Slo-Mo is available iPhone 5s, 6 or 6 Plus Users:

To get started launch the camera app, then swipe across the screen to scroll between the various shooting modes. Keep swiping until slo-mo is highlighted in yellow and then you’re ready to shoot. Just like shooting a regular video tap the red button on the screen to start the video. Remember to hold your phone horizontally when shooting video to avoid having black bars on the sides. Hold your phone horizontally, seriously it’s important.

When you’re in slo-mo mode your screen will look like this:

While you’re shooting there will be a white circle around the red button with small lines around it, this is normal for slo-mo shooting. When you’ve captured the moment, just hit the red button again to end the video. The video will be stored with all your other photos/videos. Tap the photo thumbnail in the bottom corner of the screen or tap the photos icon to view.

When you playback the video it will start in normal speed and slow down at a point determined by your phone. You can edit the section that plays back in slow motion by taping on the photo, hitting edit in the top right corner and then dragging the vertical bars that appear at the bottom. The space between the lines in this section indicate the play back speed. When the vertical lines are close to each other the video plays back at normal speed; the further the lines are apart the slower the playback of the video. Click and drag the white vertical line at the bottom over the video images to play back different sections of the video and view your changes.

When editing the slo-mo playback your screen will look like this. The white bar with all the lines adjust which part of the video plays in slo-mo, the bottom bar lets your view different part of the video while you edit:

For an added laugh be sure your volume is turned up when you playback the video, the audio on your video will be slowed down as well!

Did I mention to hold your phone horizontally when capturing video on your Inland Cellular device? oh yeah I mentioned that twice, but it really is important especially if you’re entering your video in our contest!

For the Techies in the room: on the iPhone 5s, slow motion video is recorded at 120 frames per second in 720p high definition. On the 6 or 6 Plus, you can shoot in slow motion at 240 FPS as well. Tap the 120FPS or 240FPS on-screen indicator to toggle back and forth.

The Basics:
Basically Snapchat is a free messaging app where you can share photos & videos that you customize with text, emojis, filters (we’ll get to filters in a minute) or drawings.

The catch?

Your picture is only available to the person or people you send it to for a max of 10 seconds after the user opens it. When the time limit is up that image is gone.

The catch of the catch?
Users can screenshot your image. You will get a notification if someone screen shots your snap, but you can’t stop them from taking the screen shot and saving the image.

Let’s start snapping:

This is what the SnapChat camera screen will look like.

-Top Left Corner: The lightning bolt button controls your flash (the ‘x’ next to it means flash is off).

-Top Center: The ghost opens a menu with options to see your friends, add new friends, and see who has added you as a friend. Once you’re in there, this menu also has an icon in the upper right that looks like a gear and takes you to your settings.
-Top Right Corner: Clicking the camera icon will toggle between your front and rear facing camera (when the camera has a smiley face in it, you’re in selfie mode) – You can also double tap on the screen to switch between modes.
-Bottom Left: Click here to see any snaps you haven’t opened yet.
-Bottom Right: Takes you to the stories page (we’ll talk about stories in a minute)
-Bottom Center: One tap of this button takes the photo, press and hold to take a video. Videos can be up to ten seconds long.

After you take the picture you’ll see this screen:

-Top Left: The ‘X’ will delete the picture and take you back to the camera to take another photo.

-Top Right: The sticky note like icon will bring up emojis you can add to your image. Click the ‘T’ to add text to your picture or video. The pencil icon allows you to draw, click the color slider that appears below the pencil to change your color.

*Pro Tip: dragging your finger further down the screen will allow you to use ‘hidden’ colors like black or white that don’t show up on the regular color choices.

-Bottom left: Click this time icon to adjust how long your image is available. The arrow pointing to a box will save your snap to your photo gallery. The box with plus icon adds the image automatically to your story (we’re still going to get to the story, don’t worry).
-Bottom right: This is the send button, clicking here takes you to a list of your contacts so you can choose who will see this snap.

After taking the picture, swiping left on your screen will allow you to scroll through some preset filters. These change the color of the picture, make it black and white, or add a geo filter which is basically an overlay on your picture that is based on where the picture is taken.

*Pro Tip: before you actually snap the picture press on hold on your face and a list of added filters will pop up for you to scroll through (this is where the dog face is).

What is a snapcode?

If you see the ghost icon you’ll see black dots, this pattern of dots is specific to each user and is called a snapcode. To add a user, open your Snapchat camera, point it at the snapcode and press and hold on the screen. A box will pop up on the screen as ask if you want to add that user. What is a story?

A Snapchat story is a photo or video you post to the stories section of your account. These photos and videos are available for your friends to watch as many times as they’d like in a 24-hour period. After 24 hours, your story disappears. Stories appear in chronological order as you post them. By default, your privacy for stories is friends only, but you can change that in settings if you’d like your story to be public. Remember on the camera screen this  button will add your image to your story automatically. Or you can use the send button and select my story at the top of the list to send it to your story and any other friends you use.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, don’t be, just download the app and have some fun. My mother, who looked at me like I’d lost my mind when she first saw me snapchatting, now snaps me almost every day.

BEFORE YOU BRING YOUR PHONE IN TO UPGRADE PLEASE BACK UP YOUR DATA.

The LTE upgrade for the Motorola XT1093 Moto X 2^nd Gen is now available.

Unfortunately, the upgrade process will completely erase your device.  To avoid losing any of your data, please make sure you back up your content to a computer or to a cloud storage account (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive etc.) before you bring it in to get updated.

Once you have everything saved, bring your device into one of our sales locations and we will upgrade it to LTE for you.

I’m sure we’ve all experienced the utter shock when we think we’ve lost all of our precious photographs.  Worry no more my friends!  We’re going to show you three of the best “Cloud” services to back up your photos to any smartphone device and you’ll never have to worry about losing your pictures again!

In case you’re new to “Cloud” services, we’ll go through a little Cloud 101. The cloud isn’t actually a cloud at all and it’s definitely not something that magically follows you and your devices around.  Cloud Storage is the storage of data online.  A person’s data is stored in and made accessible from multiple distributed and connected resources that comprise, you guessed it, The Cloud. It’s basically like, going to the grocery store, putting everything you want in the cart and then being able to get any and everything out of the cart, whenever and where ever you go!

Our first cloud service is iCloud.  iCloud connects you and your Apple devices.  iCloud keeps all of your photos, videos, and documents stored and updated everywhere.  iCloud will not only store photos, and videos but it will also back up your contacts, calendars, bookmarks, mail messages, notes, shared photo albums, and downloaded documents.  This cloud service offers 5 GB of limited storage free, unless otherwise purchased.

iCloud service is specific to iOS devices.

1. Navigate to your home screen and open your settings.

2. Scroll down to iCloud and tap it to open it.

3. Tap on Photos

4. Turn iCloud Photo Library to ON.

And that’s it! Your photos will automatically upload to your iCloud photo library.  To access your photos from a computer or other devices, simply go to http://icloud.com. It will ask you to enter an ID and password, which will be your Apple ID and password, the same log in information you use on your iOS device to do things like purchase music or download apps.

Our next cloud service is Dropbox.  Dropbox is compatible with both iOS and Android devices.  It’s a service that keeps your files safe, synced, and easy to share.  Dropbox will store your photos, videos, Word documents, PowerPoints, PDF files, and more!  Initially Dropbox includes 2GB (roughly 600 photos) of free storage.  You can purchase additional storage OR you can earn more FREE storage by inviting your friends to use Dropbox!  You will get an extra 500 MB of storage for each friend that signs up and downloads the app.  You can get up to 16 GB of free storage by inviting 32 people!

  1. Depending on your device, open Google Play or the App Store.  Search for Dropbox, then tap Install. 

2. After Dropbox is installed, find the app on your device and tap it to open it.

 3.  Once the app is opened, you will have two options: Sign in or Sign up.  If you’re new to Dropbox, you’ll need to create an account, which can easily be done by selecting Sign Up.  If you’ve previously had an account, you can skip the singing up and simply sign in and get right to work! When you get signed in, you’ll need to turn on Camera Upload (you will see the option to upload to your videos as well, which is solely up to you, but if you ask me, why not?!). From there, your photos and (if selected) videos will automatically be uploaded to Dropbox. You can view your photos from your computer by going to http://dropbox.com and signing in.

• If your cell phone plan has a limited data allotment, you may want to adjust your settings (in the app or online) to “Upload on Wi-Fi ONLY” and not on your mobile network, as that will use more data and may cause overages.

Last, but certainly not least is Google Photos.  Google photos will back up and store a lifetime of photos across all of your devices.  It allows you to organize your photos by people, places, and things and it lets you search for specific photos by what you remember about the photo.  It also allows you to easily edit your photos; crop, add filters, and adjust your photos, just how you like them!  Google Photos offers unlimited High Quality photo and video storage.  If you choose to store your images and videos in full resolution, Google Photos offers 15 GB of storage.  To access your photos online, go to http://photos.google.com and sign in!

  1. If you are an Android user, Google Photos is already installed on your device. If you are in an iOS device, open the App Store, search Google Photos and tap Install.

2. When app has finished installing, find it on your device and open it.

• Google Photos requires a Google Account. If you are an iOS user, you may need to visit http://mail.google.com to create a Gmail Account.  Unless you already have an existing Gmail (or like) account.

3. Once you’ve opened the app, tap Get Started. From there you’ll need to sign in with your Google Account log in information. After you’re logged in, if prompted to “Allow Google Photos to access your photos” tap Allow.

4. After you have allowed access to your photos, your photos will start downloading to the app. And any new photos you take will automatically be stored!

• To assure future photos are stored in Google Photos, enter the Settings and make sure Back up and Sync is turned on

• Also, (while you’re in the settings of the app) if you wish to upload photos at anytime (regardless of whether you’re on your mobile network or connected to Wi-Fi) you may turn on the option of “Photos Back up using cellular data” BUT it may result in data overages.

There you have it, friends. Cloud storage! It really is one of the most simple and effective ways to safely back up and store your photos and videos. I set this app up last night with my personal insurance and it is really easy to use! The first thing that needs to be done, is to sign up for an account. After that, login to the app and put in your personal information like the policy holders name, date of birth, zip code, etc. Once that is done, you can simply scan the front and back of the insurance card, and that’s it! Your insurance card is added. Once your insurance is entered into the app, find the section called “My Meds” and from there your prescriptions can be added. You can then search for locations based on price with or without insurance. This app is really easy to use and I love it.

The new Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Samsung S5 is now available via FOTA (Firmware Over The Air).  If you installed the previous 5.0 update, this update will resolve the two issues below.

Issue 1: The voicemail message indicator does not update until the device is rebooted.

Issue 2: Users may randomly see an error message that says “Unfortunately, Contacts has Stopped”.

If you did not install the previous update, you will need to install both updates.  Your phone will download and install the updates in the correct order.  To check for the updates manually go to settings, about device, software updates then tap on “Update now”.  Keep in mind it may take a day or two before every device sees the update.

Android 5.0 Lollipop is now available for your device.  Before you choose to update please note that there are two known issues with the newest software build.

1. If a new message is deposited the user will not be notified until they reboot their device.
2. If the user deletes the voicemails in their mailbox the notification in the notification bar will not go away until the device is rebooted again.

Issue 2: Users may randomly see an error message that says “Unfortunately, Contacts has Stopped”.

We recommend not updating until these issues are resolved.  If you decide to update you may want to sign up for Voicemail+.  With Voicemail+ your voicemails will be forwarded to the email address of your choice.  If you wish to update and use this feature please call our customer service department at 1-800-248-8822 or dial 611 from your Inland Cellular device.  We hope to have these issues fixed in a future maintenance release, but please be aware that once you update you cannot go back.
