Sedona Lace-28 Neutral Palette Review & Swatches

Hey Darlings!

I have had the opportunity to test out a palette from Sedona Lace and wanted to give you all a more detailed review this time around. I normally go straight into a video but this time I wanted to go ahead and do swatches, and a review before going ahead with a tutorial. I do however try and post FOTD photos on my Instagram account (InsideOutBlack) if you are interested I will start posting info on what it is I'm wearing so you can get an idea of what products I'm using.

I was given the opportunity to choose a palette of my choice and thought since I haven't heard too much about the 28 Neutral Palette and given our love for neutrals and "go to/ everyday palettes" I thought this one would be something you all might be interested in. Plus I'm sure we have seen the ever so famous 120 palettes and heard tons of reviews so I didn't want to go that route.

You can also go to Sedona Lace and check out further photos that are professionally taken. I have to admit when I first seen this palette I wasn't expecting the colors to be so "Pink". Don't get me wrong there is a few shades such as some of the highlight shades that have more of a yellow tone to them but for the most part I just see more pinky shades. Some run more peach and of course there is one purple and one black.

For me this palette isn't a staple in my collection. It is nice to have but definitely not a "go to" palette. The shadows are a bit on the messy side, and do have some fall out when applying even in a patting motion, but as long as you tap off any additional shadow and use a base that has some tackiness that can be decreased. I would recommend applying your foundation last just to prevent any muddiness under the eye area. There are plenty of tips and tricks out there though that you can do to prevent this from happening or to make clean up easier.

I do find with some of the shades almost have a bit of a chalky texture and easily blend away to the point where you need to use more dense crease brushes to make sure you don't lose any of the color. This can be a good thing and a bad thing. If you are heavy handed it makes it easier to just dust/ blend the color away if you happen to apply too much, for some this can be annoying if you want a more concentrated deeper color without all the effort. Like I said I just find all you have to do is use less fluffy brushes and again that not the case with all the colors just some.

Now getting back to why I don't consider this a "go to" palette for myself. I feel in this palette I don't get enough variation and from experience every look I do with this palette seem to look very similar, even when I change it up. I feel I need more variation and would of liked to have seen maybe a few taupe shades, maybe a grey, and a few more shades with a bit of a sheen/ sparkle, most of them are satin, matte and very few that are shimmery. That's just personal opinion. I think for some they would love the fact that there isn't very many shimmery shades, especially for older women who tend to steer clear of those. I do like however how this palette contains great highlight shades, a great black, and of course a bunch of medium brown shades great for blending.

I think this palette would be best suited for those who have a general look they go for daily and don't steer far from there every day look. Also younger girls who are just getting into makeup would benefit from a palette like this because I find its not too much and pink, peachy shades and plums can look very natural and not over done and suite every eye color. Of course as I stated before if you are older and want a palette that isn't full of shimmer then I would recommend this.

Overall I think for $17.95 I think its a good deal, the shadows are about the size of a loonie and the shipping was fast and none of the shadows were broken upon delivery which is a big thing for me. I've had this happen in the past with other companies that sell similar products. The size of the palette is quite large and I don't think would be good for travel as the palette itself isn't as sturdy as a MAC palette, however with that being said I've traveled with my MAC palettes and they aren't the best for regular travel either.

Personally I am happy I have this palette in my collection as there is some pretty shades that I do reach for however I would not re-purchase if I ran out. I think if you are going to purchase a palette I would go for either the 120 or the 168 palettes available on Sedona Lace as they have more variation and could see getting more use out of those.

UPDATE

Hope you are all well! I realize some of you are curious as to where I have been these days, and I thought you all deserved an update. I had plenty of ideas, videos and reviews planned for January and February but due to a few events that have taken place that have caused me some grief and a need of a break from my blog and my YouTube. I will resume asap as I love and miss you all already!

As soon as I can get settled and find an area to film I will post a video. I was thinking of starting to do more Celebrity inspired videos and of course the odd review here and there. I find that reviews are tricky for me, and that some people forget that everyone's opinions are different and so is our skin type and so on so not everyone will feel the same way about a product. Lastly I have decided to refrain from doing sponsored or accept products for review as I wanted my channel to be more Tutorials and Favorites than anything else. Of course if there is a product that you would like for me to review I will do my best :).

Adele Decemer Cosmo Cover Tutorial

I recently was going through my magazines for some inspiration for my next tutorial and didn't even realize I had the December issue of Cosmo! I thought this would be a great look for Spring. Hope you all enjoy!

New Years Eve Tutorial

Hey Darlings!

Hope you are all well. It has been a few months since I have posted and I apologize! Things have been a whirl wind around here. Not going into detail considering I'd like to keep somethings private but I can assure you I am here to stay :). Christmas sure helped as I got a new camera and Derek got me Power Director Editing software to edit. Now before you get too excited, editing is not one of my strongest points but I will give it my best. Now unlike a ton of guru's out there I can't say that I have the time to do insane amounts of editing but I'm sure simple thinks like watching me put on mascara for 2 minutes is kind of boring to say the least so that's where movie magic comes in haha.

Modern Basic is a cosmetic distributor that also does private labeling. & great for students, makeup artists, and even freelance MUA to build their kits or even to just restock since the prices are low. Hey Darlings!

Hope your well :). I was recently asked to do more TAG videos and of course I said yes! I know my biggest request is to do more tutorials, and I'm working on it, I'm trying to find good lighting again, and a good setup. I've tried a few different areas of our house and so far I keep getting an orange cast or the lighting is way too dark. Don't fret my lovelies I have one last idea I'm working on and I think it may be a winner. *Fingers crossed!* There's always the option of expensive lights and a better camera but unfortunately I don't have that sorta cash to burn. Hopefully in the future I can get a better setup, don't forget Christmas is coming :P

Late June Favorites

It has been way too long! The laptop I was using to upload would no longer allow me to upload videos, it would constantly say "Upload Failed" and give me no explanation. Sun Labs Review

Sun Labs Kit

As promised here is a picture of me after using the Sun Labs Kit :) Reminder the lighting is a bit weird lol I am at my Grandparents ridiculously old house so that will explain the crazy bathroom.

For some of you curious if I like this better than my Arbonne Made in the Shade

I definitely have to say I prefer this one, also its cheaper. I also find the Sun Labs self tanner color is far more natural.

Update & Late January Favorites

As some of you may or may not know I have been a bit tied up this last month. I have moved, I've started a new job and a new healthy lifestyle. It's been a bit of a struggle to balance everything but I miss all of my beautiful YouTube friends so I'm doing the best I can to get back in to a schedule that includes you all :)

I did record a "January Hits and Misses" video but decided I'd rather do "Monthly Favorites". I prefer them, and no matter what I did I couldn't get the video under 20 minutes. So I've decided I'm going to stick with the following videos:

OK! Now on to my January Favorites!

Now first off if you all want I can do a video if you are interested, but for now I will be just posting what products I reached for most, loved and discovered. So here goes :)

MOST USED & LOVED

Maybelline One By One Mascara- Loved this for how long it made my lashes look, it wasn't the most volumizing mascara I've tried but I really liked the results it gave my lashes. wasn't a huge fan of the scent but for the most part I just kept grabbing for it.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer- Out of the whole "Fit Me" line this is one product I have to say you have to try. I love the moisturizing feel, and how it didn't settle into fine lines yet it was still pretty opaque. Overall great drugstore concealer.

Revlon Soft Nude Lipstick- By far this is my favorite nude lipstick. I usually pair it up with MAC's Subculture lipliner and it was an almost daily combo for me. I love the color, and how its not too pale, and not too brown, the color is nice and lasts a decent amount of time. Lastly it's not expensive, or drying. A bonus for me!

Made From Earth Grapefruit Glycolic Scrub- I have been testing out a new skin care line and I'm not going to say just yet since it's only been a month but I can say I have been reaching for this over my St. Ive's Apricot scrub and liked how gentle this exfoliated my face. Omg and the smell! Soooooo yummy not so much just grapefruit scented but more citrus scented.

Made From Earth Green Tea Toxin Cleanser- I'm not kidding when I say how nice this cleanser feels at the end of the night or during any time of the day for that matter, but this cleanser is nothing like I've ever tried, it feels almost like a lotion consistancy and just super soothing. Loveeeeee it! I can't say if it works as of yet but I will tell you I haven't broken out in a while so that's always a good sign :)

Made From Earth PH Equilibrant Moisturizer-This product without a doubt is a new FAVORITE! Nothing really more I can say about this product. I will be repurchasing this in a heart beat. This product by far has been the highlight of January and might have to be a holy grail item for me.

Joico K-Pak Moisture Intense Hydrator Conditioner- As you all know I have recently gone blonde, and as with any highlighting, lightening process this can reck havoc on your hair, and to prevent any breakage and to help rehydrate my hair I turned to an old favorite. I have always turned to this product at any point where I have added any sort of stress or damage.

As I mentioned before I am so happy to mention Made From Earth, I did reciveve these to test out but am not required to mention them. I am very happy to note though I am very impressed. I am very pleased to say this company offers Organic, Holistic, Healthy, and Cruelty free!

Hey Darlings

I've been itching for a change for quite some time but really didn't have the time, or the funds to put that change into action but finally things have changed and its about darn time I got to treat myself!

You all may have seen the tweets and the inspiration photos on FB but incase you haven't here are a few pictures I was looking to for reference for color:

Just keep in mind I went from really dark so my hair is a bit on the warmer brassy side but thank goodness for purple shampoo! Some of the brassiness has gone down. So here is a before picture:

Which is a dark cool medium brown I'd say but don't quote me. I haven't colored it since last summer and was just plain bored with it.

Now get ready for it!!!!

What I did:

To acheive this I went to a salon of course! I didn't need any bad bleach accidents to happen again! My stylist just did a heavy full head of highlights with a 30 volume bleach and not sure exactly what toner she used but it did a good job of reducing how brassy it was. She left some brown in it which I don't really care for but will be going a bit lighter not too much lighter with some more lighter highlights in the next few weeks, but so far I am very happy about the results.

Here's what I hope to achieve:

I know this might be unrealistic but I have always been in love with this beachy shade. We shall see. I am naturally a very very light brown close to dark ashy blonde. I think its an awful natural hair color but it gave me the option to go light or dark.

Now in case your curious, I did get new extensions and will be talking about those real soon! I ordered some from Luxy Extensions :) Love them so far!

Hey Darlings

Now this is not something I normally do hauls are very far and in between for me, but figured since I like watching them maybe I'll start uploading them. Coastal Scents 88 Metal Mania Palette Review

Hey Darlings

So after testing out this palette for quite some time I have finally come around to doing a review for you all. Hope you all enjoy:)

REVIEW

Pros

Large color selection
Inexpensive
Accessible (Various companies carry palettes like this or similar)
Pigmented when used with a base
Doesn't stain (some colors like reds can stain the skin, haven't noticed any staining with this palette)

Cons

Some shadows are chalky
Lots of fall out
To get full pigmentation you need to use a base
Palette is easy to break, quality isn't quite there so travel is out of the question with this palette

Final Thoughts

Just like I state in the video I think for users who are just getting into makeup and maybe don't have a whole lot of shadows to work with this palette would be a nice addition. Personally I enjoy having it a round and like the metallic finish this palette offers which is definietly not something I have alot of in my collection. I don't reach for it often enough but do find for special occasions or going out this palette is a great asset. Out of all the palettes coastal scents offers however I have to say this isn't the one I'd purchase if given the choice of choosing one palette however, I feel there isn't enough variation of finishes to just have this paticular palette but it is nice to have on hand. You really can't beat the price either.

Would I repurchase?

If I could go back knowing what I know now about this palette would I repurchase? For me personally yes, I find just using a NYX jumbo pencil in either milk or black bean works perfect and aslong as I apply my foundation after doing my eyes or just be really careful. I do like the way the shadows look. If your into smokey eyes, or shimmery/metallic finishes then this is a nice palette to have on hand. Even though there is some flaws I still enjoy it and could see myself repurchasing, I doubt that I would need to though, I'm sure this palette will last me quite some time.

Requested Tutorial-Gold Winged Eye

This tutorial was requested by quite a few of you from my December Favorites video, asking what I was wearing on my eyes and since so many of you asked I decided to just make a video. This look can be used for any occasion really, I personally wore it for Christmas, but you can wear it out on the town, clubbing, or on a dinner date, this look can be worn anytime.

Nailene Couture Nails

Hey Darlings!

Hope you all are well! I wanted to tell you guys about these sooner but was almost terrified to try them out that I honestly kept putting it off. Good thing for boring evenings and feeling a bit adventurous haha.

First off I just wanted to tell you all I am no nail expert! I like having cute nails but let me tell you I am very low maintenance when it comes to my nails. I cut them, file them, and sometimes I`ll paint them and then go on with my life. Then there`s those days where I feel like pampering myself and go an extra mile and experiment and luckily I recently had one of those nights.

First off lets see what we`re working with:

Little stick, I'm not sure of the correct name (Orange Stick?) but its used to push back the cuticle and what not. I used it to help remove any glue that got on the sides of my fingers.

Alrighty, so let me tell you, I don't do my nails that often so don't be shocked at how terrible they look on their own. Before taking this picture I removed all polish with nail polish remover, trimmed, filed, and like the directions stated buffed my nails with the nail file provided to ensure the nails and glue would adhere together properly. I never ever did this step before applying nails before so this was new to me. Maybe that's what I've been doing wrong before.

Before

Reminder the package asked me to buff the nail so its makes them look worse than they usually look!

After

I can't say it enough! I love these! I wish they weren't just temporary!

Want to know how?

Remove all polish and excess oils on your nails with nail polish remover.
Trim and file nails, shorter seems to work best I think but as long as they are no longer than the press on nails then that should be fine.
Push back cuticles, and buff nails.
Fit each nail ensuring each nail fits snug.
Apply glue to your nails then onto the fake nail ensuring glue is spread evenly.
Press on nail and hold for 10-15 seconds making sure to press hard, this will prevent air pockets.
Make sure to remove any glue that has gotten on to the skin especially touching the skin around the nails before it dries.

Now all that sounds like common sense but seriously that's all there is to it!

Initial Thoughts & Opinions

Firstly, I was dead scared of applying these nails, I have never been good at anything to do with nails and to me this was a breeze! In total it only took me about 20 min for the whole process and I have to say I didn't do such a bad job!

So far I have been putting these nails to the test, washed dishes 1-2 times a day, styled my hair, and when I showered they surprisingly didn't catch or lift when washing my hair. Also these nails are a bit thicker on the ends so they don't break or chip easily with force and the length isn't to long, it actually feels like a good length for my hands. Of course on the first day I wore them I was a bit on the awkward side but eventually I got used to having them on.

They state that they are long wearing, but don't state how long. The nice thing about these nails is there was no need to file them at all to make them fit & the set came with many different sizes to fit individual nails perfectly. To ensure a perfect fit make sure they fit snug, by that I mean not touching your skin by your nails at all. Trust me its not as hard as it sounds. I had absolutely no problem finding the perfect fit for each nail especially with all the different sizes.

Lastly I have to say I really enjoyed the feeling of having nice nails, especially typing haha. The clicking probably would annoy some but I thought it was a reminder of how cute my nails were. I can actually say I feel proud of my nails and not trying to hide them. Oh and before I forget a huge reason why I was terrified of temporary nails such as these was the thought of a nail just popping off. That could be embarrassing! Even if a nail did pop off atleast this set comes with extras so I could easily just put on another.

Why Nails??

I would definietly recommend these to anyone who maybe wants fancy nails without paying salon prices for maybe a special event, party, or just to have the look of acrylic or gel nails without the damage or up keep. Cost of these nails vary from place to place but definitely not very expensive anywhere from $5 to $10 so its not a huge splurge.

Final Thoughts

Alright I'm sure you want to know my thoughts! I wore these nails for 8 days before one fell off, which was my index fingernail, not sure if that means anything to anyone but thought I'd let ya know and here is a final photo of what my nails looked like on day 8 this is taken with my iPhone but as you can see they are slightly lifting, but still feel secure. The only reason I'm going to remove them is because they are lifting they catch on my hair and that's a pain but if you didn't have the lifting I did you could just put another nail back on and you'd be alright since the box set does come with quite a few extras. I have to say I really enjoyed wearing these and didn't feel self consious about them popping off either. All in all I would re-purchase. I think a weeks wear is pretty good, and I think I could of gone a bit longer with that being said it really depends how rough you are.

Love how convienent these are, also you can change up your styles way more often. And finally your nails aren't thin or brittle or destroyed once removed which is a huge to me. I've had acrylic nails before and they ruined my nails afterwards so I can definietly say with these your nails are fine after.

DAY 8

I had a lot of fun giving these nails a try and would for sure repurchase in the future! I do have another set to try which are a more natural look so if these were a bit too dramatic there are other styles to suit your look.
