We had a great show in Austin TX where we met new folks and met up with our existing customers. We each rotated and spent some time in the Mitel booth as well
getting to know our new co-workers and meeting many new customers.

Mitel buys TigerTMS, moving its hospitality business up the stack from communications infrastructure to applications.

In talking to No Jitter editor in chief Eric Krapf a couple weeks ago, Mitel CEO Rich McBee foretold of future acquisitions in what he sees as three technology pillars: mobility, contact center, and cloud. Today, with the acquisition of global hospitality applications specialist TigerTMS, the conversation turned from the abstract to the actual.

Innline IP Version & Software Upgrade Instructions

We have found and isolated a potential issue regarding Day Light Savings time and wakeup calls on InnlineIP systems that use Wakeup Call Offloading but only with a Mitel 3300 integration.

The issue makes itself evident the morning of the Day Light Savings time change and any calls that are set through the Mitel Console.
The InnlineIP software does not adjust the timers to reflect the time change. This causes two wakeup calls to take place. The call from the Mitel will be accurate, the other from the InnlineIP, which will either be an hour before or an hour after, depending on the time change direction.
The issue does not reoccur after the first day of the time change.

The good news is, we have isolated the issue and have been able to put a fix in our latest InnlineIP release.

Are guestroom phones going the way of the dodo?

Not really… but their role has changed as hotel guests continue to rely almost solely on their mobile devices.
Guestroom phones have become mostly a communication device for on-property communication and a security device for the hotel. Years ago people would use it for long-distance calls. Cells phone changed that.

Here at ITW we have iConnect, our solution for extending the existing guest room phones to the guest’s smartphones.
iConnect provides a cost effective and secure method of extending the hotels telephony beyond the PBX. The system resides on the Guest side of a Voice Quality WIFI and connects to the PBX using SIP trunking.
For activation, Hotels can choose which of the guest profile fields should be used for validation, typically, but all the guests needs to do is enter their Room and reservation number, then they are connected.
