Well, long time no see!

This past summer was quite an experience. I got not one but 2 medical issues that just took the wind out of my sails for a good long time. I have finally recovered and am back to creating.

The beginning of the month is time for a new challenge at Crafts Galore and our sponsor is Conjurer of Dreams.

Welcome to May everyone!!

Our theme this month at Gecko Galz is Tweet Spring!

I had such fun with this challenge...

I started off by upcycling a $ 0.25 plate into this lovely piece of wall art!

I was so thrilled to finally be able to use this vintage bird food tin (i've had it a couple years). I knew it would make a fun piece of art at some point. I added scraps of thread that I cut off a tangled mess of bobbins in my stash. Makes for a fun "nest".

I used one of the digital stamps from the Spring Blush set to make this watercolored book mark.

A fun Memory Dex card... with lots of glitter :)

Another image from the Spring Blush digital stamp set...this time turned into a card.

And finally a few Tweet Spring ATC cards which have been framed with some rust paper that I made myself.

Each month Gecko Galz hosts a variety of challenges on their blog.

They provide an image and you create a project with that particular image.

I have so much fun with these challenges as they stretch my creative imagination.

Here is what I created...

Gothic Challenge

She looked like a flirty little ghoul so I partially tucked her behind a curved panel lined with black fur. When the flap is opened the entire image is revealed.

Card Challenge

I wish you could see but all of the flowers in the image are 3D.

Christmas Challenge

Love this color! Fun and unexpected.

Fantasy Challenge

A girl and her dragon dog tag pendant!

Steampunk Challenge

My favorite challenge of the month is this darling little fellow... He was just too much fun! He is 3D as well but he is also an easel card that stands up :)

The sentiment on the pocket watch says "Good Things Take Time".

And here is what I created...

I made both of these creations by designing a card using the digital stamps in Canva. These designs were then printed out on 110lb cardstock which I colored using a combination of Prisma colored pencils, a bit of ink and glitter. Sadly the glitter wasn't captured in these photos.

I originally designed the Bee Happy card but I loved that little reading bee so much I had to use him. He's just so darn cute!

Altered Muffin Tin - Bee Happy!

Happy Day!

The current quarterly challenge at Gecko Galz is Muffin Tins....

yes, you read that correctly - the challenge is to alter a muffin tin using Gecko Galz images. I love altering stuff...anything - if it's old and needs a new life, I'll alter it! I had this old muffin tin in my stash of stuff - it was a bit bent and worn so it was ripe for pickin'.

And here is what I created....

Gecko Galz - What's the Buzz

I started off by dabbing a layer of brown paint here and there then a bit of goldenrod through a honeycomb stencil. Next I printed out the What's the Buzz collage sheet and cut the images using a couple sizes of circles. A bit of ink, cheese cloth, moss and a few bits of vintage doilies and here you have it! It's going to hang in my kitchen to add some fun to our home!

Why not pull it out, give it a renewed sense of purpose and make a lovely piece of home decor.

I hope you all had a save and fun start. I am happy to say that I am returning for another year on the Gecko Galz design team! I have so much fun creating with their great collage images. I hope you enjoy seeing what I create and are inspired to make, even if it's not anything using a Gecko Galz image...it's important just to take some time for yourself and create.
