<span style="font-family: verdana;">Many religious people belief is that the Shiva ‘Linga’ stands for the phallus,the symbol </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">of the generative power in nature. “This is not merely a major mistake but also a </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">serious blunder”, Swami Sivananda expressed. In Sanskrit literature, the term ‘Lingam’ </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">transliterated as ‘Linga’ means a symbol or mark. Hence, the Shiva Linga is taken </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">as a symbol of Lord Shiva and a mark that refers to the almighty which is unformed. </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">Shiva Linga talks to the believers in the unique language of silence and it is merely </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">the superficial symbol of the formless being, Lord Shiva is the eternal soul chaired in </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">the chamber of your heart, who is your secret self or 'Atman' and identical with the </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">supreme 'Brahman.'</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">According to Linga Purana, the foremost Linga is devoid of smell, colour, taste and </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">et al and is talked to as ‘Prakriti’ (Nature) itself. In the verdict period, the Linga made </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">symbolical of the generative power of Lord Shiva. As we know, the Linga stone is like </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">an egg shape which signifies the ‘Brahmanda’. It denotes that the creation is produced </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">by the union of ‘Prakriti’ (nature) and Purusha, the powers of nature of both male and </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">female. Linga also specifies ‘Satya’ (Truth), ‘Gyana’ (Knowledge) and Ananta (Infinity). </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">More, Shiva Linga has three distinct parts which are considered as ‘the lowest one is</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">called the ‘Brahma Pitha’, the middle one the ‘Vishnu Pitha’ and the topmost one is </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">called the ‘Shiva Pitha’.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">There is a strange power in the Linga, to persuade attention of the mind and help focus </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">one's concentration. Thus, the antique sages and soothsayers of India arranged the Shiva </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">Linga to be established in the temples of Lord Shiva.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"> The Lord Shiva has been worshipped in phallic form. According to mythology, both </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">the Lord Brahma and Vishnu had once made an argument in regard to their supremacy. </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">The Lord Brahma who is the Creator stated himself to be more honored, on the other, the </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">Lord Vishnu, the Preserver, expressed that he commanded more respect.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Just then, a gigantic 'lingam', known as Jyotirlinga, mantled in flames, emerged before </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">them. Both Brahma and Vishnu were captivated by its rapidly mounting in size. They </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">stopped thinking about their quarrel right away and determined to its size. Vishnu </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">presumed the form of a boar went to the netherworld and Brahma as a swan flew to the </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">skies. But both failed to achieve the self-assumed tasks. Next, The Lord Shiva came out</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">of the 'lingam' and declared that he was the forebear of both of them. Consequently, he </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">must be worshipped in his phallic figure.</span></div>

“<i>Arjuna, those who are full of worldly desires and devoted to the letter of the Vedas, who look upon heaven, as a supreme goal and argue that there is nothing beyond heaven, are unwise. They utter flowery speech recommending many rituals of various kinds for the attainment of pleasure and with rebirth as their fruit. Those whose minds are carried away by such words, and who are deeply attached to pleasure and worldly power by performing rituals only, cannot attain the determinate intellect concentrated on God.</i>”(Gita-42-44)<br />
<br />
The Gita is nothing but a sneer of the Divine Mind at our foolish theorizing. The fool thinks himself to be the apostle of wisdom. The light of real wisdom is shut out by obstinacy and the foolish theories become a foundation of life.
After the death of a person, his kith and kins perform a number of rituals including his cremation. And the large numbers of people do wish, after his death, that his ashes be immersed in the holy rivers, or spread over mountains and the sacred places. Most of the Hindus families perform the ceremonies for thirteen days for the peace of departed soul.<br />
<br />
What happens, if one donates one’s body after death and lets the doctors’ work on it? What about cremation? It is invalid thinking that if the cremation is not done the man will become ghost. We ruin ourselves by sticking to our nicely well knit theories. Nations go to the ruin by their foolhardiness. It will be a great service in fact to donate, after death, one’s organs that will save the life of others. It will be a great service to humanity.<br />
<br />
If one serves in this way after death, one’s atma, soul, shall find a place in the heart of the eternal Lord and one is reborn as an embodiment of mildness and tranquility, it is sure.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: garamond, 'new york', times, serif; font-size: 16px; margin: 0px;">
<span style="font-size: 18pt; line-height: 27px;">Phenomenal advancement in science and technology has conferred</span> numerous boons on human race in the areas of information, communication, infrastructure, travel, entertainment, education, health care, energy, space exploration and various ways of providing man with innumerable comforts with newer inventions. But human values all along have been declining in society where fear, insecurity, unhappiness, exploitation and several evil propensities in almost all walks of life haunt. Today man is pursuing selfish interest and does not serve the society selflessly as all inclusive social progress is lacking. There are divisive forces in every field of activity and unity among men, faiths and nation is not seen. Moral standards have generally declined right from the educational institutions to every field of activity as man is pursuing only material progress for himself and has little regard for moral and spiritual living being higher aim of human birth. We witness wars, communal disharmony and violence rampant and extremist elements misusing sophisticated technology creating terror and loss of innocent lives and property. Leaders of various nations are deliberating at regional and international levels to deal with situation and terrorism is proliferating at rapid pace all over the world. Counter offensive measures using modern technology and weapons to eliminate or contain terrorism are not meeting with success.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: garamond, 'new york', times, serif; font-size: 16px; margin: 0px;">

A change of heart alone, through inculcating human values in the society can reverse evil trends and ensure lasting peace and harmony in the society. Man in his greed exploits Nature too; drawing indiscriminately on its resources and causing menacing environmental pollution resulting in ecological imbalance leading to natural calamities and widespread diseases. The governments, scientific community, social and religious organizations and all right thinking citizens must now focus their attention to devise measures to develop human sciences alongside physical sciences. Reputed sociologist and futurologist Alvin Toffler also forecast in his book “Future Shock” accelerated technology impact on society leaving them disconnected where people face abrupt collision with future,</div>

His devotee long to feel closer to Lord</span><br style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><br style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Krushna every day and not just on Sri Krushna Jayanti. He carries a plough shaped like ‘ ८ ’ (8) the number eight in Sanskrut in His hand. This implies that He has control over Prakruti consisting of the eight principles. The eight principles of Prakruti are the five basic cosmic elements, the mind, the subconscious mind and the intellect.</span><br style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"> Kansa was the maternal ancle. Since Kansa’s prowess was limited he could not withstand Krushna.</span><br style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Rukmini was Krushna’s chief queen. His seven other main queens were Satyabhama, Jambavati, Kalindi, Mitravinda, Satya, Bhadra and Lakshmana. These eight queens represent the eightfold Prakruti. The implied meaning is that the eight principles are within the control of Krushna. Krushna married the 16,000 princesses imprisoned by Narkasur after freeing them, so that they acquired social status. The 16,000 princesses represent the 16,000 spiritual energy flow channels (nadis) in the body. Marrying them means activating them.</span><br style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;" /><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Radha-Krushna are the male and female aspects of God. We’re all parts of Krushna—as drops of ocean water are tiny samples of the ocean. The more we know about Krushna, the better we understand ourselves—and the easier it is to understand what life is for.</span>

<br />
Raksha Bandhan is a term from the Hindi language which means a relationship or an association based on protection. This is a festival which<br />
<br />
has a long standing Indian heritage. More commonly known as Rakhi, this Indian festival signifies the sacred bond of love between a brother<br />
<br />
and sister. this is An Endearing Bonding Between Two Siblings<br />
<br />
It is a day when brothers and sisters reaffirm their relation. The meaning of the festival is self explanatory, as Raksha in Indian parlance means protection and bandhan means a bonding. On this day sister ties a rakhi on her brothers’ wrist and brothers in turn vows to protect their sisters all through their lives.<br />
<br />
If we consider the traditional festival of Raksha Bandhan, we can see how many minor yet reflective changes have taken place in the way we celebrate the festival.<br />
<br />
Sisters now have the option of sending an online Rakhi to Brothers , if they happen to be settled outside the country or if they might be visiting another country on the day of the festival.<br />
<br />
Brothers can also send online Rakhi gifts to their sisters if they live outside the country.<br />
<br />
Cultural changes have an impact on every aspect of a person's life and festivals are no exception.<br />
<br />
<br />
One doesn't even need to visit a marketplace for buying Rakhi gifts anymore. One can just look for a website that provides the services of sending Rakhi gifts , and order online by paying through a credit card or net banking. Who could have thought of anything like that happening a decade or so ago?<br />
<br />
In todays busy world, though the customs of Rakhi are same almost everywhere but changes have taken place in the ways and trends of celebrating Rakhi. Unlike the past, now markets are flooded with rakhis in innumerable designs, shapes, sizes, colors and materials. From zardoshi to precious pearl and diamonds, everything is used as a material to create beautiful rakhis. One can find myriad varieties of Rakhi threads in market which are very popular among the populace.<br />
<br />
The festival of Raksha Bandhan has been celebrated since times immemorial. But things have undergone a sea change.<br />
<br />
<br />
Now the question is: Are we giving more weightage to the sanctity of this affectionate relationship by increasing the monetary value of the Rakhis. Shouldn’t we be giving more value to the affectionate feelings, love and togetherness?<br />
<br />
Time to think about it ……..Festivals are ,after all ,to celebrate togetherness .<br />

We believe good luck by our own efforts and bad luck because of others. We pray to God in sorrow and forget when we succeed. There is thin life-line, drawn by God, in between Life and death, ups and down, which we never foresee, but it is controlled by unknown power. Sometimes we lose by a whisker. Sometimes we achieve unexpectedly beyond our own expectation. Super natural power of god control that thin life-line between GOOD or BADLUCK, SUCCESS or FAILURE.
Once we are born on this earth, we find our body is living amongst other human beings; we have to ask our inner voice, what is the purpose and meaning of our life i.e. relations, sharing and caring. The RAM found his purpose in ‘VANVAS’, BHISHAMH PITAMAH found in fighting for ‘KORVAS’,SHRI KRISHNA drived the charriot for Arjun in MAHABHARAT, Tulsidas by giving Divine preachings, Gandhiji found his purpose of life in freedom struggle, Ambedkarji in writing INDIAN CONSTITUTION,MOTHER TERESA to uplift ‘suffering people’. As a common man, we can see many people around us, found their purpose in their lives so easily, an IAS lady officer left her job to take care of her mentally challenged child, A Brother never got married to support his widow sister and her children, a government serving lady helped her divorcee sister and adapted her child to remain unmarried for the whole life. a father gave – up all his earnings for the education of his seven daughters and found every joy of life playing and caring grandchildren, a DHOBI while doing his job continuously for fourteen hours daily without any break provides protection to many families living nearby.
There are many such blessings of GOD and we gracefully accept the same to make our life comfortable. How can we live life without such blessings of GOD running through human to human as their purpose of life we have to find it! The one who knows his life’s purpose, its actual meaning, is rewarded by GOD with all luck and achievements. There are achievers as TATA BIRLAS who always treat their servants like their family. MR.AMITABH BACHAN became superstar because he is so humble towards human relations, feelings and sufferings, while acting in reel life and real life. DR.ABDUL KALAM AZAD became president of INDIA because he devoted his life for the cause of nation i.e. ISRO foundation. There are so many examples of common man who is blessed for finding the purpose of life. A shoemaker, who supported his son, relentlessly to become, AIIMS doctor. A salesman blessed with a doctor son and charter accountant daughter for his hard work and dedication. A pherewala blessed with two engineer sons who in return build a new house for their parents. In many ways we can find blessings of GOD rewarded for our pure karma’s (purpose of life).GOD is omnipresent we have to get his blessings only by finding a purpose of life and actually following it with faith, dedication and hard work. So we have to share happiness and joy with all human beings to have contentment and peace in our life.

<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.917969); color: #222222; font-family: garamond, 'new york', times, serif; font-size: 16px; margin: 0px; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 16pt;">Most of the sites on internet which use for social net-working start with www. Here it stands for world wide webs. So www should ideally stand for worship, wise and wisdom, and on the other hand these three W are also the symbols of wealth, women and wine and these are most dangerous in man’s life if he is crazy of only any one of the three. A person with lust remains in burn-out syndrome. Now days, everything is about material things. Getting latest phones, living in the best house, wearing the most expensive clothes etc. everyone wants to be the right at the top in terms of materialism. When people would choose to have money, cars, houses etc. over God. Forgetting all about the Creator during the midst of these things. That is what the bible says, I do believe in Mathew 16:26; “What does it a profit a man to gain the world but to lose his own soul.”<u></u><u></u></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.917969); color: #222222; font-family: garamond, 'new york', times, serif; font-size: 16px; margin: 0px; text-align: -webkit-auto;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.917969); color: #222222; font-family: garamond, 'new york', times, serif; font-size: 16px; margin: 0px; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 16pt;">In this materialistic world everybody is behind three W. Very few people are there who do not want such a happiness which is not perfect or complete, which is incomplete or transitory. They people do not want such a life and wish for such a knowledge which is incomplete. They want such a happiness which should never end. They want such a life which should always be.<u></u><u></u></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.917969); color: #222222; font-family: garamond, 'new york', times, serif; font-size: 16px; margin: 0px; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 16pt;"><u></u> <u></u></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.917969); color: #222222; font-family: garamond, 'new york', times, serif; font-size: 16px; margin: 0px; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 16pt;">Flies do not discriminate between filth and honey; they flit from one to the other. But bee is attracted only to the sweetness of honey. Similarly, there are indiscriminate human beings who like flies are drawn to material desires, no matter how impure, some may once in a while feel attracted to God and meditation, but as soon as another temptation comes they are captivated again by the material life. The devotees are like a honey bee. Devotees love only what is beautiful and good. They will feel goodness, and ever seek the sweet nectar of God’s presence in meditation.<u></u><u></u></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.917969); color: #222222; font-family: garamond, 'new york', times, serif; font-size: 16px; margin: 0px; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 16pt;"><u></u> <u></u></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.917969); color: #222222; font-family: garamond, 'new york', times, serif; font-size: 16px; margin: 0px; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 16pt;">There is nothing which is eternal, perfect or absolute. We hush up the desires to seek Truth by petty worldly desires and become happy or unhappy at times and intervals. Sit and connect <b><u>Inner</u></b> <b>net</b> instead of internet and it will enlighten the inner experience and realize the real nature of ours. And three W will transfer in worship, wise and Wisdom. Do worship, become wise and get wisdom.</span></div>

<br />
<div style="font-family: garamond, times, serif; font-size: 16px; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 16pt;">It was one of those hallowed days when the great benefactor was moving restlessly in quest of the mystery behind the endless sufferings awaiting this fugitive life. Undaunted, he was moving, engrossed in his thoughts and unconscious of the world outside his radiant face was overcast with an anxiety that reflected the tension raging in his mind. Feverishly he was striving at the problem of Relativity and Absolute. Suddenly his attention was attracted by a flock of sheep moving at that unusual hour, for it was noon, and he witnessed a peculiar scene in the flock. There was an ewe with two lambs, one moving ahead and other limping behind; for somebody had hurt it. The attention of mother was divided between the two and, vexed, she moved here and there lest she should lose one or the other.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: garamond, times, serif; font-size: 16px; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 16pt;"> </span></div>
<div style="font-family: garamond, times, serif; font-size: 16px; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 16pt;">All compassionate Buddha came down from the high plane of his mental sojourn and took the bleeding lamb upon his neck with the idea of relieving the ewe of her distress. On enquiring from the shepherds Buddha learnt that the entire flock of the innocent creatures was being taken to king Bimbisara to be offered by him as a sacrifice that night. Moved to depth by the news, Buddha decided to accompany the flock. Buddha was thinking of the dumb creatures who reposed all their trust in their master, the shepherd, who betrayed that trust.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: garamond, times, serif; font-size: 16px; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-size: 16pt;">At last the flock reached its destination. As Buddha entered the hall where sacrificial fire was burning and priests were chanting ‘<i>mantras’</i><b> to sanctify the victims offered for sacrifice. At one end he saw a stream of blood flowing. At that critical moment Buddha sought leave to speak. His voice was vibrating with compassion and fellow- feeling. How callous and merciless man was in betraying the trust reposed in him by mute creatures, Buddha lamented. The dumb creatures who offered to man milk and wool, themselves feeding upon the fodder that has natural growth, were slain in return of their sacrifice. What mercy should then man expect, who was a usurper, who took everything and gave back nothing?</b></span></div>
<div style="font-family: garamond, times, serif; font-size: 16px; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<b><span style="font-size: 16pt;">His words, full of disarming simplicity and innocence, moved everybody. Sacrificial fire was scattered and no more blood shed. Proclamation was made to the effect that there would be no further slaying of any creature in the kingdom, for any purpose whatsoever.</span></b></div>

<br />
'Satyamev Jayate' scripted on the national emblem ,is something which is incorrect.<br />
It is not clear that from which book it has been taken.<br />
<br />
This phrase was used by Sangh Govt alongwith the national emblem as a symbol and stamp.<br />
But in 'Ratnakar Sanskrit this phrase is found in the book, and in the place of 'jayate' it is 'jayati'.<br />
<br />
It appears grammatical error in this phrase,it should be Jayati instead of Jayate.<br />
<br />
Talking about common sense Satyamev Jayate has been taken from which book ?<br />
Answer: From Mundkopanisd, but it is Jayati instead of Jayate.<br />
<br />
सत्यमेव जयति नानृतं सत्येन पन्था विततो देवयानः ।<br />
येनाक्रमन्त्यृषयो ह्याप्तकामा यत्र तत्सत्यस्य परमं निधानम् ।। (मुण्डकोपनिषद् 3/1/6)<br />
<br />
<br />
Satyamev Jayate ' is our national phrase।
<br />
<br />
<br />
Many years of the reference number of Sanskritbhasha experts has been informed for this change to the govt of india , but this change has not been charted and even no ordinary person has been informed about it by the govt.<br />
<br />
How come this error occur in the motivational sentence and ruled sanskritist not drawn attention to the need to know to get started.<br />

<span style="font-family: verdana;">The most surprising fact is that despite the majority of us acknowledging worry as a waste of time and energy, it is still one of the common lessons we learn from our parents.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">The prevailing myth handed down from generation to generation is, ‘it is good to worry, it shows you care’.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Worry is fear and care is love, and fear and love are polar opposites. If you stop for a moment and become aware of why you worry about someone else you may also find it is motivated by selfishness – you actually are really worried for yourself.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">You are worried about how you will feel if something bad happens to someone else. In fact, you are already feeling it. Worry is simply a habit that is learnt, an addiction that is fed by a toxic diet of bad news, unfortunate events and tales of personal trauma of others. The best and easiest way to get rid of this habit of worrying is ‘To Live In the Present’, Remember, we can only find peace in now, we can only live with love now.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: verdana;">No sane person will dispute that success follows virtues? One who is a depository of virtues is a sure shot for success in life. Among the qualities of virtues, the foremost one is that it awakens one’s conscience against any kind of bad or immoral act.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">We have it from Roman philosopher Cicero, "The greatest theatre for virtue is conscience." One can say that conscience enables one to cultivate all the virtues that a man can be blessed with.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: verdana;">Authors Anil Kumar Jha and Ajit Kumar Bishnoi, in their latest book, Success Follows Virtues, list 108 virtues and tell us how these virtues, if cultivated, can not only save one from the surety of doom but can also make one the master of one’s own destiny.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: verdana;">According to the Geeta, virtue helps one do what is worth doing without any kind of attachment. And that makes it easier for one to get to the supreme state. We can say one good thing leads to another good thing and one stands a good chance of reaching the point of perfection.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="font-family: verdana;">How does one cultivate virtues? By being a man of courage and having simplicity of character, for instance. A man of courage, as Cicero said, is also full of faith; and simplicity of character, according Hazlitt, is the natural result of profound thought. A man who has already undergone profound thought is bound to be a man of virtuous character. The whole world opens up for such a person. And life becomes meaningful and worthy of living.</span></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Generally, in India, most yogis and mystics choose mountain peaks because they are not frequented by people, they are safe places. They choose rocks to deposit their knowledge in an energy form.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Mount Kailash is the greatest mystical library. Right from Shiva, the first yogi — in the yogic culture, we don't see Shiva as God; we see him as the Adiyogi, the first yogi, and the Adi Guru, the first Guru. Many yogis stored everything that they knew in Kailash in a certain way, in a certain energy form.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">So, if you are visiting Kailash, you are like an illiterate person going to a huge library. Let's say, you are illiterate and you walk into a mega-library. Everybody is sitting there and reading all kinds of books on various subjects. You don't know a word of it, but you will be overwhelmed. If you want to read it, you have to start from ABC. You have to learn the fundamentals of how to decipher life, starting with yourself. So, right now, you need vision, otherwise you can't be educated.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">When you get the alphabet, then you would like to read the sentence. When you read the sentence, you want to read the book. When you read the book, you want to know everything. Unless you have a taste, you will not even incline yourself into that direction. Let's say the whole society is illiterate, then they will never think of reading anything. But if someone knows reading, they will look at him and say, “Wow!” What empowerment, just because he can read. He would be regarded like the village man who happens to be the only person who can read letters.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">If you really want to decipher and know these different dimensions, you have to put in a certain amount of investment, time, and life. But if you just want to feel the power, you can come to certain spaces, be there, feel the power, enjoy it, take something and go. The grace of it is available, but the knowledge of it takes application.</span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: verdana; text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Sri Sri Ravi Shankar</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Meditation is the AC for the mind to be comfortable. We want comfort but we don’t know how to be absolutely comfortable. Let us explore five methods for a successful meditation.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">The first is through yoga and physical exercise. When our body does certain postures, with a certain rhythm, the mind slips into meditation. If you are very active or too well rested, you cannot meditate.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"> But in a state where the body has the right amount of tiredness, yet still not that tired; in that very delicate balance, your whole system slips into meditation.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"> The second is through breathing techniques and ‘pranayama’. The mind becomes quiet and still and you can slip into meditation effortlessly.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">The third is through any sensory pleasure — sight, sound, taste, smell or touch. Being 100 per cent engrossed in a particular sensory object brings you to a state of meditation. Just lie down and keep looking at the sky, or when you are completely engrossed in hearing music, a moment comes when the mind becomes still. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">The fourth way is through both positive and negative emotions. When you feel utterly hopeless or very angry, you say, ‘I give up!’ It means, ‘This is it. I can’t take it anymore.’ During those moments, if you don’t slip into frustration or depression or violence, you will find that there is a moment where the mind stands still.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">The fifth is through the intellect, knowledge, awareness. This is called Jnana Yoga. When you sit and know that this body is made up of billions of cells, something gets stimulated deep inside. The context of life immediately changes when you become aware of the magnanimity of the universe: Who are you? What are you? Where are you? How are you in reference to the unfathomable, infinite universe? Some shift happens within you.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">To meditate, you just need to know how to relax. If you are on a massage table, you let the masseur take care of you. Similarly, in meditation, you do nothing. Let nature or the spirit take care of you. —www.artofliving.org</span></div>

Some of his disciples were very agitated and did not know what to do, especially that there were chances of aftershocks. They approached him, and he assured them that since they were surrendered to God and were serving Him with their work, no harm would come to them; they will be safe.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: verdana;">I love travelling and believe that it is very useful and makes life interesting. When I was in Europe for my studies, I utilised every holiday break for travel fully. I visited several famous destinations which offered different and new experiences. I met many nice people and befriended some of them. In short, I fell in love with the Europeans.</span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Now I am in India for work experience, but I hardly meet any interesting person when I travel around. Before boarding a train or flight, I always pray to God that my co-passenger should be of my age or should be at least a nice one. Unfortunately, my recent journey from New Delhi to Amritsar was far from good and enjoyable. I discovered that my neighbour was an old man who seemed to be very rude and angry.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">After sometime, I noticed that the old man was taking two newspapers out of his bag. I felt happy seeing the papers. I requested if I could read one of them. I was furiously answered, "Let me read and do not disturb. I spent my own money on these newspapers. There are still five minutes. Go and buy." I felt insulted. Many thoughts came to my mind but there was one thought that made me cool and calm: all individuals can't be the same.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Soon, a newspaper hawker came in. He distributed a railway magazine and other newspapers on complimentary basis. I got several of them. When the old man had asked for his choice, it was out of stock. It gave me a sort of thrill and I was joyous and read different articles and editorials. I thought the old man must have regretted his own 'doing'.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Later, I saw him reading a book called Organisational behaviour: Attitude Matters. Why is he reading a book of this kind and how will it be useful to him since he does not know how to behave with others? I continued reading my papers and soon fell asleep. When I woke up, he was gone. 'Thanks a lot, God'. I didn't know what else to say!</span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">If a man is able to remain hopeful even in the worst situation, he has to thank the dynamic character of time. There is a time in everyone's life when things move favorably for him. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Things move so nicely and so fast that we get the feeling that somebody is working for us. But then a phase comes when even our best efforts, and most meticulously planned moves remain nonproductive. We confront one failure after another. Even our corrective actions backfire. It is nothing but the effect of the dynamic nature of time. Time has never remained same for any body. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: verdana;"> But, it is also true that this is the dynamic character of time that generates hope in us and makes us continue with our efforts even in the worst situation. The wise and learned understand this unique characteristic of time and develop in them the qualities of perseverance and forbearance. I know of an 80-year-old person, who, dabbling in shares, never booked a loss even if it meant waiting for 20 years and made good profits.</span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: verdana; text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Sadhguru, Hindustan Times</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">It is important that the spiritual dimension of life is brought into everybody's lives. Why some people develop an allergy to spirituality is because they are told that spirituality means leaving everything and going to the mountains. It is not true. It is better to learn how to be spiritual in your office, in your home, on the streets, or wherever you are. Spirituality is about your interiority, not what you do outside.Spirituality is an inner science to create a conducive inner atmosphere. The quality of your life is dependent on how you are within yourself. This moment, that quality depends on how joyous, how peaceful you are.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Your body is simply accumulations of what you have gathered from the Earth. When you leave, you cannot take even an atom of this body. So this body is not really yours. Your mind is not yours either. So, there is something else which needs to be looked at beyond these dimensions.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Even if your memory is erased, you will still be there. Your family, your status, your business, and everything that you own in the world will disappear. But still you are there. So beyond all the things that you identify yourself with, there is still something called 'You'. This 'You' is not subject to what you accumulate from outside. Unfortunately, that 'You' has been covered up and crowded with other things, that you never allowed yourself to look at that. You always thought that what you are identified with is much more important than who you really are.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">The whole process of spiritual science, yoga in particular, is to elevate you to an experience that is beyond the five sense organs. When you transcend the limited experience of what you know as yourself, your experience of life is naturally in a different dimension. Then you begin to experience that which is not physical but the spiritual, the divinity of your true nature. You then will begin to experience the joy, the blissfulness of knowing who you really are.</span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">The Virtue Of 'Acceptance' is one of the extremely needed divine virtue that can bring not only simplicity in our life but it is also the foundation on which divine powers like power to tolerate, to accommodate, to face can be built.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Usually, most of the people think that to accept or to confess their mistakes will lead to degrade their image. But this is a big misconception. The reality is that Acceptance of the mistakes committed is also one of the great acts of charity. It is said that 'Truth is always victorious', "Truthfulness is the main element of character." When we confess our guilt, the power of truth within us will emerge and 'truth' has the power to make the person in front of us contented and docile.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Whenever the thought of 'hatred' springs up in our mind or if our heart doesn't agree to accept someone's nature, then we have to think a while, why Supreme Almighty is being called Ocean of Love and Mercy? It is because he accepted all of us along with our vicious sanskars, defects and weaknesses. He never hates anybody , instead he praises us and always tries to make us similar to him by showering all the treasures of His knowledge, powers and virtues.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">In order to be like him, we have to make our hearts big enough to accommodate everyone. Hence, the one who accepts others would contribute his best to establish ‘World Brotherhood’,that would enable her/him to be ‘Loved by self, Loved by God and loved by others.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: verdana;">Lord Buddha's quest for excellence lies in the development of human values irrespective of caste, creed and religion. He asked his followers not to follow him out of mere admiration and submission. He emphasised on the practicability of his teachings and gave his followers full liberty for investigation before practising them for their emancipation.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Buddhists around the world understand the very essence of Buddhism by going through the extensive investigations in modern perspective and thus follow their Master's sayings. Needless to say, the world today is passing through a disastrous phase of survival when so many countries have already entered into confrontation.</span></div>

One day, someone knocked at the door. I could hear murmurs and music outside. After a few moments, Kaka, our caretaker, entered the room and whispered in grandfather's ear. He got up from the bed and moved towards the door. I followed him. I was feeling agitated partly because I wanted to sleep and partly because I did not want to miss my bedtime story.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Mountains have always been a source of mystery and wonder for me. During my childhood, my visits to the mountains endeared me to the climate and the peace of the hills. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">I often questioned myself as to why mountains are associated with spirituality. A recent visit to the Vaishno Devi shrine gave me the answer.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">We had gone to the mountains burdened with worries and concerns. But as the car climbed up the circuitous route to Katra and Vaishno Devi, it became cooler and the verdant green mountain with the shrine of the Mata began to beckon us. I felt rejuvenated and forgot my sickness because of the sacred aura of the shrine, its sublimity and etherealness everywhere. I felt attracted to read about Mata Vaishno Devi and her whereabouts. What I learnt about her was that she was actually a girl who had a mind inclined towards God since childhood. She had set her heart and soul on marrying Sri Ram who met her when she was deep in meditation. When she told this to Ram, he said that he was already married, but if she managed to recognise him in disguise, he would surely marry her.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">She was unable to recognise him but Ram did not disappoint her and promised to marry her in a future life.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">What, however, left an indelible impression on my mind was her deep and boundless love for Ram. What else is enlightenment but the realisation of love at the highest level?</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"> The aura and tranquility of love was apparent in people who came from far and near to visit the shrine.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">When Emerson said that one must hitch one’s wagon to a star, he had a telling point of inspiration. No man in history could achieve greatness without stubborn hope soaring high into the sky.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">In a different wavelength, Samuel Johnson said hope itself is a “species of happiness; and, perhaps, the chief happiness which this world affords.”</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">And we know that hope not only sustains life, it keeps one happy and positive under all kinds of stressful conditions. One has to hope for the best and then be carefree. Because hope is the driving force that keeps you struggling without letting you fall a prey to pessimism.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">An international researchers’ team, led by the University of Queensland, conducted studies in Australia and China for over nine years and found that those who had hopes for the future lived happier and better. With a sample of 10,000 people, the study showed that people who overestimated how rosy their future could be never had any reason for grumbling and they had all the reasons to live merrily.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Let’s admit that one who hopes against hope never accepts defeat. She/he somehow gets the best ways and means to come out successful in what earlier looked impossible. Such people may be quite rare but they are there.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">We say that some people have done miracles but these ‘miracles’ are nothing but the result of their constant and sincere struggle. As someone said, such miracles are fruits of hope in spite of having all the ground lost.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">One has to realise what is lost can be regained. Keep in mind that hope with action is the greatest weapon in getting one’s hopes realised.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Remaining cheerful is the key to keeping hopes alive. Before one loses hope, one should repeat Henry Wordsworth Longfellow’s mantra, “The setting of a great hope is like the setting of the sun. The brightness of life is gone.”</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Let us take this opportunity to be prisoners of hope (Zechariah) so that we are masters of our own destiny and have no qualms with life.</span></div>

</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">MN Kundu, Hindustan Times</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: verdana; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Unconditional giving is a natural principle and evident everywhere in nature. Earth gives us solids, liquids and minerals. Water gives itself away for our agriculture and other uses. Trees give flowers, fruits and wood. Air gives us the very life-breath and the sun gives us light of life.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Even the animals give us their milk, eggs, meat, skin and various services. But what we humans contribute to the cosmos in return?</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Isn’t our role predominantly selfish and destructive? We expand civilisation to disturb ecological balance, spread pollution in fresh natural atmosphere, indulge in ruthless deforestation, kill animals even for sport and consume all natural resources for our own selfish interest.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">Law of karma is a natural law whereby we are paid back in the same coin. We have added much for our comforts but we have not been able to attain peace and tranquility. We are constantly haunted by excessive greed for grabbing which is severely disturbing peaceful coexistence. We rarely do what we can for preservation of nature and even our own fellowmen. We have not moved much from the primitive selfish mentality where self-preservation was the law for survival.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">What can we give back to the cosmos? We humans are predominantly gifted with mind and intellect. These are very sharp instruments indeed which can be used as surgeon’s knife for healing or as an instrument for killing. Instead of nurturing anger, jealousy, hatred, selfishness and animosity, we can spread love, care, kindness and benevolence to all and thereby transform the earthly vibration into heavenly one. If not anything else, we can at least pray for the happiness and wellbeing of all.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: verdana;">We are here in the image of God. We have divine inheritance of love, wisdom and self-transformation. We may resolve to be engaged in divine enjoyment of nature and God’s creation with love. Jesus said, “Those that give shall receive.” Instead of being always at the receiving end, let us abide by the principle of giving by all means and see how things change for humanity at large.</span></div>
