Rooted in Japanese aesthetics, literally meaning a subtle beauty with a hint of complexity, Shibuy Hada puts a unique spin on ordinary clothing. Focusing on knits, owner and designer Kate Jacobsen hand makes her apparel from her Chicago studio. Based off Andy Warhol’s love of imagery, Kate sometimes puts her own drawings and photos into the cloth she makes. She’ll even do the same for you and custom-create your look with your own design or photo. Shibuy Hada’s pieces are elegant, creative, and might make you feel a little mysterious like the name suggests.

Kate comes from a family of craftsmanship, with her mom as a seamstress, and her aunt who dyed, spun, and wove wool. With a true passion for art, Kate grew up continuously creating beautiful pieces. She’s seen her fair share of the world, and was once a costume designer. All of this combines to create the look that is Shibuy Hada today. Jake – Jim Wetzel and Lance Lawson

Catching the eye of every Chicago tourist this summer, Jake boutique really knows how to portray Chicago in the right light. TK Men – Lindsay McKay

As one of the only true “men’s” boutiques in Chicago, TK Men is more than just a place to buy clothing. Shoppers are encouraged to play xBox, watch TV, and down a PBR while shopping. Formally an investment banking analyst and a Harvard Business School graduate, Lee Allison started his company in 1995. With virtually no prior fashion experience, he is living the American dream, designing and selling his own creations.

Since then he has been gaining national recognition as a Chicago-based designer. He was featured as one of the Macy’s 47 in fall 2006. Through this, his designs were sold at Macy’s in a department of the store dedicated to local talent. Orlando also serves as Co-Chair on the Mayor’s Fashion Advisory Council that was formed in 2004. His efforts to improve the community as a whole make him a prominent name in Chicago fashion.
