you believe it's the first day of Fall? Where has 2015 gone? It's hard to believe that Christmas is right around the corner, but for now, I'm excited for this time of year and for DRS Designs new Halloween stamps!

I stamped and colored the Witch Feet? (140H) with Copic Markers and paired it with the new Ghoul Friend Witch Greeting (536E). This greeting totally makes me chuckle and I know a few "ghoul" friends this would be perfect for! Once I had the focal image colored, this was a pretty quick and easy card to complete. The greeting was stamped with black ink and then cut out using a Nestability die. I used the die as a stencil and sponged the stamped portion with orange ink to match the color scheme. I assembled the card as shown and decorated the card front with a punched spider web at the top edge that was embellished with light green rhinestones, a few cardstock bats with green-dotted eyes, and a bright green grosgrain ribbon pulled it all together. I hope you like it!

Butt Look Big?

As I've mentioned previously I love this time of year, and my stamping has gotten a lot more fun recently with a new package of Halloween stamps from DRS Designs! Today I'm showing off one of their new sentiments for this weeks blog challenge using the color palette below.

These colors are perfect for a Halloween card, wouldn't you agree?

I started by coloring the Witchly Accessories (154K) with Copic markers. It was matted on orange cardstock and embellished with a spiral clip tied with violet ribbon on one side, and three black square rhinestones on the other. I created my own pattern paper panel using the Accent Bats (517A) and embellished it with a spiderweb punched out from orange card stock. The card base was created from a piece of black card stock to create an A2 size card. The pattern paper panel was adhered at the upper portion of the card base and then the matted image was adhered in place as shown. I stamped the "Butt Look Big Greeting (542E)" (Soon to be released) on a piece of orange card stock, cut it out with a metal die and adhered it at the bottom of the image to complete my card.

Who's Your Mummy?

It's the most wonderful time of the year and I'm not referring to Christmas! LOL! Don't get me wrong I love summer, as most of us do, but there's something about the change of seasons when the weather becomes cool. With Halloween right around the corner there's no better time to start making your Halloween cards and that's what I've done today for this weeks DRS Designs Blog Challenge.

The challenge theme is "A Real Cutie" and I've chosen this Mummy (943H) for the cute focal image on my Halloween card. I used a C3 Copic marker to shade it, it was fussy cut out and then set aside while I made my card front. I used a Nestability die to cut out the purple scallop and while it was still in the die, I sponged it with black ink and outlined it with a fine point black marker. The Accent Bats (517A) were randomly stamped and the Mummy was adhered in the center. The card front was made from gray cardstock and I stamped the Who's Your Mummy Greeting (909D) towards the bottom. The purple scalloped panel was adhered in the center and then the bottom portion was trimmed with black ribbon. The card front was adhered onto a black cardstock note card that measures 3.5" x 5", and my card was complete.

A Taste Of Fall!

My family and I took some time this past weekend to go to the local Cider mill. Despite the fact that it was 90° with high humidity, the taste of Fall was wonderful! We were out in the country where they were harvesting crops--there were apples and corn on the cob everywhere, and the smell of donuts and cider was absolutely mouthwatering! By the time we left, I decided I'm done with the Summer heat and I'm ready for Fall! I'm looking forward to decorating the house this weekend with my son. I can't wait to get out my sunflower wreath, decorate the mantle with my leaf garland, and put the scarecrow on the porch! Last night when I sat down to stamp I was inspired by our Cider mill visit and I brought my Autumn stamps out to make this card!

I used several DRS Designs stamps to create this card. I stamped the Scarecrow (566F) first, then I masked him and used yellow and burnt orange inks to stamp the Long Tall Wheat (590H) behind him. I used Copic Markers to color the image. It was matted with a brown scalloped rectangle and set aside while I worked on the rest of the card. The card front was created with orange and yellow card stock. The orange card stock was embossed with a leaf embossing folder and a wide brown ribbon hid the seam where the two colors came together. The matted image was placed just off center between the panels as shown and the Happy Fall Ya'll (635B) sentiment was stamped in brown ink and cut out with a decorative paper punch. As you can see, it was placed at the bottom, left-hand corner of the image. The final touch was adding a fishtail banner embellishment in the upper right corner and an orange paper leaf was added to the center. The card front was then adhered to an A2 dark brown cardstock base and my card was complete.

Sympathy Silhouette

Thankfully, I'm not in need of a sympathy card right now but the challenge on the DRS Deigns Bog starting today is "Feeling Sentimental. " I thought a sympathy card was perfect for the challenge not only because I used a sentiment as the focal point of my card, but also because there's a lot of emotion associated with a sympathy card. Plus, my sympathy stash is low and I always like to have those cards on hand.

I kept my layout simple and used the Brush In Deepest Sympathy greeting (588G) as the focal portion of my card. I love the elegant look of the Silhouette Branch Background (363H) and I tend to use it frequently on sympathy cards. Today's card was no exception and I used it to create the pattern paper panel. A simple dark purple ribbon tied in a knot embellished it, and it was layered on top of a dry embossed matted piece of purple card stock. Clean and simple and easy, peasy--that's what I was going for today! Hope you like it!

Season's Greetings

Hi Friends!

Yay for Wednesday! Half the work week is just about over! How are you enjoying the last days of summer? Here in Michigan, there's already a bit of crispness in the air and there's no doubt that Fall is right around the corner. This year I am really trying to stay on top of things and that's why I'm still using DRS designs new Christmas stamps to work on more of my Christmas cards. I still feel horrible that time got away from me last year and I didn't send out any!

The card I created for today features the new Season's Greeting Holly Spray stamp (487L). I colored it with Copic markers and added red Stickles to the holly berries. While it was drying I used red cardstock to form and an A2 cardstock base. The card front was created using three different layers. I cut a portion of olive green cardstock and stamped it with the Pine Bough (467K) in dark green ink. Then I ripped it on a diagonal and adhered it to a small portion of red card stock and ripped that on a matching diagonal. Finally, majority of the card front was created using khaki cardstock that was embossed with the Divine Swirls embossing folder. The edges of both the card base and the card front were rounded and the card front was adhered in place. Next, the colored image was matted with red cardstock and adhered to the center of the card front as shown. A simple sheer, red bow embellished the bottom of the image nicely and my card was complete.

Hanging Ornaments

Here's the inspiration photo to this weeks DRS Designs Blog Challenge, and these chili peppers scream one thing to me: hot, hot, hot!

However, I am still creating Christmas cards and there's nothing hot about Christmas! I'm dreading the cold winter temperatures and it's not even Fall yet! LOL!

For this card, I stamped the Triple Hanging Christmas Ornaments (500L), and the Deco Christmas New Years Greeting (488G) on white card stock. Both were colored with Copic markers. The white card stock panel was cut short around the bottom of the yellow ornament and then matted with colored card stock at the top and bottom. The green cardstock was extended at the bottom and was stamped with the Pine Bough (467K). You Left Me Hanging!

I'm really enjoying the new Christmas ornament stamps from DRS Designs. It's a good feeling getting a jump start on my Christmas cards. I know with a 4 year old and an almost 2 year old, Christmas from here on out will be even busier than past years but it will also be so much more exciting too! I couldn't pass up the opportunity to use this weeks DRS Designs blog challenge as an excuse to create another one. The challenge this week is "You Left Me Hanging," and it's perfect for showing off their new Christmas ornament stamps.

The Triple Hanging Ornaments (500L) was colored with Copic Markers. I matted the colored image with red card stock and put it aside while I worked on my card front. I used ivory card stock for the front and stamped it with the Retro Starburst (1059G) in Versamark Ink. Then I used a decorative border punch at the top. I did the same thing to a piece of green card stock and layered them as shown to decorate the top of the card. I embellished the scallop edge with yellow rhinestones to match the color scheme, and then adhered the matted image in the center. The Deco Christmas New Year Greeting (488G) was stamped at the bottom and also colored with Copic markers. Finally, yellow Stickles were added to the starburst ornament to make the card complete.

On the Tree

Hi Everyone!

I'm so excited to have new Christmas stamps to play with. DRS Designs just released a bunch of new ones just in time to get a jump start on those holidays cards! The holiday season always seems to creep up, doesn't it? That's why I'm using this time to get started NOW!

I created this one to show off the new Simple Ornament (491K). I colored it Copic Markers and then applied Diamond Glaze all over it, before fussy cutting it out. I love how the shiny look of the glaze makes it look real!

Of course, I had to make a Christmas tree background using the Pine Bough (467K) to make it look like it was hanging in the tree! I decorated the empty space at the top of the card front using the new Deco Christmas New Years Greeting (488G). I split it up so that I could add the small text of "& Happy New Year" to decorate the yellow banner placed at the lower portion of the card front. "Merry Christmas" was enhanced a bit by coloring portions of it with red Copic Markers. I hope you like it!

Christmas Feelings

Today I am using DRS Designs new blog challenge to show off some sneak peaks of their new stamps scheduled to be released this weekend! The challenge theme this week is "I Can Feel It!" You need to use some sort of dry embossing on your entry to qualify for the challenge.

I created this non-traditional Christmas card with the Cuttlebug Heart Embossing folder to match the heart theme in the stamps. Yes, you heard that right--Christmas!! Now is the time to get started on those Christmas cards and DRS designs has some new stamps coming out to help you do just that!

The new stamps I used on this card are the Jesus is the Heart of Christmas Greeting (496F) and the Baby Jesus Heart (494G) which I colored here with Copic Markers. I also used the Interlocking Heart Background (808H) on the yellow panel. I love that this turned out so nice despite the non-traditional Christmas colors. I added some Stickles to the star and embellished the top with a metallic gold ribbon. A few brads at the bottom finished it up nicely and the card front was adhere on to a dark brown A2 cardstock base.

Hula Scene!

With my shy personality, I normally don't like to be the center of attention and I sure don't like to cause a scene. However, this Hula Pig (879E) is causing a scene and telling everyone to get your 'hula on' for this week's DRS Designs Blog challenge! The theme is to create a scene using any image, die cut, paper, or technique.

This scene was created by using the masking and sponging techniques. The Hula Pig, the Sandcastle (090G) and the Palm Tree (886G) images were masked and then the sky and the beach sand were sponged. I used Copic markers to color in the stamped images. Next, I used the Top Note Die to cut out my scene from the white cardstock it was created on and then matted it with pink cardstock before adhering it in place on a light blue cardstock base. I stamped the Sending You Sunshine Greeting (094D) on a flag banner and embellished it with a small red flower that was held in place with a tiny pink brad. The final step was adhering it to the card front as shown.
