Miami is Ranked 8th for Energy Star Buildings

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Miami has ranked near the top in the country at number 8 in the number of Energy Star buildings it has. Energy Star buildings save on energy costs while reducing greenhouse gas emissions by incorporating environmentally friendly practices and products.

Miami Energy Star buildings cover over 20 million square feet and have reduced greenhouse gas emissions equaling that of 2,800 homes in a year. But the best news to any business owner is that the Energy Star buildings in Miami have saved an impressive $19 million per year.

Los Angeles and Washington D.C. ranked number one and two respectively on the list and another Florida city, Tampa, made the list for the first time this year.

Celebrating its 20th year, the EPA’s mission is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through the use of energy efficient programs. For more information, click here.

16th Annual Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

Registration is now open for the 16th Annual Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Race participants may register as individuals or form teams and start collecting pledges for the power of 10 challenge. We are expecting more than 20,000 participants and 1,500 breast cancer survivors to participate in this Race for the Cure. Survivor procession and ceremony, 5K run and walk, one mile fun run and tot run to benefit the fight against breast cancer.

Im 14 and I need Learning Service Hours for my school. I am interested in politics and was hoping I could do something that I would enjoy. I could intern somewhere but I want it to be in politics so I have an early start. I don’t live in D.C. or anything, i live in Florida. I would appreciate if you guys gave me some ideas!!! thanks so much!

First of all don’t commit yourself to either party yet! Learn as much as you can about each party.
Start at the local level, talk to your mayor. I bet he would have pointers for you!
As you get older you can go to city government , state government then to Federal.
Go to your counselors at school and ask what courses would most benefit you and your future career.
Join a debating team at your school. A politician needs to get his ideas across to his constituents! Good Luck!

I am looking for a top quality golf course to play in Miami which is not too expensive to play. I hear Doral is very expensive. I am looking for a golf course similar in quality to the Blue Monster but not the same price!

Your best bet is probably Crandon Park Golf Club. It used to host a Champions Tour event, but has been beefed up since then. It’s a test.

how can i make money recycling old computer parts in miami-dade county?

hi all, i have been searching non stop for answers on this, i have lots of old computer parts, which i do want to recycle. but have paid my fair share of money for them, is there anywhere in miami dade county where i can recycle these parts for some dough, it doesnt have to be alot, but something at least. i have 3 motherboards, a couple of optical drives 3-4 cpus, a hdd, ram and some power supplies. please if anyone can help me out, thanks

Call or visit a local computer repair shop, if the parts are workable, they’ll likely offer you something. Don’t expect much, though, computers depreciate much faster than cars do. Look at your ram and HDD – they need to be at least scalable to current offerings. A 20GB hard drive is pretty small, when you can get 16GB chips for your camera.
