Drug Trafficking: The Rise, The Fall and more!

2011-03-26T17:22:00.000-04:00

Tonight on www.bks1radio.com the Live In The Vocal Booth Show has another hot topic for you. Tonight’s Topic: Former Drug Kingpin Shawn Hartwell from Jail to doing Well and Teaching Kids Along The Way.

Drugs have destroyed the life of many young men. Whether a drug user or a drug supplier it's a life that often leads to an undesired end. Drugs are associated with destroying homes and bringing violence into communities, particularly urban communities. Drug trafficking creates a quick fix to major money for people who often had very little.

How can you help steer a young man in a different direction when the appeal of the money and the power that comes along with it is so satisfying? Do programs like dare really make an impact on deterring kids from choosing this type of life?

Shaun Hartwell once associated with the E'Port Posse out of Elizabeth New Jersey has first hand knowledge of this lifestyle. We hope he will shed insight on the rise and fall of being in this world with all its power, money and pain. Also, joining us is Author/ Publisher JM Benjamin a constant voice for positive things in the community. This will be the shows of all shows. If you are a parent or just know young men at risk for this life you must tune into BKS1RADIO.COM. It will be "Live in the Vocal Booth

Join us "Live In The Vocal Booth with The BKS1 Radio Team; Storm Norm “The General”, Trish aka "Super Woman ", Chill Mr. Keep It Real, Smoov P,Pretty Ricky, and Jeff aka Short Fuse”

Each year we celebrate the birth of Dr. King we honor his life, and his sacrifice w/ a National Holiday and celebrations, but have we transferred the meaning of his philosophy and example of leadership to the generations that have followed? Have we taken for granted the Civil Rights Movement an it's impact on our lives?

Where are our modern day Dr. Kings? We our faced today with many challenges. We face drugs that have ravaged our communities and violent crime. We face poverty and a failing educational system. We face declining morals and abuse in homes. Where are the advocates and the leaders that we need to step out and make a difference in these areas?

Dr. King knew he was giving his life to give us liberty. What will you give? Tonight we will focus on his philosophy and how that worked to bring change and apply that thinking to the issues we face in 2011. Let’s celebrate Dr. King “Live In The Vocal Booth”

On New Years Day thousands of Birds fell from the sky dead in Arkansas. This is definitely unsettling, but little did we know this phenomenon was happening across the world.

In Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay its estimated that 2 million fish are dead. In New Zealand there were reports of hundreds of dead fish washing up on shore. In the words of BKS 1 Radio’s very own news show “What the Hell Is Going On”?

Is this a sign of the last days or a biological attack perpetrated by terrorist, could it be possible fall out from Global Warming?

Being Single This time of Year – A joyful State or A State of Loneliness?

2010-12-18T15:17:00.000-05:00

Tonight at 11 pm est – 8 pm pst on BKS1 Radios Live In The Vocal Booth show on www.bks1radio.com we discuss the holiday season and social gatherings. The Holidays are filled with parties and family gatherings. It’s a time where people are embracing one another giving gifts and just enjoying the fest ivies of the season. How does being single affect a person this time of year? Do you embrace your singleness or is it a source of sadness? How do you find contentment in being single when you really desire a mate? How do you deal with being single when all your friends seem to me mated up?

According to New York Times writer Sam Roberts in a 2007 article “51% of Women Are Now Living Without A Spouse” he states Seventy percent of African American women and fifty-one percent of Hispanic women are currently unmarried. Forty-five percent of white women (non-Hispanic) and forty percent of Asian women are unmarried. The percentage of unmarried black women is considerably higher. What are the circumstances that cause such a shift in the numbers? These numbers represent a large part of the population. Is being single the new trend?

Whether married or single how do you create the life you want? How will you attract the life and the people you want in your life? The Live in the Vocal Booth has the secret and you don’t want t to miss this show.

Tax evasion, Wesley Snipes and Charlie Wilson on BKS1 Radio

2010-12-12T21:20:00.000-05:00

Join us tonight @ 10 pm est - 7 pm pst on www.bks1radio.com for the Live In The Vocal Booth Show. At 10 pm the team along with the listener rates and reviews Charlie Wilson’s new release Just Charlie.
Then at 11 pm we go into our hot topic for the night. Tonight’s Topic: Tax Evasion and Wesley Snipes does the Time Fit The Crime?

Lady Justice carries the scales representing truth and fairness. The blindfold represents impartiality meaning that your position in life will not bring you favor. In the case of Wesley Snipes and his conviction of tax evasion the scales of justice seem to be weighted down by his celebrity. Many have raised the question in Wesley Snipes case of whether the time fits the crime.

Tax evasion has been practiced for many years and was a part of the old boys club. Tax Evasion became a legal tool to take down the heads of Organized Crime, but there is an element in our society that it never seems to touch. Is Wesley Snipes crime being to rich and not smart enough to hide his money like the good ole boys? What do you think about the sentence and does the time fit the crime.

Gender Roles in Society Today

2010-12-05T18:06:00.000-05:00

Sun. December 5, 2010 - 10PM ET. 8PM PT
Tonight’s Topic: Has the Change in Gender Roles Hurt the Family and the Workplace?

Join us "Live In The Vocal Booth with The BKS1 Radio Team; Storm Norm “The General”, Trish aka "Super Woman ",Chill Mr. Keep It Real, Smoov P, Pretty Ricky Fontaine &Jeff aka Short Fuse

After 50 years of women moving into the workplace and men sharing in the at home responsibilities the roles traditionally held by men and women have drastically changed.

Women have evolved in almost every aspect of the work place from joining the arm forces to rising up the corporate ladder. Has this evolution been a positive one or has it broken the fiber of the family? This upward movement that has equipped women with competitive salaries and education be blamed for the crisis we see in youth violence and teenage pregnancy?

What about men that have taken on the role of Mr. Mom because mom can pull in more money and Dad stays home to rear the children. We want to know what you think about the gender switch and if it has made life better or worse. Let your voice be heard “Live in the Vocal Booth”.

Unemployment, Foreclosures, and Poverty are rampant today

2010-12-04T16:38:00.000-05:00

Tonight on www.bks1radio.com @ 11 pm est - 8 pm pst Bks1 Radios Live In The Cipher team discusses the state of the economy.

“Tis the season to be Jolly”, but how to you find the joy when your circumstances are uncertain. The unemployment rate is through the roof and the foreclosures on home still rampant. What is in place for the average Joe, the everyday man and woman that want to give a good days work for a good days pay, but the jobs just are not there. The rate in which families are losing their homes is unconscionable and Those in power have presented great ideas, but have they trickled down to those that need it most? America has such extremes from the very rich to the very poor, but those in the middle the working class seem to be suffering at alarming rates without assistance that really works. What do you do if you fall behind in your mortgage? What can you do if your home is about to be auctioned? What help is out there if you have lost your job? Tonight we will talk about the state of the economic condition of the US and the resources that may help those that need it most at this time. Recently a New Jersey Pastor Cedric Miller forbid his Church Leadership from having Facebook accounts. The Pastor said Facebook was a “portal to infidelity”. The Pastor was involved in a Ménage à trois with his wife, and a male church assistant. This raises the question, is Facebook to blame for infidelity? The Pastor goes on to say as he has counseled with many married couples this past year and Facebook has been the common denominator as a conduit to infidelity.

What do you think is Facebook temptation the scapegoat or the cause? What’s next will people say my cell phone made me do it or is there validity to the thought that all these modern conveniences make it easier to be unfaithful? What if you commit a criminal act because you need money to support your drug addition is it the drugs fault? If we eliminated Facebook and text messaging would we be more faithful to our mates? Let’s hear what you have to say “Live in the Vocal Booth” “Live In The Vocal Booth”

Maybe your family is somewhat normal, but you can’t stand the hussy cousin that always has her breast out and tight jeans flaunting it in front of your man. What about that brother that always wants to borrow some money to get a smoke or a little nip or the friend that shows up empty handed and leaves with four plates and a pair of your pants.

The Holidays are supposed to be a great time for getting together with family and friends, but how do you survive the nonsense.

American Streets...the new killing fields

2010-11-13T20:25:00.000-05:00

Tonight @ 11 pm est - 8 pm pst on www.bks1radio.com BKS1 Radio's Live In The Vocal Booth team discusses the rising problem of violence on our streets. All too often when tragedy strikes people look for the causes and point the finger here there and everywhere. We place blame on the community leaders, the community, the school system, the parents and drugs. When will we face the fact that we all share a part in the demise of our communities?

Many of us are far too silent and locked in by fear. The fear that cripples us is the face of the violence and the perpetrators that seem to have no concise and no value of life. Guns and Violence are no longer gated inside the urban areas it has spilled out and crept into the gated communities.

Violence face is varied in color, shape and age. Violence has no respect for your address or your level of education. We can’t move away from it and think its okay. We can’t pull our kids out of the school system and think we don’t still have to work to make things better.

After the memorials, after the tears, and the graveside prayers, after the mourning, what will you do to bring about change?

Tonight the BKS1 Radio team along with community leaders will listen to your concerns and offers of solutions. We will talk about what is working to curtail violence in other areas and what each person can do to make a difference. Let your voice be heard “Live In The Vocal Booth” Call in 646-929-1530 or chat in our shout box!!!

Should you tell or keep a secret?

2010-11-06T21:05:00.000-04:00

Tonight @11 pm est - 8 pm pst on www.bks1radio.com BKS1 Radios Live In The Vocal Booth Team will discuss another hot topic: Should You Tell?

You witness your friends spouse or significant other in a compromising position which gives the impression they maybe stepping out on their partner, do you tell your friend or should you confront the presumed guilty party?

What if your friend’s wife comes on to you leaving no doubt in your mind her intentions to seduce you? What would you do? How does one man tell another his wife or girlfriend came on to him? If you were the friend what would you do, take it to the grave, tell the victimize partner or confront the suspecting cheater?

If you were being cheated on would you want your friend to tell you if they knew? Can real friends just stand back and do nothing when they may suspect their friend’s partner is guilty of stepping outside of the relationship.

What are the things you should consider before you act and will the truth really set you free or cause you to loose a friend? Come share your story of Should I Tell “Live In The Vocal Booth.
